Daniels is the author of two fiction novels that address the issue of genetic engineering. Daniels believes the implications of genetic engineering, both now and in the future, are staggering
n a recent article on the Liberty Voice website entitled "Bill Gates Ruffles Feathers, Defends Genetically Modified Organisms", it was stated that Gates hopes that the public will keep an open mind on the subject of modified seeds. A.W. Daniels, author of two books on the subject of genetic engineering, believes there is more to the story.
“Mr. Gates,” Daniels stated, “wants us to keep an open mind about genetically modified organisms. Should we give Mr. Gates the benefit of the doubt? It just seems too easy not to.”
“It is well documented that Mr. Gates owns at least 500,000 shares of Monsanto, either directly or through his Bill Gates Foundation. Given today’s stock price of $108, that would equate to a value of $54,000,000.00. Monsanto is estimated to control over 80% of the world’s genetically modified crops.”
“That investment is hard to overlook in the overall equation.”
“Philanthropy – Mr. Gates foundation has donated tens of millions of dollars worth of seeds to farmers in poor countries. Very admirable. But is it altruistic? One could argue it is one of the basic tactics used business, the loss leader. This involves pricing a product less than the competition in the marketplace, or giving it away for free, to capture market share. Consequently, competitors are eliminated, allowing the instigator of the tactic to determine fair market price. This tactic can be augmented by the sale of companion products, in this case herbicide, insecticide and fertilizer, to offset the short term losses incurred by the loss leader.”
“One other question under this heading is the type of seeds given as donations. The term “terminator seed” continues to be included in this discussion regularly. Perhaps appropriately, perhaps not. A terminator seed is a single generation seed that does not allow fertile seeds to be grown by the plant. Such a modification would impact food supplies greatly. Typically a farmer, especially in a third world country, puts aside a percentage of a crop for seeding the next season. Terminator seeds would necessitate the repurchasing of crop seeds annually. Monsanto, on their website, refers to this as a myth and states that they ‘made a commitment in 1999 not to commercialize sterile seed technology in food crops. We stand firmly by this commitment.’”
“My question here is; do donations fall under the guidelines of commercialization? Have any of the donated seeds been terminator seeds or anything even remotely similar? My hopes for a firm and conclusive “No” to this question would eliminate one of the direst of fears involved in this argument regarding the monopolization of food supplies.”
“The next facet regards testing going forward. To quote an article in the Indypendent, of the Indymedia network, by Paige Aarhus on May 12, 2012;”
‘Added to the potential problems with GM technology are health risks-the strains of maize that were illegally imported in 2010 had been deemed unsafe for children and the elderly. Maina also worries about animal feeding trials that showed damage to liver, kidney and pancreas, effects on fertility, and stomach bleeding in livestock that has consumed GM feed. A more recent study carried out on pregnant women in Canada found genetically modified insecticidal proteins in their blood streams and in that of their unborn children, despite assurances from scientists that it wasn’t possible.’
“Currently, testing is done by the creators of the technology. And even though the developed foodstuffs are presented as ‘substantially the same as what nature offers,’ patents are being applied for, and granted. Why would a patent be granted on anything ‘substantially the same’?”
“To say testing must be thoroughly conducted is obvious. This testing must be forward progressing and include multi-generational trials in the bosom of Mother Nature, not in a clinically controlled environment, lest we be slapped with a toxic response by nature herself.”
“The grasp of control by an individual or corporation yielding power from one with such stature of Mr. Gates and Monsanto must be tempered by a governing body like the FDA. But that can only be achieved if the FDA updates its own technology to be commensurate with the task at hand.”
“If Mr. Gates is truly the philanthropist he presents himself to be, why restrict the technology through patents? Why not donate without the strings of corporate profit attached? Why not assure rigorous safety testing on a product consumed by the world’s population?”
“Granted, it’s easy to tell someone what to do with their money, I’m sure Mr. Gates hears it every day. And we can keep an open mind Mr. Gates, but what is more dangerous, a closed mind or a closed wallet?”

Romantic Fiction Author Rusty Blackwood Announces "Passions In Paris" Now Available At Smashwords
Blackwood's new romance novel is written in the tradition of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' and 'What Dreams May Come'. Recent reviewers have compared it to Erich Segal's 'Love Story' and Nicholas Sparks' 'The Notebook'. The novel presents an intense story of soul mates whose love spans lifetimes
Canadian Indie author Rusty Blackwood has announced that ‘Passions In Paris: Revelations Of A Lost Diary’ is now available in epub format at Smashwords. The new romantic fiction novel, a sweeping saga written in the tradition of Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' and 'What Dreams May Come', has been compared to Erich Segal's 'Love Story' and Nicholas Sparks' 'The Notebook'. The novel has also received extremely positive reviews from Reader's Favorite reviewers.
"I am very pleased," Ms. Blackwood stated, "to be able to offer my newest romance novel, 'Passions in Paris,' on Smashwords, where it can be accessed and downloaded to all reading devices. This is most important, because it opens endless doors for the book, and allows everyone, regardless of the reading device they may have, to be able to enjoy this beautiful story."
Upcoming events include the 5th annual Romance Expo to be held on Valentines Day at the Ramada Plaza located at 7389 Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls from 5pm to 11pm. The event will feature many fun romance and relationship exhibitors. There will be free parking, professional presentations, romantic music all evening, food samples, many fabulous door prizes and lots of fun for everyone 18+ to enhance and enrich their relationships.
In the new novel the city of Paris, one of the most romantic places in the world, sets the scene for what some believe could be one of the best romance novels to come along in ages. The book is peppered with drama, intrigue, deception, adultery and jealousy. The fictional romance centers on star-crossed lovers Joy Wychmere and Cullen Malone. A diary, lost for almost half a century, opens a door to the past and one fateful evening changes two lives forever.
Reader Fred Pifer stated the new romance book, "is a fascinating book of a love story that seemed to be written with me in mind. In the book 'Love Story' by Erich Segal, he told of a deep abiding love story that reminds me of Cullen and Joy’s in Ms. Blackwood’s book, but the twists of intrigue and mystery that she adds keeps the reader on edge throughout."
Linkk Kulakane said, "Passions in Paris I think stands it ground with these other powerful romantic stories like 'The Notebook' by Nicolas Sparks. A long kindled love, which finds its place from a romantic spark in the mind of one, to a mounting real life experience between two different worlds, brought together by an on going weave of circumstances, doubts, mystery, and intrigue, that sets ablaze forbidden emotions on a roller coaster ride of endless desire, and surmounting obstacles, that test the strength of their determination to prevail. Miss Blackwood has a rare talent to bring this and more into the minds and hearts of those who have had the privilege to be transported into her wonderful world of story telling."
Other reviewers have praised the new romance book. Reviewer Cat Howard said, "Eternal love, finding your true soul mate, and how echoes from past lives can influence the present, this story has it all . . . " Another Reader's Favorite reviewer stated, "Enjoyable and exciting, this is a book for people who have romance flowing in their veins."
Readers can download the epub version of the book at Smashwords. 'Passions In Paris: Revelations Of A Lost Diary' is also available at Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions, Barnes and Noble in paperback and Nook editions, and Create Space.

Teachers Lesson Plan (Elementary Language Arts) Now Available From Award Winning Children's Book Author Diane Mae Robinson
Robinson’s multi-award winning work, ‘Sir Princess Petra', teaches children valuable life lessons through engaging fiction. A no-cost teacher’s lesson plan, developed by an elementary school teacher, about the book is now available. Students will listen, speak, read, write, view and represent to explore thoughts, ideas, feelings and experiences
Award winning Canadian author Diane Robinson has announced that a no-cost lesson plan is now available to teachers for her highly praised, multi-award winning children’s book, ‘Sir Princess Petra’.
‘Sir Princess Petra’, the first in the Pen Pieyu series, features surprising plot twists and turns, brilliant flashes of humor, zany characters and is rooted in timeless values that shine through the charismatic main character. It is written in the tradition of C. S. Lewis and is reminiscent of ‘Shrek’. Reviewers have labeled the award winning book a ‘fantasy adventure that is sure to become a timeless classic.’
'Sir Princess Petra' took an Honorable Mention award in the 2013 Readers' Favorite International Awards for Children Grade K - 3rd. This adds to the long list of awards for 'Sir Princess Petra'. Robinson was honored with two major awards for the book. She was awarded the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artists Award for Children’s Book Author and took 2nd place in the Purple Dragonfly Book awards for Children’s Chapter Book.
“In writing children’s literature,” Robinson stated, “I strive to engage the young reader in a fun and interesting way through the adventures of my characters. It is also important to me that the moral lessons about kindness, acceptance, understanding, and believing in oneself, are brought out through my character’s actions.”
The second book, 'Sir Princess Petra's Talent' has already received a number of very favorable reviews. A recent review on Goodreads stated, 'This is a book that should be in lots of classrooms. I think it is a good book to help children understand that everything is not as it first seems.' Another reviewer stated, 'Cloaked in a fantasy work of knights, kings, and dragons that will engulf children into the story, the moral lessons imparted are refreshingly neither preachy nor boring. Petra’s breath of fresh air personality makes her an exceptional role model for children to admire and to imitate in the real situations of fear, new people, challenges, and goals in their own lives."
While dragon books are one of the most popular segments of fantasy fiction and children’s books in today's marketplace, in these fantasy fiction books, Robinson uses the dragon books concept as the background to teaching young people traditional values. Ms. Robinson's highly praised work demonstrates that dragon books can be something much more than dragon books.
The no-charge lesson plan is available at Robinson’s website. Diane Mae Robinson is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at robinsond@mscnet.ca. More information, including reviews, information for teachers and librarians and a special children’s section is available at her website. Both books are currently available from Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
About Diane Mae Robinson:
Diane Mae Robinson has a journalism diploma from the Schools of Montreal, and an advanced diploma from the Institute of Children's Literature in Connecticut. She is also an artist, writing tutor and teaches acrylic and watercolor art to children. She lives with her husband, Allen, in a small hilltop castle near St. Paul, Alberta. They have four dogs and three horses, along with a forest inhabited by gnomes, fairies, a princess, and a dragon. This magical forest is where Diane creates her characters and gets the inspiration for her stories.

Elaine Pereira, Author Of 'I Will Never Forget', Concurs With A Comprehensive Approach To Help Delay And Manage Dementia
Elaine Pereira, speaker, Certified Dementia Practitioner and Caregiver and author of the award-winning dementia memoir, ‘I Will Never Forget’, promotes a 5 pronged lifestyle approach to help delay the onset of dementia to manage its effects
A recent video on CBS Morning featured CBS News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook and Dr. Rudolph Tanzi, professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School and director of the Genetics and Aging Research Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. In their opinion, clinical trials of medications to treat Alzheimer’s have failed because they target the early stages when in fact researchers now know that by the time someone is symptomatic for Alzheimer’s Disease, they are well past the early stage. Hence the medications don’t work. Elaine Pereira, author of ‘I Will Never Forget’, a compelling and unique memoir on dementia, believes that brain healthy habits, both physical and mental, are of key importance in regards to delaying the onset and managing the effects of Dementia.
"It should come as no big surprise," Pereira stated, "that, quoting Dr. Tanzi, 'What's good for the heart is good for the brain'. The collective 'we' have known for decades that a diet low in fat and keeping active physically bode well for cardiac health. It is true for brain health also. In addition Dr. Tanzi sites being mentally and socially active and one more key ingredient, sleep."
"This five-prong lifestyle approach of Exercise, Diet, Social Interaction, Intellectual Stimulation and Sleep collectively increase brain synapses and the production of endorphins – or 'internal morphine' – those awesome analgesic causing peptides that hang out in our brains."
Elaine Pereira has written the one book on Dementia that no none else could write. She is a daughter who has lived the Dementia drama, an occupational therapist who understands the neurology and an unwavering caregiver. Pereira’s exclusive perspective has enabled her to produce a one-of-a-kind book about Dementia that encompasses several uniquely special approaches.
In addition, while most authors unveil theirs stories chronologically, Pereira’s memoir unfolds in dynamic and creative time shifts, revealing her mother’s decline in a “then and now” format, transitioning beautifully between past and present.
While Dementia is a serious disease not to be trivialized, Pereira believes there are humorous one-liners and anecdotes in all of life’s dramas. She blends her mother’s Dementia induced tragic mishaps, episodes of illogical thinking and agitated behaviors with tasteful hilarity as well as her ridiculous but funny remarks. The end result is a book about Dementia that is unlike any other book on Dementia ever written.
‘I Will Never Forget - A Daughter's Story of Her Mother's Arduous And Humorous Journey Through Dementia’ has received numerous, high-level industry awards. These include:
2013 Honorable Mention Reader's Favorite, Memoirs
2013 Bronze Winner Global EBook Awards, Aging Category
2013 Winner! National Indie Excellence Award, Aging Category
2013 Finalist LuckyCinda Publishing Book Contest
2012 Finalist Best New Non-Fiction USA Book Awards & Hollywood Book Festival
"So walk with your friend(s) to a local café for a light lunch," Pereira concluded, "discuss the latest news worthy topic and at the end of the day, tuck yourself in for a night of brain refreshing sleep."

2,123 Christians Killed For Faith In 2013 – Dr. John DeFilippis Urges Christians To Take A Stand
2,123 Christians were killed last year due to their faith. This number is nearly double the number from 2012. Dr. John DeFilippis, author of ‘The Quest of the Thirteen’ and ‘The Birth of Malgyron,’ believes it is time for Christians to take a stand
In a recent article posted on the Fox News website, Open Doors, a group that tracks the number of persecuted Christians worldwide, revealed that 2,123 Christians were killed for the faith in 2013. This number is up considerably from the 2012 figure of 1,201. Dr. John DeFilippis, Christian author of ‘The Quest of the Thirteen’ and ‘The Birth of Malgyron,’ believes it is time for Christians to take a stand.
“History is coming full circle,” DeFilippis stated, “for the war on Christianity is clearly becoming more hostile and expansive. As the number of martyrs continues to grow, one can’t help but feel as though our present-day society is reverting back to the days of Nero and the brutal persecutions he carried out in an attempt to extirpate the Christians. But just as Nero fiddled while Rome burned, so the majority of today’s Christians are standing idly by as Muslims, atheists, and secular progressives launch unceasing attacks against our faith.”
Dr. John DeFilippis writes epic fantasy fiction for Christian readers. In the tradition of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, his novels bring to mind the adventure and excitement of Jason and the Argonauts, The Odyssey, and the Arthurian legend of the Holy Grail.
‘The Quest of the Thirteen’ and ‘The Birth of Malgyron’ are the first two volumes of DeFilippis’ epic fantasy series titled ‘The Medallion of Mavinor.’ The series starts with thirteen loyal subjects being selected and trained to make an arduous quest to retrieve the long lost Medallion of Mavinor. Together they work against nearly impossible odds— rugged terrain, mythical beasts, death-defying adventures and, worst of all, betrayal in their ranks—in order to complete their mission. In the sequel, an evil plot is hatched to overthrow the king, one that has dire consequences not only for the kingdom of Mavinor, but for the entire world. The heroes of the story are forced to band together and fight to thwart the plot before it is too late.
Ultimately the novels are about an extraordinary effort to resurrect a kingdom and the faith of its people in a world where that faith is quickly waning. They serve as an allegory for the assault on Christianity in modern-day society. While the work is classified as epic fantasy fiction, traditional Christian values lie at the very heart of the story and Dr. DeFilippis considers himself to be a Christian author. He is a devout conservative Catholic, and an avid supporter of religious freedom in an age of growing secularism.
“The time has come for all of us,” DeFilippis continued, “whether Catholic, Orthodox, or Protestant—to unite for a common purpose and take a stand before it’s too late. If there’s one thing I know, it’s that Christ would not want us to go down without a fight.”
Dr. John DeFilippis is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at jdefilippis@optonline.net. ‘The Quest of the Thirteen’ and the sequel, ‘The Birth of Malgyron’, are available in print, ebook and pdf formats from Crossroad Press. ‘The Quest of the Thirteen’ is also available in audiobook format. More information is available at his website at http://www.drjohndefilippis.com.
About Dr. John DeFilippis:
Dr. John DeFilippis was born on March 9, 1970 in Bayonne, New Jersey. He grew up in the Greenville section of Jersey City, graduating from Our Lady of Mercy Grammar School in 1984. In 1988 he graduated from Saint Peter’s Prep and went on to study at Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree, Dr. DeFilippis attended the School of Theology at Seton Hall University for three years, from 1993 to 1996. During this time he earned his master’s degree in theology and discerned a call to the Catholic priesthood. After ultimately deciding that he did not have a religious vocation, Dr. DeFilippis transitioned into the field of education.
He taught for four years at both the elementary and secondary levels, and earned a second master’s degree in educational administration. In 2000 Dr. DeFilippis made yet another transition, this time accepting an offer to become an academic administrator at Saint Peter’s University in Jersey City. He would spend the next seven years there, and in 2007 he completed his Ph.D. in educational leadership at Seton Hall University. After finishing his doctoral degree, he accepted an offer to become a director in the Division of Academic Affairs at New Jersey City University.
But through all the years of earning graduate degrees, teaching, and working in educational administration, Dr. DeFilippis never lost sight of his childhood dream. That dream was to become a published author, and through tireless work and relentless persistence, his dream was ultimately fulfilled.

Terry Allan Christian, Author Of 'What Did Jesus Say' Announces "Walking With The Master" Tour In Tampa, Orlando And Jacksonville FL
Terry Allan Christian’s book, ‘What Did Jesus Say’ helps lead Christians back to true Christian values. Rev. Christian will begin a speaking tour in Northern Florida beginning January 2014
As a Christian author and speaker, Rev. Terry Allan Christian’s singular mission is to reestablish true Christian values in the most powerful way – by presenting only the words actually spoken by Jesus Christ. In his ministry and in his message, there is no place for politics, personal opinions or interpretations carefully crafted to stimulate congregations and increase contributions. ‘What Did Jesus Say: The Seven Messages from The Master’, focuses solely on the words spoken by Jesus and nothing more. His upcoming "Walking With The Master" tour will take that message directly to the public.
“Walking with the Master” is the personal life testimony of Rev. Christian. It begins with his “born again” experience in his early years to the near death experience at 23 that introduced him to the Voice of the Lord. From there he tells the story how the Lord took him from being a stutterer all his life, to becoming a Motivational Speaker delivering over 2500 speeches throughout America.
His journey was filled with inspiration, difficulties and heartaches; however, he explains, it was the words of Jesus that guided and helped him the most.
* He tells the story behind his book ‘What Did Jesus Say’. The day he began the final editing his father had a heart attack and died. His mother died soon after. It would be 10 more years before his book was finally in print as he experienced Job-like difficulties.
* He also talks about his painful divorce and getting injured, not able to properly walk for 18 months, requiring back surgery, followed by life threatening bladder cancer and 3 operations. Even though doctors said his cancer was terminal and would kill him within 3-5 years, he believed in God’s healing power of prayer and fasting. Two years later his doctors pronounced him cancer free and released him.
* Now, after overcoming 10 years of difficulties, heartaches and setbacks, he gives his victory testimony for all those seeking healing, forgiveness and life restoration in Christ. He explains why – with God all things are possible – all the time.
His testimony encourages everyone to trust what Jesus said above all others, and to understand the importance of prayer in the midst of difficulties and heartaches. He also reveals how to tell the difference between the hardships caused by one’s personal life choices versus the adversities brought on by Satan to compromise one’s Christian faith.
Rev. Christian believes many pastors, evangelists and others have lost the focus and the passion of the True Message of Jesus and lead followers in directions never intended by Jesus. ‘What Did Jesus Say’ serves as a beginning to the return to what Jesus really intended. Featuring the ‘best of the best’ of what Jesus said, this new book is one of a kind. The scriptures, stripped of everything save for the words spoken directly by Jesus, have been reordered and organized into seven primary messages. His book puts readers into an imagined walk on the beach with Jesus, allowing them to plainly read over 500 passages spoken by Jesus, complete with scripture references at the bottom of each page.
His book is printed in color, with Jesus’ words in red and has received rave reviews.
A Kingdom Expansion review gave the book 10 out of 10 stars and said, "The book is nothing short of phenomenal and will impact your life as you become more like Jesus."
Another reviewer stated, "I got burned out on 'religion’ and all the Christians-in-name-only. It was only after reading 'What Did Jesus Say: The Seven Messages From The Master’, that I was able to renew the ‘God connection’ within me."
Terry Allan Christian is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at rev.christian@me.com. ‘What Did Jesus Say: The Seven Messages From The Master’ is available in print, ebook and audiobook formats and can be ordered at any bookstore or at Amazon.com. More information, including a special preview of the book is available at Rev. Christian’s website at http://www.WDJSBook.com.
About Rev. Terry Allan Christian:
Terry Allan Christian came from a dysfunctional family. His mother was a Christian while his father just laughed at Christianity. At an early age, Terry dedicated his life to Jesus and spent most of his time reading the red lettered version of the Gospels always concentrating on the words of Jesus and the example of His actions. He believes, his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior was pivotal in carrying him through all his life difficulties.
After being healed at the age of 30, from a lifelong stuttering problem he would become a motivational speaker and corporate trainer. He retired in 2001 after teaching over 2500 seminars and workshops throughout America and Canada.
Today, at age 62, he leads Foundations for Life Ministries and lives in the Tampa Bay, Fl. area where he counsels individuals and couples seeking a more mature understanding of their relationship with Jesus Christ. Terry says his calling is to help his brothers and sisters in Christ live in a never-ending state of love and truth with one another. He believes, after repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as one's Lord and Savior, this was the main message Jesus taught His disciples. Teaching the way by the word is the cornerstone on which his book, ‘What Did Jesus Say’, and ministry is founded.

Author Emeka Iwenofu Chosen As One Of '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' for 2013 - 2014
Iwenofu was chosen as the result of a public voting process. His work, entitled ‘Francine’s Miracle’, teaches young people how to overcome challenges and achieve life goals
Emeka Iwenofu, author of ‘Francine’s Miracle’, has been chosen as one of ‘50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading’. The awards were sponsored by The Authors Show. His win secures a place in ‘50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading’, an annual publication that will be available in January 2014.
In the tradition of his mentors, Og Mandino, Anthony Robbins, Napoleon Hill and Wayne Dyer, Emeka Iwenofu teaches young readers, through engaging works of fiction such as ‘Francine’s Miracle’, how to achieve their life goals despite limitations or challenges.
“I wrote this series,” Iwenofu stated, “as an attempt to present scenarios of challenges and adversity which anyone can relate to or is going through right now, while showing hope and actual breakthroughs that can be attained through proper thought patterns and attitude involving a scientific perspective, which are also presented throughout the series. Too many people are so busy complaining, playing the victim role and blame circumstances and people for their problems. My role is to correct all that and inform people that it doesn’t have to be that way. Anyone can persevere and still succeed if they really want to do so. That is what my books teach.”
’Francine’s Miracle’ features miraculous stories that teach young people how to achieve their dreams. Parents will appreciate the book as it empowers parents and grandparents to help children achieve their goals. Educators will find the messages in 'Francine's Miracle' to be uplifting, inspiring, appropriate for class projects and a powerful teaching tool. Children will find the book to be a down to earth, honest, entertaining tale that will allow them to see a troubled person’s success story unfold step by step.
“Parents, grandparents, children and teachers will enjoy this book” Iwenofu continued, “because it is displayed in a story form - as an indirect guide to the reader on how they can achieve their goals regardless of their current situation that they, their family members or students are in. Most of the people who read these books, know someone who has been incarcerated, been exposed to violence, verbally assaulted, sexually abused, is an alcoholic, a drug addict, has been in ill health, has had their heart broken, been homeless, is isolated from family and friends, or all of the above. These books address those issues and demonstrate how anyone can still triumph to ultimate glory and greatness, which will inspire everyone, regardless of their current status in the household or in the classroom.”
Emeka Iwenofu is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at jackiesmiracle@gmail.com. All of his works are available at most online book outlets including Amazon and Barnes and Noble. More information is available at the website at http://www.FrancinesMiracle.com.

Author Roland Allnach Chosen As One Of '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' for 2013 - 2014
Allnach was chosen as the result of a public voting process. His work, entitled ‘Oddities & Entities’, is a multi-award winning anthology of six tales in the supernatural and paranormal genres
Roland Allnach, author of ‘Oddities & Entities’, has been chosen as one of ’50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading’. The awards were sponsored by The Authors Show. His win secures a place in ’50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading’, an annual publication that will be available in January 2014.
‘Oddities & Entities’ is a multi-award winning anthology of six tales in the supernatural and paranormal genres, exploring a definition of life beyond the fragile vessel of the human body. Set in the mysterious space between the everyday world and an existence just beyond reach, these tales take readers through surreal experiences rich with horror, dark humor, and philosophical transcendence.
“I'm honored,” stated Allnach, “to be among the '50 Great Writers You Should be Reading' because it fulfills my ambition as a writer to connect with readers. As an author, the only thing that surpasses the thrill of creating stories is to discover that readers have found meaning and depth to my writing. The literary world is so rich and diverse that to be able to stake a claim among the public's awareness as a notable narrative voice is really something beyond my expectation.”
'Oddities & Entities' has received numerous awards including National Indie Excellence Awards, Readers Favorite Book of the Year Awards, USA Book News Best Book Awards, and ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year Awards. Allnach's literary aspirations are shaped by masters such as Tolstoy, Shakespeare, Homer, and Kafka in the importance of character and story depth.
“I wrote 'Oddities & Entities' to offer fans of horror, supernatural, and the paranormal something different,” Allnach continued, “in the form of a thematically linked anthology. I love to work with novella length stories for the immediacy of their characters and narrative momentum, but to thread them with themes that present a greater, unspoken message is a chance to elevate the stories to a sum greater than its respective parts. It also allowed me to explore more subtle elements to create a pervasive, unnerving, Gothic dread that readers attest lingers with them long after the last page.”
Roland Allnach is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at fiction@rolandallnach.com. ‘Oddities & Entities’ is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, All Things That Matter Press and from his website. The book is available in Audible, Kindle, Nook and print formats. More information is available at his website at http://www.rolandallnach.com.
Profile:
Roland Allnach has been writing since his teens, but did not actively seek publication until 2007. He has numerous published short stories to his credit, one of which was a 2010 Pushcart Prize nominee, as well as two books, ‘Remnant’ (2010) and ‘Oddities & Entities’ (2012). Both titles are recipients of multiple national awards, including National Indie Excellence Awards, Readers Favorite Book of the Year Awards, USA Book News Best Book Awards, and ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year Awards. Roland’s literary inspirations arise from classic literature, history, and mythology, and his aim is to invest his stories and characters with a complexity and depth that continue to reward upon repeated readings.

Depression And Assisted Suicide: Terezia Farkas, Author Of Book About Depression, Issues Statement
An Alberta judge recently sentenced an American to 8 months for assisting her mother's suicide. Terezia Farkas, author of 'Heart Of Love Evolution - Surviving Depression', believes Alberta law punishes, but does not deter suicide
American citizen Linda McNall was recently sentenced to 8 months in Alberta, Canada for helping her seriously ill mother commit suicide. The suicide of her mother was a part of a mother/daughter suicide pact gone awry. McNall survived the suicide attempt and was arrested after showing up at a nearby Canadian hospital.
“The story of Ms McNall is distressing on several levels,” stated Ms. Farkas. “At the most basic level it is the story of a person struggling against depression and losing that battle. The decision to commit suicide is a very difficult one. You are so hopeless and despairing, you have a sense that only death can bring you peace and happiness. To survive a suicide attempt is miraculous. But instead of being met with appreciation that she was still alive, Ms McNall was arrested, judged and then dumped back into society without any long term emotional supports or life-line to mental help.”
“If we simply consider the issue as one about suicide, the Alberta law punishes, not deters, suicide. Suicide becomes a moral judgment. This law tells people suicide is wrong. If you survive, you will be prosecuted.”
“Recently the suicide of Christopher Peloso, husband of ex-cabinet minister George Smitherman, brought about a national discussion of suicide and its social stigma. Mr. Smitherman rightly declared that he was not ashamed or afraid to talk about Christopher’s suicide. Bell Canada has its annual Let’s Talk day on January 28 when Canadians are encouraged to talk openly about depression. Yet in the case of Ms. McNall, there was no conversation. Alberta judged her as a criminal and then deported her to the United States knowing there was no mental help waiting for her.”
“McNall is still considered to be a suicide risk. The request for a direct hospital to hospital transfer was not accepted. McNall only has a few weeks supply of anti-depressants. With no real family connections and no money, McNall may end up in a woman’s shelter if she’s lucky. More likely McNall will be on the street. Currently 60%, or 6 out of 10, Americans with mental illness do not receive treatment for their condition because they are uninsured, leaving no option for mental health care except in emergency departments. In November 2013 the Affordable Care Act’s Parity rules were finally enacted years after being signed into law by President George W. Bush. For McNall those rules still have not given her the mental health care she desperately needs or deserves. “
“There is an instinct, a need to hide depression. But when you are depressed you need to talk about it. When you get quiet, that’s the time you want to die. You have a quiet thought out plan that makes complete sense to you. That’s when you walk out the door one night and go missing, or try to poison yourself with propane gas. In McNall’s case, two people decided that their pain was unbearable. The mental anguish it took to agree to suicide, to make the trip, breathe in that one last good moment, and then say goodbye forever to this world is something most people cannot comprehend. It is the darkness, the inescapable despair and torment that depression brings to a person.”
Terezia Farkas, author of the best-selling depression memoir 'Heart of Love Evolution - Surviving Depression', never imagined that she would attempt suicide until she slipped deeper and deeper into a state of desperation and depression. Her attempted suicides were a slow wake-up call that she needed to love herself. Her example shows that overcoming depression, while challenging, is not impossible.
Growing up with an emotionally abusive alcoholic father, and a mother dying from cancer, Terezia stepped into the role of caregiver and homemaker at an early age. When her mother died, Terezia went from grief to depression and attempted suicides. Terezia's deepening despair made her not only question the meaning of her life, but also contemplate other elements that contributed to her state of depression.
Terezia was strong enough to survive her dark nights of the soul. She turned her life around by looking for the light within her experiences and through loving herself. She eventually found her soul path that at the end led her to a higher level of being and self-love. Terezia's message of hope and self-love shows that those who suffer from depression can go past the pain and hopelessness and can end up recovering from depression.

Long Term Effect Of Genetically Modified Foods - A.W. Daniels, Author of 'Genetically Privileged' Issues Statement
Daniels is the author of two fiction novels that address the issue of genetic engineering. Daniels believes the implications of genetic engineering, both now and in the future, are staggering
The genetic modification of plants, and animals, has been going on for thousands of years. From manipulating the color of a flower to introducing desired traits in breeding, both man and nature have participated in the influence of evolution. And few know genetically modified foods have been part of the American diet in the form of cereals, corn syrup and other additives in prepared and canned goods for decades.
Most of these adaptations have been on the macro level, such as the cross-pollination of plants or cross-breeding animals for size or stature, but advances in technology have allowed us to influence DNA on a cellular level, with ramifications yet unknown.
We can’t ignore the constructive nature that has come as a result of these advances. Increased crop yields and resistance to disease and blight or even medicinal foods that can be used as vaccines and other medications, are only a few of the positives that will benefit the growing population of our planet.
But the negatives so far seem to be directed at short-term matters such as labeling and the introduction of allergens, e.g. using peanut genes to alter a vegetable resulting in possible toxicity when consumed by someone sensitive to peanuts.
“Our attention,” Daniels stated, “should also be directed to the possible long-term consequences of the consumption of these genetically altered foods by the masses. That doesn’t mean we should put an abrupt halt to all genetically modified foodstuffs, especially considering the aforementioned benefits. But common sense should enter into our considerations. Perhaps our priorities should include test, test, retest, and then test again.”
“This is probably obvious to most and there’s no doubt that genetically modified foods are tested much more vigorously than those supplied by nature. However our efforts should include extensive multi-generational testing. What mutations will our genetic manipulations provoke down the road several generations after Mother Nature has had her chance to view our creations? Will she slap us with her own, possibly toxic, responses? Currently, the companies involved in genetic processing say there is little, if any substantial difference between the modified foods and what Mother Nature offers. But if that is accurate, why are patents being secured by those same corporations? That should bring us to the next priority – the commerce of designer genes.”
“It is estimated that 90% of the worldwide market share of genetically modified crops is controlled by one company, Monsanto. This could create the prioritization of profit over concern for the general welfare of the population. We should also consider the elements of control by a single, or relatively few corporate entities, of a basic daily necessity by every human on the planet. The rules of supply and demand could be seriously compromised without the presence of healthy competition.”
Those future benefits and challenges of genetic engineering, as well as the social implications, are subjects addressed in a pair of novels by Daniels, the first entitled "Genetically Privileged", and the second, now in release, entitled 'Genetically Conflicted'.
In the storyline of 'Genetically Privileged', nature disappoints a young couple's aspirations of parenthood. They turn to a series of fertility experts and finally an old friend. Their friend, as it turns out, has been modifying the human genome for a government project and the couple becomes entangled in a web of deceit. ‘Genetically Privileged’ is a socially relevant read, addressing the advancements of technology and science as Daniels speculates on the social impact of those developments.
In ‘Genetically Conflicted’, the seemingly idyllic world of the genetically engineered students from ‘Genetically Privileged’ is shattered as they are confronted by a foe bent on destroying not only their lifestyle but also those responsible for their very existence. The students learn quickly that theirs is not the only reality on this planet as they find themselves in a fight for survival against an enemy that insist upon unconditional compliance in return for their lives. These demands become increasingly complex as the students find their adversaries to be from the same family tree as their own. The students are still as charming as they were in the first edition; they’ve just learned to become more lethal.
“There are many other facets to this topic,” Daniels emphasized, “not mentioned here that cannot be overlooked. Most of which have solutions that can be accomplished with labeling and proper regulation. Though the FDA will need to seriously examine, and update, their criteria to accommodate such advances in knowledge. But it should be deemed imperative that any long-term harmful consequences be eliminated before we accept the immediate benefits of a technology that will affect the populace on such a worldwide scale.”
A.W. Daniels is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at aw.daniels@yahoo.com. Both books are available at Amazon, Smashwords and CreateSpace. More information is available at Daniels' website at http://www.AWDaniels.net.
About A. W. Daniels:
‘Genetically Privileged’ and 'Genetically Conflicted' are the first two offerings in a series of works by A. W. Daniels. The author's ability to craft compelling stories has been honed by extensive travel and observation of the human nature. This allows Mr. Daniels to weave a tapestry that colorfully, and sometimes bluntly, exposes the good and evil humankind inflicts on each other daily.

Positive Psychologist And Author Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein Offers 8 Tips To Overcome Holiday Blues
Dr. Holstein believes that overcoming the Holiday blues is but the first step in a much larger constellation. She offers 8 powerful tips for 2014 that can help anyone start down the path to real success and to lead a fulfilled and joyous life
A recent article on the Time Magazine website entertainment section presented a list of movies that could help overcome the Holiday blues. The list included such notable movies as 'Eyes Wide Shut', 'Scent of a Woman' and 'Edward Scissorhands'. Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, Positive Psychologist and developer of the Enchanted Self, believes the list could be improved and that there is much more that can be done to not only overcome the Holiday blues, but to also make 2014 the best year ever.
"Interesting list of movies," Holstein stated, "but as a positive psychologist and an expert in helping girls tweens, teens and women develop into their gutsy potential, I would suggest that we consider the healthy nostalgia that comes from connecting with some of the best winter movies ever. A few tears shed as we come home to 'A Miracle on 34th Street', 'A Christmas Story' or 'It's a Wonderful Life', are well shed."
"These are the movies that remind us that miracles can happen, the good guy can win, little kids can have their wishes fulfilled and life is worth living. Aren't these messages what the Holidays are all about? They help us come home to the best of ourselves and there is no better recipe for offsetting the Holiday Blues than being the best you can be."
Dr Holstein offers the following tips to improving one's attitude in the coming year:
1. Send a late present to someone you didn't include on your list or give to a charity you pushed aside.
2. Make three New Year's resolutions for yourself. Make one easy, one a little harder and one a stretch. Fold the paper and keep it in your wallet or pocketbook. Review once a month, modify if necessary.
3. Make sure you smile every day at a least one person.
4. Compliment at least one person a day and make it real. For example, you may not want to wear that purple scarf on Jane, but you can honestly say it looks good on her.
5. Play a good deed forward at least once a month, such as paying ahead in line for the person's cup of coffee that is behind you in line.
6. Remember yourself with small treats and time to replenish. You and the world will benefit from you taking care of yourself.
7. Talk to the people in your life, including your kids, without your cell phone in hand.
8. Don't drive and text. Staying alive is essential for all of the above.
Dr. Holstein is a prolific writer who crosses genres with ease. Dr. Holstein's book for teens and tweens, ‘The Truth, (I’m a girl, I’m Smart and I Know Everything)’ is a first in positive psychology. It is a fiction book for girls, tweens and teens. Written by an 11 year old girl as a diary, Dr. Barbara has embedded within the story positive truths and concepts geared to help girls develop self-esteem and resiliency. Sky Pony Press will be publishing The Truth in the summer of 2014.
Her second book in The Truth Series is 'Secrets: You Tell Me Yours and I’ll Tell You Mine…Maybe!’ Now the girl is 13. She handles many adolescent issues, including a crush, moving, a death in the family, feeling fat and problems with girlfriends. 'Secrets' provides a book kids and parents and grandparents can share and use as a sounding board for needed communication between the generations.
Both 'The Truth' and 'Secrets' are great for grandparents, older siblings and teachers to establish lines of communication with the tweens in their lives. Both books will be re-released by Sky Pony Press.
Dr. Holstein believes that getting in touch with your strengths, talents and potential at every age, as well as learning how to hold on to the wise, playful, happy, gutsy and energetic girl that still resides within each woman is essential for mental health.
To assist this process she has written many books, including: case study material as presented in The Enchanted Self, A Positive Therapy; inspirational stories as presented in Recipes for Enchantment, The Secret Ingredient is YOU! and romance, mystery books designed to bring fun and learning into women's lives. Latest books are: Parts 1 and 2 of Next Year in Jerusalem! available in paper and as e-books; Parts 1,2 and 3 of Next Year in Jerusalem! incorporated into Around Every Corner on Kindle.
In addition to running a thriving practice, Dr. Holstein is a very successful author. She is available for media interview and can be reached using the information below or by email at drbarbara@enchantedself.com. All of her works are available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and all other online retailers. More information is available at her website at http://www.NewRomanceBooks.com.

Author Jeffrey W. Kern Chosen As One Of '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' for 2013 - 2014
Kern was chosen as the result of a public voting process. His work, entitled ‘Golf Made Easy’, is a book that approaches golf instruction using a unique ‘backwards’ approach
Jeffrey W. Kern, author of ‘Golf Made Easy - A Backward Approach To Learning Golf . . . Or Is It?’, has been chosen as one of ’50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading’. The awards were sponsored by The Authors Show. His win secures a place in ’50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading’, an annual publication that will be available in January 2014.
‘Gold Made Easy - A Backward Approach To Learning Golf . . . Or Is It?’ teaches golf in an unusual manner. The basics of golf are presented in ‘Golf Made Easy’ with putting being taught first. This goes against all traditional methods of teaching, where driving is usually the first thing taught to new students.
“I wrote this book” Kern stated, “for all of the people who have always wanted to learn the game of golf but have always thought that it was too hard. By using my proven methods readers will learn quicker, play more consistently and best of all enjoy doing it. Learning the game of golf using the ‘Backward Approach’ really is that easy.”
The method used by Kern is considered by many to be the easiest and most enjoyable way to learn the game of golf. There are no tricks, gimmicks or gadgets involved in Kern’s method, just an enjoyable, easy to follow step-by-step instruction that teaches readers the basics.
The book has a 4.5 out of 5 star rating on Amazon. One reviewer stated, “This book is less than 100 pages and is such a great guide. The chapters and content are organized well, and I know it's a book I will be referring to again and again as I go golfing. I really enjoyed this book and not only will I read it again, but I am definitely bringing it on my next trip with my family so I can have everyone read it as well. I think they will really gain a lot from it. I highly recommend this book.”
Jeffrey W. Kern is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at kernje@yahoo.com. ‘Golf Made Easy’ is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo and from numerous other book retailers. More information is available at his website at http://www.sbpra.com/jeffrey2kern/.

After Iraq he took a different career path and became a professional golf instructor and a certified professional club fitter. Acclaimed Florida Author Gary Showalter Announces Mystery Novel, ‘Hog Valley’, Now Available In Audiobook Format
Gary Showalter writes in the tradition of John D. MacDonald, Elmore Leonard, James Grippando and Carl Hiassen. His novels have been called 'impossible to put down'. ‘Hog Valley’ is another of his most popular works. The audiobook version of ‘Hog Valley’ is available at Audible
Florida author Gary Showalter has announced that his popular mystery novel, ‘Hog Valley’ is now available in audiobook format. Gary Showalter’s works follow in the tradition of great mystery novelists such as John D. MacDonald, Elmore Leonard, James Grippando and Carl Hiassen. The audiobook release of ‘Hog Valley’ is now available at Audible.com.
"The enthusiasm readers have shown," Showalter stated, "for 'The Big Bend' and the other novels in the Terry Rankin series prompted me to move into the audio book market. In fact, a few of my readers over the years have mentioned that these stories would be ideal as audio books, and the sales since ‘The Big Bend’ was released have proved their point.”:
In the ‘Hog Valley’ storyline, Terry Rankin is the owner of Rankin Protective Services Inc. in Orlando, Florida. It's a small company with a few very nice contracts. Terry has a meeting scheduled with Travis Warren, at his horse ranch just north of Ocala. He has invested a few months in negotiating for a very lucrative contract to provide bodyguard services to Mr. Warren and his family, and this is the morning when all of that time and effort are going to pay off for him. He does not expect to walk into a home invasion.
As the thieves wrap up their looting, Rankin, along with Mr. and Mrs. Warren, are being held in Travis Warren's office. Terry watches through the French doors along the rear wall of the room as five well-dressed but slightly disheveled Latino gentlemen cross the back lawn and step up onto the flagstone patio. As the leader of the thieves raises his shotgun toward Rankin and the Warrens, Terry watches in relief as the Latinos open fire into the backs of the invaders. What Rankin doesn't know is that the five Latinos have orders to shoot him on sight.
‘Hog Valley’ has achieved received a 4.3 out of 5-star rating on Amazon, with 27 five star reviews.
In addition to ‘Hog Valley’, Showalter is also the author of 'The Big Bend', 'Twisted Key' and 'Lonesome Cove'. He has been described as a master of descriptive writing, with excellent character development, tremendous scene description and short, punchy action scenes. Gary Showalter writes with a wry, sardonic sense of humor, and his work treats romance as it should be; lightly, gently, and with a quirky understanding of the tender side of human nature.
The audiobook version of ‘Hog Valley’ is available at Audible.com. Gary Showalter is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at gary@garyshowalter.com.

Author C. Robert Cales Chosen As One Of '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' for 2013 - 2014
Cales was chosen as the result of a public voting process. His work, entitled ‘The Bookseller’, is a paranormal thriller that has received rave reviews from readers
C. Robert Cales, author of ‘The Bookseller’, has been chosen as one of ’50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading’. The awards were sponsored by The Authors Show. His win secures a place in ’50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading’, an annual publication available in January 2014
‘The Bookseller’, written in the tradition of Stephen King and Anne Rice, is a paranormal thriller. Unlike many novels in the genre, the book is character driven and offers readers an emotional bond.
“Being voted as one of '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' could be a glimmer of sunlight in the darkness,” Cales stated. “I have a gift I’ve wanted to share with the world for years and now The Authors Show with its annual competition has opened the door to priceless exposure. Readers now have the opportunity to discover the kind of story that will cling to their minds well after the last page is turned.”
In the storyline of ‘The Bookseller’, Carlos Ramirez is the ruthless leader of a South American drug cartel, violent beyond the pale and yet he is but the tip of the iceberg. He hides a dark secret that has plagued humanity from the beginning, a secret that runs red with blood. Carlos is the latest incarnation of an evil nonhuman spirit that the world has known by other names: Cain, Attila the Hun, Caligula, Vlad the Impaler, Blackbeard the Pirate, Jack the Ripper and Adolf Hitler, to name a few. The nonhuman spirit skips from life to life through time while maintaining memories of everything.
His best men have just perfected a method of infusing liquid cocaine into the pages of books and withdrawing it at the destination point. He has located a bookstore in the perfect location for acquisition to complete the first step of his plan. However, it soon becomes evident that he picked the wrong bookstore.
The book has a 4.9 out of 5 star rating on Amazon. One reviewer stated, “…so many genres are effectively combined here that it reminded me in some ways of Stephen King's ‘Dark Tower’ series, only much more condensed. This is the type of story I could easily see adapted into a film. I highly recommend ‘The Bookseller’”.
“Readers will enjoy this book,” Cales stated, “because of the depth of the characters, the emotions they evoke and a rich, mind bending plot that will take them down a road they’ve never traveled. They will be drawn into the story and fall in love with good people leading interesting lives. They will look into the eyes of pure evil and hate the nameless thing with its many lives. They will be terrified by the knowledge that the two are on a collision course.”

Author Ian Moore-Morrans Chosen as One Of “50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading” for 2013 - 2014
Moore-Morrans was chosen as the result of a public voting process. His work, entitled “From Poverty to Poverty: A Scotsman Encounters Canada” describes his immigration from Scotland to Canada during the depression and war years
Ian Moore-Morrans, author of “From Poverty To Poverty: A Scotsman Encounters Canada”, has been chosen as one of “50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading”. The awards were sponsored by The Authors Show. His win secures a place in “50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading”, an annual publication that will be available in January 2014.
‘‘From Poverty To Poverty: A Scotsman Encounters Canada” will likely prove fascinating for anyone interested in biography; Scottish life during the depression and war years; teenage life in the Salvation Army; Scottish folk music, brass band and 1940s-1960s’ tunes; early 1950's Royal Air Force life; Egypt during pre-Suez crisis days; or even immigration to Canada.
“I’m a Scottish Highlander,” Moore-Morrans stated, “through and through, including the accent. In North America more often than not when people meet me they identify my accent and many then tell me of a Scottish ancestor. When I inquire, they usually tell me that the ancestor is dead and they know little about them. Folks have always been intrigued about my impoverished background, the difficulties I faced as an immigrant and about Scottish topics in general. I finally resolved to document my story for my descendants and anyone else who might be interested.”
Ian’s Scottish childhood during the depression and war years is spent in abject poverty. Apprenticed to a blacksmith at 14, he begins a lifelong avocation making music. Life improves upon entering the Royal Air Force as an aircraft engine mechanic and bandsman in Britain and Egypt. Returning to civilian life as a machinist, he marries and fathers two daughters. Misled by inflated promises of an unscrupulous Canadian official, Ian and his family immigrate to Canada in 1965. Misadventures in finding and keeping jobs and suitable accommodations lead Ian to conclude that he has only moved “from poverty to poverty.”
“The central message of my book,” Ian continued, “is that it is possible to overcome a negative lifestyle like poverty. However, in order to do so, one has to have grit, perseverance, sometimes luck and even humor to get through it all. I’ve tried to look for humor in each and every situation. When all else fails, a good laugh and then, determining to pick yourself up and start anew, will help you deal with most things that life throws at you.”
Ian Moore-Morrans or his wife/editor Gayle Moore-Morrans are available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at gayleian@gmail.com. Ian has been in poor health the last five years so, if he is not well enough for an interview, Gayle will take up the challenge. “From Poverty To Poverty: A Scotsman Encounters Canada” is available at Amazon. More information is available at their website at http://ianmooremorrans.com.
Profile:
A Scottish-Canadian and retired machinist, Ian Moore-Morrans hails from Campbeltown on the Kintyre peninsula, Argyll, Scotland. He has lived in various places in Canada since emigrating from Scotland in 1965. Taking up writing at age 63, Ian first published an e-book entitled "Metal Machining Made Easy" (as Ian Morrans). Since 2004, Ian has relied on the editing skills of his wife, Gayle, whom he met in 2003 where they started a conversation about the eclectic assortment of stories Ian was writing. When Ian learned that Gayle was a magazine editor, he began to envision them working together. Three months later they married, combining their birth surnames to form the new family name “Moore-Morrans.” After Gayle retired in 2004, they left Canada to explore retirement in Mexico. There they began to collaborate on writing and editing Ian’s stories. Returning to Canada in 2007, they settled in the beautiful Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. In 2010 they published Ian's novel,” Beyond the Phantom Battle: Mystery at Loch Ashie” and in 2012, volume one of Ian's autobiography, “From Poverty to Poverty: A Scotsman Encounters Canada.”
