Best-selling Canadian author Terezia Farkas offers strategies for dealing with depression, encouragement and hope in her latest best-selling book about depression, 'Heart Of Love Evolution'
Holidays are a special time of year for many reasons. For some people however the Holiday season is a time when depression hits hardest. This may be the result of anxiety, stress or increased responsibility. For many the primary cause of depression is loneliness. Best-selling Canadian author Terezia Farkas offers strategies for dealing with depression, encouragement and hope in her latest best-selling book about depression, 'Heart Of Love Evolution'. She is uniquely qualified to offer tips to avoid the Holiday depression trap. Here are 6 tips Terezia offers for the holiday season
1. Connect. Call over friends. One will do fine, because the goal is for you to have supportive, non-judgemental support. Talk to your neighbour. You’ll be surprised that a neighbour can become a close friend. Even pets stave off loneliness. If depression starts feeling severe, seek professional support.
2. No Shame. We’re scared of what people will think about us. Stigma keeps us from talking with others about what hurts. Don’t be embarrassed. Depression isn’t just a mental disease, it’s a whole body illness like cancer. Depression affects 1 in 4 so chances are someone you know also suffers with depression.
3. Expect the bad, accept the good. Expect bad emotional days. Accept any day or moment that’s good. If you usually cry every morning or don’t feel like getting up, accept that’s how you’ll be during the holidays. But don’t expect that’s how the rest of the day will go. Life can feel good so enjoy those moments and let yourself feel happy.
4. Avoid Family Drama. People don’t change who they are overnight. Nor will they suddenly love you or want to be your friend. Family drama only diminishes your self-esteem, isolates you, and leaves you feeling more alone than before. Be realistic and know that others are bringing personal baggage to the party.
5. You First. Need alone time? Take it! Be gentle with yourself. Treat yourself first. Give yourself permission to feel miserable or to cry. Accept practical help when offered. You don’t have to do everything yourself. Let others lift some of the load off your shoulders.
6. Grieve. Grief shouldn’t be hidden. Discuss with others the triggers that upset you or conversations that offend you. Let them know its okay to say the name of the deceased. Honour your loved one by doing things you did together or set an extra seat at the table.
Terezia Farkas never imagined that she would attempt suicide until she slipped deeper and deeper into a state of desperation and depression. Her attempted suicides were a slow wake-up call that she needed to love herself. Her example shows that overcoming depression, while challenging, is not impossible.
Terezia was strong enough to survive her dark nights of the soul. She turned her life around by looking for the light within her experiences and through loving herself. She eventually found her soul path that at the end led her to a higher level of being and self-love. Terezia's message of hope and self-love shows that those who suffer from depression can go past the pain and hopelessness and can end up recovering from depression. Terezia has come back from the brink to create a new life centered upon helping others overcome depression.
Terezia is now an International Bestselling author, Huffington Post regular contributor, and columnist. Her ‘Depression Help’ on Beliefnet focuses on mental health. She is involved with CDRIN (Canadian Depression Research and Intervention Network) and created her own fundraiser for the Canadian Mental Health Association. She was invited to attend the Global Crisis of Depression Summit offered by The Economist at Kings Place in London on November 25, 2014.

Christmas Ideas For Young Readers - 'Biodesign Out For A Walk' By Author Lowell Harrison Young Now Available
In 'Biodesign Out For A Walk', Young relates his experiences over 24 years as 700 students and 400 chaperones followed the footsteps of John Muir and slept on the top of Yosemite’s famous Half Dome. The experiences in the classroom and in the wilderness provided real life lessons that changed lives
Biology is not usually high on the list of life-changing experiences for most students. However most students did not have Lowell Harrison Young as their Biology instructor. Young developed a one-of-a-kind advanced class in biology that dramatically affected the perceptions of hundreds of students and, in many cases, provided a new paradigm that dramatically altered the lives of many of them. 24 years and 700 students later, Young recounts some of these life altering experiences in 'Biodesign Out For A Walk'.
One student and her classmates rightfully and intuitively questioned the validity of memorizing all the parts of a fetal pig, when most of them would likely never have use for that information. When Young opened the door and students were given the chance to discuss what was really important to them, the students opened up and shared hopes, dreams and desires to learn to be more loving, compassionate people.
Over the next 24 years, Young's Biodesign class gave high school students the chance to go into the wilderness and discover the interactions of plants, animals and themselves. Unlike most biology classes, this class was dedicated to studying biology by exercising the illimitable freedom of the human mind and probing the mysteries of the physical, mental and spiritual nature of man.
Following the footsteps of John Muir, they slept on the top of Yosemite’s famous Half Dome and followed Loren Eiseley and John Wesley Powell to the bottom of Grand Canyon. Ed Ricketts and John Steinbeck led them into forests and tide pools of California’s beautiful Mendocino coast.
The book has fifteen 5 star ratings on Amazon. Reviewers have stated, "Your amazing book recounting an amazing set of adventures is too superlative to describe," and, "What you have done for so many students and chaperones is truly remarkable."
'Biodesign Out For A Walk' is a great gift for students in high school or college. Educators could benefit from the unique and engaging stories that might serve to help develop new and exciting approaches to dry subject matters or to help improve attitudes and morale in the classroom.
Lowell Harrison Young is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at young.lowell@gmail.com. 'Biodesign Out For A Walk' is available at Amazon, Outskirts Press and Barnes and Noble. A Facebook page is available at http://www.facebook.com/biodesignoutforawalk. More information is available at Young's website at http://biodesignoutforawalk.com.
Profile:
Lowell Young and his wife, Christie, have lived in California’s Napa Valley for over 40 years. Mr. Young taught high school biology for nearly 38 years before he retired. He holds a Masters’ Degree in the art of teaching biology.
The class that evolved into Biodesign was a collaborative, creative project where the roles of teacher and student were often reversed. It was well known by the students that although Mr. Young represented the physical nature of the class, Christie’s silent spiritual guidance was often felt in their classroom circles as well as along the many miles of trails they walked. The Biodesign class may be the only one of its kind taught in a public high school in the country.

Christmas Gift Ideas For Romantics - Romantic Fiction Novel 'Passions In Paris' By Author Rusty Blackwood Now Available
Blackwood's new romance novel presents an intense story of soul mates whose love spans lifetimes. The story is written in the tradition of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' and 'What Dreams May Come'. Recent reviewers have compared it to Erich Segal's 'Love Story' and Nicholas Sparks' 'The Notebook'
Canadian Indie author Rusty Blackwood romantic fiction novel, 'Passions in Paris: Revelations Of A Lost Diary' is a sweeping saga written in the tradition of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' and 'What Dreams May Come'. It has been compared to Erich Segal's 'Love Story' and Nicholas Sparks' 'The Notebook'. The novel has also received extremely positive reviews from reviewers. The book makes a perfect holiday gift for those who enjoy romance novels written on a grand scale.
"If anyone were to ask me if Passions in Paris would make a great Christmas gift," explains Rusty Blackwood, " I would definitely say yes, and I don't say this simply because I wrote it, but because I truly do believe it. Christmas is a very special time, filled with love, giving, and sentiment of the heart, and what better way to tell that certain someone how you feel then by giving the gift of romantic, descriptive word that can sweep their heart to a most special place, and time."
In the new novel the city of Paris, one of the most romantic places in the world, sets the scene for 'Passions In Paris'. The book is peppered with drama, intrigue, deception, adultery and jealousy. The fictional romance centers on star-crossed lovers Joy Wychmere and Cullen Malone. A diary, lost for almost half a century, opens a door to the past and one fateful evening changes two lives forever.
Linkk Kula Kane said, "Passions in Paris I think stands it ground with these other powerful romantic stories like 'The Notebook' by Nicolas Sparks. A long kindled love, which finds its place from a romantic spark in the mind of one, to a mounting real life experience between two different worlds, brought together by an on going weave of circumstances, doubts, mystery, and intrigue, that sets ablaze forbidden emotions on a roller coaster ride of endless desire, and surmounting obstacles, that test the strength of their determination to prevail. Miss Blackwood has a rare talent to bring this and more into the minds and hearts of those who have had the privilege to be transported into her wonderful world of story telling."
Reader Fred Pifer stated the new romance book, "is a fascinating book of a love story that seemed to be written with me in mind. In the book 'Love Story' by Erich Segal, he told of a deep abiding love story that reminds me of Cullen and Joy’s in Ms. Blackwood’s book, but the twists of intrigue and mystery that she adds keeps the reader on edge throughout."
Other reviewers have praised the new romance book. Reviewer Cat Howard said, "Eternal love, finding your true soul mate, and how echoes from past lives can influence the present, this story has it all . . . " Another Reader's Favorite reviewer stated, "Enjoyable and exciting, this is a book for people who have romance flowing in their veins."
Readers can download the Kindle version at Amazon.com. 'Passions In Paris: Revelations Of A Lost Diary' is also available at Amazon in paperback, Barnes and Noble in paperback and Nook versions, at Create Space and in all electronic versions at Smashwords.

Suicide And Suicide Prevention: Pat Chalfant, Author Of 'Spirit Lights', Offers A Unique Perspective
Robin Williams' suicide brought the subject of consciously choosing death to the forefront of our collective consciousness. Pat Chalfant reminds us that suicide is not necessarily the end and that there is hope for those whose lives have been affected by suicide
Suicide statistics are staggering. According to the CDC website, suicide is ranked in 10th place in leading causes of death. These sobering statistics show us that no group - regardless of age, race or gender - is unaffected. Pat Chalfant, CARE Certified medium and author of 'Spirit Lights A Path to Mediumship' believes suicide is not the end of one's existence. Like Pat, many people believe this to be the case. Chalfant however offers proof.
"I have a story in the beginning of my book," Chalfant stated, "about a woman named Sonia whose fiancé committed suicide and subsequently she began to have suicidal ideology, too. She got in touch with me hoping to study with me until she was able to contact him on the Other Side of life for herself. I gave her a reading first and successfully identified him as a spirit trying to reach her, and because of that she asked to study with me. I told her she probably wouldn’t learn enough to be able to reach him for quite some time. She said she still wanted to try."
"She was miraculously cured of her suicidal ideology one day as she and I were meditating together when she saw her fiancé and knew he was alive now and perfectly well and happy. Then she saw Jesus Christ (remarkable because she was a Hindu and had never read the Christian Bible). The effects of that experience lingered so strongly with her for weeks afterward that she could close her eyes and would see the image of Christ’s face, just as he had looked when she was 'cured'.”
Chalfant's new book, 'Spirit Lights A Path To Mediumship', explains how she, a real skeptic regarding such matters, developed mediumship abilities and now lives a life transformed by the spiritual. She considers her groundbreaking book to be an "autobiographical textbook".
Mediumship is a controversial issue and Pat understands this, but she also believes that credible mediumship holds the promise of real benefits for mankind that have not been fully explored. This is especially true for those who are contemplating suicide, or those whose lives have been affected by suicide or loss of a loved one.
In addition to offering one-on-one client consultations, Pat has penned the 'Spirit Lights Song Book' and three of those songs are in the National Spiritualist Ass’n of Churches hymn book. She does readings for clients by phone and teaches mediumship development classes. She has also created a DVD entitled 'Spirit Lights Psychic Development DVD'.
"The book would be an ideal Holiday gift for those who need some inspiration or a lift of Spirit during the Holiday Season," Chalfant stated. "This time of year can be difficult for some people. The book would be a great gift for those who hope to take their budding mediumship abilities to the next level. The four five-star reviews of the book include: ‘Mediumship at its finest,’ ‘Great book. Well written and very inspirational,’ ‘Helpful for beginners and all levels,’ ‘This book is one of the best.’"
Pat Chalfant is currently appearing on The Authors Show. Her interview is available now at The Authors Show site. 'Spirit Lights A Path To Mediumship' is available at her website and at Amazon. Pat is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at pat.chalfant@patchalfant.com. More information is available at her website at http://www.patchalfant.com.
About Pat Chalfant:
Oregon Spiritualist Medium Pat Chalfant's amazing psychic gifts have helped hundreds of individuals worldwide. Pat has written a column on parapsychology and interviewed Hollywood stars and the psychics who read for them for a national newspaper. Other topics she’s taught and written about are: past life therapy, death and dying, the Edgar Cayce work, the Cathars, and Spiritual healing.
The Association for Past Life Research and Therapies newsletter published a series of her interviews with psychiatrists, psychologists, and hypnotherapists who were all west coast pioneers of past life therapy. Pat believes that series is destined to become a book.
A singer/songwriter, three of her songs are in the National Spiritualist Association of Churches hymnal. She teaches internationally online and also hosts an online Spiritualist circle, Spirit Lights Chapel.

Tonia M. Oldham, Author Of ‘Life Beyond Adversities’ Chosen As Finalist For '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'
Tonia was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors who entered the awards contest. 'Life Beyond Adversities' is an inspirational, spirit filled memoir
Tonia Oldham, author of 'Life Beyond Adversities' has been chosen as a finalist for '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'. Winners will appear in this years edition of the book. Tonia Oldham was chosen as the result of an essay submission to the awards contest.
An encouraging, inspirational, spirit-filled, and at times, funny book that highlights Tonia's real life-changing experiences, 'Life Beyond Adversities' will take the reader on a military and spiritual journey where Tonia traveled the country as a singer and a dancer in the military. She encountered many bumps in the road, as well as exhilarating experiences, such as getting selected for that prestigious entertainment group, Air Force Tops in Blue. Her journey also entails many adversities and obstacles, but she did not allow them to impede or stifle her plans, hopes and dreams. Instead, she used them as a springboard to catapult her to bigger and better things, such as getting promoted to Chief Master Sergeant and living a more peaceful and spirit-filled life. In spite of illnesses, divorce, racism and sexual harassment, she continues to live her life beyond adversities.
“I wrote this book because I wanted to share my real life experiences and the challenges I endured before, during and after serving almost 24 years in the Air Force. I want my readers to find hope and inspiration from the manner in which I persevered through illness, divorce, racism, sexual harassment, verbal abuse and at times, lack of faith. This book illustrates how my singing, Christian upbringing, and God’s Holy Word helped me to overcome many of the adversities I faced during my adult life. After reading this book, the reader will be encouraged to live beyond life’s adversities and achieve the victory.”
Tonia reached a huge milestone when she enlisted in the Air Force and was eventually selected for promotion to the highest enlisted rank, Chief Master Sergeant. Only the top 1 percent of all enlisted members achieves this rank. Her military travels took her to various locations, which include the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Air Staff at the Pentagon, Washington DC; The Air Force Personnel Center, Randolph Air Force Base, TX; and Headquarters United States Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. She also served at Chanute Air Force Base, IL; Robins Air Force Base, GA; Castle Air Force Base, CA; and Kelly Air Force Base, TX. Tonia’s military decorations and awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medals, Air Force Commendation Medals, Air Staff Senior NCO of the Year, NCO of the Year and many other awards and recognitions.
Tonia traveled extensively as a member of the prestigious Air Force Tops in Blue entertainment showcase. Tonia was judged by and shared the stage with many professional and famous entertainers. She also traveled the country singing the National Anthem for top-ranking military officials, political appointees, civic organizations, as well as professional and collegiate sporting events. Additionally, she sang the National Anthem five consecutive years for the Detroit Tigers during their spring training opening games against the Florida Southern College Moccasin Baseball team.
Immediately following her military retirement, Tonia served in numerous capacities at a Fortune 500 company. This company afforded her the opportunity to give personal financial management presentations to students at colleges and universities in the eight southeastern states. This company also paved the way for her to use her speaking and singing talents at numerous locations in the United States.
Tonia Oldham is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at ctoldham@verizon.net. Books are available at Amazon. This company also paved the way for her to use her speaking and singing talents at numerous locations in the United States.
