Author Sid Nachman Announces New Video Biopic, Bipolar Me, Now Available

The new video, based on his highly praised memoir, 'Bipolar Me', takes viewers though the story of Nachman's experiences as the first person in the US to be diagnosed bipolar

[CITY STATE DATE] Sid Nachman was the first person in the USA to be diagnosed bipolar. Reviewers have called his memoir, 'Bipolar Me', "a roller coaster ride through the mind of one of the funniest and endearing story-tellers of his generation." That story is now available in video format on Youtube, Vimeo and on Amazon Fire TV and Roku.

'Bipolar Me' provides a penetrating glimpse into the day-to-day experience of a man who dealt with a condition for which there was no name at the time - a time when such chemical imbalances might be diagnosed as a form of schizophrenia and could be treated with electric shock treatment or end up with the sufferer being locked away.

This happened during the early 1960's when lithium was banned in the US. While grappling with the effects of being bipolar, Sid managed to persevere through four failed marriages and the death of a beloved daughter at age 12 as well as his adopted daughter, Karen, who raised six kids and committed suicide at age 50,

'Bipolar Me' has garnered high praise from readers and reviewers alike. Sid's no-holds-barred writing style produces a work that is filled with hilarious stories that show us that life is just plain good. It is a highly entertaining memoir that allows readers a glimpse into the unfettered mind of a bipolar boy who never grows up until his hair turns white. Readers will get to see his world in black and white and vivid color and will feel what he feels when he feels like he weighs three thousand pounds and a minute later can leap over tall buildings. Sid's life is a life gone wild that settles down only when it’s almost too late.

Sid's first book, 'Strictly For Seniors' is a nonfiction work of short stories about what happened to Sid "after breakfast on Delancey Street" in West Philly during the 30’s and 40’s when his Mom gave him a big hug and kiss and sent him on his way. Sid had great fun, survived bullying by hitting the bigger boys about the head with his violin case and developed his own singular brand of “street smarts".

Nachman is also the author of 'Kiss Abuse Goodbye'. The book tells the story of a woman who suffers unspeakable abuse and then healing, from early childhood into adult life. The main character managed to overcome her experience, transforming a miserable past into a future filled with promise and hope. Sid Nachman recounts her inspiring tale with a dose of acerbic wit that shines through on every page. The end result is a book that is both wildly entertaining and incredibly revealing. He has also produced a screenplay based on the book, titled ‘Raw’.

Nachman's books have received fantastic reviews. One stated, "Like James Joyce, Sid Nachman can take the ordinary and turn it into magic with a fluency that's imperceptible." Another said "Sid's stories touch the human soul with wit, charm and realism."

The new video is available at Youtube at https://youtu.be/Q-j_u6ZFF1I, Vimeo at https://vimeo.com/483258605 and Amazon and on Amazon Fire TV and Roku.

Sid Nachman is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at mollymax210@gmail.com. All books are available at Amazon. More information, including samples from the books and recent interviews with The Authors Show, is available at his website at http://www.sidnachman.com.

About Sid Nachman:

Sid Nachman was the only child of immigrant parents from Russia and Germany who tried for 13 years to have him and were very tired from trying so hard. His initials are S.I.N. for Sidney Irving Nachman. He never found out if he was a sin or a joy. Sid resides in Florida with his wife, Linda and his golden retriever Violet and in spite of his big mouth is still loved by all.

Gratitude And Giving Thanks In 2020 - It Is Possible To Feel Gratefulness In the Midst Of Hopelessness Says Award Winning Author, Covid Survivor And Film Maker Cheryl Williams

Cheryl Williams, an award winning author, poet, film maker and musician, recently released a new video that shows us how gratefulness can help us overcome nearly any challenge

There are thousands of jokes and memes about 2020 circulating out there. 2020 has been one of the most challenging years in the US - the pandemic, social unrest, unemployment, political division, shootings, riots - the list goes on and on. Many of us see this as depressing, some of us are overcome with anxiety, some of us have just given up. Award winning author, film maker and Covid survivor Cheryl Williams believes we can find reason for gratefulness in the very midst of hopelessness.

"Though the year 2020 has brought us so much pain, hopelessness and loss, it has also been a year of purpose, and change," Williams stated.

"I am a Covid survivor who was hit hard by this virus and still suffering its after effects. Even though there are days I can’t be all I used to be, I am grateful to be still here, to be able to make a difference, being all that I can be. God has blessed me and my family in ways that I could have never imagined. He has brought me hope, freedom and purpose.

"Despite all the hardships, 2020 has been an extraordinary, eye-opening year. It has been a year of learning - learning about myself and others.

"I felt that the poem "A Blessing" was fitting to use in this context. To help us understand that no matter how tough life gets, the gift of life is truly a blessing, and there is always something to be thankful for."

A Blessing

When life dumps its issues on you
And situations seem unbearable
Meditate on the blessings

When the aches and pains
Wash away hope like the rain
Contemplate on the blessings

When problems seem insurmountable
And disappointments deem unconquerable
Focus on the blessings

When blinding snow prevails
Feeling trapped with no escape
When tyranny reigns
And all sees fails

Never forget that
Life is still a blessing

"Despite so many lives lost, 2020 has also been a year of healing, even though we have been divided on so many issues. I have also seen so many come together for a common cause. I have witnessed loyalty, the outpouring of support, and empathy.

"2020 has been a year of change and progress. My vision has been broadened during this unpredictable year.

"I have learned a lot and I am truly blessed for the many, many blessings that have been bestowed upon me and my family during this year.

"What are you thankful for in 2020?"

The new video, ‘Feeling Gratefulness In The Midst Of Hopelessness’ features testimonials from her sons Kyle and Kriston and her sister Gail Toney. It is available at Youtube at https://youtu.be/opvh2qD2uUM.

Williams, the award winning author of 'A Collection Of Poems: A Journey Through Life' is also a talented film maker and musician. She recently released a new video entitled "Covid-19: A Child's View." The new film is a penetrating look into the experiences of those whose young lives have been affected. The new film is available at Youtube at https://youtu.be/MiL3NMtsKhM.

"In this YouTube video, 'Covid-19: A Child’s View', we can listen to the kids as they speak about their experiences and perspectives surrounding the virus and this pandemic," Williams stated.

Williams had a chance to speak with Anthony, the fourteen year old Covid survivor, who was featured in 'Covid-19 and My Child. Anthony’s story was aired on News 12 Long Island and featured in the the Deer Park-North Babylon NY Patch,
https://patch.com/new-york/deerpark-northbabylon/mom-whose-son-14-had-coronavirus-urges-back-school-caution

Williams also recently posted a mesmerizing account of her coronavirus experience in a Youtube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpN7nMt8gf0&t=91s.

Williams was named Top Female Author in the 2019 Top Female Author Awards in the poetry category. The win came as the result of her most recent book, 'A Collection Of Poems: A Journey Through Life'. Williams was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors by a panel of judges.

Writing has helped Williams connect with her inner self, finding positive ways to cope with life's struggles. She has been writing and singing for as long as she can remember.

Throughout her childhood she sang in both the church and school choir, and also enjoyed singing at talent shows and music festivals. As an adult she also participated in concerts, performing as a solo artist.

Music and writing are the tools that bring her fulfillment and healing. Her book, 'A Collection Of Poems', takes us through the power of the human mind, good or bad, and its impact on one's direction and journey through life.

With the help of music, writing, and positive thinking, Williams found hope and purpose in life. Life isn't fair. It is unpredictable, bad things happen to good people, and we never know what tomorrow holds. Cheryl wants her readers to realize that even when faced with insurmountable, hopeless situations, even when life seems dark and uncertain, we should never let go of hope and appreciate the beauty and blessings that life has to offer, making the most of every day, loving, living, laughing, and learning. Seasons change, and there is always a rainbow after the storms of life.

Cheryl Williams is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at cherylw27@aol.com. 'A Collection Of Poems: A Journey Through Life' is available at Amazon and Dorrance Publishing. More information, including a number of videos and a collection of music, is available at her website at https://cherylhot6.wixsite.com/cherylpwilliams.

About Cheryl Williams:

Cheryl Williams is a wife, mother, author, and nurse by profession, with a passion for the Arts.

Her love for poetry started at the tender age of five when she recited the poem "Grandfather Frog” for a school function. Six years later, her world was turned upside down after her mother suffered a massive stroke. During those uncertain times, music, writing, and poetry helped her cope.

As a teenager, whenever she wasn’t caring for her mother, Cheryl spent her free time writing and directing short plays as a form of entertainment for the children in her neighborhood.

She enjoyed singing in the church and school choir, while also performing publicly as a soloist in concerts and talent shows. As a result of her mother’s illness and her responsibility to help care for her, Cheryl was inspired to pursue nursing as a way to help others heal; the same way writing and music helped her find a path to healing. She resides in New York.

Helping Seniors Deal With Loneliness During The Holidays - New Book, Helping Yourself Grow Old By Award Winning Author Frances Fuller Addresses The Unique Challenges Of Seniors Living Alone

Multi-award winning author Frances Fuller offers a unique outlook on aging based on her own experience. The book will be of special interest to older readers who might find themselves isolated during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A recent article posted on Time.com addresses the issue of loneliness, specifically the senior population, and how loneliness affects both physical and mental health. Based on information from the National Poll on Healthy Aging, the article lays out how loneliness can adversely affect well-being, including "higher risks of heart attacks, strokes, depression, anxiety and early death."

Loneliness affects a staggering one-third of all seniors. More so during the Holidays. Even more so during a pandemic.

As stated in the piece, "In the study sponsored by the AARP, researchers from the University of Michigan surveyed a group of about 2,000 Americans ages 50 to 80. More than a third of seniors in the poll said they felt a lack of companionship at least some of the time, and 27% said they sometimes or often felt isolated; most of the people who said they lacked companionship also felt isolated, and vice versa. Almost 30% said they socialized with friends, family or neighbors once a week or less."

Award winning author Frances Fuller's latest book, 'Helping Yourself Grow Old: Things I Said To Myself When I Was Almost 90', offers penetrating insights and valuable information for seniors who are dealing with loneliness, isolation and 'Covid fatigue'. The book is an ideal gift for not only seniors, but also members of their families, as the book shines a light on issues that all seniors must deal with not only during the Holidays, but also on a daily basis.

There are many great books on aging available. However, many of them were written from an academic point of view. Most are penned by sociologists, doctors, gerontologists, even the CEO of AARP, and one by a Catholic nun, Joan Chittister. Chittister's book, 'The Gift of Years' is beautifully written, focusing on spiritual values and finding meaning in life. Chittister admits in the preface that she was only 70, which is the front edge of aging, and her book is somewhat abstract.

Atul Gawande’s book, 'On Being Mortal', relates medicine and old age, It enjoys high Amazon rankings, in the category of “the sociology of aging.” It contains a great deal of valuable scientific information and shows understanding of the physical and emotional needs of the elderly.

Frances Fuller’s book, 'Helping Yourself Grow Old, Things I Said To Myself When I Was Almost Ninety', is an up-close and very personal encounter with aging. It is an uncontrived and firsthand look at her own daily experiences: wrestling with physical limitations, grief, loneliness, fears, and the decisions she has made about how to cope with these and keep becoming a better person. She faces regrets and the need to forgive herself and others and is determined to live in a way that blesses her children and grandchildren.

Frances deals with many common, universal but sometimes private issues in an open, conversational tone. Her confessions and decisions invite self-searching and discussion. She tries to make sense of her own past and to understand her responsibility to younger generations. In the process she shares her daily life, enriched with memories from her fascinating experiences. Her stories and her voice — fresh, honest, irresistible — keep the reader eager for more. The end result is a book that helps create a detailed map through the challenging terrain of old age.

The result of this intimate narrative is that readers laugh, cry and identify with her mistakes and problems. Reviewers have called the book, “unique,” “honest,” “witty,” “poignant,” “challenging” and “life-changing.”

For these reasons it is a book unlike any other book on aging you will ever read. The book can serve as a primer on what lies in store for all of us, from someone who is working through many of these issues. While the book is a perfect fit for book clubs, there are many other individuals and groups who could benefit from the information and ideas in the book:

Those approaching retirement
People who are currently retired
Children of aging parents
Those who have lost a spouse
Retirement community discussion groups
Counselors
Educators
Life coaches
Church groups (men and women)

and a host of others. For group discussions, Fuller has made a set of discussion questions available at her website at http://www.FrancesFullerAuthor.com.

Readers have lavished praise on the new book. One Amazon review stated, "I find myself thinking,'I need to read this again and take notes!' It’s full of wisdom, humor, and grace. I also have committed to rereading it annually - it’s that important!" Another said, "There is valuable life experience in this book. Helping Yourself Grow Old is truly is a book for all ages, and one not to be missed." Another stated, "Beautifully written book telling timeless truths, for both the old and the young. Highly recommend this book for anyone who loves to laugh, cry, and learn wisdom from someone who has lived so much life."

Frances' prior work, 'In Borrowed Houses', has taken three industry awards. Frances Fuller was the Grand Prize winner in the 2015 '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' Book Awards. It received the bronze medal for memoir in the Illumination Book Awards in 2014. Northern California Publishers and Authors annually gives awards for literature produced by residents of the area. In 2015 'In Borrowed Houses' received two prizes: Best Non-fiction and Best Cover.

Critics have also praised ‘In Borrowed Houses.’ A judge in the 22nd Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards called 'In Borrowed Houses' “ . . a well written book full of compassion . . . a captivating story . . . ”. Another reviewer described the book as “Wise, honest, sensitive, funny, heart-wrenching . . .”. Colin Chapman, lecturer in Islamic Studies at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut said, “ . . . western Christians and Middle Eastern Christians need to read this story…full of remarkable perceptiveness and genuine hope.”

The new interview is available at the Women Over 70 podcast site and their Facebook page.

Frances Fuller is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at frances0516@att.net. Fuller's books are available at Amazon and other book retailers. A free ebook sample from 'In Borrowed Houses' is available at http://www.payhip.com/francesfuller. More information, including discussion questions for 'Helping Yourself Grow Old', is available at her website at http://www.francesfullerauthor.com.

About Frances Fuller:

Frances Fuller spent thirty years in the violent Middle East and for twenty-four of those years was the director of a Christian publishing program with offices in Lebanon. While leading the development of spiritual books in the Arabic language, she survived long years of civil war and invasions.

Jody Sharpe, Award Winning Author Of New Book, Special Needs Children The Angels On My Shoulder, Announces Desert Foothills Library Visit, Message About Bullying

Sharpe's previously published books are riveting inspirational thrillers written in honor of her daughter Kate and her husband Steve. Her new video channel features angel stories and stories from her experience working with special needs children.

Award winning author Jody Sharpe has announced a number of activities for November 2020.

She was the presenter at the Writers Connection meeting held on November 6, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Her topic was titled, "The Angels On The Writers' Shoulder."

Jody recently published a piece on the 'Tuesdays With The Angels' section of her website. The new piece, titled 'Messages about bullying', discusses how working with her special students (who are often bullied), gave her a purpose in life, a purpose to do for others. These kind and vulnerable children changed her world and her belief in hope for humanity. The new piece is available at her website.

Jody also announced a donation of books to DSN Network Arizona. As presented on their site, the mission at DSNetwork "is to educate, support and advocate for those in our community touched by Down syndrome. DSNetwork achieves this goal through an open, supportive and collaborative network that connects individuals and families with needed resources and information."

Sharpe worked with special needs kids for many years. In her latest book, 'Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder', she gives us a penetrating and remarkable look at her day to day interaction with her students that will likely be of interest to educators, counselors and parents. It is a book that will both entertain and inform.

"My life was enlightened and enriched teaching children with special needs," Sharpe stated. "Their different personalities taught me so much about their loving natures, love of life, and hopeful yearning to succeed despite their disabilities."

Jody is the author of five books. Her latest book, 'Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder', is as entertaining as it is illuminating. Readers will likely never look at special needs children in the same way again.

One Amazon review stated, "This book should be required reading for all teaching students; not just special needs teachers. This book has so much value in demonstrating the positive affects that teachers can have on students, and also the blessings that students provide to their teachers. It would show new teachers personal benefits which they may have not yet realized. It is heart-warming and adorable.; absolutely enjoyable for everyone. It is short, but effective, and I am sure that many other teachers have examples they could add . . ."

The new book follows her recently released children's book about angels, "When The Angel Sent Butterflies". The new book helps children understand that love from their parents and others surrounds them. Love conquers fear and believing that angels are near can help sweep any childhood fear away. This concept is presented in the book when Angel Ken sends Jones and Kate butterflies. The book, appropriate for ages 2 to 7, is now available at Amazon and Ingram.

Jody's works center on angels on earth and the expression of their love and protection through synchronicity. On the 'Tuesdays With The Angels' section of her site, Sharpe presents stories of real life encounters with angels. The stories are available at Sharpe's website at http://www.jodysharpe.com.

In Sharpe's earlier, highly acclaimed novels, angels take on human form and interact with humanity in a variety of ways:

Town of Angels - It is angel vs. bully in the town of Mystic Bay, California, where a well kept secret lies. Angels live as humans there. After angels appeared to three children all was blissful in the town full of psychics, and ordinary folk. But as a bully, Klaus Waxman, comes to town, Angel Ken Leighton, a storeowner, must carefully guide his flock of humans not to give to in to the bully’s efforts. As Klaus opens a store mocking the resident angels sightings, Angel Ken guides psychic Justine Greer and her family to thwart his efforts. And with the help of the indomitable oldest psychic in town, Madam Norma, the bully meets his match with soft voices and intuitive minds…

To Catch An Angel - Jody is also the author of 'To Catch An Angel', written in memory of her late husband Steve. In 'To Catch An Angel', miracles happen in Mystic Bay, California, the town with the psychic and angel vibe. Angels are calling. Psychic Maggie Malone returns home to find she's swept up in the miracle of it all. She can't imagine why her mother left or who her father might be. But these questions pale in comparison to the wonder of the angels. Maggie meets writer, Noah Greenstreet. They realize they've met before, but where? Maggie and Noah embark on a journey to find our world is all awash with angels.

The Angel's Daughter - A secret lies in Mystic Bay, California and only two people know it. First there’s Hannah, a tender curly headed half Angel Then there’s her father, Gabe, an effervescent, teddy bear of a full-blooded angel. And it’s up to Hannah to keep the secret safe but she’s made a colossal mistake telling her ex-boyfriend and writing professor, Sam Blakely. Now he’s written a book exposing the secret to the world.

Sharpe presents stories and interviews about angels in her 'Tuesdays With The Angels' blog series. She is now accepting submissions of angel stories for possible inclusion. She hopes to create a collection of angel stories that involve sightings of angels, interaction with angels, miraculous angel encounters and other types of accounts or stories. All submissions will be considered, but inclusion is not guaranteed. Stories may be submitted at http://bit.ly/2FV8amd.

Jody was chosen as a winner in the annual '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' Book Awards'. She was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors through a public voting process.

Jody Sharpe is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at sharpejody76@gmail.com. Angel stories can be submitted at http://bit.ly/2FV8amd. All of her books are available at online book retailers. New quotes will be added every Tuesday to the 'Tuesdays With The Angels' section of her blog, which can be found at her website at http://www.JodySharpe.com.

Profile:

Jody Sharpe had a rewarding career as a Special Education teacher. Writing about angels became healing after losing her daughter and then her husband. The valuable lessons she learned about moving forward and loving life in the now have set her on a mission to tell the stories with love, humor and spiritual awakening. The fictitious town of Mystic Bay has given her an avenue to put characters and themes together hopefully enlightening the reader towards contemplation of the precious life and memories we are given.

Incredible Bible Mysteries - New Video Series Now Available From Joseph Ganci, Author Of Best-Selling Christian Fiction Novel "Gideon The Sound And The Glory"

In this Old Testament historical fiction novel, Ganci combines Old Testament revelations with modern day revelations, action and adventure to provide audiences with a unique, emotionally charged experience.

Joseph Ganci, author of the bestselling Christian fiction novel 'Gideon The Sound And The Glory' has announced the release of a new video series, 'Incredible Bible Mysteries'

There is a great deal of interest in Christian fiction today, and for a good reason - the Bible is filled with true tales that border on crossing over into the realm of fantasy. On the other hand, many stories have not yet come to light. It is some of these stories Ganci presents in 'Incredible Bible Mysteries,' now available on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK0Op2dYhMXtz7nh2D__keQ and Vimeo at https://vimeo.com/user63200380.

In regard to new video series, Ganci stated, "Some of the Bible stories in the series that I find most intriguing are:

"The True Nature of God. How the Trinity or The God Head, in reality, is One God.

"The Face of God and the Angels. No man can see the face of God and live, but how and why some have and survived.

"The Elevation of Eli. The High Priest at Shiloh, The Mysteries of the Ark, The Tabernacle, Salt, and The Five Golden Mice and The five Golden Emrods Offered In The Philistine Cart.

"Unless You Destroy The Blind and The Lame You Cannot Enter (Jabus) or Jerusalem. The Connection of The Cave of Machpelah or The Cave of The Double Tombs, and why David's heart was sorrowful at their destruction.

"In the Battle of Misfits and Cattle, David and his band of barely armed vagabonds conquer a regular Philistine army and save Keilah's fortress city."

Ganci takes a ground-breaking and revelatory path in his quest to bring the awe-inspiring story of Gideon to life and ultimately to film. He believes that connecting facts are far more enchanting than loosely fitting fantasies. He works within a framework of an engaging and dramatized fiction that remains faithful to uphold spiritual principles while exceedingly rich in detail. He bases his work on three primary pillars:

* The rock-solid cornerstone is historical biblical geography.

* The creative arch is revelatory in its timing and issues.

* The research is concrete, firmly rooted in customs, languages, and traditions.

Ganci fills in the blanks with rock-solid research and prophetic revelations. It is a style that has allowed him to create breakthrough approaches that are exciting and breathtaking while remaining within the limits of believable biblical teachings.

Ganci believes that Old Testament revelations are the Word of God. At the same time, many needful details remained buried until the information age of discovery made them prominent and visible to the naked eye. These insights create a middle ground of understanding. As a dedicated and highly motivated researcher, he proposes many undiscovered nuggets of spiritual gold in the original manuscripts. He shines a new light on ancient texts and removes the black or white argument of the all-or-nothing question of modern-day revelations. He is adept at untangling the philosophical and theological human-made knots. He allows us to take a fresh look at what some consider to be foregone conclusions.

Readers of 'Gideon The Sound and the Glory' will learn about the Jewish Tabernacle, the Ark of the Covenant, the mysterious Golden Ephod, how and why David found himself at his battle with Goliath, and much, much more. This work illuminates the dark corners of scripture while engaging readers in a gripping narrative.

Ganci is completing his sequel novel 'David, God's Chosen Crucible' and his many adventures and conquests. David's making of his vast Israeli empire. The shepherd boy king and the capture of his six wives. His torrid love affair with the insatiable Bathsheba, all but provoking a cover-up in a conspiracy to murder. The anointed king who risked it all for the love of a woman. Ganci does it with a deft touch of Biblical erotica in keeping with Bathsheba's sensual bath and the hot sleepless desert nights with a monarch that challenged her fiery passions.

Joseph Ganci honored as one of '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' in the 2017 Book Awards. 'Gideon: The Sound and the Glory' has received rave reviews from readers and reviewers alike. A recent reviewer stated, "Joseph Ganci's prose is arresting, peppered with fantastic imagery and succinct descriptions of plot, characters, and setting. The themes rise to a masterful recreation. They are woven into the story to allow the reader to enjoy both the inspiration the story offers and the accompanying action. The book explores powerful spiritual and political themes, capturing the conflicts and the dynamics of life within the community of God's chosen people. Gideon: The Sound and the Glory will appeal to fans of political thrillers, adventure, and conflict-driven stories laced with intense action." Other reviewers have used phrases such as "riveting," "amazing," "deftly crafted," and "highly recommended."

Ganci has also announced he will make his book available as a fundraising tool for like-minded associations and charities. Donors can receive an eBook version of 'Gideon' in exchange for a donation to a worthy cause. For more details, contact Joseph via email.

Joseph Ganci is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at joseph@gideonsglory.com. 'Gideon: The Sound and the Glory' available in both print, eBook, and a superb, ethnically correct audio narration, all from online retailers.

Covid-19 And Christmas 2020 – During The Holidays Find Inspiration, Healing And Promise For The Future With A New Christmas Book By Award Winning Author Donna Fletcher Crow

Crow writes meticulously researched, entertaining novels of romance, history, adventure and mystery in an engaging you-are-there style that allows readers to live the history. Reviewers have compared her work with PD James, Dan Brown and Barbara Pym.

Award winning author Donna Fletcher Crow, has announced the release of a new Christmas book just in time for the 2020 Holiday Season. 'A Lighted Lamp,' Scenes of Christmas Through Time, allows readers to experience Christmases ranging from Scotland a thousand years ago to modern England, with visits to the American west in between, as people through the ages find strength and promise for the future in the season. Celebrate in locations as diverse as a Scottish court, a Regency country house, a pioneer shack, and a contemporary English monastery. Customs have changed, struggles have varied, but one constant has remained—Christmas has never failed to bring hope and joy.

Crow explained her motivation for writing this book: “All around me I am hearing people express their worries about Christmas this year. How can we celebrate in the midst of a pandemic, especially where many areas are reaching new spikes? How can it be a season of joy when I am cut off from my family by travel restrictions? What will Christmas be like when experts say even singing carols presents a danger?

“I wanted to do something to shed light in the darkness, to bring a ray of hope amidst fear. In looking back over my 50-some published books, I realized how all my characters had faced situations, often as dire as our own. Each one of them struggled with the problems and challenges of their day. Yet, in all times and places, Christmas has never failed to bring its special gift of joy and healing to their unique conflicts.

"Using events from my novels, I have shaped a collection of short stories to share these experiences with my readers, desiring that they will find inspiration for their own situations this year as we face our own dilemmas of how to observe the up-coming festive season in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, economic loss, and for many, even personal grief.

"It is my hope that readers will delight as: Queen Margaret reforms manners at the Scottish court with a deft touch of gift-giving; young Bors faces family hostilities when he is sent home after the great fire that destroyed Glastonbury Abbey; Georgiana Somerset grapples with conflicting emotions amidst a whirl of Regency merrymaking at Badminton House; Kathryn discovers renewed strength to carry on in a homestead shack in the Idaho desert; her daughter Elizabeth manages to find reasons to celebrate in the depths of the Great Depression; as does her daughter in the midst of the turbulence of the 1970s; and finally, an American woman finds the light of hope in a contemporary monastery in England as she works with troubled teens.

"It’s no accident that, at least in the western hemisphere, Christmas comes at the darkest, coldest time of the year. From earliest days people have yearned for peace, for beauty, for warmth, and this longing has expressed itself through the ages in our annual high festival of light."

Donna Fletcher Crow is the author of 50 books, mostly novels of British history. She has taken a number of high-level industry awards for her work. 'Glastonbury' is her best-known book, which received the prestigious First Place, Historical Novel, award from the National Federation of Press Women. Readers and reviewers have raved about 'Glastonbury', calling it "The best of its kind," "richly fascinating," "beautifully researched," "gloriously evocative," and "panoramic." One Amazon reader said, "WHAT a work! Every reader can be enveloped in the sheer scope and quality, every historian be constantly nodding at the precise detail and accuracy, and every Christian can rejoice in the fullness of scripture. For me it is simply beyond descriptive praise. I would urge all who value truth to treat themselves to a feast."

The Monastery Murders Series features atmospheric contemporary crimes with their roots buried deep in the middle ages. Books in the series include 'A Very Private Grave', 'A Darkly Hidden Truth', 'An Unholy Communion', 'A Newly Crimsoned Reliquary', 'An All-Consuming Fire' and the newly-released 'Against All Fierce Hostility.'

The Daughters of Courage, 'Kathryn', 'Elizabeth' and 'Stephanie' is a pioneer family saga based on the stories of Crow's own family and other Idaho pioneers in the Kuna, Nampa and Boise area. A short story on her blog entitled “A Nostalgic Fourth of July” is based on a scene from ‘Kathryn: Days of Loss and Hope'.

Where There is Love is a 6-book series of the enduring legacy of love and faith all based on historic people and events. The titles are: ‘Where Love Begins’, ‘Where Love Illumines’, ‘Where Love Triumphs’, ‘Where Love Restores’, ‘Where Love Shines’, and ‘Where Love Calls’.

The Elizabeth & Richard Mysteries is a literary suspense series using literary figures as background: Rudyard Kipling in 'The Flame Ignites', Dorothy L Sayers in 'The Shadow of Reality', Shakespeare in 'A Midsummer Eve's Nightmare', and Jane Austen in both 'A Jane Austen Encounter' and 'A Most Singular Venture'. Watch for 'A Prodigious Sum of Corpses: Seeking Sanditon at Jane Austen’s Seashore', which will take readers to all of Austen’s favorite seashore resorts. Accounts of Crow’s visits to these sites are available on her blog under the heading “Jane Austen Seashore Tour.”

The Lord Danvers Victorian true-crime series is an Amazon bestseller in the British Detectives category. Books in the series include 'A Lethal Spectre', 'A Most Inconvenient Death', 'Grave Matters', 'To Dust You Shall Return' and 'A Tincture of Murder'. Donna provides a no-charge download of 'A Tincture of Murder' for those who sign up for her newsletter. More information is available at her website.

Addiction Recovery - Bestselling Author Linville Meadows MD Details Key Reasons Why Physicians Overcome Addiction To Alcohol And Drugs At Higher Rates

While sobriety and the sober life are the goals of many 12 step programs, key differences in the manner in which physicians personally treat substance abuse and achieve long term sobriety can produce far better results.

“Addiction is a democratic disease,” says Amazon bestselling author, Linville M. Meadows, M.D., in his new book. “Substance abuse is no respecter of social class, income, or age. It afflicts movie stars like Ben Affleck and Brad Pitt, musicians like Amy Winehouse, personalities like Hunter Biden, as well as dock workers and doctors like myself.”

Meadows’ recovery from addiction to cocaine and alcohol, and the spiritual pathway he found for overcoming his disease, are the subject of ‘A Spiritual Pathway to Recovery from Addiction.’ “Finding sobriety and living a sober life are not easy,” says Meadows, “but the long-term recovery rate for physicians is far better than for the general population.”

Meadows’ own recovery began in 1997. “Most 12 Step programs offer from 10 to 20% sobriety at one year. But the intensive program designed for physicians yields over 70% at five years!” The techniques used to achieve this wonderful result from the basis of his book and are available to everyone.

“I wish I could go back and tell my young self what I’ve discovered about the horrors of addiction,” said Meadows. “I would speak to the young Russell Brands of the world, share the lessons told by Stephen King and Joe Walsh, of the essential goodness and redeemability of every human being, no matter horrible their lives may seem.”

Dr. Linville Meadows is an Honors graduate of the U.N.C. School of Medicine, was recognized internationally for his work in cancer research, and was designated as a Clinical Investigator of the National Cancer Institute. His personal experiences, and his observations of other addicts and alcoholics seeking recovery, laid the groundwork for his bestselling book on recovery, ‘A Spiritual Pathway to Recovery from Addiction: A Physician's Journey of Discovery’.

His approach to the subject is utterly unique, as it is the memoir of a group of physicians going through an intensive rehab program. It is presented as a collection of the stories and lessons they encountered during their time together. It is a step-by-step guide to understanding the disease of addiction and how to treat it effectively, presented in a way that is both highly informative and wildly entertaining.

Dr. Meadows concepts have been featured by Psychology Today, Psychiatry Times, and TheFix.com. In this #1 Amazon bestseller, readers will discover how to overcome addiction through the use of spiritual principles, like honesty, compassion, and faith; a simple and successful treatment that works for impaired physicians and can be used by anyone. Readers will benefit from having information that may greatly increase their chances of successful recovery from addiction.

“I woke up on my 49th birthday and realized that I was addicted to drugs and alcohol and that my life was spinning wildly out of control. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop. Some days I wanted passionately to quit and some days I just didn't care. I had reached a point where I could no longer use and live. It was either quit or die, and then something happened. I found recovery.”

Some of the topics covered in the book include:

The disease concept of addiction
Overcoming the denial and the uncontrollable craving
Finding the openness, honesty, and willingness to change
Dealing with past mistakes and removing character defects
Exchanging my old addictive ways of thinking for healthier ones
Finding spiritual principles I can live by
Living without fear or worry
Finding happiness within myself

While the book is appropriate for any person who might wish to explore the topics of addiction and recovery, those for whom it will hold the most value include:

The reader who wants to know if his drinking is actually out of control.
The reader who knows he is in trouble, and wants to change.
The old-timer in recovery who wants to learn more about his disease.
Their families and friends.
The practitioner who treats these people.

The new book has received rave reviews from readers and reviewers alike. Ralph Snyderman, M.D., Chancellor Emeritus, Duke University stated, "If there is any book you plan to read about addiction this year, it should be this one as it will be a classic for anyone wanting to understand the mind of addicted physicians (and others) and what it takes to recover”. The Prairies Book Review said, “This outstanding guide with cogent insights into the nightmarish world of addiction and recovery is a must-read for anyone who thinks he has a problem with addiction.”

Dr. Larry Goodman, author of ‘Fridays With Goodman’ said, "The book's value is as a contemporary guide to recovery, set in plain English, as compared to the Big Book of Alcoholics Alcoholics. In my coaching world, there are many, many, many, many people, who have not yet reached the point of incomprehensible demoralization that is active addiction, or who are in families where addiction is rampant, who will be served by this book."
