Reduced Pricing On Ebook Version Of New Amish Romance Novel, Second Chance Inn, Announced By Bestselling Author Marlayne Giron

In the tradition of Stephen Lawhead and Elizabeth Chadwick, Marlayne Giron writes epic fantasy fiction centered around traditional Christian values. Her work has been compared to Lord of the Rings and the Chronicles of Narnia. She is considered to be a great new voice in Christian Fiction and writes fiction with a mission.

If you like Amish romance novels, now is the time to grab a copy of bestselling author Marlayne Giron's latest ebook, 'Second Chance Inn'. The ebook will be available January 2 through January 4, 2023 for 99 cents.

The Amish romance genre opens a window into a simpler existence, a profound departure from our bustling, fast-paced modern reality. These books can be a portal to a world where horse-drawn carriages gracefully traverse landscapes, and the essence of family takes center stage. 'Second Chance Inn' deftly weaves a narrative that breathes fresh life into the traditional framework.

Rachel Winston is suddenly and tragically widowed in her early 30s. She and her adopted, teenaged daughter, Karen, are forced to leave everything behind in Southern California. She purchases an Amish farmhouse in Lancaster County, PA to open an Amish-style Bed & Breakfast Inn. The farmhouse she purchases was put on the market by a young Amish widower, Samuel Miller, who recently lost his wife and five children in a buggy accident. He has moved into the Dawdi house to maintain the farm and Rachel happily cooks, cleans, and does his laundry in exchange for his help.

Thrown together by tragic loss, their mutual suffering draws them together against the rules of his community. Solace and friendship soon turn into something deeper, putting him at great risk for shunning. Rachel struggles to adapt while her daughter finds it easier to fit in to the Amish lifestyle.

Will Rachel succeed in becoming Amish so she can be with Samuel, or will their blossoming relationship doom them both as outcasts?

Second Chance Inn will be available at Amazon for 99 cents January 2 through January 4, 2023 at https://www.amazon.com/stores/Marlayne-Giron/author/B09YQPRVL7?ref=ap_rdr&store_ref=ap_rdr&isDramIntegrated=true&shoppingPortalEnabled=true

Giron's bestselling Christian Fantasy Fiction e-book, 'The Victor', was heavily influenced by Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. In the tradition of Stephen Lawhead and Elizabeth Chadwick, Marlayne Giron writes epic fantasy fiction centered around traditional Christian values. Her work has been compared to 'The Chronicles of Narnia' and has an endorsement by New York Times bestselling author Tosca Lee on the front cover.

Destined to become a classic, the new book is an inspirational historical fantasy fiction book written for ages 12 and up. This spellbinding tale is set apart from other Christian fiction books by her subtle but powerful method of presenting Christian principles embedded in a majestic adventure that is gripping, riveting, and engaging for readers of any age. It is perfect as a home school resource for both English and history curriculum.

As noted on Giron's website, a companion lesson plan is available for advanced Language Arts students in upper middle school through high school. The Lesson Plan explores the language and Biblical symbolism of the novel and works especially well for Christian homeschoolers. Because the Christian Bible plays such a powerful role in history and sociology, the book is recommended for non-Christians as well.

The student workbook is available at no charge at Giron’s website at https://thevictorbook.com/download-the-free-student-workbook-and-chivalry-studies/.

Readers and reviewers have praised The Victor. Robert Heath, Founder and Director of Kids for Christ/USA, stated, "The Victor is an absolute 'literary masterpiece' that should be required reading in High Schools across the land. In fact, if there was a required reading list for Christians, The Victor would have to be on it."

NY Time bestselling author Tosca Lee said, "The Victor is an epic adventure of love, loss, and triumph over evil. Giron’s characters leap off the page into medieval battles, jousts, quests, and romance. Fans of Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, and medieval fantasy will not want to miss out on this classic tale!"

Karen Koch, former editor of the Christian Home Educators Association of California Magazine stated, "I loved this book. The author had me at castles, sword fights, and a gentle romance, but the novel reveals an eternal story of good vs. evil that is much deeper than just what’s on the surface. Middle and high school students (and their parents) will love this account of adventure, drama, betrayal, sacrifice, and ultimate victory."

Kathi Macias, bestselling author of nearly sixty books said, "Author Marlayne Giron has woven together a fast-paced adventure and a tender love story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats, even as they are caught up in the lives of believable characters, both good and evil. The Victor will introduce – or reintroduce – readers to the majestic story of the Bible, a story of love, redemption, and victory. Though aimed at high-school aged readers, adults will be captivated by it as well. Highly recommended!"

The Victor is available at Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Marlayne-Giron/e/B09YQPRVL7/ref=dp_byline_cont_pop_book_1.

Marlayne Giron is available for media interviews. She can be reached using the information below, or by email at mmgiron@yahoo.com. Both of her books are available at Amazon. More information is available at Giron's website at https://thevictorbook.com.

Now Is The Time To Ask: Should I Stay Or Should I Go In 2024? Says Top Motivational Speaker And Best Selling Author Rocky Romanella

A highly sought keynote speaker, trainer and Forbes Contributor, Romanella is founder and principal of 3SIXTY Management Services, LLC. He has over 40 years of leadership at Fortune 100's and most recently served as Chief Executive Officer and Director for UniTek Global Services, after retiring from a 36-year career with UPS.

It is in our nature to think of new beginnings when we approach a new year. Some of us embrace the chance to redefine our journey, seeking not just a fresh start but a dynamic leap forward. We’re stoked and ready to go. Others are not so sure, are satisfied with the status quo perhaps, or see no need to strive for improvement. Bestselling author and top motivational speaker Rocky Romanella believes the question we all must ask is: Should I stay or should I go in 2024. He recently addressed this question in a newsletter article. In that article, he said in part:

This is a question we wrestle with often in both our personal and professional lives. Once we answer that question - do we stay, or do we go? - it will unlock the view of our next steps. I have always been a “We Should Go” person. This sets the wheels in motion and will begin to develop a compelling vision and strategy for the organization and its units going forward. We will need to understand both the short-term and long-term view, and the view of both the organization's strengths, challenges, and opportunities.

The 100-Day Plan is the vehicle to drive your vision and strategy.

In this newsletter, we answer the question, "Do We Stay, or Do We Go?" with the view of "Going!" I would like to talk about the importance of the strategic questions to ask yourself and your team. These will be the foundational pieces, and how you answer these questions will impact your strategy, vision, and approach that will be executed through the 100-Day Plan and beyond.

Here are some examples of the questions you can ask yourself or your team as you begin the implementation process of the 100-Day Plan.

   * Am I, (are we), a business and/or leader who initially went through years of successive growth but have now reached a standstill?

   * Are we in a critical year of our strategic plan?

   * From our experience, do we have the right approach on how to boost growth and “restart our revenue engines”?

Another soul-searching question to ask yourself and your team prior to the implementation of the 100-Day Plan is, "Do We Have Organizational Agility?"

   * We know, respect, and leverage the company culture and assets.

   * We lead integrated change within a business unit to achieve sustainable competitive advantage.

   * We utilize teams intentionally and appropriately to focus leaders on building an enterprise that creates profit and generates business with the ultimate objective of delivering an attractive return on shareholder investment.

   * We aim to develop leaders who can "see around corners" to anticipate changes in market conditions and proactively position the company for future competitive advantage.

   * Finally, we must constantly remind leaders that the company expects sound judgment from those in whom it places trust and that this should be demonstrated to all through their actions.

Traditionally, a new year gives us an opportunity for a fresh start, but there are times during the year when we need a jump start. However, like New Year's resolutions, the best-laid business plans can easily be forgotten when we get caught up in the day-to-day activities that require us to put out fires and wrestle with ongoing business challenges. Armed with the answers to these questions and an approach you have vetted with your team, the 100-Day Plan is the vehicle, the blueprint for an implementation process that is both powerful in approach and elegant in its simplicity. It is your answer to the question, "Do we go?"

The 100-Day Plan is based on my concept of Balanced Leadership. The three components in Balanced Leadership are your company’s customers, employees, and stakeholders. All of this is built on a framework that puts less emphasis on "doing things right" and instead focuses on "doing the right thing" for those three groups.

The Children Of The World Deserve A Wonderful Life Says Jody Sharpe, Bestselling Author Of The Mystic Bay Series

As a former teacher of special needs children, Sharpe has direct experience regarding the effect bullying has on children. Her award-winning, bestselling books help readers find hope, inspiration and gratitude.

We are naturally appalled when we begin to realize what kind of world we will be handing off to our children - never-ending wars, schools shootings, climate change, social media, bullying - is this what we want for those future generations - our kids?

We can say the world is what it is, and it's a tough place to be. But that's the easy way out. We could instead believe in the inherent good in people and see these issues as aberrations - believing that there is something beyond ourselves that can empower us to confront these challenges with a sense of inner strength and fortitude.

Bestselling author Jody Sharpe does not merely believe this "something beyond" exists - she knows it. And she has seen first-hand its power to change lives for the better. She recently addressed this in several articles posted on her site. In those articles she said in part:

It’s A Wonderful Life has always been my favorite holiday movie. Maybe it’s because the theme of the film is truly about love and kindness and how it changes everything. In the film, an angel comes to change George’s life. George is a man who wants to end his life as the bully in the town has seemingly ruined the family business. Clarence, the angel, appears showing George what life would have been like if George had never been born. In the end George realizes his unselfish kindness to the townsfolk and his family has saved the business and that he really does have a Wonderful Life.

I encountered an angel once long ago when hope seemed gone after my daughter died. The angel, like Clarence, appeared human to me and comforted me with his words. He seemingly disappeared and I realized it had been a true miracle in my life. I knew then putting my family first was paramount. Life had to go on and my children needed me more that ever.

I believe we must give our children a wonderful life as best we can. Through the wartorn world now, the children must be at the forefront of every adults mind. The children are the world’s future. They watch us, they learn from us. They can learn love or they can learn that bullying, another word for hate, is okay. Bullying has no place in our world. We must nuture our children as best we can. Just as George’s town helped him thwart the bully with their kindness, every child deserves protection from the hate in the world.

I believe angels come when we need them the most. They come to us with a spoken word or a smile. Some angels appear human and some have actually appeared with wings to many of us. I know in my heart that the love light the angels bring us is real. It’s from a higher power, which is God to me.

In these times of trouble in the world, when hate and bullying try to dominate everyone’s thinking, I believe in my heart that thinking about angels and asking for their help truly can change a moment. I pray the angels will help all the children across the world. I pray for their chance to be free, for their peace, for their laughter and song to lift up to heaven. I pray that if we all visualize the world at peace, it will help all of our days and nights. I pray for a world where our grandchildren will be safe, where hate is replaced by love and the bullies of the world will finally see the light of angels and learn what I know to be true.

The full text of the articles is available at http://jodysharpe.com/blog/.

Sharpe's message resonates with readers, offering a beacon of hope. She passionately champions the transformative influence of uplifting literature, which can provide a ray of optimism in the face of depression and anxiety. Her anti-bullying message illuminates a path towards healing and resilience. Readers will discover in her books a profound shift in perspective that will carry over into their daily lives. They serve as an invitation to view the world through a different lens, one that empowers us to find the strength within to see the good in all people.

Her most recent work, 20 Moon Road, An Angel's Tale, features a character from her Mystic Bay series, Madam Norma. Madam Norma is based on a woman who influenced Sharpe's life in a number of unforgettable ways.

Diane Donovan at Midwest Book Review stated, "Do angels come to children with special needs? In Mystic Bay, they do. As the truth emerges about the town's makeup, history, and mission, readers become immersed in a spiritual story of angels and beliefs that drive positive changes and kindness in the world and spread beyond the small town of angels.

"Sharpe's Mystic Bay series embodies hope, belief, the power of conviction and angel influences, and the acts of kindness that lead humanity on a better, gentler path. 20 Moon Road's revelations of relationships with Madame Norma that changed lives and transformed beliefs through documented angel sightings by special needs children makes for a warm tale of revelation and discovery that explores guardian angels, lasting legacies, and blessings.

"Libraries and readers looking for blends of fantasy and spiritual examination will welcome the Mystic Bay series as a whole and this latest addition in particular, which expands the nature, purposes, and insights of Mystic Bay upon the larger world outside its borders."

Mark Walker of Midwest Book Review said, "The last paragraph reflects the unique vision and mysticism, which exudes throughout this book:

As we fly away from the beach on a mission to help someone in need, I know what God and all angels know and what Madam Norma always shared. Only love can mend our hearts and our Earth. Only love can set us free. Madam Norma's life was simply made of pure love, for as she told me once, 'Kindness is the first ingredient of love.'

"I look forward to someday seeing the Mystic Bay Series on the Hallmark TV channel!"

Books by Jody Sharpe include:

To Catch an Angel - Jody is also the author of 'To Catch an Angel', written in memory of her late husband Steve. In 'To Catch an Angel', miracles happen in Mystic Bay, California, the town with the psychic and angel vibe. Angels are calling. Psychic Maggie Malone returns home to find she's swept up in the miracle of it all. She can't imagine why her mother left or who her father might be. But these questions pale in comparison to the wonder of the angels. Maggie meets writer, Noah Greenstreet. They realize they've met before, but where? Maggie and Noah embark on a journey to find our world is all awash with angels.

The Angel's Daughter - A secret lies in Mystic Bay, California, and only two people know it. First, there’s Hannah, a tender curly-headed half-angel. Then there’s her father, Gabe, an effervescent, teddy bear of a full-blooded angel. And it’s up to Hannah to keep the secret safe, but she’s made a colossal mistake telling her ex-boyfriend and writing professor, Sam Blakely. Now he's written a book exposing the secret to the world.

Town Of Angels - Angel vs. Bully in the town of Mystic Bay, California, where a well-kept secret lies. Angels live as humans there. After angels appeared to three children, all was blissful in the town full of psychics, and ordinary folk. But as brute, Klaus Waxman, comes to town, angel Ken Leighton, a storeowner, must carefully guide his flock of humans not to give in to the bully's efforts. As Klaus opens a store mocking the resident angel sightings, angel Ken guides psychic Justine Greer, and her family to thwart his efforts. And with the help of the indomitable oldest psychic in town, Madam Norma, the bully meets his match through the soft voices and intuitive minds of his neighbors.

Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder is a memoir based on her twenty-five years teaching children with special needs. The book placed second in the National Federation Of Press Women's At-Large Communication contest. The book is as entertaining as it is illuminating. It's a love story about the special students and others who over the years graced her life with just that, their grace.

With hearts of angels and challenges to face, the children took Sharpe along their journeys and inspired her own life's journey of self-discovery. When sorrow came, their kindness helped her through. The synchronicity of events from high school to retirement changed her life for the better, turning her face toward heaven.

Midwest Book Review stated, "Sharpe's ability to see the good in circumstances and people identifies the 'special' in 'special needs' as she delineates her journey through the education system and those teaching and social encounters which changed her perspective and life."

"Teachers (especially those working with special needs kids) will find this spiritual and social reflection easily accessible. It's presented in vignettes which offer small, digestible bites of insight into a world where angels and kindness are present in more than one form."

Special Needs Children followed her recently released children's book about angels, When The Angel Sent Butterflies. The new book helps children understand that love from their parents and others surrounds them. Love conquers fear, and believing that angels are near can help sweep any childhood fear away. This concept is presented in the book when Angel Ken sends Jones and Kate butterflies. The book, appropriate for ages 2 to 7, is now available at Amazon and Ingram.

Her latest book, Summer Of Angels, is a mystery novel. Meteorologist and psychic, Gayle Force proves a force to be reckoned with as she moves back to her beloved Mystic Bay, California. While sleeping, an angel sent her a vision in a dream of a future event. Gayle realizes she must use her intuition to save an old man from drowning. But who is this old man?

With the help of intuitive attorney, Alex Knight, she finds they are caught in the middle of a future crime. But can Gayle and Alex solve the case and save the old man before it’s too late? With surprising twists and turns of intrigue and love, Gayle and Alex find there are angels at the helm as they help prove the bully never wins.

In addition, on the "Tuesdays With The Angels" section of her site, Sharpe presents stories of real-life encounters with angels. The stories are available at Sharpe's website at http://www.jodysharpe.com.

Sharpe hopes to create a collection of angel stories that involve sightings of angels, interaction with angels, miraculous angel encounters, and other types of accounts or stories. Everyone is welcome to submit angel stories. All submissions will be considered, but inclusion is not guaranteed. Stories may be submitted at http://bit.ly/2FV8amd.

Sharpe's YouTube channel brings all of this together, offering segments on all of these topics. One topic of special interest is bullying, specifically as it relates to special needs children.

In addition to the National Federation of Press Women’s award, Jody was chosen as a winner in the annual "50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading" Book Awards. She was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors through a public voting process.

Jody also announced recently that two new screen treatments of her books are now available: The Angel's Daughter and Town Of Angels Christmas.

Jody Sharpe is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at sharpejody76@gmail.com. Angel stories can be submitted at http://bit.ly/2FV8amd. All of her books are available at online book retailers. New quotes will be added every Tuesday to the "Tuesdays With The Angels" section of her blog, which can be found at her website at http://www.JodySharpe.com.

Recommended Books For Christmas Gifts By Bestselling Author Donna Fletcher Crow - New Releases, Jane Austen, Kishanda Fulford And More

Crow writes meticulously researched, entertaining novels of romance, history, adventure and mystery in an engaging you-are-there style that allows readers to live the history. Reviewers have compared her work with PD James, Dan Brown and Barbara Pym.

Award winning author Donna Fletcher Crow just released her recommendations for the best books for Christmas gifts. In a post on her site, she stated in part:

It should be easy, shouldn’t it? Everyone knows books make great gifts, so that should be all you need to know for your friend who loves to read. Right?

Wrong. Choosing the right gift for a booklover can be one of the trickiest challenges of the season.

As Oliver Darkshire warns in his delightful book Once Upon a Tome, The Misadventures of a Rare Bookseller: 'Purchasing a book for someone isn’t like running to the shop and picking up a box of decorative soaps, or a bottle of wine. You can’t just take a stab in the dark and hope for the best. In the best-case scenario, a well-chosen book shows just how intimately you know a person, their interests, their politics…their very sense of self. In the worst case, it can show that you barely have any interest in who they are.'

Of course, one concern in choosing a gift for an avid reader is finding a book they haven't already read. Fortunately, I have a new title out this month, so I have a ready offering I know my friends won’t have read yet. 'Going There, Tales from the Riviera and Beyond' even offers a special full-color, hardback gift edition for the special someone who loves to travel, likes mystery stories, and and perhaps just happens to be a Francophile.

Other recommendations offered by Crow:

"For those who love history I also have a special collection of Christmas short stories based on scenes from my various historical series: 'A Lighted Lamp, Scenes of Christmas Through Time.'

"For those who love history and true stories of strong women Kishanda Fulford’s extensively researched book 'The Spite of Fortune', is an account of her husband’s ancestress, the intrepid 18th-Century Heiress Louisa Carolina Colleton.

"And for the Jane Austen lovers on your list, especially those fans of the wonderful Sanditon television series, there is 'Sanditon', as rewritten by Kate Riorden with a foreword by Andrew Davies for the television version."

The full text of the piece with more recommendations is available at Crow's website at https://donnafletchercrow.com/p/507/Christmas-Shopping-for-Booklovers-New-Releases-Jane-Austen-Kishanda-Fulford-and-More.

Crow said in a recent interview, "I love giving books because I know I'm giving so much more than just an object. I'm giving that friend an experience. Books expand our experience, they take us to places we've never been before, or let us revisit favorite locations on the map or in our minds. Books give us valuable information or provide a much-needed distraction. And as has been pointed out before, they are not-fattening. What could possibly make a better gift?"

Donna Fletcher Crow is the author of 50 books, mostly novels of British history. She has taken a number of high-level industry awards for her work. Many of her books have been bestsellers in their categories, including 'A Most Inconvenient Death', which achieved #1 bestseller status in Christian Suspense. 'The Fields of Bannockburn', the epic from which The Celtic Cross Series, Part I: Scotland, The Struggle for a Nation is based, was listed as Fiction Bestseller by Christian Book Distributors and 'The Banks of the Boyne', the epic from which The Celtic Cross Series, Part II: Ireland, The Pursuit of Peace is based, hit #3 Best-Selling Fiction.

Her latest release is, 'Going There, Tales from the Riviera and Beyond'. In the summer of 2021 amidst a world-wide pandemic, Donna, her daughter-in-law, and granddaughter managed to slip through a narrow window of calm for a remarkable journey to France and Switzerland. And much to Donna’s surprise and delight, she was accompanied on the undertaking by characters from her mystery series—who had adventures of their own. This book, scheduled to be available December 1, 2023, is an account of a memorable travel experience in the real world and the fictional. It takes the reader to places physical and imaginary.

The 10-volume Celtic Cross series covers the history of Scotland and Ireland. The leading historic figures of the day interact with fictional characters to bring the stirring events alive. Each epoch is tied to the series with the on-going events in the lives of modern young people as old wars and current conflicts keep them striving to find answers that provide hope for the future. The series is comprised of 10 novels. ‘The Keeper of the Stone,’ book 1 in the series was #1 on Amazon for Historical Scottish fiction.

The Daughters of Courage, 'Kathryn', 'Elizabeth' and 'Stephanie' is a pioneer family saga based on the stories of Crow's own family and other Idaho pioneers in the Kuna, Nampa and Boise area.

'Glastonbury' is her best-known book, which received the prestigious First Place, Historical Novel, award from the National Federation of Press Women. Readers and reviewers have raved about 'Glastonbury', calling it "The best of its kind," "richly fascinating," "beautifully researched," "gloriously evocative," and "panoramic." One Amazon reader said, "WHAT a work! Every reader can be enveloped in the sheer scope and quality, every historian be constantly nodding at the precise detail and accuracy, and every Christian can rejoice in the fullness of scripture. For me it is simply beyond descriptive praise. I would urge all who value truth to treat themselves to a feast."

The Elizabeth & Richard Mysteries is a literary suspense series using literary figures as background: Rudyard Kipling in 'The Flame Ignites', Dorothy L Sayers in 'The Shadow of Reality', Shakespeare in 'A Midsummer Eve's Nightmare', and Jane Austen in both 'A Jane Austen Encounter' and 'A Most Singular Venture'. Watch for 'A Prodigious Sum of Corpses: Seeking Sanditon at Jane Austen’s Seashore', which will take readers to all of Austen’s favorite seashore resorts. Accounts of Crow’s visits to these sites are available on her blog under the heading "Jane Austen Seashore Tour."

The Monastery Murders Series features atmospheric contemporary crimes with their roots buried deep in the middle ages. Books in the series include 'A Very Private Grave', 'A Darkly Hidden Truth', 'An Unholy Communion', 'A Newly Crimsoned Reliquary', 'An All-Consuming Fire' and the newly-released 'Against All Fierce Hostility.'

Where There is Love is a 6-book series of the enduring legacy of love and faith all based on historic people and events. The titles are: 'Where Love Begins', 'Where Love Illumines', 'Where Love Triumphs', 'Where Love Restores', 'Where Love Shines', and 'Where Love Calls'.

The Lord Danvers Victorian true-crime series is an Amazon bestseller in the British Detectives category. Books in the series include 'A Lethal Spectre', 'A Most Inconvenient Death', 'Grave Matters', 'To Dust You Shall Return' and 'A Tincture of Murder'. Donna provides a no-charge download of 'A Tincture of Murder' for those who sign up for her newsletter. More information is available at her website.

Assisted Living: What You Need To Know Before You Make A Decision - What Christmas Is Like In An Assisted Care Facility By Frances Fuller, Bestselling Author Of Helping Yourself Grow Old

Best-selling author Frances Fuller offers an insider's view of assisted living and a unique outlook on aging, based on her own experience. Her insights are penetrating and deal with issues that many seniors and their families are concerned about.

For many of us, Christmas is a special time of year, rich in traditions that emphasize family, community, and joyous gatherings. It has been said that "there is no place like home for the Holidays". What if "home" is an assisted care facility? Frances Fuller, award winning author of her best selling book on aging, addressed this issue in a recent post on her website titled, "What Christmas Is Like in an Assisted Care Home". In that article, she wrote in part:

In another country I visited a home for the sick and elderly, just a few days before Christmas. In the lobby where I got permission to go into the ward there was Christmas music, familiar carols.

Then in the large room where more than a dozen women lay in hospital beds, there was no sound except that of someone groaning and two nurses talking to patients. Finding the woman I had come to visit, I greeted her with a smile and “Merry Christmas,” or actually the equivalent in her language.

To my surprise she burst into tears and said, “I didn’t know it was Christmas.”

I tell you this sad story only to say, this is not likely to happen in an assisted care community in the USA.

In the place from which I write, it is Christmas on every hall: the nursing ward, memory care, assisted care, independent living. These are some noticeable signs of the season:

Tree trimming parties

Decorated trees everywhere

Sounds of Christmas music in the lobby

“Christmas crafts” on activity schedules

A college choir coming to perform for residents

An unusual number of visitors, family and friends who miss us at home, especially at Christmas

An unusual number of absent residents, people who are spending the holiday elsewhere with sons and daughters

Packages arriving, cards in mailboxes

Bus tours to see the Christmas lights

Buses leaving for a concert in a city auditorium or a church

Christmas movies in the community room

Resident choirs warming up for a performance

All this and a collection to reward our workers, the people who cook and clean and lift and protect and fix what is broken and come when called. And another for elderly folks we don’t even know, with inadequate incomes, living somewhere else in subsidized housing. Because, even here, especially here, we must not forget that we are privileged to live in a country where some economic provision has been made for the time when we can no longer work eight hours a day. At the same time some of us have earned more or been luckier than others, and we know that many aging people cannot afford a Christmas tree, much less a ticket to the symphony. So even in a retirement community we have opportunities to make a small sacrifice for someone else. We can celebrate Christmas by giving.

Will all of this be happening in every retirement/ assisted living community? Probably not. And maybe you think you don’t even care. But you do have to look before you jump. So, visit every department of a home you are considering, not just living spaces, but the game room, the library, the gym, the auditorium, thinking about things you would like to do. And see the nursing wing, a place where (face it) you may one day have to spend Christmas.

Ask questions, any question, all of your questions. Read the daily schedules, the activities list, the menus. Talk to the people who live there. Along with all the more practical issues, ask what happens on holidays.

The full text of the piece is available at https://www.inborrowedhouseslebanon.com/what-christmas-is-like-in-an-assisted-care-home/.

Frances Fuller's book is unique among the many books on aging, because it is personal, while most such books are written from an academic point of view. Most are penned by sociologists, doctors, gerontologists, even the CEO of AARP, and one by a Catholic nun, Joan Chittister. Chittister's book, 'The Gift of Years' is beautifully written, focusing on spiritual values and finding meaning in life. Chittister admits in the preface that she was only 70, which is the front edge of aging, and her book is somewhat abstract.

Atul Gawande’s book, 'On Being Mortal', relates medicine and old age, It enjoys high Amazon rankings, in the category of “the sociology of aging.” It contains a great deal of valuable scientific information and shows understanding of the physical and emotional needs of the elderly.

Frances Fuller’s book, 'Helping Yourself Grow Old, Things I Said To Myself When I Was Almost Ninety', is an up-close and very personal encounter with aging. It is an uncontrived and firsthand look at her own daily experiences: wrestling with physical limitations, grief, loneliness, fears, and the decisions she has made about how to cope with these and keep becoming a better person. She faces regrets and the need to forgive herself and others and is determined to live in a way that blesses her children and grandchildren.

Frances deals with many common, universal but sometimes private issues in an open, conversational tone. Her confessions and decisions invite self-searching and discussion. She tries to make sense of her own past and to understand her responsibility to younger generations. In the process she shares her daily life, enriched with memories from her fascinating experiences. Her stories and her voice — fresh, honest, irresistible — keep the reader eager for more. The end result is a book that helps create a detailed map through the challenging terrain of old age.

The result of this intimate narrative is that readers laugh, cry and identify with her mistakes and problems. Reviewers have called the book, “unique,” “honest,” “witty,” “poignant,” “challenging” and “life-changing.”

For these reasons it is a book unlike any other book on aging you will ever read. The book can serve as a primer on what lies in store for all of us, from someone who is working through many of these issues. While the book is a perfect fit for book clubs, there are many other individuals and groups who could benefit from the information and ideas in the book:

Those approaching retirement
People who are currently retired
Children of aging parents
Those who have lost a spouse
Retirement community discussion groups
Counselors
Educators
Life coaches
Church groups (men and women)

and a host of others. For group discussions, Fuller has made a set of discussion questions available at her website at http://www.FrancesFullerAuthor.com.

Readers have lavished praise on the new book. One Amazon review stated, "I find myself thinking,'I need to read this again and take notes!' It’s full of wisdom, humor, and grace. I also have committed to rereading it annually - it’s that important!" Another said, "There is valuable life experience in this book. Helping Yourself Grow Old is truly is a book for all ages, and one not to be missed." Another stated, "Beautifully written book telling timeless truths, for both the old and the young. Highly recommend this book for anyone who loves to laugh, cry, and learn wisdom from someone who has lived so much life."

Frances' prior work, 'In Borrowed Houses', has taken three industry awards and has achieved Bestseller status. Frances Fuller was the Grand Prize winner in the 2015 '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' Book Awards. It received the bronze medal for memoir in the Illumination Book Awards in 2014. Northern California Publishers and Authors annually gives awards for literature produced by residents of the area. In 2015 'In Borrowed Houses' received two prizes: Best Non-fiction and Best Cover.

Critics have also praised ‘In Borrowed Houses.’ A judge in the 22nd Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards called 'In Borrowed Houses' “ . . a well written book full of compassion . . . a captivating story . . . ”. Another reviewer described the book as “Wise, honest, sensitive, funny, heart-wrenching . . .”. Colin Chapman, lecturer in Islamic Studies at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut said, “ . . . western Christians and Middle Eastern Christians need to read this story…full of remarkable perceptiveness and genuine hope.”

Frances has shared stories about her life in an interview with Women Over 70, and a recording is available on their Facebook page.

Frances Fuller is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at frances0516@att.net. The full text of her latest article is available at her website. Fuller's book is available at Amazon and other book retailers. A free ebook sample from 'In Borrowed Houses' is available at http://www.payhip.com/francesfuller. Frances Fuller also blogs on other issues relating to the Middle East on her website at http://www.inborrowedhouseslebanon.com.

About Frances Fuller:

Frances Fuller spent thirty years in the violent Middle East and for twenty-four of those years was the director of a Christian publishing program with offices in Lebanon. While leading the development of spiritual books in the Arabic language, she survived long years of civil war and invasions.

The Trump-Russia Connection Is A Terrifying Reality Says Elizabeth Graham, Author Of Bestselling Ebook, 'From Democracy To Democrazy'

Graham's new book is an intriguing and informative "must read" from a woman who is probably the best-informed American on the terrifying realities concerning Vladimir Putin's motivations and his control over Trump. It is a warning to all Americans.

A whirlwind of legal woes orbit around Donald Trump. While the American media spotlight, ever enthralled by the sensationalism of the moment, remains fixated on Trump's legal issues, a crucial and overlooked danger continues to unfold. As the never-ending drama surrounding Trump's legal battles captures headlines, the influence of Putin's strategies quietly attempts to reshape the trajectory of American politics. The shadow cast by Putin over the landscape of American democracy, and his influence over Trump, grows larger and darker by the moment.

Elizabeth Graham's new book, 'From Democracy to Democrazy', is an intriguing and informative "must read" from a woman who is probably the best-informed American on the terrifying realities concerning Vladimir Putin's motivations and his control over Trump.

In her book, Graham describes how Putin intends to destroy our democracy from within - and he is succeeding. As a Cold War-era spy, he blames the U.S. for the fall of the Soviet Union. The tools used to achieve this destruction include: racism, violence, insurrection, cyber-attacks, inflation, isolationism, and the conversion and control of American "assets", which includes Donald J. Trump.

Where is the proof? Proof and verification is found in Graham's stunning new nonfiction book - 'From Democracy to Democrazy'. The ebook version of the book was ranked number one in three categories on Amazon only weeks after it's release. It was an immediate bestseller.

Elizabeth Graham had a Top Secret Security Clearance while a senior in high school, and immediately upon graduation began working undercover with the CIA.  She later joined the SAIC's Foreign Systems Research Center (FSRC) for 12 years.  Eight of these years were spent studying Russia and Russian, and managed the largest Russian-language military, technical and intelligence library in the U.S. She began to travel to the Soviet Union and then became one of the very few Americans to move to the USSR. She lived under Communism in the Soviet Union, then Russia, and Central Asia long enough to become bi-cultural - she became Russian. Her first-hand knowledge and understanding of life in a communist or dictatorship country is shared with Americans in this book, as well as an expression of pure fear of Trump's behavior, decisions, and words.

As stated on her website, “When you first read From Democracy to Democrazy, you might think you have found yourself in the middle of a John Grisham novel, or a movie like The Manchurian Candidate. This story line however is true.” From her rejection of an invitation to join the KGB (and surviving to talk about it), to Trump's attendance at the Beverly Hills nightclub opening in Moscow (her oldest daughter managed this joint venture) - her real-life experiences were absorbed only through firsthand encounters. Knowledge gained during this journey is shared with her readers and is entirely factual. This is not a slanted political story written with the intention of swaying political positions, but rather a rendition of her life's hard-earned wisdom.

In a recent blog post, Graham stated, "Trump’s admission of his guilt is a reflection of not just his stupidity, but the arrogance with which he leads his life. This is a man who is lock, stock, and barrel under the control of Vladimir Putin who is a dictator who wishes to destroy the United States. Trump's stupidity also led to his 4 bankruptcies.   No U.S. bank  would loan him money, which led to his working with the Russians, who have laundered millions upon millions (dirty cash) of dollars via Trump's real estate deals.  His tax information provided verification.  The Trump Tower in SoHo (New York) was entire bankrolled by Russians.

"Russians loan money to foreigners for ONE reason – to gain control and compromise that individual. They loaned about $9 million to France’s opposition leader Ms. Le Pen. Trump Jr. said in 2008 'In terms of high-end product influx into the U.S., Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets.' In other words, ten years before Trump became President, most of his income came from Russia. The Russians even openly admitted to election interference and support for Trump in 2016, and they said that they would continue this effort. Of course they wish to have a Russian-controlled American in the White House. Graham explains to the American public how this happened and what it means to our democracy."

From 'Democracy to Democrazy' has received rave reviews and five-stars from readers and reviewers. Kirkus Reviews wrote: "The book's real value lies in Graham's personal story, not only as an expert on Russian society, but as a White grandmother and former Republican who finally came to terms with America's history of discrimination. Graham's astute commentary is also accompanied by an entertaining and informative assortment of political cartoons, graphs, and charts. A well-researched expert guide to authoritarian regimes and the fragility of democracy in America."

An Amazon reviewer stated, "This book is a must-read for Americans who want to know true facts about what's happening to our country. It takes courage to write about the truth and not fall into that 'fake news' trap. This book will give you a stunning perspective - comparing the similarities of how our government operated with Trump at the helm to how Russian government (the DUMA) operates in Moscow. This comparison will shock you. . . . She also connects all the dots of the Trump administration and his partnership with Putin. Thank you, Elizabeth."

Another reviewer said, "Ms. Graham brings a unique perspective on Putin, as well as Trump's many relationships with Russians. She speaks Russian and some Ukrainian and worked under-cover with a top-secret clearance. She lived in Russia for nearly 20 years. She also explains how 'mass manipulation' began in totalitarian countries, and about how so many Americans were 'brainwashed' due to Trump's repetitive rhetoric - a proven form of brainwashing. Her explanations of how Russia operates to entrap foreigners - including Trump - and then threatens their loved ones is an eye-opener for most naive Americans."

About Elizabeth Graham:

Elizabeth Graham lives in a quiet rural city in northern Arizona. She had 4 children and has 3 grandchildren. Her oldest daughter died July 16, 2016 when she was in Japan. The Tokyo Police ruled her death a homicide, possibly by poison. Elizabeth was indoctrinated at a young age by her father who was a senior manager working undercover with the CIA. Her college days were in Los Angeles with the desire to become a high school teacher. However, she was destined to study Russia, Russian language, and live a life of Top Secret clearances and undercover work. This lead to senior nonprofit management positions and consulting jobs in strategic places like Moscow and St. Petersburg in Russia, all of the former Soviet countries (15 countries including the Baltics, Central Asia, and Ukraine), Pakistan, Afghanistan, Rwanda, Bosnia, Peru, Brazil, and many other locations. In this process of living and working abroad, she became bi-cultural (American to Russian and back) and multi-lingual.

FilmMakerLife Magazine Front Cover Article Details Dr Barbara Becker Holstein's Visionary Approach To Filmmaking

Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein is a best-selling author and film maker who uses positive psychology concepts to help kids deal with bullying, anxiety, depression, loneliness, school shootings and social media issues.

Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein was recently featured on the front cover of FilmMakerLife Magazine. The article, titled 'The Enchanted Self: Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein's Visionary Approach to Filmmaking’ captured the spirit of Dr. Holstein's one-of-a-kind approach to modern-day, selfie film making, which combines filmmaking with positive psychology. The article stated in part:

"In the world of filmmaking, Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein is a true trailblazer. A positive psychologist and filmmaker, she seamlessly combines her expertise in psychology with the art of storytelling to create captivating films that explore the depths of human emotions and experiences. Dr. Holstein's unique approach, based on her concept of the 'Enchanted Self', not only pushes the boundaries of traditional filmmaking but also aims to inspire, uplift, and empower individuals, especially . . . girls, in an ever-changing world."

The article went on to say:

"Dr. Holstein's dedication to spreading her vision extends beyond the realm of filmmaking. Over the years, she has actively engaged in various forms of teaching, interviews, writing books, hosting a public TV show, podcasts, newsletters, and more. Her commitment to making a positive impact on society shines through in all her endeavors, making her true advocate for positive psychology and self empowerment."

“Sometimes it seems like one walks a million miles before what you have created is noticed or understood,” Dr. Holstein stated. “I have felt that way about Selfie Filmmaking. For almost 8 years, I have had the chance to work with teenage girls in a number of films, all about coming-of-age issues that we all have faced long ago when we were young. These issues are such things as a first crush, moving when you don't want to, not having friends, sibling rivalry, parents not getting along, being bullied, wanting a best friend, feeling anxious, keeping a secret or not, etc.

“I would write the script, often based on characters I had already developed in books I had written, published by Sky Horse Press, 'The Truth, Diary of a Gutsy Tween,' and 'Secrets, Diary of a Gutsy Teen.' Then the actress would take the script, and ultimately, she would bring alive the scenes I had written in her own way, filming herself with a smartphone. Later, as we put the final film together, we would bring in a small crew for more complicated scenes. The interaction was dynamite.

“Immediately, the first film 'The Truth, a Short Film,' was accepted at a prestigious film festival, the 'Garden State Film Festival' in New Jersey. As time has gone on, the films are approaching 200 festivals and other related programs of acceptance. I remember 'Falling in Love, a Coming of Age Selfie Film,' being shown at the Brightside Tavern Festival in Jersey City, New Jersey, and the audience clapping and someone calling out: who created such an amazing film with such drama and depth'? Of course, I took my bows and also introduced Megan Brown, who was the star. Without her, the drama of falling in love could not have unfolded.

“Yet, for many years, my selfie films have stood alone, without others experimenting in the concept of integrating drama, psychology, and filmmaking as a clear approach to both help with self-esteem and resilience and also give teens a chance to really become filmmakers, and lastly to bring drama and hope to all.

“When the Filmmaker Life Magazine approached me, I felt finally understood, blessed as a psychologist and a filmmaker, and valued. Thank you for giving me a chance to go public with my life work as a psychologist and in recent years as a filmmaker. My dream is to make many more selfie films, integrating adolescents in much longer plots, full-length movies, and streaming series. And, oh, let me not forget, bringing adult actors on board also who do many of their scenes by themselves, choosing setting, clothing, makeup, etc. Why not? Sounds good to me, and who knows the depth of character that will emerge?”

Dr Holstein also focuses on films and books that will inspire and help encourage self esteem and resilience for the older audience via films, Zoom dramas, podcasts, plays and other forms of media.

Dr. Holstein hopes to bring parents, teachers, librarians, grandparents and media together to accomplish one goal: Change in the lives of young people who suffer from anxiety and a growing sense of hopelessness and despair.

Dr. Holstein wraps Positive Psychology concepts in forms of media that young people find engaging, relatable and inspiring. These include:

Five bestselling, award-winning books (perfect for school libraries)

Five self-esteem workbooks for girls 8 and up

Award-winning films and coming of age selfie films

A library of articles

As a school psychologist and in her private practice, Dr. Holstein has worked with many children and parents, helping them to develop life skills in decision-making, recognition of their own talents, feel more courageous, and helping both kids and parents develop more successful inter-generational skills. Her last book, ‘Conflict and a Bit of Magic’, helps kids build self-esteem though reading the journal of a girl, identifying with the girl, and understanding they have more courage and resiliency than they thought they had. The book is based on the experiences of the already famous “girl” from 'The Truth, Diary of a Gutsy Tween' and 'Secrets, Diary of a Gutsy Teen', and achieved bestseller status in the multi-generational families category.

Dr. Holstein’s latest workbook for kids, ‘Secrets’ achieved bestseller status in the ‘Teen & Young Adult Nonfiction on Depression’ category.
