Alcohol And Drug Addiction: 6 Tips On How To Overcome Self Centered Pride And Arrogance By Best Selling Author Harriet Hunter

Hunter's award-winning book, Miracles of Recovery, became the first-place recipient of the coveted President’s Award in nonfiction from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association. Miracles features 365 powerful daily inspirations from a holistic view of recovery.

There is a difference between healthy, authentic pride and arrogance. In an article in Psychology Today, printed June 29, 2014, Guy Winch Ph.D. writes in part:

“Psychologists distinguish between two kinds of pride. Authentic pride arises when we feel good about ourselves, confident, and productive, related to socially desirable personality traits, such as being agreeable, conscientious, and emotionally stable.

"Hubristic pride, sometimes referred to self-centered pride, is egotism and arrogance at its best, often exhibited in undesirable traits such as becoming contrary, disagreeable, aggressive, having low or brittle self-esteem—and being prone to shame.”

And as Harriet Hunter, best-selling author of Miracles of Recovery recently wrote, "Arrogance is insecurity wrapped up to appear to be pride."

Self-centered pride and arrogance lie at the very core of judging other people and putting other people down without cause. Both create an illusion of elevated self-worth, fed by the unwarranted belief that one is better or more worthy than other people.

While pride and arrogance can be a problem for any one of us, they are especially detrimental to the alcoholic or drug addict. In a recent article posted on her site, Hunter offered 6 actions the alcoholic or addict can do to overcome self-centered pride:

* Stop denying. Anytime we deny our truth, we hurt ourselves. Denial sends the message that either we are not strong enough to find or to face our truth, or we feel we are not deserving to stand up for our self which is our truth.

* Share our truth with others so that everyone can hear in a non-threatening yet honest way.

* Admit our mistakes to others. Yes, we all make mistakes and thank goodness. If we never made mistakes, not only would we be in denial, but self-centered pride would continue to keep us stuck, wearing the garb that protects the world from seeing we were not perfect. Ego would suffocate any chance of our own candidness.

*Give Credit where Credit is Deserved. That’s right. When we were locked into the guise of pride, we would never think of deferring to others and salute their success. Why, we wanted all the glory for ourselves! We handled it all, didn’t we?

It’s interesting how giving credit to those deserving sometimes works. When the show unfolds as planned, we stood up, took a bow, and took credit for every aspect of the work. But when the show plummeted, we turned to whoever was around us and spouted that it was someone else’s fault things failed!

* Practice Active Listening. There is so much communication on any day whirling around us, we take for granted, presume we are listening when, in reality, we already know how we want to respond, what it is we need to say and how we need to say it. Without active listening, we cut off before they even finish their sentence.

* Get Rid of False Beliefs: When we do not give ourselves sufficient nurturing, it is impossible for us to see the baggage we still carry around inside us, called false beliefs. We grew up with them. Who knows where they came from, parents, teachers, friends. Some false beliefs are:

I’ve been doing it this way for years:

I don’t need any help. I can handle it myself;

If it’s not broke, don’t fix it

I don’t need anyone, I’m just fine;

Emotions are for sissy’s. You don’t need to see mine.

No one has ever complained before now!

They’ll never get rid of me, they need me too much;

More information on this and many other topics is available at Hunter’s website at https://www.harriethunter.org.

While there are many treatment approaches and programs, what is common to all successful individuals within a substance abuse program is the shared pain and the loneliness, oftentimes with an ongoing support system for the person battling the disease. That support system is what Harriet Hunter offers in “Miracles of Recovery: Daily Meditations of Hope, Courage and Faith.”

Featuring 365-daily inspirations. Miracles of Recovery was written not just for those addicted, but for the parents, the spouses - anyone touched by the disease because addiction is absolutely a family affair. Using the foundation of 12-Step Recovery, Miracles of Recovery embraces holistic suggestions as a practical approach for those who must face life on life's terms, clean and sober. Encouraging and thought-provoking, Miracles of Recovery inspires with Universal Truths, “because,” Harriet says, “Once we know better, we do better.”

Miracles of Recovery is written to show through personal examples how to achieve long-term sobriety by embracing new behavior and positive reinforcement, regardless of what happens in one's life. She offers a personal, sometimes raw reflection of the truth about addiction seldom seen elsewhere.

Tools necessary to maintain sobriety and change one's life through changing one’s perspective are also proposed. Miracles of Recovery suggests that readers "Do life differently," through exercises, solutions, and methods to improve self-esteem, confidence, and embrace a profound sense of hope needed to succeed. The author spurs the reader to embrace the belief that, regardless of challenges life presents, “NOTHING can change the course of recovery when you keep yourself, your sobriety, and your Higher Power first in your life.” In short, Miracles of Recovery offers hope where there is none through a simple program of actions for complicated people.

Hunter has received rave reviews for her work from readers and reviewers alike. Vernita Taylor of Readers Favorite stated, “Miracles of Recovery: Daily Meditations of Hope, Courage, and Faith by Harriet Hunter is a great choice if you’re struggling with addiction because it offers a full year of inspiration and affirmations which I enjoyed. I see this book as a mentor or sponsor that is walking by your side and helping to lead you to a better, more improved you while teaching you how to deal with your stressors. The best teacher is someone who has been there and done that, and this book doesn’t disappoint. The author knows first-hand what it takes and how it feels to be addicted, and the journey to recovery. If you need help along your journey, pick up a copy of this book; it’s highly recommended.”

Anthony Capozzolli of Dismantled Life Podcast said, “Miracles of Recovery has been a feast for my recovering soul. Every page is filled with love and helpful insights that lead to discovery. I read each page by date and randomly turn to other pages for an additional spiritual hug when I need one. It’s almost as if Harriet wrote her wonderful book for me. Page after page hits so close to home I often tear up from positive awareness and clarity of emotion.”

Miracles of Recovery received the first place President’s Award in nonfiction from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association.

Since her walk into recovery in 1999, Harriet has had one primary purpose: to show others how they can achieve their miracles while staying sober with a vision and determination to never go backwards, one day at a time.

Using her experience strength and hope, Harriet strives to be a conduit of encouragement to others in their disease of alcoholism and drugs of choice, by showing them what continues to work. With practical tools, principles and promises as found in A.A., and other 12-step programs, she mirrors examples of how anyone can be free from the bondage of self, regardless of their situation.

With each purchase of a personalized autograph copy of Miracles of Recovery from her website, Hunter provides a no-charge copy of her e-book, "Your Daily Reprieve; How To Maintain Long-Term Sobriety Serenely Just For Today" in PDF format.

Bestselling Author Bernard Fleury Announces His Biography Of Feminist Irene Maude OConnor, 'The Wing Walker', Will Be Available At No Charge In Ebook Format November 29 Through December 1, 2021

Fleury is the author of the best-selling book, Near Death Experience, Out Of The Darkness Into The Light

Bestselling author Bernard Fleury has announced that his biography of Irene Maude O'Connor, 'The Wing Walker', will be available in ebook format at no charge from November 29 through December 1, 2021 at Amazon.

Irene Maude O’Connor Carlberg was a unique feminist of the Greatest Generation. She redefined and pushed the limits of what a woman of her generation could do.

Her story is utterly unique and her greatest claim to fame is that that she stood on the wings of a biplane in flight. She sailed down the frozen Connecticut River holding a sheet, designed and made elaborate costumes for Broadway plays, rode in the basket of a hot air balloon at the ages of 90, 95, and 98 and, in her 60s decided to get her license to drive a motorcycle. Her life story is detailed in this highly engaging memoir, that hearkens back to the days when butter was thirty-five cents a pound and five pounds of flower sold for eighteen cents. Modern day readers will marvel at what Carlberg, a woman born in 1908, achieved during those years.

Bernard Fleury is a best-selling author of 12 books. In his award-winning bestseller, ‘Near-death Experience: Out of the Darkness Into The Light’, Fleury presents a penetrating look into the near death experience that is unlike any other book about NDE’s available today. Readers will learn what really happens in the profound near-death experience.

Other books by Bernard Fleury include:

What is Man? Male and Female
Human Sexuality in St. John Paul II and Teilhard de Chardin
Lived Experience and Comparison of Five Views of the Human (What is Man? Series Book 2)
Reform of Schooling
Calvin Coolidge, Man of the Great Generation
Teilhard De Chardin - The Search For The Light In Evolution
How Jesus Christ Leads Us To The Kingdom of Heaven
The Mind-Body-Spirit Connection in the Medicine of Light
A Bee in His Bonnet
The Unfailing Light: Remedy For Alienation, Loneliness and Despair

Many of Bernard's books center squarely on the theme of Light as a Someone and a Something. He believes we are all Called Into Life By The Light. Life and Light are tied together. Lifelight describes their relationship best because both our “without” (our physical being) and our “within” (our spirit) are basically light in two different forms:

1. Physical energy that occupies space, has weight, can be measured, and

2. Psychic or spiritual energy which is a force that causes things to happen and, thus, real energy, but it does not occupy space, have weight, nor can it be empirically measured.

Bernard was chosen as one of ‘50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading’ in the 2017 Book Awards. His honor came as a result of his appearance on The Authors Show. He was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors through a public voting process.

The Wing Walker will be available in ebook format at no charge from November 29 through December 1, 2021 at Amazon. Bernard Fleury is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at bernlida@comcast.net. His books are available at online retail book outlets. More information is available at his website at http://www.intolifebylight.com.

48 Years Later A Combat Veteran Returns To The Battle Field With His Daughter - Compelling New Memoir, My Vietnam: A Gift To My Daughter By Jack Billups Now Available

Billups' highly praised book is an utterly unique Vietnam memoir that served to help him reclaim his relationship with his daughter

There are many books about the Vietnam War, many written by Vietnam veterans, available today. The greater number take the form of a Vietnam memoir, but there are also books written by those who served on the other side. Some detail the Vietnam draft experience, others the end of the Vietnam War, Vietnam War music from the 60s, Vietnam War history, Vietnam War images - even cookbooks. All of them give us a taste of the experience of the Vietnam War from a particular perspective. There is one Vietnam War memoir that goes beyond all the others in its approach, flavor and style.

After 48 years, Jack Billups returned to the battlefields of Vietnam with his daughter, where he completed a memoir in real time that helped him reclaim his relationship with his daughter.

'My Vietnam: A Gift to My Daughter', is an utterly unique Vietnam memoir, written by a former “grunt”, that puts the reader into a pair of combat boots, and allows them to see, hear, smell, taste, and touch the Vietnam combat experience in vivid detail.

"Hey Dad, please share your Vietnam experiences?" Naomi's request set into motion a journey, 50 years into the past, as a "grunt" in the steamy jungles of Vietnam. Four months later with his memoir completed, Naomi asked, "Dad, let's go to Vietnam, just you and me?" Could the ghosts of Vietnam past morph into a father and daughter blessing in the present?

George C. Colclough, Col. Inf (ret) USAR, former president and CEO of Smith & Wesson, stated in the introduction to the book, "Just another Vietnam War book? Certainly not, Jack takes you down two roads as he embarks on one remarkable journey with his daughter. First, Jack effectively articulates his story in such a way that puts the reader into the boots of a grunt, causing them to feel what he felt, and understand the daunting challenges of those who traveled the Vietnam jungle.

"Secondly, Jack and his daughter continued this remarkable adventure as they traveled back to Vietnam to return to the places where her father had so many vivid experiences. A wonderful story!"

For Jack Billups, what began as a Vietnam memoir morphed into an experience that drew him and his daughter back together in unexpected ways. It is also a compelling memoir that reconciles America and Vietnam, then and now, including the culture shock of seeing Vietnam as it exists today. It offers a heartfelt and heartwarming message to the people of both countries, and a greater understanding of what the old song "Ruby" called "that crazy Asian war."

“The passion to write this book came from my desire to, 'love on my daughter.”, Billups stated. “Naomi wanted to learn about ‘My Vietnam War experiences’. Later, realizing the significance of this evolving story, I launched into a wider realm knowing I had an opportunity to bring understanding, and perhaps comfort to those who were touched by this unpopular American war.”

Readers and reviewers alike have praised 'My Vietnam: A Gift to My Daughter'. It has been called "A beautiful journey to healing," and "A thought-provoking and introspective Vietnam memoir". One reviewer said, "The book was so good, I was sad when I finished it." Another stated, "Jack's memory of his time in Vietnam has been beautifully detailed in his book. Not everyone wants to relive such a terrible page in our American history, but Jack was able to do a remarkable job talking about actual events that he lived through and came back home in one piece to give such a wonderful gift he has given to his daughter."

Another wrote, "The book delivered on my husband's hopes for a healing response to what our Armed Services faced over there. My husband usually can't read much Vietnam War material due to PTSD. He read this in just a few days; it was that good. Our thanks to the author for undertaking this topic and telling his story."

Jack Billups is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at jabillups49@gmail.com. 'My Vietnam: A Gift to My Daughter' is available at Amazon in Kindle, paperback and audio formats. More information is available at Billups' website at https://myvietnambook.com.

About Jack Billups:

As a 19-year-old Army volunteer, Sgt. Jack Billups received the Bronze Star with the V attachment. He was awarded the Air Medal, which went to those who participated in combat aerial missions. Assigned to the 1st Air Calvary infantry as a M60 machine gunner, Jack served in the steamy jungles near the Ho Chi Minh trail along the Cambodian border.

Jack grew up during the 1950s and early 1960s in a peaceful Southern California community populated by many senior citizens and dotted with chicken ranches. He is a dependable and talented "everyman" who makes no claim about his service in Vietnam except for being a patriotic American who did "the right thing" as he saw it. He maintained that attitude throughout his life. Asked to talk about his military experience by his daughter, he began writing it out, and ended up exposing 50-year-old forgotten memories and emotions about the jungle war, concluding with a trip back to Vietnam with his daughter.

Assisted Living: What You Need To Know Before You Make A Decision - Will I Be Thankful Asks Frances Fuller, Award Winning Author Of 'Helping Yourself Grow Old'

Best selling author Frances Fuller offers a unique outlook on aging based on her own experience. Her insights are penetrating and deal with issues that many seniors and their families are concerned about. She offers an insider's view of assisted living.

November is the month when the country starts to focus on being thankful. That may be difficult, given all that we have endured this year, and Frances Fuller, award winning author of Helping Yourself Grow Old raises the question “Will We Be Thankful in an assisted care facility?” The new piece on her website describes her experience in a community dominated by infirmities, frailties, illness:

In October, I sat on the porch with Bee, another resident here. I was in one of the big white rocking chairs that always seem to invite me to sit awhile. My friend was in her wheelchair. The day was sunny, the sky brilliant, and across the road the strip of forest that protects us from the next subdivision was several shades of green.

It must have been the little nip of cold in the air that made her say it. “I hate autumn.”

The words stunned me. I had been looking forward to sweater weather and the wonderful colors of fall.

“Why?” I asked her. “Why do you hate autumn?”

“Because everything is dying,” she said.

I tried, not very effectively, to convince her that it was just part of a cycle. Without it we would not have spring. She dreaded the winter that has to come first.

Already now some of the trees across the road are lifting bare branches to the heavens, and we are all a bit depressed because death has visited us here in the care community. This too is natural. We are old. We grow frail. The leaves fall from family trees. We mourn each loss and regret the brevity of autumn colors.

But suddenly it is November, a month we Americans have dedicated to being thankful. A staff member has encouraged us to say thanks formally at our separate tables in the dining room, but mostly we don’t. You see, we don’t sit down at the same time or order at the same time or begin to eat together.

Of course, we talk all the time. We say what we are thinking, I guess. And there is a common script that gets repeated often when I happen to be with a certain group. It begins when someone complains about the food. The vegetables are cooked too much. Or the mashed potatoes are cold, the meat is tough. And who gave them permission to call this gumbo?

There will be a silence following our complaint. Then someone will say, “But I didn’t have to cook today.”

Another will add, “I am not planning to wash the dishes either.”

And a certain woman can always be depended on to say, “I didn’t have to go to Kroger.”

The full piece is available at her site at http://www.francesfullerauthor.com.

There are many great books on aging available. However, many of them were written from an academic point of view. Most are penned by sociologists, doctors, gerontologists, even the CEO of AARP, and one by a Catholic nun, Joan Chittister. Chittister's book, 'The Gift of Years' is beautifully written, focusing on spiritual values and finding meaning in life. Chittister admits in the preface that she was only 70, which is the front edge of aging, and her book is somewhat abstract.

Atul Gawande’s book, 'On Being Mortal', relates medicine and old age, It enjoys high Amazon rankings, in the category of “the sociology of aging.” It contains a great deal of valuable scientific information and shows understanding of the physical and emotional needs of the elderly.

Frances Fuller’s book, 'Helping Yourself Grow Old, Things I Said To Myself When I Was Almost Ninety', is an up-close and very personal encounter with aging. It is an uncontrived and firsthand look at her own daily experiences: wrestling with physical limitations, grief, loneliness, fears, and the decisions she has made about how to cope with these and keep becoming a better person. She faces regrets and the need to forgive herself and others and is determined to live in a way that blesses her children and grandchildren.

Frances deals with many common, universal but sometimes private issues in an open, conversational tone. Her confessions and decisions invite self-searching and discussion. She tries to make sense of her own past and to understand her responsibility to younger generations. In the process she shares her daily life, enriched with memories from her fascinating experiences. Her stories and her voice — fresh, honest, irresistible — keep the reader eager for more. The end result is a book that helps create a detailed map through the challenging terrain of old age.

The result of this intimate narrative is that readers laugh, cry and identify with her mistakes and problems. Reviewers have called the book, “unique,” “honest,” “witty,” “poignant,” “challenging” and “life-changing.”

For these reasons it is a book unlike any other book on aging you will ever read. The book can serve as a primer on what lies in store for all of us, from someone who is working through many of these issues. While the book is a perfect fit for book clubs, there are many other individuals and groups who could benefit from the information and ideas in the book:

Those approaching retirement
People who are currently retired
Children of aging parents
Those who have lost a spouse
Retirement community discussion groups
Counselors
Educators
Life coaches
Church groups (men and women)

and a host of others. For group discussions, Fuller has made a set of discussion questions available at her website at http://www.FrancesFullerAuthor.com.

Readers have lavished praise on the new book. One Amazon review stated, "I find myself thinking,'I need to read this again and take notes!' It’s full of wisdom, humor, and grace. I also have committed to rereading it annually - it’s that important!" Another said, "There is valuable life experience in this book. Helping Yourself Grow Old is truly is a book for all ages, and one not to be missed." Another stated, "Beautifully written book telling timeless truths, for both the old and the young. Highly recommend this book for anyone who loves to laugh, cry, and learn wisdom from someone who has lived so much life."

Frances' prior work, 'In Borrowed Houses', has taken three industry awards and has achieved Bestseller status. Frances Fuller was the Grand Prize winner in the 2015 '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' Book Awards. It received the bronze medal for memoir in the Illumination Book Awards in 2014. Northern California Publishers and Authors annually gives awards for literature produced by residents of the area. In 2015 'In Borrowed Houses' received two prizes: Best Non-fiction and Best Cover.

Critics have also praised ‘In Borrowed Houses.’ A judge in the 22nd Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards called 'In Borrowed Houses' “ . . a well written book full of compassion . . . a captivating story . . . ”. Another reviewer described the book as “Wise, honest, sensitive, funny, heart-wrenching . . .”. Colin Chapman, lecturer in Islamic Studies at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut said, “ . . . western Christians and Middle Eastern Christians need to read this story…full of remarkable perceptiveness and genuine hope.”

Frances has shared stories about her life in an interview with Women Over 70, and a recording is available on their Facebook page.

Frances Fuller is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at frances0516@att.net. The full text of her latest article is available at her website. Fuller's book is available at Amazon and other book retailers. A free ebook sample from 'In Borrowed Houses' is available at http://www.payhip.com/francesfuller. Frances Fuller also blogs on other issues relating to the Middle East on her website at http://www.inborrowedhouseslebanon.com.

About Frances Fuller:

Frances Fuller spent thirty years in the violent Middle East and for twenty-four of those years was the director of a Christian publishing program with offices in Lebanon. While leading the development of spiritual books in the Arabic language, she survived long years of civil war and invasions.

Author Sid Nachman Announces New Travel Book, 'Take A Trip With Morris The Trailer And Two Fruitcakes Down The Yellow Brick Road', Now Available at Amazon

Nachman is the author of a number of highly praised books, including 'Bipolar Me' and 'Strictly For Seniors'

Sid Nachman is a writer who is known for his acerbic wit and his ability to knock readers to the floor in fits of laughter. His writing style is unlike any other. He is especially adept at creating works that center around his Jewish upbringing, spinning tales that seem too funny to be true - but they are.

He has turned his attention to travel and has released a new travel book entitled, 'Take a Trip with Morris the Trailer and Two Fruitcakes Down the Yellow Brick Road'. While his road trip with his wife and a talking trailer does not take him to Kansas, it does take him nearly everywhere else - or so it seems.

In this new book, readers can discover customs and cultures they never knew existed. Get sage and oregano advice from Morris, who rarely stops talking. Share the absurd thoughts in the minds of Sammy and Libby, the two other main characters in this travelogue.

Their names have been changed, not to protect them, but just because their existing names didn’t seem right. Try not to judge them too harshly, since there’s more than a faint likelihood your mind may be just as badly distorted as theirs. This trip was the dream of a lifetime for all three of them. It actually happened, something few of us will ever experience. Readers can just sit back, relax, and enjoy their great adventure.

Sid described part of that road trip in his trademark style:

“We visited a gas station that sold grand pianos and seven foot bears and camped at a lake where ducks walked on fishes, and marveled at the half finished statue of Crazy Horse on his stallion carved on the side of a mountain.”

The new book is available at Amazon in softcover format.

Sid Nachman was the first person in the USA to be diagnosed bipolar. Reviewers have called his memoir, 'Bipolar Me', "a roller coaster ride through the mind of one of the funniest and endearing story-tellers of his generation." That story is now available in video format on Youtube, Vimeo and on Amazon Fire TV and Roku. The video biopic features Sid describing many of the events of his life, presented in a wry and sardonic style that is his trademark. The video is available at https://youtu.be/Q-j_u6ZFF1I, Vimeo at https://vimeo.com/483258605 and on Amazon Fire TV and Roku.

'Bipolar Me' provides an insightful and captivating glimpse into the day-to-day experience of a man who dealt with this condition - during a time when this type of affliction might be diagnosed as a form of schizophrenia. In those days the treatment might involve electric shock treatment or, in severe cases, being locked away.

'Bipolar Me' has garnered high praise from readers and reviewers alike. Sid's no-holds-barred writing style produces a work that is filled with hilarious stories that show us that life is just plain good. It is a highly entertaining memoir that allows readers a glimpse into the unfettered mind of a bipolar boy who never grows up until his hair turns white. Readers will get to see his world in black and white and vivid color and will feel what he feels when he feels like he weighs three thousand pounds and a minute later can leap over tall buildings. Sid's life is a life gone wild that settles down only when it’s almost too late.

Sid's first book, 'Strictly For Seniors' is a nonfiction work of short stories about what happened to Sid "after breakfast on Delancey Street" in West Philly during the 30’s and 40’s when his Mom gave him a big hug and kiss and sent him on his way. Sid had great fun, survived bullying by hitting the bigger boys about the head with his violin case and developed his own singular brand of “street smarts".

He also published ‘Leena – An Abused Bruised and Bloodied Woman’, a true account of a little girl who climbs out of mind-boggling mental and physical abuse, faces prejudice and misunderstanding as an adult, knocks the chip off her shoulder and leads a normal and healthy life.

Nachman's books have received fantastic reviews. One stated, "Like James Joyce, Sid Nachman can take the ordinary and turn it into magic with a fluency that's imperceptible." Another said "Sid's stories touch the human soul with wit, charm and realism."

Sid Nachman is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at mollymax210@gmail.com. All Sid's books, including 'Take a Trip with Morris the Trailer' are available at Amazon. More information, including samples from the books and recent interviews with The Authors Show, is available at his website at http://www.sidnachman.com.

About Sid Nachman:

Sid Nachman was the only child of immigrant parents from Russia and Germany who tried for 13 years to have him and were very tired from trying so hard. His initials are S.I.N. for Sidney Irving Nachman. He never found out if he was a sin or a joy. Sid resides in Florida with his wife, Linda and his new Shih Tzu puppy Shayna, and in spite of his big mouth is still loved by all.

New Spiritual Adventure Travel Book, Finding 42, Details The Spiritual Awakening of A Marine Veteran Who Traveled The World In Search Of True Freedom

Mailman writes about his amazing travel adventures to encourage seekers of true freedom to follow their hearts and change their realities.

Some of us like to read travel books. Others are more inclined to adventure stories. A large percentage of modern day readers enjoy books that show us the path to spiritual awakening and freedom.

There are thousands of books available in each of these categories. Seldom, however, does a single book encompass all those subjects. Finding 42, by best selling author Benny Mailman, is one of the few books to accomplish such a feat and to do so splendidly. It is an utterly unique story that is both compelling and insightful.

Wisconsin native Benny Mailman now lives a life of which most of us can only dream. He did not achieve this through happenstance or luck. Instead, he consciously built it, step by step, during a journey that took him halfway around the globe. While many of us are content to sit in our chairs and wish for the chance to travel the world, Mailman took action. The first part of his ongoing journey is detailed in his best-selling book, Finding 42.

“Before the journey I was seeing shaman and healers in Denver, Colorado. I was trying in earnest to revive and restore my energies as they had been before evil energies had depleted them to my soul-core. From zero I arose like a bewildered phoenix, back at full power, but with no direction and still shackled to a reality that made no sense to me. The journey decision was my loosening of the chains, allowing some breathing room within my soul. The actual journey was my inaugural flight as the powerful phoenix, obliterating irrational realities as the chains shattered. During the spiritual adventure I coalesced energies with the hearts of all humans and animals as well as the Earth herself. I experienced such magic, happiness, and connection. The journey has brought me to where I am today: a peaceful life in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Here I mingle with peaceful energies daily, and I pass on my knowledge to young students, while sharing smiles with everyone, from babies in their mother’s arms to the elders in the countryside. Peace and Love to you all.”

Book 1, Finding 42: Cut The Rope; A Soul’s Awakening, is the red carpet of the series, rolling out adventures in Russia, Mongolia, and China.

Book 2, Finding 42: Searcher Of Soul Keys, is the arrival of the King and Queen. Awakening events and Zen moments flow through the chapters with the gracefulness of eagles in flight and the clarity of a cold stream on a hot afternoon.

Finding 42, at its core, is an amazing adventure series. Book 1, Cut the Rope, begins with the author leaving the familiar, New York City, and flying into the unfamiliar, Moscow, Russia.

Finding 42 is a letting go of the known and often forced reality. It is about a man setting out to prove that a better reality was there for the creating. Within the journey, spiritual growth flourishes and an ancient knowledge is renewed in the strength, kindness, and beauty of the human spirit.

Book 1 is filled with stories and soulful connections with fellow travelers and locals alike. There is the story of Fire Horse in Mongolia, Tom Waits and Starbucks in Moscow, life aboard the Trans-Siberian Railroad, the Great Wall, and even a magical event in Luoyang, China. Fasten your seat belts, as it is all true.

Benny writes about his amazing travel adventures to encourage seekers of true freedom to follow their hearts and change their realities. In doing so, they will witness the deep connections we have to all humans, animals, and the earth. They will find Love.

In every village, city, and country, Benny high-fives, shares music, and exchanges smiles with people of all ages, cultures, ethnicities, and religions. He exchanges Love.

In 'Finding 42’, Benny brings readers along as not just observers, but as fellow travelers. In his heart, anyone who reads this series is instantly his friend. His hope is that it stirs the magic within us, to join him and change our reality into that of our desires and wishes.

Readers have given 'Finding 42' rave reviews. One stated, ". . . A trip of a lifetime, the friendships/memories made, the places visited, will make you wish you had traveled with him." Another said, ". . . This book was a real breath of fresh air. It was pure joy reading it and remembering it. I look forward to Benny's next book and all the fun, wonders and delights it will bring."

Benny Mailman is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at bennymailmansfinding42@gmail.com. 'Finding 42' is available at online book retailers. Best Selling Author Jody Sharpe Announces New Book, Town Of Angels Christmas, Best Seller In Holiday Fiction, Now Available On Kindle Unlimited

Sharpe is the author of a number of award-winning books and videos for adults and children that can help readers and viewers find hope, inspiration and gratitude.

We all remember Christmas books. For some of us, a Christmas book was the best present, in that it lasted for year after year. Bestselling author Jody Sharpe's career has been centered around writing stories about angels. Angels and Christmas just seem to go together, and now we have been given a gift that is worthy to be passed down from generation to generation: 'Town Of Angels Christmas'.

‘Town of Angels Christmas, A Tale Of Love And Animal Rescue' features the same town and many of the characters from ‘Town of Angels’. In this new novel, Sharpe addresses a number of new issues for her characters to deal with, including animal rescue.

A secret lies in Mystic Bay California. Angels live as humans there. Angel Ken, a store owner, fears the secret will be revealed when vet, Jordana Hart, a woman with special healing abilities moves to town. Years before Angel Ken materialized as an old man, changing the course of her life.

Will Jordana recognize Angel Ken as the man from her past as they work together on a rescue mission to bring twenty-two horses to Mystic Bay before Christmas, will they see what lies before them, a Christmas story only the angels could write.

Hope and dreams play major roles in all of her works, including her children's book, ‘When The Angel Sent Butterflies’ and ‘Special Needs Children The Angels On My Shoulder’. Sharpe addressed this in a recent blog post:

"Town of Angels Christmas, my latest novel, is 4th in the Mystic Bay Series. I’ve always loved Christmas time. My ideas for this story came from my love for animals and concern for all animals well-being. This story has a theme of horse rescue but also, as always, a theme of love and angels. To me the thought of love and angels goes together."

The full text of the piece is available at her website at http://www.jodysharpe.com.

Jody Sharpe recently announced that two new screen treatments of her books are now available: ‘The Angel's Daughter’ and ‘Town Of Angels Christmas’. Angelic presence on earth is the central theme of all the books in her Mystic Bay Series. The series is comprised of four books, the first of which, ‘The Angel's Daughter’, is now available on Kindle Unlimited.

Other books by Jody Sharpe include:

Town of Angels - It is angel vs. bully in the town of Mystic Bay, California, where a well-kept secret lies. Angels live as humans there. After angels appeared to three children all was blissful in the town full of psychics, and ordinary folk. But as a bully, Klaus Waxman, comes to town, Angel Ken Leighton, a store owner, must carefully guide his flock of humans not to give to in to the bully’s efforts. As Klaus opens a store mocking the resident angels sightings, Angel Ken guides psychic Justine Greer and her family to thwart his efforts. And with the help of the indomitable oldest psychic in town, Madam Norma, the bully meets his match with soft voices and intuitive minds…

Midwest's review of 'Town of Angels' said, "Those who welcome the thought, appearance, and approaches of angels in everyday life will relish the positive notes, mystery, and problem-solving attitudes of angel and human alike in this gentle story of kindness, hope, belief, and resolving differences."

To Catch An Angel - Jody is also the author of 'To Catch An Angel', written in memory of her late husband Steve. In 'To Catch An Angel', miracles happen in Mystic Bay, California, the town with the psychic and angel vibe. Angels are calling. Psychic Maggie Malone returns home to find she's swept up in the miracle of it all. She can't imagine why her mother left or who her father might be. But these questions pale in comparison to the wonder of the angels. Maggie meets writer, Noah Greenstreet. They realize they've met before, but where? Maggie and Noah embark on a journey to find our world is all awash with angels.

The Angel's Daughter - A secret lies in Mystic Bay, California and only two people know it. First there’s Hannah, a tender curly headed half Angel Then there’s her father, Gabe, an effervescent, teddy bear of a full-blooded angel. And it’s up to Hannah to keep the secret safe, but she’s made a colossal mistake telling her ex-boyfriend and writing professor, Sam Blakely. Now he’s written a book exposing the secret to the world.

Readers of the Mystic Bay Series who wish to start with the first book in the series can now access’ The Angel's Daughter’ on Kindle Unlimited. The book serves as a great introduction to Jody's concept of angels on earth.

'Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder' is a memoir based on her twenty-five years teaching children with special needs. The book placed second in the National Federation Of Press Women’s At-Large Communication contest. The book is as entertaining as it is illuminating. It’s a love story about the special students and others who over the years graced her life with just that, their grace.

With hearts of angels and challenges to face, the children took Sharpe along their journeys and inspired her own life’s journey of self-discovery. When sorrow came, their kindness helped her through. The synchronicity of events from high school to retirement changed her life for the better, turning her face toward heaven.

Midwest Book Review stated, "Sharpe's ability to see the good in circumstances and people identifies the 'special' in 'special needs' as she delineates her journey through the education system and those teaching and social encounters which changed her perspective and life.

"Teachers (especially those working with special needs kids) will find this spiritual and social reflection easily accessible. It's presented in vignettes which offer small, digestible bites of insight into a world where angels and kindness are present in more than one form."

‘Special Needs Children’ followed her recently released children's book about angels, ‘When The Angel Sent Butterflies’. The new book helps children understand that love from their parents and others surrounds them. Love conquers fear and believing that angels are near can help sweep any childhood fear away. This concept is presented in the book when Angel Ken sends Jones and Kate butterflies. The book, appropriate for ages 2 to 7, is now available at Amazon and Ingram.

In addition, on the 'Tuesdays With The Angels' section of her site, Sharpe presents stories of real life encounters with angels. The stories are available at Sharpe's website at http://www.jodysharpe.com.

Sharpe hopes to create a collection of angel stories that involve sightings of angels, interaction with angels, miraculous angel encounters and other types of accounts or stories. Everyone is welcome to submit angel stories. All submissions will be considered, but inclusion is not guaranteed. Stories may be submitted at http://bit.ly/2FV8amd.

Sharpe's YouTube channel brings all of this together, offering segments on all of these topics. One topic of special interest is bullying, specifically as it relates to special needs children.

In addition to the National Federation of Press Women’s award, Jody was chosen as a winner in the annual '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' Book Awards'. She was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors through a public voting process.

Jody Sharpe is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at sharpejody76@gmail.com. Angel stories can be submitted at http://bit.ly/2FV8amd. All of her books are available at online book retailers. New quotes will be added every Tuesday to the 'Tuesdays With The Angels' section of her blog, which can be found at her website at http://www.JodySharpe.com.

Profile:

Jody Sharpe had a rewarding career as a Special Education teacher. Writing about angels became healing after losing her daughter and then her husband. The valuable lessons she learned about moving forward and loving life in the now have set her on a mission to tell the stories with love, humor and spiritual awakening. The fictitious town of Mystic Bay has given her an avenue to put characters and themes together hopefully enlightening the reader towards contemplation of the precious life and memories we are given.

How To Hear The Voice Of God Is The Focus Of New Christian Book, Living A Parable, by Christian Author Silvia Davis, Available In Kindle Format At No Charge November 15 Through November 17

The new book serves as a devotional for women, a devotional for men and as a Bible study guide. The Kindle version of the new book will be available at no charge November 15 through November 17, 2021

In the Christian Bible we read story after story about the Voice of God speaking to our ancestors, but what does that really mean? Was there a voice booming from the sky? Or was it an internal voice, akin to a whisper? Or perhaps something else?

Most of us do not believe we can hear that Voice. But what if it is not an actual voice after all? Christian author Silvia Davis, in her latest Christian book titled 'Living A Parable, Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences', demonstrates that God speaks to us all day, every day through our personal experiences. God is always teaching and we find those lessons in unlikely experiences. This is not your typical Christian book.

Devotion to God, scripture references to study from the Bible, and lessons rooted in the Word, are pretty much where the similarities between Living a Parable and most other devotionals end. There is no daily reading plan or several made-up analogies that are used to bring forth the truth. 'Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences', is rather a testimony to how God uses life to teach us. Composed of several short and entertaining stories, 'Living a Parable' is a compilation of real-world experiences from the author's life, that will undoubtedly make you laugh and take you down your own memory lane.

“After reading this book readers will find themselves thinking, during the course of even their daily activities, 'I know there is a lesson in this for me somewhere.” Davis stated. “Readers will see from the examples in the book that life isn’t about simply going through the motions of daily life and checking off boxes. There is meaning to be found everywhere.”

Readers and reviewers alike have praised 'Living A Parable'. BookLife Reviews, sponsored by Publishers Weekly, stated, "A nostalgic portrayal of a Black Christian family and a call to prioritize worship, this guide extols the virtue of active devotion."

Another said, ". . .Although the book is an easy read I found myself taking my time reading it. I wanted to let the authors words sink in. At times I felt as if God was speaking to me through the words on the pages. We all go through things in our lives and the author has touched on many different trials in life that we all have gone through or are going through. This is definitely a book that I know I will find myself going back to over and over again." Another stated, " I found myself reading a chapter and putting the lesson in the context of my own life, seeing how God has worked in my and my experiences to teach me and others these lessons as well. It's an excellent read, and a wonderful way to be given more Bible knowledge."

The best Christian books help us hear the voice of God more clearly. 'Living A Parable' can serve as a Bible study guide and a devotional for both men and women, serving up a healthy dose of laughter while doing so.

Living A Parable will be available in Kindle format at Amazon at no charge November 15 through November 17, 2021. Silvia Davis is available for media interviews and speaking engagements and can be reached using the information below, or by email at silvia@livingaparable.com. 'Living A Parable' is available at online book retailers. More information is available at her website at http://www.livingaparable.com.

Climate Change, Political Upheaval, The Pandemic And A World In Chaos: Best Selling, Award Winning Author Donna Louis Shows Us How To Break The Grip Of Negativity In Thriving In Every Season Of Life With God

Louis is the multi-award-winning author of three inspirational Christian books. Louis’ books reveal God’s desire for our happiness and joy.

The past two years have taken a toll on people around the world. In addition to dealing with issues related to the pandemic, we have also been forced to address climate change, political unrest, social upheaval, shootings, drug addiction and a host of other challenges. Small wonder that many of us experience anxiety, depression, disillusionment, hopelessness and frustration. But it does not have to be that way.

The way out is not found in the external world. The way past these challenges is found internally - in our perception of events, our attitudes regarding life's everyday problems and the resulting mindset we cultivate. Donna Louis address these issues in her award-winning, best-selling books.

“Cultivating our minds to think positively and not negatively along with leaning on God and others is two of the most important things we can do for ourselves,” Louis stated. “Like Joyce Meyer says, ‘where the mind goes the man follows’ is very true. If you allow yourself to get caught up in all the negative things that are happening now you erase any chance of HOPE, and this is what stirs us to go on from second to minute to hour to days. God did not create us to live by ourselves, figure things out on our own. He created us to lean on him first but also to lean on others whether that is family, friends, co-workers, etc. This he made clear when he created Eve for Adam, also when he told Noah to take two of each animal and place in the ark. God has an awesome thriving life in store for all of us, but we must have hope, keep the faith, trust, believe, pray bold prayers, and lean on.”

Donna Louis’ latest best-selling book, ‘Thriving in Every Season of Life with God’, gives us a road map to create a mindset - a new life in which we can learn to prosper in any circumstance, however dire. The book achieved bestseller status in two categories: Spiritual Self Help and Motivational Self Help.

To understand what it means to "thrive," we must look beyond the dimension of finances. The concept of thriving can be applied to our health, our relationships, our habits and our peace of mind. God wants us to thrive. But it does not just happen - we must take action to make it happen.

Set against the backdrop of four "seasons of life", Louis, in the tradition of writers such as Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer, discusses how you can thrive, prosper, and flourish. Much like growing crops, we prepare in spring, grow in summer, harvest in fall and rest in winter. At times, we must nurture and cultivate, at other times we bloom and reproduce, and at other times we harvest and replant.

Thriving In Every Season Of Life With God is a book that can be read in just a few hours and provides readers with powerful ideas and concepts that can be implemented immediately, allowing them to thrive in the midst of adversity. The book received a five-star rating from Readers Favorite.

Donna also presents powerful ideas and concepts via her Youtube video series, ‘Motivational Mondays With Donna’. The October 2021 lineup includes:

Count Your Blessings
Pain
Grace
Conscientiousness

The video series is available at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJCieSU2FYdC09F3YNkfzDw.

Louis is also the author of 'Book of Proverbs, Wisdom vs. Wilderness', which delves deeply into the timeless human quest for wisdom. As all Christians know, the primary purpose of the Biblical Book of Proverbs is to teach wisdom. The Book of Proverbs provides intellectual depth, insights, and exceptional wisdom on how to live a meaningful, joyful and tranquil life by honoring and respecting God as omnipotent.

'Book Of Proverbs' discusses all chapters in Proverbs 1-31 and brings insight, clarity, and basic meaning to several verses in each chapter. It clarifies why wisdom is not only essential, but mandatory in life, if one hopes to live a blessed life, versus living destitute, empty, or feeling lost or hopeless.

Donna Louis' first book, 'Miracles of Direction, Miracles of Conquest, Miracles of Provision and Miracles of Purpose' helps readers explore miracles both past and present. The book explores biblical miracles that took place while Jesus was here on earth. She then references with miracles that take place on a daily basis in the modern world. She separates these miracles into four categories and presents insightful examples of each type, taken directly from the Bible.

Louis knows her subject well, as she has personally experienced four miracles. As the result of those life-altering experiences, she began an in-depth study of some of Christianity's most well-documented miracles. In her book, she attempts to expand upon and explain both the purpose and the direction of those miracles.

Louis has won a number of industry awards. She was chosen as the winner in the 2018 Top Female Author Awards in the Religion/Philosophy/Spiritual category. The Pandemic’s Toll On Our Mental Health Is Staggering, But We Can Find Joy Everywhere Says Louise Pistole, Best Selling Author Of Discover Your Joy

Pistole is a best-selling author, blogger, coach and motivational speaker who describes herself as a "joy-fanatic".

Today the headlines dramatically illustrate the breadth and scope of the ill effects brought on by the Covid 19 pandemic. It has affected our lives in many ways from stress and alcohol to exercise and child care. In fact, there is hardly any part of our lives that has gone unscathed. Furthermore, as problems continue to rise, solutions do not readily present themselves:

“…the World Health Organization (WHO) emergency committee said the pandemic is far from over, though countries are making progress in rolling out vaccines and treatments,” according to an article by the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy.

The Hill states, “The pandemic has made a multi-faceted impact in our lives, which has exacerbated existing mental health issues and created new cases of depression and anxiety disorders. We have had to deal with the effects of the virus on the brain as well as the body. We endured loneliness from extended shutdowns, sheltering in place and social distancing. The loss of daily structure of our pre-pandemic lives and the insecurity we experienced in its wake. Many experienced loss of income and long-term unemployment. Sleep difficulties are more prevalent, due to overwhelming anxiety, changes in structure and increased weight. The pandemic has stressed us emotionally, physically and financially. “

NBC News has reported, “Stress from the pandemic has people struggling to make decisions large and small, with nearly a third of adults questioning even basic day-to-day choices, according to a new report.

"The American Psychological Association's "Stress in America" survey, conducted by the Harris Poll, found that 32 percent of adults are so stressed by the pandemic, they sometimes wrestle with daily tasks, such as choosing what to eat or what to wear.”

Healthline.com issued a report stating, “Many people in the United States may be drinking more alcohol as a way of dealing with the stress and disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic, suggest several surveys. Some may even have slipped into “gray area” drinking — that realm between healthy levels of alcohol consumption and a diagnosed alcohol use disorder.”

Child care has taken a hit as reported by CBS News, “Across the country, there is a growing child care crisis. It's a crisis made worse by the pandemic and stagnant wages."

These are but a small sampling of the problems we face today. So what is the answer? Best selling author Louise Pistole offers some solutions, based on her best selling book, Discover Your Joy:

“Even though there are no magical answers to all the problems brought on by the pandemic, there are things we all can do to help ourselves and others.” Pistole stated.

“Start by focusing on the good things in life. This could be family, job, hobbies, or anything that is meaningful. Read something inspirational or motivational every day. Listen to a few uplifting podcasts.

“Take time every day to go outside. Take a walk without your phone in hand or earbuds. Observe the sights and sounds around you. Soak in the sunshine and fresh air. You’ll also feel better after getting some exercise.

“Try to take steps to interact with people every day. Share your story of how you or your family are doing under the circumstances. Soak in any encouragement that is offered and reciprocate as needed. Conversation and sharing offers hope to face a new day and new challenges.

“We know that consuming alcohol to deal with the stress of the pandemic will mask the problem instead of leading to a solution. But when times have been rough for so long, it’s difficult to recount the reasons not to drink alcohol.

“Encourage friends/family to seek guidance before the alcohol becomes a habit. There are ways to break the cycle and find positive ways to deal with stress. Kindness and encouraging words will help people find their way out of the negativity of the pandemic.

“Phone a friend or family member for actual conversation. It’s more personal than texts. You can hear their voice or their laughter. The conversation is stimulating. Encourage each other to keep moving forward.

“Get enough rest. Sign off from your electronic devices early in the evening. Use the time to read, meditate, or other quiet activities.

“Be prepared to deal with the effects of the pandemic on your life for a long time still to come. But rather than allow the pandemic to cause worry or anxiety, use some of these suggestions to move towards living a positive and joyful life."

Discover Your Joy

How does one actually live a life filled with joy? Best-selling author and motivational speaker Louise Pistole has discovered the key to doing just that. She gives us that key in her best-selling book, 'Discover Your Joy: Daily Splashes of Inspiration for Living an Abundant Life of Happiness, Blessings, and Inner Peace'. It is a book unlike any other you will ever read.

While many of us believe that happiness is found at the end of some long, arduous process, it is instead that we begin from a state of joy. Some of us have it backwards. Joy is not a reward - it is a choice. And because it is a choice, it is something over which we hold total control. That choice can be made now - today.

Many of us feel hopeless and joyless. Perhaps our intentions are out of alignment with our actions. Surprisingly we can live in joy every day of our lives, but again - it is a choice.

"I made my choice one Sunday morning about 12 years ago when my minister spoke about being joyful and watching out for joy-stealers," Pistole stated. "His message resonated with me and I began my journey to joy through reading, studying, and writing. As I began choosing joy day after day, it gradually became a habit in my life. Now my mission is to guide others to discover their own joy through these daily inspirational readings."

In Discover Your Joy, readers will:

• Enjoy daily inspiration for happiness and joyfulness,
• Learn how to live an abundant life filled with gratitude, hope, and joy,
• Discover inner peace through encouraging words,
• Discover how to become a Joy-Fanatic and enjoy one's best life.

A quick inspirational read every morning helps readers discover ‘moments of joy’ each day. Chock full of encouragement and motivation, readers will learn to seek and experience gratitude, hope, and true joy.

Readers and reviewers alike have praised 'Discover Your Joy'. One said, "Each page in "Discover Your Joy" is a simple and beautiful reminder that the world may not be perfect, there will always be the ups and the downs, but we have the ability to CHOOSE each day how we will use this gift we call life. I highly recommend this book!!" Another stated, "Pistole gives great insight into ways to remind us that our joy is important and to beware of “joy stealers”. This book is a great way to start your mornings with a great cup of coffee and to discover your joy each and every day!"

Louise Pistole is available for media interviews and speaking engagements and can be reached using the information below or by email at pistole9@gmail.com. 'Discover Your Joy: Daily Splashes of Inspiration for Living an Abundant Life of Happiness, Blessings, and Inner Peace' is available in several formats at Amazon and other book retailers. The Best Holiday Gift For Veterans: Veterans Rave About Tom Burkhalter's No Merciful War Series, Kindle Book Available At No Charge November 10 through November 12, 2021

Tom Burkhalter writes dramatic stories in the tradition of James Jones, W.E.B. Griffin and C.S. Forester that share a no-nonsense view towards war and an attention to substance that is extraordinary.

Historical fiction author Tom Burkhalter has announced that the first book in the No Merciful Was Series, Everything We Had, will be available in Kindle format at no charge November 10 through November 12, 2021.

Tom Burkhalter has gained a reputation for air war realism that goes far beyond the ordinary. He has an uncanny talent for taking readers back in time, placing them squarely into the very center of the action through creating books rich in detail, providing a reading experience that is extraordinary. In every novel Burkhalter writes, edge-of-the-seat air war scenes are blended with tactical mastery to create not just a great novel, but also an immersive adventure.

All of Burkhalter's books are enhanced by an unparalleled level of technical and historical detail, based on rock solid research and real world expertise. He maintains a laser-sharp focus on providing the reader with tales that are breathtaking. Veterans find this especially appealing, as they have "been there, done that," and instantly recognize whether the author has done the research to develop that sense of realism. In addition to James Jones, W.E.B. Griffin and C.S. Forester, Burkhalter's writing style has been compared to Louis L'Amour, David Baldacci and Vince Flynn.

Many of his top reviews come from veterans who have actually "been there" and "done that". What do veterans have to say about the series?

Brilliant! The books that are part of Tom Burkhalter's 'No Merciful War' series are, without exception, rare gems that are entertaining, historically spot on, and a joy to read. Tom has not only created a cast of characters who are as real as the officers and enlisted men I have had the privilege of serving with, he leaves you wanting to see more of them. Even more impressive is his ability to succinctly depict the tactical and technical aspects of aerial combat. A must-read for anyone interested in the Pacific War when victory was far from certain.
Harold Coyle - Author of Team Yankee

Characters that stay with you!
I give a 5-star rating to each book in this series.
I appreciate Burkhalter's extensive research; that hard work made this novel come to life.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book
I'm a Tom Clancy and John Grisham fan. I love the way these guys use rich detail to help tell the story and help me "feel" and "see" what I am reading about. Tom Burkhalter is that kind of story teller. He's in their class. I'm reading Tom's second book now and will give it as glowing a review. Tom is not an author wannabe. He's the real deal. A master story teller and meticulous researcher. I'm going to read all of his books. Yup, he's that good!

Robert T. Holmes
5.0 out of 5 stars Great fictional account of FEAF World War II
My Great Uncle was a member of the 19th Bomber Group who died in a Japanese hell ship. This book gave me better insights into his experience.

Richard E. Kurtz
5.0 out of 5 stars The begining of World War 2 in the Philipines
ok for people who normally read non- fiction history only but occasionally like to read a good novel based on history. This novel tells the story of two Army Air Corps pilots in Manila during November and December 1941. One brother flies a P-40 and the other is the pilot on a B-17. Almost every sentence has factual technical references such as manifold pressure of the B-17's radial engines or the oil pressure of the Allison inline engines of the P-40'S.

Ernest L. Levin
5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Generation, Indeed!
This was like listening to one of my uncle’s (now deceased) reminiscences of his years in the Philippines during and after MacArthur. Remarkable research.

JR Hafer, aviation writer
5.0 out of 5 stars A fine historical fiction novel
Now what I personally like about historical fiction is the blending of setting and historical fact with an engaging story line to produce a work that is educational and informative as well as entertaining. And this author has done his homework! The flying scenes are not too technical, so a non-aviator can enjoy reading this book without getting lost in the jargon. But it will also keep the seasoned fliers interested and entertained. In fact they will both hastily keep turning the pages!

Richard Schofield
5.0 out of 5 stars An early WWII drama about those who fought when there was hardly anything to fight with
Burkhalter shines however in bringing the reader's attention down to the level of understanding the intricate logistics, flying procedures, effect of flight experience, and mechanics of air to air, and air to ground battle, from the airman's point of view - as in, that of pilot, gunner, and navigator. Burkhalter writes with a sense of knowing these vintage World War II airplanes inside out, and should, given his post for many years as one of the curators of the Hickory Aviation Museum, and writer and editor of its monthly newsletter.

OldSoldierSix
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Research and GOOD WRITING!
I am now into Book #4 of this series "No Merciful War," and must say this is some of the best fact-based military history fiction I've ever read. Author Tom Burkhalter's research is outstanding, his characters believable, and given my personal knowledge of the Pacific islands involved and the campaigns fought there, all details ring true. I highly recommend it.

Beau Crosby
5.0 out of 5 stars Burkhalter's Everything and Snowball Bang on
Brought back memories of working on R-1820s on Spookys and R-3350s for AC-119s. Later on 18 deployments to Incirlik from Torrejon these two yarns are as real as it gets. Fighter crews (Pursuit & Attack) still talked that way 69-72. Burkhalter is one or has lived with them! An Air Force W.E.B. Griffin.

Bob Waterfield, NREMT USN(ret)
5.0 out of 5 stars Great read . History told thru fiction!
Characters were believable. History told thru fiction. Life and death struggles of the beginnings of WW2. Highly recommend this series.

Books in the No Merciful War series by Tom Burkhalter include:

Everything We Had: a Novel of the Southwest Pacific Air War, November-December 1941

Japan surrounds American possessions in the Philippines with overwhelming force on three sides. The US Army desperately attempts to reinforce the Philippines garrison, but the armed forces of Imperial Japan may attack at any moment. Two brothers, Jack and Charlie Davis, are pilots in the US Army Air Forces. When they are sent to the Far Eastern Air Forces in the Philippines, they must depend on every ounce of courage, training, and skill they have to survive the coming war.

A Snowball’s Chance: a Novel of the Pacific Air War, January-February 1942

The victorious Japanese come south in overwhelming numbers, heading for the rich oil fields of Dutch possessions in Java and Borneo. The Allies send Jack and Charlie Davis and their friends, outnumbered and in obsolescent airplanes at the end of a long vulnerable supply line, to help the British and Dutch attempt to stop the Japanese Army and Navy. As the Dutch say, “Luck to the fighters!”

Boxcar Red Leader: a Novel of the Pacific Air War, May 1942

The Imperial Japanese Navy sails to invade Port Moresby, the last Allied base between the Japanese and Australia. If the Japanese take Port Moresby, Australia’s supply line to the United States will be cut. Jack Davis is sent to Port Moresby to command a flight of untrained young pilots flying a dangerous airplane no one wants, the P-39D Airacobra. Charlie Davis, now flying the B-17E Bronco Buster II, flies dangerous reconnaissance missions looking for the Japanese fleet. The Allies have lost the Philippines and Java. Can they hold Port Moresby?

Thanks for the Memories: a Novel of the SW Pacific Air War July-September 1942

It is July 1, 1942. The United States has been fighting in the Pacific for nearly seven months. The Japanese advance halted west of Australia at the island of Timor, and from Timor the Japanese stage bombing raids on Darwin. In the north, the Japanese hold the former Australian possessions of New Ireland and New Britain, including the town of Rabaul in the north of New Britain. Holding Rabaul gives the Japanese possession of Simpson Harbor, a deep-water port that the Japanese turn into a formidable forward base, swarming with Zeros and antiaircraft weapons. Rabaul begins to earn an evil reputation among the bomber crews of the USAAF and RAAF who fly there.

The New Kids: A Novel of the Air War on the Home Front August-September 1942

Military romance takes center stage in The New Kids, 5th book in master storyteller Tom Burkhalter’s No Merciful War series. Brothers Jack and Charlie Davis, survivors of nine months of vicious air fighting, return home to the challenges of long-deferred love, of living with memories of war, and of passing on lessons learned in combat to new pilots training for a much different air war over Europe. They may have survived the Pacific, but the war has only begun.

Shoestring's End: a Novel of the Pacific Air War, Dec 1942 - March 1943

Shoestring’s End begins as the disastrous year of 1942 ends. The Japanese toehold on the northern New Guinea coast, remnant of their advance almost to the gates of Port Moresby, has nearly been wiped out. The Japanese focus their efforts on reinforcing their forward base at Lae, on the Huon Gulf. The mission of the 5th Air Force is to cut off Lae. They must do this while fighting at the end of a shoestring, a supply line ten thousand miles long, using airplanes like the much-patched B-17E Bronco Buster II or the worn P-39D Airacobras of the 35th Fighter Group. New airplanes and new tactics arrive in an uncertain trickle. The Allied infantry, Australian and American, based in New Guinea, are exhausted from fighting and jungle diseases. If the Japanese reinforce Lae, the outcome of the war in the SW Pacific will remain unpredictable.

The Kindle version of Everthing We Had, the first book in the No Merciful War series, will be available at Amazon at no charge November 10 - November 12, 2021. Discounted pricing at $2.99 will run through the end of November. Tom Burkhalter is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at boxcarred3@gmail.com. All of his books are available at major book retailers. More information is available at his website at http://www.thomasburkhalter.com.
