Antisemitism – Holocaust Years in Scandinavia, Jewish Question During World War II Provided By The Yellow Star That Wasn't, New Historical Memoir By Award Winning Author Cami Ann Green, PhD

Cami Ann Green is an award-winning author of human interest stories. Green has authored observations of life in America for several Scandinavian publications, both in Finland and the US, including face-to-face interviews with legendary novelist James Michener, and iconic feminist Betty Friedan.

Usually, the World Happiness Report and wartime Jews of Scandinavia don’t appear in the same sentence but 2021 is an unusual year. For the first time in its history, the Report measured the relationship between happiness and Covid-19, putting Scandinavia in the top eight countries where happiness was determined by people’s confidence in their governments and trust in each other, two factors that played a major role in Jewish survival in this part of the world.

In this special contribution to the genre(s) of World War II history and 21st century memoir, ‘The Yellow Star That Wasn’t; Scandinavia, Miami, And Me’ (Wartime Jews in Scandinavia; From Helsinki to a Miami Beach Obsession), Cami Ann Green introduces a geographic area that’s not a common part of Jewish history during World War II: the often-forgotten Nordic countries of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

The newly released historical memoir brings out little known historical facts, such as Finnish-Jewish soldiers worshipping in a portable synagogue at the Russian front while fighting alongside German Nazis, and that Hitler invaded Denmark and Norway on the same day in 1940 with Finland and Sweden being left alone. Without over-whelming readers with mind-numbing information, often typical of the previous literature about the years 1940-1945, Green includes more commonly known events (such as the heroism of Raoul Wallenberg, and Swedish Count Bernadotte rescuing camp inmates with his White Busses) to show readers how history and culture continue to affect the way we still view human relations, specifically in the area of tolerance and the fight against antisemitism.

Traditionally, teachers have relied on textbooks on the general history of WWII to fulfill their states’s mandate on Holocaust studies, but one professor doesn’t think the subject should be taught just as history, because then it becomes easy for students to say, “It happened then, it happened there, it has no relevance here.”

Education that engages students is the antidote to antisemitism, and to that end, connecting the topic with everyday people is essential. ‘The Yellow Star That Wasn’t; Scandinavia, Miami, And Me’ comes with biographical snapshots and anecdotes highlighting real characters and events that inspire anyone interested in stories to broaden their understanding of antisemitism and the Holocaust years in Scandinavia.

The book takes readers from the author as a Swedish, Protestant girl in the homogenous society of Helsinki (Finland) where Jews and Catholics were intriguingly exotic, through a marriage to a Catholic-American and then falling in love with a Jewish man in Miami Beach who gives her a sense of belonging in his Jewish community where she’s repeatedly asked about the fate of wartime Jews in the four Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden), all with their own unique experiences.

Among Green’s unique qualifications for ‘The Yellow Star That Wasn’t; Scandinavia, Miami, And Me’ are her proficiency in the Scandinavian languages, and her ability to make the personal into the universal – particularly as it relates to history – by her focus on the human experience. Much of the material, told with a wry sense of humor, has evolved from the interest expressed by listeners at her ongoing speaking engagements.

Among the praise for ‘The Yellow Star That Wasn’t; Scandinavia, Miami, And Me’:

One reviewer said, "(the book) successfully weaves the writer's personal story into a narrative of acceptance/intolerance/resilience of the Jews in Scandinavia before, during and after the events of World War II. Ultimately it's an inspirational story on several levels."

Another noted, "The history of the Scandinavian Jewish experience of the Holocaust was full of information that was new to me. The comments the writer's lectures stimulated reveals the great connection to victims and survivors that lives in the generation that grew up right after WWII. This connection inevitably will fade in the following generations - to their peril."

Another stated, "I learned history not found in any of my history books in high school."

'The Yellow Star That Wasn't: Scandinavia, Miami and Me' is available from Amazon and other quality booksellers. More information is available at the website at http://www.seagreenpress.com.

The Pandemic Can Be A Disaster Or An Opportunity For Young People Says Award Winning Author And Film Maker Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein

Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein is an award winning Selfie Filmmaker, Zoom Drama Creator, Positive Psychologist and podcaster who helps us overcome anxiety and alienation through multiple media channels.

In a recent article on the New York Times website, it was stated that the Times asked 5,500 teenagers about their experience of the pandemic. Their responses were sobering.

As stated in the article, "In words and images, audio and video, they reported that it was, in many ways, a generation-defining disaster. Being trapped inside — and missing the milestones that ordinarily mark coming of age in America — was lonely, disorienting, depressing and even suffocating.

"But many also surprised themselves. They bonded with siblings, discovered nature, found small comforts in Zoom-school, played games, worked out, cooked, wrote, sang, danced, painted and made videos. And, perhaps most important at a time of life focused on figuring out who you are, they reinvented themselves."

Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, award winning author and Selfie Film Maker, see both sides. On one hand, the pandemic could be seen to be a catastrophic tragedy, due to the loss of connection with nearly all the things that make up the common teenage experience. On the other hand, there is an opportunity to transform that dreadful experience into something constructive.

"While the world weeps there are still sparks of invention, creativity, and hope," Holstein stated. "Vaccines made in amazing haste, a new process developed for vaccines that may ultimately make humans close to virus free! Art, music, new and old connections with each other and new forms of communication. Perhaps the most startling has been Zoom and Zoom type platforms. Invented for the business world particularly, Zoom has helped the rest of us stay sane at times and joyful at other times and just able to feel we are connected to those we care about.

"Yet Zoom has served another purpose. Zoom has allowed actors, writers, musicians to keep up their skills and share their material. For me as a Positive Psychologist and a filmmaker, Zoom has been amazing. It has given me a platform to do dramatic readings of my three scripts that look at love in couplehood in all its complicated dimensions.

"The first of three scripts, 'Life is Complicated' gets right to the heart of early marriage. Any of us that have been there know how hard it really is to get comfortable with another on an intimate basis. Once the joy and lust fade a bit, we are just humans trying to figure things out. The second and third Zoom dramas in the ‘Trilogy of Love’ series also focus on couples. However, these couples have been married more years and are now dealing the other issues of connection that come up, particularly the ways we stay romantically involved, which can include the use of fantasy. ‘I Had an Affair or Did I?’ and ‘I Had an Affair with my Husband’ and ‘Life is Complicated’ have already been selected and won over 20 awards at film festivals and competitions as film scripts. I am just beginning to send these Zoom productions out to film festivals as experimental filming developed during the Pandemic. You can see one of my three zoom dramas, 'Life is Complicated' on Vimeo at: https://vimeo.com/445270427."

Month after month for the last few years Dr. Holstein has been winning award after award for her "selfies as drama" conceptual films - over 100 to date. These are not just selfie films. They have at their core positive psychology principles that only Dr. Holstein can bring to the table.

Dr. Holstein's cutting-edge presentations, most recently based on the Covid-19 pandemic issues, can be found on both YouTube, Vimeo and on the Roku channel and Amazon Fire TV, titled as 'The Enchanted Self Presents'.

Dr. Holstein recently created The Selfie Showcase, a new project emerging from The Selfie Project, that allows young people to voice their opinions on subjects that matter to young people. She is now accepting submissions from the public for the "Selfie Showcase" and is actively seeking change-makers and mental health professionals to appear on her monthly video podcasts.

The Selfie Showcase allows kids, teens, and young adults ages 13 to 18 to candidly express their concerns, worries, observations and possible solutions by creating selfie videos or films around important subjects, using a smartphone. Dr. Holstein's mission is to help rectify, in several ways, some of the issues young people face by giving them a chance to engage with others in meaningful ways about the anxiety and stress they must grapple with constantly.

Selected participants may appear on the Selfie Project Channel, available on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3uaOTcYF70z5CpBh11VoUQ. They will also appear in the Selfie Showcase on SelfieFilmmakers.com. They will receive a certificate of merit and may be invited to be on Holstein's monthly podcast or perhaps be a part of her next film. Full details, rules for submission and helpful hints can be accessed at the Selfie Filmmakers site at http://www.selfiefilmmakers.com/instructions.

Dr. Holstein's unique Selfie Films have taken many awards and have been shown in many film festivals and competitions. A full list can be found at SelfieFilmmakers.com.

Holstein's podcast series is actively seeking change-makers and visionaries to appear on her monthly podcasts. Dr. Holstein hopes to feature members of traditional media, mental health professionals and educators who can make a real difference in the lives of young people. Many of the podcasts feature young people - to give them a voice regarding their concerns and their solutions. Guests, if accepted, can arrange to appear by contacting Dr. Holstein directly.

Award Winning Author Jody Sharpe Announces New Christmas Book, ‘Town Of Angels Christmas’, Addresses Prejudice, Racism And Cruelty

Sharpe's latest book will feature characters from her last book about angels, ‘Town Of Angels’. She also announced a new video about angels on her video channel, which features angel stories and stories from her experience working with special needs children.

Award winning author Jody Sharpe has announced a new release in time for Christmas, 2021. The new book, ‘Town of Angels Christmas’, features the same town and many of the characters from her previous book, ‘Town of Angels’. Sharpe has interacted directly with angels and it has changed her life. Her mission in life is to offer us proof of the existence of angels. She does this through her books, her blog and now through videos via her Youtube channel.

In announcing the new book, Sharpe stated, "Creating Mystic Bay, a town where angels live as humans has been my greatest joy in writing. I’ve always loved Christmas and so I’m in the process of writing the fourth in the Mystic Bay Series. It will be a book filled with all the same endearing characters and feature Angel Ken as the main character. Of course, there will be themes from today. Ken, an African American man I met on a plane a few years ago who worried about racism in America, inspired me to write him as a main endearing character to love. I wrote him as an angel living a human experience. Town Of Angels Christmas will feature the people of Mystic Bay showing the world prejudice and cruelty are not tolerated in their town. With love and guidance other characters will be ready for change."

In addition, Jody recently posted a new video to her Youtube channel, titled 'Jody Sharpe, Angels in Real Life'. Her video channel features angel stories and stories from her experience working with special needs children.

One of Jody's stories was recently published in a book in the Chicken Soup For The Soul series, ‘Listen To Your Dreams’. As a result, she was mentioned in a recent podcast, 'Listen to Your Dreams – Six Ways You Can Use Your Dreams for Personal Transformation, Chicken Soup for the Soul with Amy Newmark Apple Podcasts'. More information is available at her website at http://jodysharpe.com.

Jody spreads her messages about angels in a number of ways. She has written a series of books about real life angels in everyday situations. She has written a children's book about angels interacting with children. Her latest book, ‘Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder’, centers on special needs children. She also accepts angels stories from the public for the 'Tuesdays With The Angels' section of her blog. Her video channel brings all of this together, offering segments on all of these topics. One topic of special interest is bullying, specifically as it relates to special needs children.

'Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder' is a memoir based on her twenty-five years teaching children with special needs. The book is as entertaining as it is illuminating. It’s a love story about the special students and others who over the years graced her life with just that, their grace.

With hearts of angels and challenges to face, the children took Sharpe along their journeys and inspired her own life’s journey of self-discovery. When sorrow came, their kindness helped her through. The synchronicity of events from high school to retirement changed her life for the better, turning her face toward heaven.

One Amazon review stated, "This book should be required reading for all teaching students; not just special needs teachers. This book has so much value in demonstrating the positive affects that teachers can have on students, and also the blessings that students provide to their teachers. It would show new teachers personal benefits which they may have not yet realized. It is heart-warming and adorable.; absolutely enjoyable for everyone. It is short, but effective, and I am sure that many other teachers have examples they could add . . ."

‘Special Needs Children’ follows her recently released children's book about angels, ‘When The Angel Sent Butterflies’. The new book helps children understand that love from their parents and others surrounds them. Love conquers fear and believing that angels are near can help sweep any childhood fear away. This concept is presented in the book when Angel Ken sends Jones and Kate butterflies. The book, appropriate for ages 2 to 7, is now available at Amazon and Ingram.

On the 'Tuesdays With The Angels' section of her site, Sharpe presents stories of real life encounters with angels. The stories are available at Sharpe's website at http://www.jodysharpe.com.

In Sharpe's earlier, highly acclaimed novels, angels take on human form and interact with humanity in a variety of ways:

Town of Angels - It is angel vs. bully in the town of Mystic Bay, California, where a well kept secret lies. Angels live as humans there. After angels appeared to three children all was blissful in the town full of psychics, and ordinary folk. But as a bully, Klaus Waxman, comes to town, Angel Ken Leighton, a storeowner, must carefully guide his flock of humans not to give to in to the bully’s efforts. As Klaus opens a store mocking the resident angels sightings, Angel Ken guides psychic Justine Greer and her family to thwart his efforts. And with the help of the indomitable oldest psychic in town, Madam Norma, the bully meets his match with soft voices and intuitive minds…

To Catch An Angel - Jody is also the author of 'To Catch An Angel', written in memory of her late husband Steve. In 'To Catch An Angel', miracles happen in Mystic Bay, California, the town with the psychic and angel vibe. Angels are calling. Psychic Maggie Malone returns home to find she's swept up in the miracle of it all. She can't imagine why her mother left or who her father might be. But these questions pale in comparison to the wonder of the angels. Maggie meets writer, Noah Greenstreet. They realize they've met before, but where? Maggie and Noah embark on a journey to find our world is all awash with angels.

The Angel's Daughter - A secret lies in Mystic Bay, California and only two people know it. First there’s Hannah, a tender curly headed half Angel Then there’s her father, Gabe, an effervescent, teddy bear of a full-blooded angel. And it’s up to Hannah to keep the secret safe but she’s made a colossal mistake telling her ex-boyfriend and writing professor, Sam Blakely. Now he’s written a book exposing the secret to the world.

Sharpe hopes to create a collection of angel stories that involve sightings of angels, interaction with angels, miraculous angel encounters and other types of accounts or stories. Everyone is welcome to submit angel stories. All submissions will be considered, but inclusion is not guaranteed. Stories may be submitted at http://bit.ly/2FV8amd.

Rain Falls On The Just And The Unjust Says Donna Louis, Award Winning Author Of 'Thriving In Every Season Of Life With God'

Louis is the multi-award-winning author of three inspirational Christian books. Louis’ books reveal God’s desire for our happiness and joy.

If God really is in charge of running the universe, why does he create trouble for good people? That question has been with us for centuries. It is perplexing. It's not logical. Yet there could be something here we don't yet see. That question was recently answered in an article on Donna Louis' website, titled "Rain Falls On The Just And The Unjust." The article reads in part:

As much as Christians or believers of God would like to believe that just because we acknowledge God in our lives, we should never have any sorrow - that is untrue. We will all have challenges, disappointments and unfair situations arise in our lives. We are to trust, have faith and believe that God has our back and will keep us lifted above, fight our battles and always cause us to triumph. You must pass these tests and when you do God will take you to the next level.

The full text is available at Louis' website at http://www.miraclebook.net.

"Life is peaks and valleys and no one will escape having times in their lives when they are abased and also when they are abounding," Louis stated. "When it rains the clouds grow dark and the rain falls on everyone. Even if you have an umbrella you can be sure if there is the slightest wind it will tilt the umbrella and some rain will undoubtedly fall on you. This is the way it is in life, even if you try to do your best and treat people fairly you will meet challenges. Sometimes you will escape them and other times you won't."

"God never promised a blissful life he just said, 'Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.' - Isaiah 41:10. People sometimes will hurt you or try to do you wrong. It's just life. If Jesus suffered, who are we not to suffer?

"I recently had an encounter with some people who were trying to scam me but fortunately, I have been blessed with a mentor who was able to steer me away from the situation which could have been very costly. Another time several years ago I was not so fortunate and it cost me $6000.00 with a firm I was doing business with that just closed its doors and filed bankruptcy. None of us will ever be able to just glide on the ice like figure skaters and hockey players do and never fall - they do. Yes it hurts, yes it is unfair but God will always make our wrongs right. 'God makes everything come out right; he puts victims back on their feet.' - Psalm 103:6."

In her latest book, 'Thriving In Every Season Of Life With God', Louis presents the idea that we experience "seasons" in life, in much the same way as nature experiences seasons, with periods of both growth and decline. When we understand that, we come to see that a period of decline is not something permanent, but instead merely foreshadows a period of growth. The book, somewhat similar to the books found in 'Chicken Soup For The Soul' collections, is highly motivational and packed with powerful and engaging stories that give the reader examples of illuminating situations drawn from the lives of both Biblical-era and modern day people

Louis is also the author of 'Book of Proverbs, Wisdom vs. Wilderness', which delves deeply into the timeless human quest for wisdom. As all Christians know, the primary purpose of the Biblical Book of Proverbs is to teach wisdom. The Book of Proverbs provides intellectual depth, insights and exceptional wisdom on how to live a meaningful, joyful and tranquil life by honoring and respecting God as omnipotent.

'Book Of Proverbs' discusses all chapters in Proverbs 1-31 and brings insight, clarity, and basic meaning to several verses in each chapter. It clarifies why wisdom is not only essential, but mandatory in life, if one hopes to live a blessed life, versus living destitute, empty, or feeling lost or hopeless.

Donna Louis' first book, 'Miracles of Direction, Miracles of Conquest, Miracles of Provision and Miracles of Purpose' helps readers explore miracles both past and present. The book explores biblical miracles that took place while Jesus was here on earth. She then references with miracles that take place on a daily basis in the modern world. She separates these miracles into four categories and presents insightful examples of each type, taken directly from the Bible.

Louis knows her subject well, as she has personally experienced four miracles. As the result of those life-altering experiences, she began an in-depth study of some of Christianity's most well-documented miracles. In her book, she attempts to expand upon and explain both the purpose and the direction of those miracles.

Louis has won a number of industry awards. She was chosen as the winner in the 2018 Top Female Author Awards in the Religion/Philosophy/Spiritual category. Louis was chosen from an international field of contestants by a panel of judges. She was also a winner in the 2018 50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading Awards.

Louis' recent wins follow three awards in the 50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading Awards contest (2015, 2016 and 2017), and two nominations in the Top Female Authors Awards.

'Miracles' has received rave reviews from readers. One review called it "amazing, uplifting and inspirational". Another stated, "I was profoundly impressed by the writing."

An Insider's View Of The Lebanon Disaster - New Interview By Award Winning Author Frances Fuller

Frances Fuller puts a face on the Middle East many Americans have not yet seen. Her award-winning memoir, 'In Borrowed Houses', gives readers a penetrating glimpse of the Middle East from the inside.

Multi-award winning author Frances Fuller has announced a new interview in which she discusses the predicament in Lebanon and the situation in the Middle East in a broader sense. Fuller is uniquely qualified to provide us with penetrating insights into both, especially the people of Lebanon, having spent many years there during the Lebanon civil war and the Syrian invasion.

The recent cataclysmic explosion in Lebanon wreaked havoc upon both Lebanon and her people. Since the explosion, the situation has become even more dire, as critical resources, supplies and other forms of assistance have often been diverted or lost completely due to a notoriously corrupt system. In her interview, Fullers lays out both the challenges and some possible solutions to help pull a collapsing state back from the brink. Fuller's interview, as powerful as it is penetrating, will help clarify why it is imperative that the US and other countries take action now.

Immediately following the explosion, after French President Macron called for a meeting of international leaders to discuss aid to Lebanon, Fuller asked numerous Lebanese citizens for their advice to this group. All of them expressed distrust of the government, asking that aid be given directly to those who needed it, and all agreed that they desire “… a non-sectarian regime, with uncorrupt leaders and neutrality among the nations.” Some advised, “…do not flood the country with help to the point where our politicians are once again buoyed up and given a second wind. The anger on the street this time has to bring deep and permanent change.”

The new interview is available at her website at http://www.francesfullerauthor.com.

The Syrian occupation of Lebanon during that country’s long civil war is part of Fuller’s experience in the Middle East, related in her memoir. Told in short episodes, Fuller’s book reveals the alienation, confusion and courage of civilians in the Lebanese civil war, introducing to the reader a variety of real people with whom the author interacts: editors, salesmen, neighbors, refugees, soldiers, missionaries, lawyers, shepherds, artists, students. With these people she works, studies, plays games, prays, laughs and cries, all to the accompaniment of gunfire. Together these small stories tell what war is like for civilians caught on a battlefield, and they create the impression of the Lebanese as a fun-loving, witty, patient and resilient people. Fuller's stories compose not a political history, but a historical document of a time and a place.

'In Borrowed Houses' has taken three industry awards. Frances Fuller was the Grand Prize winner in the 2015 '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' Book Awards. It received the bronze medal for memoir in the Illumination Book Awards in 2014. Northern California Publishers and Authors annually gives awards for literature produced by residents of the area. In 2015 'In Borrowed Houses' received two prizes: Best Non-fiction and Best Cover.

Critics have praised ‘In Borrowed Houses.’ A judge in the 22nd Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards called 'In Borrowed Houses' “ . . a well written book full of compassion . . . a captivating story . . . ”. Another reviewer described the book as “Wise, honest, sensitive, funny, heart-wrenching . . .”. Colin Chapman, lecturer in Islamic Studies at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut said, “ . . . western Christians and Middle Eastern Christians need to read this story…full of remarkable perceptiveness and genuine hope.”

Frances Fuller is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at frances0516@att.net. The full text of her latest article is available at her website. Fuller's book is available at Amazon and other book retailers. A free ebook sample from 'In Borrowed Houses' is available at http://www.payhip.com/francesfuller. Frances Fuller also blogs on other issues relating to the Middle East on her website at http://www.inborrowedhouseslebanon.com.

About Frances Fuller:

Frances Fuller spent thirty years in the violent Middle East and for twenty-four of those years was the director of a Christian publishing program with offices in Lebanon. While leading the development of spiritual books in the Arabic language, she survived long years of civil war and invasions.

Police Community Relations Program, CPOP, Takes Center Stage In New NYPD Fiction Novel By Vincent Casale, Beat Cop CPOP 1986

Casale's new book presents a fictional account of the day to day experience of a New York City policeman assigned to the CPOP Unit, written by an NYPD police officer who was a part of the program in the 1980's.

The phrase 'police/community relations' holds a different meaning today than the same phrase as it was used in the 1980's. Today, that phrase has somewhat of a pessimistic feel to it, due to current events that are played out across every form of media we have, most with headlines designed to provide shock value. Granted the relationship between police and the communities they serve is less than perfect today, but this was not always so.

The original Community Patrol Officer Program allowed "beat cops" to get to know their local communities from within, and would often be responsible for stopping crimes before they happened. The focus was on relationships and communication. Police officers were able to move beyond being seen as uniforms, and instead became integral parts of these local communities. This community-based mindset, versus an "us vs them" posture, greatly changed the way people saw and interacted with the NYPD.

In 'Beat Cop CPOP 1986', Vincent Casale has drawn deeply on his personal experience, having been one of the first NYPD officers assigned to the unit.

Neither a detective novel nor a crime novel, Beat Cop CPOP-1986 is a revealing tale of young New York City policeman assigned to the newly implemented Community Patrol Officers Program. The concept of CPOP was to advance police /community relations by putting the cop back on the beat, door to door, store to store. The male protagonists are flawed men, using unnecessary cynicism and hedonistic night-life adventures to shield their emotions. The female lead, Ann Caputo, is born wired to believe she can make a difference in a professional world dominated by male ego. Will that stay true when she can’t protect herself from a violent assault and the guilt that engulfs her?

Frank Colleri and his policemen cohorts are a study in the psychology of young cops facing danger, enduring conflict, and learning empathy or staying devoid of feeling. They own issues of divorce, drinking, and machismo, all while witnessing the worst in life.

When the Police Commissioner learns of sexual assaults occurring in his daughter’s neighborhood, he orders all CPOP members to help detectives with individual cases, by converging on and aiding crime victims.

"This book was years in the making and will take many a reader back to the 1980s and a glimpse into the psyche of young cops," Casale stated. "It is not a detective novel or chasing bad guys adventure. It is simply a year in the life of young policemen assigned to the NYPD Cpop Unit.

"Beat Cop of course, was initially written for entertainment in the way of Pulp Fiction. Interestingly enough, the current state of affairs regarding police and community interactions is also a theme in my book. There is an insight to the young policemen who travel from their Long Island suburban homes to work in the so-called multi-cultured mine-fields of New York City.People and places with various cultural backgrounds they had never encountered. CPOP was formed for this purpose 30 years ago and the elements of that program still apply today in an attempt to put a band-aid on police and community relations.”

Casale is also the author of The Coparazzi, a memoir of his experience with celebrities while assigned to the NYPD's Movie and TV Unit from 1989 - 1992. During those years he worked on set with hundreds of celebrities, including Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Robin Williams, Hallee Berry, Cindy Crawford and many more.

The Coparazzi has received rave reviews from readers and reviewers alike. Ed Dee, retired NYPD Lieutenant stated, "This is not just another cop book. No way. In this well written and fast paced story Vincent Casale takes the reader behind the yellow tape of scores of movies and tv shows shot on the streets of NYC. From his unique perspective Casale shows the reader how it’s done and we see virtually every major actor in unguarded, off camera, and entirely human moments. The author writes with the infectious enthusiasm of a movie fan, but he sees with the clear eyes of a cop. A great combination, a great read.”

Vincent Casale is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at vcarazzi@outlook.com. Both books are available at online book retailers. Beat Cop CPOP 1986 is also available from Van Velser Press. More information is available at his website at https://thecoparazzi538162347.wordpress.com/.

About Vincent Casale:

Vincent Casale is a retired NYC police officer with 20 years of service. From the years 1989 through 1992 he worked in NYPD’s elite Movie-TV Unit. During that time he was privy to the exciting world of movie making on the streets of New York. A life-long movie fan, he was happy to be a small part of “Hollywood on the Hudson”.

WWII Planes, Everyday Heroes and The Pacific Air War Featured In Gripping WWII Novel, A Snowball's Chance, By Author Tom Burkhalter

Tom Burkhalter writes gripping stories in the tradition of James Jones, W.E.B. Griffin and C.S. Forester, that share a no-nonsense view towards war and an attention to substance that is extraordinary.

Author Tom Burkhalter has announced the release of a new WWII novel, A Snowball's Chance: A novel of the Pacific Air War January-February 1942. WWII aviation again takes center stage in this historical fiction novel, the second book in the No Merciful War Series.

All of Burkhalter's books are enhanced by a level of technical and historical detail that is unparalleled. He maintains a laser-sharp focus on providing the reader with an experience that will take them into the very heart and soul of WWII.

In A Snowball’s Chance, the victorious Japanese are coming south in overwhelming numbers. The Allies send Jack and Charlie Davis and their friends, outnumbered and in obsolescent airplanes, to help the British and Dutch attempt to stop the Japanese Army and Navy. As the Dutch say, “Luck to the fighters.”

Burkhalter has received rave reviews for all of his books. Harold Coyle, author of Team Yankee, said, "Brilliant! The books that are part of Tom Burkhalter’s ‘No Merciful War’ series are, without exception, rare gems that are entertaining, historically spot on, and a joy to read. Tom has not only created a cast of characters who are as real as the officers and enlisted men I have had the privilege of serving with, he leaves you wanting to see more of them. Even more impressive is his ability to succinctly depict the tactical and technical aspects of aerial combat. A must read for anyone interested in the Pacific War when victory was far from certain."

Another reviewer said, “Buy it, read it and tell everyone you know. Tom Burkhalter is as good as Clancy and Griffin.” Mark Lardas, writing in the Daily News of Galveston County, wrote of Everything We Had that it “feels like a book which could have been written in the 1950s or 1960s by a veteran of the Pacific War.”

“Growing up I loved the classic frontier stories and heroes of that great writer, Louis L’Amour. Now, in my own writing, I hope to inspire the reader with that same sense of the frontier and heroic struggle in the war-torn skies of the SW Pacific.” –Tom Burkhalter

Other books by Tom Burkhalter include:

Everything We Had: a Novel of the Southwest Pacific Air War, November-December 1941

Japan surrounds American possessions in the Philippines with overwhelming force on three sides. The US Army desperately attempts to reinforce the Philippines garrison, but the armed forces of Imperial Japan may attack at any moment. Two brothers, Jack and Charlie Davis, are pilots in the US Army Air Forces. When they are sent to the Far Eastern Air Forces in the Philippines, they must depend on every ounce of courage, training, and skill they have to survive the coming war.

A Snowball’s Chance: a Novel of the Pacific Air War, January-February 1942

The victorious Japanese come south in overwhelming numbers, heading for the rich oil fields of Dutch possessions in Java and Borneo. The Allies send Jack and Charlie Davis and their friends, outnumbered and in obsolescent airplanes at the end of a long vulnerable supply line, to help the British and Dutch attempt to stop the Japanese Army and Navy. As the Dutch say, “Luck to the fighters!”

Boxcar Red Leader: a Novel of the Pacific Air War, May 1942

The Imperial Japanese Navy sails to invade Port Moresby, the last Allied base between the Japanese and Australia. It the Japanese take Port Moresby, Australia’s supply line to the United States will be cut. Jack Davis is sent to Port Moresby to command a flight of untrained young pilots flying a dangerous airplane no one wants, the P-39D Airacobra. Charlie Davis, now flying the B-17E Bronco Buster II, flies dangerous reconnaissance missions looking for the Japanese fleet. The Allies have lost the Philippines and Java. Can they hold Port Moresby?

Thanks for the Memories: a Novel of the SW Pacific Air War, July-September 1942

The Japanese invade Papua New Guinea’s north coast to try to capture Port Moresby overland. Still outnumbered, improvising repairs to their tattered airplanes and suffering from jungle diseases, the Americans and Australians fight in the air and on the ground as the Japanese slog over the Kokoda Track through the rugged Owen Stanley Mountains, with the prize of Port Moresby before them. The fighting, in the air and on the ground, nears a last-ditch effort for the Allies.

The New Kids: a Novel of the Air War on the Home Front, September 1942

Jack and Charlie Davis have survived nine months of vicious air fighting. When they get home new challenges wait for them, challenges of long-deferred love, of living with memories, and the responsibilities laid on combat-proven pilots and leaders as new pilots arrive to train for a different air war over Europe. They survived the Pacific, but the war has only begun.

Shoestring's End: a Novel of the Pacific Air War, Dec 1942 - March 1943

Shoestring’s End begins as the disastrous year of 1942 ends. The Japanese toehold on the northern New Guinea coast, remnant of their advance almost to the gates of Port Moresby, has nearly been wiped out. The Japanese focus their efforts on reinforcing their forward base at Lae, on the Huon Gulf. The mission of the 5th Air Force is to cut off Lae. They must do this while fighting at the end of a shoestring, a supply line ten thousand miles long, using airplanes like the much-patched B-17E Bronco Buster II or the worn P-39D Airacobras of the 35th Fighter Group. New airplanes and new tactics arrive in an uncertain trickle. The Allied infantry, Australian and American, based in New Guinea, are exhausted from fighting and jungle diseases. If the Japanese reinforce Lae, the outcome of the war in the SW Pacific will remain unpredictable.
