Canadian Author Rusty Blackwood has announced the release of her new short story comedy, 'The Misadventures Of Derwood Tugbottom'
Acclaimed Canadian author Rusty Blackwood, author of the 'Passion In Paris' series, has announced the release of her new short story comedy, 'The Misadventures Of Derwood Tugbottom'.
'The Misadventures of Derwood Tugbottom' is a short story comedy centering around newly retired government official, Derwood J. Tugbottom, an English bachelor who fancies the ladies, but never found one that could take his attention from his appointment until he travels to an active Canadian Retirement Centre. Throughout a series of misunderstandings, mostly brought on by himself, the over-bearing retiree finally retaliates, leaving the retirement centre reeling in his wake.
"I have great respect for the elderly as well the road of living they have paved," said Rusty. "They have experienced so much in life and I adore their sense of humour, which is why I decided to take the elusive character of Derwood Justice Tugbottom, which actually came from my brother's vivid imagination, and put him into a situation where his early retirement took him in a far different direction than he would have ever imaged possible, resulting in a scenario that he would have much rather avoided, yet through it all he never once thought the ending would turn out like it did."
"Laughter is the spice of life, it truly is," Ms. Blackwood continued, "for without it I feel life would be rather dull.. I've a ways to go as yet before my own retirement, but I hope when that time comes I will be fortunate to find a peaches and cream delight and not sour grapes, as did Derwood."
The Misadventures of Derwood Tugbottom is available at Amazon.com, CreateSpace.com, and coming soon to Rusty's website bookstore.
Rusty Blackwood has written an eclectic array of Contemporary and Traditional poetry, publishing her first collection in October of 2009 entitled, ‘Feelings: A Rhythmic Journey in Thought’. This was followed in April of 2010 by a collection of assorted short stories for children as well the young at heart entitled, ‘Young Minds’.
Her first venture into the competitive world of main-stream fiction was a long time in the making, but was finally realized in early October 2010 with the release of her debut romance novel, ‘Passion in Paris: Connections to the Past’, the first of two in the ongoing romance/drama. The second part, a romance novel entitled, ‘Passion in Paris: Directions of the Heart’ was released in May 2011 and will be followed by the intriguing drama, ‘Net of Lies’.
Rusty Blackwood is available for interview in the Toronto area and can be reached using the information below. Ms. Blackwood’s titles are available at Amazon.com, Createspace and at her website. More information regarding her work is available at the site. Ms. Blackwood also holds a monthly drawing for copies of her works. A signup form is also available at her website.
Rusty Blackwood resides in St. Catharines, Ontario and is the author of a number of romance novels, poetry books and children's books.

Author S. Evan Townsend, America’s Unique Speculative Fiction Voice, Announces March Events, Releases New Novel, ‘Rock Killer’
Author S. Evan Townsend has announced new events for March 2012 in Amarillo and Lubbock TX. He has also announced the release of his latest novel, 'Rock Killer'
Author S. Evan Townsend has announced a number of book signings for the month of March, 2012 in the cities of Amarillo and Lubbock TX. Townsend is also pleased to announce he has released his third speculative fiction novel, ‘Rock Killer’. The new novel follows his two previous novels, ‘Agent Of Artifice’ and ‘Hammer Of Thor’. His body of work, blends of historical fiction and fantasy, has received numerous 5 star reviews and have placed him in the top echelon of America’s speculative fiction writers. In the literary tradition of Robert Heinlein, Townsend is a builder of worlds - fantastic yet familiar, slightly off-kilter worlds, filled with characters and storylines that breathe new life into the genre that is speculative fiction.
“I started writing Rock Killer,” Townsend stated, “after there was a spate of eco-terrorist events in the U.S. Pacific Northwest in the late 1990s. I wondered what motivated these people and what would happen if there were such attacks in the future on what they perceived to be ‘bad for the environment.’ What if they wanted to stop the mining of asteroids for the resources a crowded planet needs and how would they do it?”
Townsend writes in the tradition of Robert Heinlein, and his writing has been compared to both Heinlein and Piers Anthony. Townsend's approach is to begin in the real world - everyday reality - and then to twist that reality, heat it up a bit, spin it and mold it seamlessly into fiction. The dividing lines between what is real and what is fictional become blurred. Townsend's writings are heavily researched to ensure both historic and scientific accuracy. All of his works offer captivating tales of fun adventure, wrapped tightly around a solid iron core of fact and accuracy.
On March 24th, 2012, Townsend will visit Barnes and Noble at 2415 Soncey Rd, Amarillo, TX for a book signing from 10am to 1pm. He will also visit Barnes and Noble, 6002 Slide Rd., Lubbock, TX from 4pm to 7pm on the same day. He has recently appeared on several Blog Talk Radio shows including Focus Discussion, The Ashley Fontainne Show and on The Authors Show radio to discuss the release of 'Rock Killer'.
“People will enjoy this book,” Townsend continued, “because it is a fast-paced action adventure with a multifaceted plot that ranges from Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Syria, the Moon, and out to the Asteroid Belt. It combines action, terrorism, political intrigue, romance, and science into a story of heroic men and women trying to save the lives of their fellow humans. ‘Rock Killer’ is an all-too-plausible yet futuristic story of terrorism and those who are caught in its sights and those trying to stop it.”
Townsend is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at sheltown@donobi.net. More information is available at his website. All Townsend’s works, including ‘Rock Killer’ are available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, World Castle Publishing and at other online book sites.

Pennsylvania Author Rene Daniel Releases Fantasy Adventure Novel, ‘Spear Of Seth’
Daniel describes his genre as ‘Falenture’, a blend of fantasy, legend and adventure. ‘Spear Of Seth, written in the spirit of ‘Indiana Jones’ and ‘House Of Anubis’ takes modern day archaeologists into the Egyptian Underworld
Pennsylvania author Rene Daniel has released ‘Spear of Seth’. The novel takes modern day archaeologists into the Egyptian Underworld. The book, written in the spirit of ‘Indiana Jones’ and ‘House Of Anubis’ is a blend of fantasy, legend and adventure. Daniel has termed this new genre ‘Falenture’.
“I wrote Spear of Seth,” Daniel said, “as I wanted to share the wonderful world of ancient Egypt, the fascinating mythology, and above all, the sense of how everything is possible, which we have when we are young, and some of us retain forever. There is fantasy, legend and adventure in ‘Spear of Seth' and plenty of them.”
Alex Khyan, the protagonist of ‘Spear of Seth’, is a premed student of the Van Senmut College, who gets a summer job as a translator at an archeological dig at the island of Elephantine in the Upper Egypt. Here he meets Heather Van Senmut and her father, John Van Senmut, a grandson of the founder of the college and the archeologist in charge of the excavations. The dig is not just some dig; it is the ruins of the Temple of Osiris, which stands at the mythical place where Nile emerges from the Egyptian Underworld. When John Van Senmut, falls ill and physicians give up on him, his daughter decides to search the Temple for the cause of the disease and possibly a cure. Her quest leads her, and her unwilling helper Alex, into the Netherworld, which survived the Egyptian civilization by two thousand years. They negotiate its dangers, as well as dangers that come from their contemporaries. They do have only one guide – the Book of Gates, which decorates the sarcophagus of the pharaoh Seti.
“The closest we can come,” continued Daniel, “to challenges like those the Spear of Seth heroes face in the Egypt Underworld is to lose ourselves in a great book.”
Mr. Daniel is offering a no-charge copy of the sequel of ‘Spear of Seth’ to anyone who writes a review for novel on Amazon or on their own blog.
Rene Daniel is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at rene_daniel@verizon.net. More information on the author, the novel and the review offer is available at his website. ‘Spear of Seth’ is available at his website, Amazon and most online book retailers.
Profile:
In his other life, Rene Daniel is a scientist in the fields of gene therapy, HIV and aging. Writing is his great love. He refers to his genre as FALENTURE - a mix of fantasy, legends and adventure.
Unlike a classical fantasy, FALENTURE builds on and sticks close to epic legends of human history, and asks a question: what if they are/were real? Is there really an Egypt Underworld? Was there really a Lost City of Z? What if the mysterious late inventions of Nikola Tesla worked? A FALENTURE could be compared to a combination of Lord Of Rings, The DaVinci Code and Indiana Jones.

The Authors Show Announces New Show For Authors, Writers and Publishers, 'The Book Marketing Show'
The Authors Show is a top ranked Internet radio show featuring books and authors from all genres. The new segment presents authors who offer book marketing tips, advice, methods and tools to help others successfully market books in today’s search engine driven, Internet book marketing environment
Danielle Hampson President of eBroadcastMedia.com, WnbNetwork.com, and Executive Producer of The Authors Show, announced today a new segment of The Authors Show. The show is hosted by both Don McCauley, facilitator of the Free Publicity Focus Group, and Danielle Hampson.
"We all know," McCauley stated, "that the Internet continues to drive larger and larger percentages of book sales today. The old marketing models are quickly falling away. Today's Internet based marketing systems and models necessitate the use of up-to-date strategies, based on what will produce sales results today, versus what used to work in the past."
The Authors Show, Internet radio and Internet TV versions, are produced by Danielle Hampson of eBroadcastMedia.com. The shows offer professionally produced radio and TV interviews that are broadcast worldwide. Segments include The Authors Show, The Business Authors Show, The Christian Authors Show, The Children's Authors Show, The Wellness Authors Show and The Authors Show TV version. "The new show is exciting," Mr. McCauley continued, "as we hope to present authors and writers across all genres. The guests will honestly describe their journey though the book marketing process. Every book is different, every target market unique and every marketing strategy must be specifically tailored to those target market profiles. Listeners will hear about what worked, what did not, what produced great results and also what failed miserably. We expect the audience to be authors, writers and publishers and we hope to provide some down-to-earth, no-nonsense strategies for successfully bringing books to the marketplace today."
McCauley and Hampson are also co-moderators of Book Marketing, 'The Authors Marketing Powerhouse'. Book Marketing allows authors and publishers the opportunity to upload photos, bios, book covers, video and book videos. “This new show is a natural progression for The Authors Show” said Ms. Hampson, “With so many authors turning to us for advice and ideas on effective book marketing, getting the tips directly from authors who are successfully marketing their work just makes sense. And since interviewing authors is what we do, creating a new show on this specific topic is an win-win for everyone.”
