Lois W. Stern, Author Of Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery, Featured On The Authors Show Radio

Nationally known author and expert on cosmetic surgery details how to make cosmetic surgery experience a success.

Nationally known author and expert on cosmetic surgery, Lois W. Stern, will appear on Authors Show Radio through November 7, 2009.

In this interview Lois provides advice taken from her book, Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery, which features the real life experiences of over 100 women who have had cosmetic surgery (including those of the author), to help anyone considering cosmetic surgery make good decisions. But a further strength and focus of her book is its exploration into the emotional undercurrents to this event. Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery including those of the author. Her candid, open and honest approach to formerly taboo subjects such as post-surgery sexuality, patients’ feelings of attraction toward their plastic surgeons and underlying ambivalences and unrecognized motivations make this a groundbreaking book on many levels. In the Foreword to Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. David Sarwer, Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, writes: “Stern does readers a great favor in examining these “don’t ask, don’t tell experiences. “

Stern provides many helpful charts, checklists and quizzes to educate and guide the prospective cosmetic surgery patient, helping them to answer crucial questions such as: What facts should I know before deciding on cosmetic surgery? How do I determine if I am a good cosmetic surgery candidate? How can I best evaluate the skills, talent and experience of a surgeon? What are the most important questions to ask during a consultation? What are the essential facts I need to share? How do I best partner with my surgeon for optimal results? A comprehensive timeline checklist detailing what to do when provides many helpful tips each step of the way.

”‘I think it is important for people to understand,” stated Ms. Stern, “how cosmetic surgery can impact relationships in our daily lives, in the workplace, in our social interactions – even in the bedroom. There are many good reasons to consider cosmetic surgery. However, there are just as many bad reasons to consider having this surgery."

Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery is now in its second printing, and will soon be released with an interactive CD to expand its usefulness while offering audio and video segments not found in the original book. Last year Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery was featured on page 2 of the Style section of the New York Times. It has garnered a number of industry awards including: Montauk Sun Book of the Month (April 2007), The Infinite Writer Book of the Month (May of 2007) and Wizards of Words Book of the Month (June of 2007).
