According to the Vitamin D Council, current research has also implicated sunlight and vitamin D deficiency as a major factor in the pathology of at least 17 varieties of cancer as well as heart disease, stroke, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, muscle wasting, birth defects, periodontal disease, and much more.
For many years, the American public has been told that direct sunlight is counterproductive to good health. Many people have come to believe it necessary to avoid direct sunlight. However, as real science clearly demonstrates, all humans are absolutely dependent on the absorption of vital solar radiation.
”Without light there simply is no health,” states Ken Ceder, CEO of bioLight Group. “We are human photocells whose ultimate biological nutrient is sunlight. Every metabolic process, from enzyme reactions to muscular movements to the digestion of food and the burning of fat, is an electro-chemical biological process regulated and augmented by sunlight energy. A reduction of natural light energy causes a slowdown in these processes leading to decreased metabolism, reduced burning of fat, reduced vitality and compromised immunity.”
Now more than ever millions of people have unwittingly become ‘contemporary cave-dwellers’ living and working indoors. This dramatic reduction of natural light exposure — light that human DNA is programmed to assimilate — and its’ associated disturbance to vital circadian rhythms, has contributed to many health related issues. The late Dr. John Ott, renowned photo biologist and father of full-spectrum light, had coined this adverse health phenomenon "Mal-illumination."
“Like malnutrition,” continued Mr. Ceder, “mal-illumination deprives one of a level of nutrients and rhythmic stimulation that is essential for living as healthy humans. Everyone knows the sun rises and sets every day — this essential cycle sets the basic rhythm of all life. Unknowingly, or perhaps as the result of disinformation, millions of people are out of rhythm with nature and suffer from chronic mal-illumination…a root cause of poor health and disease. Slick marketing campaigns and misinformation have literally scared the daylight out of us.”
According to the Vitamin D Council, current research has implicated sunlight and vitamin D deficiency as a major factor in the pathology of at least 17 varieties of cancer as well as heart disease, stroke, hypertension, autoimmune diseases, diabetes, depression, chronic pain, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, muscle wasting, birth defects, periodontal disease, and more. The September 2009 issue of The American Journal of Medicine (Volume 122, Issue 9) has an extensive review of the research on the benefits of vitamin D and points to fascinating 'life extension' potential. The Journal notes that all cause mortality is decreased by at least 7% in a meta-analysis of 18 randomized trials of vitamin D supplementation.
"What can be perceived as many different health problems," stated Mr. Ceder, " may instead be one 'root' problem that shows itself in a variety of ways or symptoms (or exacerbates existing problems without being the only contributing factor) that are labeled as individual diseases...much like a white light splitting into many colors when passing through a prism. That root problem is malillumination."
Further information, including a no charge e-book, is available from The BioLight group at the company’s website at http://www.Malillumination.org. Mr. Ceder is available for interview and can be reached using the information below or by email at research@malillumination.org.

Resolutions Can Work: Mary Lore, CEO Of Managing Thought LLC, Provides Tips In New Forward Thinking Reminder
Mary Lore, award-winning author and CEO of Managing Thought LLC, proposes that we can accomplish our goals through reframing our resolutions. Ms. Lore also celebrates the release of her new book with a workshop and booksigning on February 26, 2010 in Dearborn, MI
It's about that time when we break the resolutions we made at the beginning of the year. For many of us, this happens year after year and some of us have gotten to the point where we don't even bother to make resolutions. The latest Forward Thinking Gentle Reminder from Mary Lore, CEO of Managing Thought LLC offers guidance to help us reformulate our resolutions in order to keep them and achieve long-lasting success.
According to Lore, "The main reason resolutions don't work is because we are focused on what we don't want, instead of what we do want. Let's look at the resolution to quit smoking or lose weight. The resolutions themselves are focused on what I don't want - smoking and excess weight. And, as I face each day, I am focused on not smoking or not eating bad foods. My brain notices all of the cigarettes or food I can't have and I notice the cigarettes or bad food I did have. And it's torture."
"Then we judge and criticize ourselves when we have strayed from our goal. At the end of the day we take stock of the weight we didn't lose, the things we ate that were bad for us, the cigarettes we smoked that we shouldn't have, the exercise we didn't do, the time we didn't spend with our family etc. We do not feel the power of any sense of accomplishment because if we are not exercising five times each week, for example, then we have not achieved our goal. We feel badly. After a few days of this, we believe we have failed. We lose momentum. We begin a downward spiral and there goes the resolution."
Ms. Lore believes that when we are in states of blame, judgment, criticism and negativity, it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to accomplish what is significant and of value to us. She says that we accomplish resolutions by being in a state of joy or gratitude or vision and possibility.
"We can re-frame our resolutions in terms of what we really want not what we don't want or can't have. We can first ask ourselves "What does quitting smoking or losing weight bring me?" Suppose the answer is 'health'. We can instead resolve health or, even better, vibrant health. And this is where it gets interesting. When we can imagine and feel the power of the vision of being vibrantly healthy - that's when we become inspired. And when we are inspired, we get the creative ideas of how we can begin living the vision of health."
Lore conducts workshops across North America as founder and president of Managing Thought, LLC, which helps individuals and organizations develop self-awareness and change how they think to attain long-lasting success.
To celebrate the release of her new book, Managing Thought: Think Differently. Think Powerfully. Achieve New Levels of Success. Nancy J. Ballard, Author Of The Caring One, Applauds Obama’s Proposed Budget Increases For Family Caregivers
The Caring One by Nancy J. Ballard focuses on how caregivers of patients with Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases can form and renew bonds with loved ones while taking time to care for themselves. Her book, The Caring One, offers real world guidance to those who care for loved ones at home and offers advice on learning to care for the caregiver
Alzheimer’s wreaks havoc in the lives of thousands of Americans each year. The terrible price paid by the patient of dementia sometimes pales in comparison to the problems faced by family members who must take on the role of caregiver. Author and artist Nancy J. Ballard understands this challenge. Ballard’s newest release, ‘The Caring One’, focuses on caring for oneself while caring for others. The book is the direct result of Nancy's intimate relationship with her mother’s diagnosis with Alzheimer's. The Caring One offers readers the opportunity to remember loved ones via journaling, art and nurturing activities.
“Without a doubt,” stated Ms. Ballard, “President Obama’s initiative is exciting news for the caring one. Support in caring for ourselves while caring for others is a positive, much needed step toward personal wellness. It really is all about caring - caring for others and caring for ourselves. My book grew out of my personal experience, starting with email updates of my Mother’s health including reports of medications, forgetfulness, the beginning of a mean streak and the need to be entertained and amused.”
As a daughter, an artist and author, Nancy J. Ballard shares her story with compassion and inspiration, sprinkled throughout with humor, gratitude and love. The Caring One, is divided into three sections; the story, a journal and a resource section.
The journal section focuses on self-care through exercises in writing and creative expression as she encourages us to tell our stories. Through these exercises readers will gain insight not only into themselves but also into the person for whom they are caring using art, meditation, prayer and imagery. The resource section provides valuable resources that offer facts, practical suggestions and creative ideas. Ms. Ballard manages to provide all of this while keeping a healthy sense of humor.
“Humor must play an important role in care as well,” Ms. Ballard states. “I have to laugh when I hear stories of loved ones trying to turn on the TV with the phone vs. the remote or hear about a phone call saying, 'I cannot remember how to make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich.'” She calls these moments semi sweet and encourages us to remember - semi sweet is still chocolate.
Ms. Ballard was recently featured on The Authors Show Radio. A copy of the interview is available on her website. Ms. Ballard is available for interview and for speaking engagements. She can be reached using the information below or by email at nancyballard@me.com. The Caring One is available at her website and at Wisdom House Gallery, 45280 Main Street, Mendocino, California and Electric Rose Gallery, 107 Plaza Street, Healdsburg, California

Award Winning Author Vera Jane Cook To Appear On The Authors Show Radio Through February 2011
Vera Jane Cook discusses her must-read women’s fiction novels, Dancing Backward In Paradise and Hearts Upon A Fragile Bough
Author Vera Jane Cook will appear on The Authors Show Radio through February, 2011. In this interview, she discusses her award winning, must read women’s fiction novels Dancing Backward In Paradise and Hearts Upon A Fragile Bough.
“I write,” stated Ms. Cook, “because my spirit beckons me to do so. Mostly I enjoy writing for the 'other' world I create with characters, all of whom are all bits and pieces of people I've known, including myself.”
An only child, Jane began reading novels at an early age and was deeply influenced by an eclectic group of authors including Nelson DeMille, Anne Rice and Jodi Picoult. Jane worked in the professional theatre for over a decade, falling further in love with the plays of Tennessee Williams, Eugene O’Neil, Lillian Hellmann, and Sam Shepherd. She has appeared in television, regional theatre, film and off Broadway. Some of her credits have included both classic and original plays at Playwrights Horizons, WPA Theatre, Kennedy Center, Theatre for The New City, Bucks County Playhouse and many others.
She worked as an education territory manager for The New York Times and presented many workshops on using the newspaper in education as a tool for teaching English as a Second Language. She has worked as a Project Manager for the Education department of the New York Daily News, as well as an Education Specialist for Oxford University Press (ESL division) and as an Education Consultant for Scholastic.
Jane has completed five novels and has developed her newest workshop/seminar: The Corporate Crunch: Get Creative or Crack. This seminar/workshop is presently available for workshops, seminars, and adult education courses and is also the basis for her first non-fiction book.
Dancing Backward In Paradise, Jane’s first published novel, received rave reviews from Midwest book review and Armchair Interviews. It also won the Eric Hoffer Award for publishing excellence and the Indie Excellence Award for notable new fiction, 2007. Hearts Upon a Fragile Bough is Jane's second published novel.
“I take risks in my writing,” stated Ms. Cook. “Readers who enjoy eccentricity, humor, history and flawed characters would like my books. They are very human stories and I write as poetically as I can because I enjoy the rhythm and descriptive beauty of the English language.”
Jane has published short stories, articles and newsletters and has also written early childhood curriculum. Her published curriculum has been for Weekly Reader and McGraw Hill.

Yanni Maniates, Co-Author Of Intuition Is Easy And Fun, Will Appear On The Authors Show Radio Through January 29, 2011
Yanni Maniates’ groundbreaking book, co-authored with Susan Apollon, demonstrates how anyone can achieve peace, become financially successful and improve business and personal relationships through learning to harness the intuitive faculties of the mind
Yanni Maniates, co-author of Intuition Is Easy and Fun, will be appearing on The Authors Show Radio through January 29, 2011. In theinterview he explains how learning to consciously develop and use intuition can help anyone achieve peace, become financially successful, improve business and personal relationships and begin to feel a connection with the soul
"We wrote this book because we passionately feel that intuition is the key to living a fulfilled, intentional and joyful life. By accessing your intuition you can learn to ‘be true to your Self’ and to make choices in your life that empower you. Anyone who wants to really live ‘on purpose’ and ‘in passion’ must learn to access their intuition. In our book we share simple, easy-to-apply tools and techniques that make working with your intuition, easy, fun and empowering."
Many books written on the subject of intuition do not offer specific instructions on how to harness the power of intuition. In Intuition Is Easy andFun, Maniates and Apollon offer specific, powerful strategies and techniques for developing our intuitive abilities. The book demonstrates how we might access theHigher Wisdom and Guidance necessary for making good decisions, both large and small. The result is an improvement in our relationships with family and colleagues and well as improvements in physical and mental health and well being. Using intuition, we can enhance our sense of self worth and self confidence. Above all, learning to use our intuition allows us to begin to experience a life filled with love, peace, empowerment and joy.
"When you have something of such great value for all people,” stated Ms. Apollon, “how could you not wish to share it? Yanni and I wrote and recorded Intuition Is Easy and Fun because we passionately wished everyone to know of the powerful gift of our natural-born intuition and the ease with which it can be harnessed to empower, enhance, enrich and create the life we have always wanted. We know that when we learn to harness our Intuition (our Higher Guidance) and put it to practical use (which is why we included valuable tools for doing so in our book), we experience a sense of greater peace, joy, confidence, purpose and a spiritual recognition that we are more than who we have always thought ourselves to be. Learning to trust our Higher Guidance allows us to live a far more comfortable and relaxed life - and this is something people of all ages desire."
More information is available at the group’s website at www.IntuitionIsEasyAndFun.com. The company also offers an audio series, an email series and a no charge mini-course. Intuition Is Easy And Fun is available at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and at most online book outlets.
