Ebony Haywood writes humorous poetry in rhyme in the styles of her heroes, Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein. She has been referred to as ‘Dr. Seuss with Juice’. Her latest release, There Was Once A Potato, tells the story of an over confident potato, an equally over confident yam, a jar of peanut butter, a bowl of jello and a fragile egg who create a whole lot of mess in a cozy refrigerator on Maple Street. In the book, Clamatoe Potato meets his match in Alakazam Yam. The two challenge each other to a duel that sets off a food fight not easily forgotten.
“I wrote this book,” stated Ms. Haywood, “because I want to put a smile on people's faces. I think people will enjoy this book because it is full of action, humor and it is clever.”
