The World Health Organization has declared that one of the most used chemical herbicides, glyphosate, is “probably carcinogenic”. Author and advocate Jennifer Lang believes it's time to take a stand
The New York Times, USA Today, The Washington Post and Fox News all carried stories about carcinogenic herbicides such as glyphosate recently. Tracy Loew, in an article on the USA Today web site, stated that a report published by Lancet Oncology stated glyphosate is likely carcinogenic. Their report came from the International Agency for Research on Cancer, the cancer research arm of the World Health Organization.
"We are past the time for action," Lang stated. "We have to insist on transparency and accountability. The lives of the next generation are at risk and business as usual is no longer acceptable. We are truly insane if we expect to keep using the same pesticides, eating the same GMO foods and expecting a different result. Healthy alkaline bodies will not be achieved this way."
Jennifer is an GMO activist, musician and author of 'The Whistle Blower's Confession." Jennifer had both feet firmly on the music path when tragedy intervened and her mother became very ill. Jennifer’s motto is never give up and, as she faced her mother’s illness and taking care of her, she couldn’t just stop there. As she became a caregiver, the keen curiosity and investigative inclinations that served her in college as a political science major helped her uncover that many of the issues her mother suffered from could be traced back to GMO’s. And that’s when the seeds of her book "The Whistle Blower’s Confession" were planted. The book has been called "The Pelican Brief meets Silkwood with a GMO twist".
In this psychological thriller, Kelly Anderson, an investigative reporter, who after the death of her aunt to cancer, uncovers and wages war against a biotech company and US government plot to systematically change the DNA of the American people through the country’s food supply for corporate gain, power and control. It may read like a movie, but the story behind the book is shockingly true. Just like her protagonist, Lang set out to investigate what was causing her mother’s chronic illness, only to discover that it was the Genetically-Modified Organisms being snuck into her food. 'The Whistle Blower's Confession' is Jennifer's attempt to expose the travesty to the nation, proving that each and every American has become part of an involuntary feeding study that is killing people at alarming rates. 'The Whistle Blower's Confession’ has received rave reviews from readers and has garnered a Readers' Favorite award of 5 Stars..
"Genetically modified foods have infiltrated about 90% of US crops," stated Jennifer. "Almost all corn, soy, sugar beets and cotton in the world are genetically modified. These foods also happen to be some of the most widely used foods in food production. They can be camouflaged in soda, juice, breakfast cereal, canned meats, bacon and even milk. Genetically modifying food is not the same as naturally breeding plants. The lab based technique is uncontrolled and has been proven to damage the plant’s genetic make up. This leads to mutations, alterations to a plants nutritional value, poor crop performance, unforeseen harm to the environment and people enduring toxic and allergenic effects."
"Since the proliferation of GMO crops, there has actually been an increase in herbicide and pesticide use. Since nature adapts, plants become resistant to these herbicides and pesticides and therefore an increased use of stronger chemicals is needed. This explains why the allowed limit for chemicals such as glyphosate in crops has increased over the years. The truth is that these types of chemicals actually kill nutrients and organisms in the soil in which it is used. These nutrients and organisms are key in natural biodiversity and preventing plant disease. This has had a serious impact on our wildlife and non-pest insect populations."
