Tinika Ross, author of 'Madness', has been chosen as a finalist for '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'. Winners will appear in this years edition of the book by the same title. Tinika was chosen as the result of her appearance on The Authors Show Radio.
Post traumatic stress disorder affects millions of Americans. Some studies put the number of sufferers at over 30 million in the US alone. It is not limited to US veterans, as anyone who suffers a traumatic events can suffer from PTSD. This idea is the basis for Ross' novel. Ross explores the impact of PTSD and sheds light on living with the disorder from a number of different perspectives.

PTSD and sexual assault are sensitive topics, but a common part of some people's lives. I'm glad to be able to help raise awareness through my writing."
In the storyline of Ross' fiction novel, Langston Wellman lives a carefree existence as a waitress. This changes one night when Langston's car stalls. A stranger offers her a ride, but instead of taking her to a tow shop, he takes her into the woods and assaults her. The same day in Iraq, Tripp Price celebrates his birthday with his best friend, Jimmy Baker. The celebration is cut short when their unit is assigned to a mission. While fulfilling their mission, the unit is ambushed and as a result, Tripp suffers a traumatic brain injury. Jimmy ends up in a coma and loses both legs. Due to these unfortunate events, Langston and Tripp leave their old homes and move to the same town in New Jersey. Through a number of chance meetings, they become close friends and help each other overcome their respective challenges.
