Donna Louis provides an in-depth study of some of Christianity's most well-documented miracles. She attempts to expand and explain both the purpose and the direction of those miracles
A recent story on CBS News told the tale of Stan Larkin, who lived for 555 days without a heart, waiting for a transplant. He was near death when the doctors implanted an artificial device that kept him alive 555 days before he received his transplant. This story captured the hearts and minds of Americans and was detailed not only on CBS News' but also Fox news, Forbes - in fact nearly every news organization.
In another miraculous story, a 37 year old Portuguese woman, declared brain dead after suffering a hemorrhage, gave birth to a healthy child. The baby was delivered via Caesarean section after 32 weeks in his mother's womb. Doctors kept the mother on life support to allow the baby time to develop more fully. The story ran on Fox, Pravda, Medical Daily and many other. Mirror.co.uk referred to the child as a "miracle baby".
The dictionary defines a miracle as an extraordinary event in the physical world. When we think of miracles, those of us in Western countries often think of walking on water and raising people from the dead. But perhaps a miracle does not have to involve a supernatural being or power who directly causes these things to happen through supernatural means. Perhaps that Power works in physical reality through the minds and the hands of mankind. This begs the question: Are these modern day stories miracles? Certainly they are, if we believe God works through man in the world.
Donna Louis' new book, 'Miracles of Direction, Miracles of Conquest, Miracles of Provision and Miracles of Purpose' explores biblical miracles that took place while Jesus was here on earth. She then references with miracles that take place on a daily basis in the modern world. She separates these miracles into four categories and presents insightful example of each type, taken directly from the Bible.
Louis knows her subject well, as she has personally experienced three miracles. As the result of those life-altering experiences, she began an in-depth study of some of Christianity's most well-documented miracles. In her book, she attempts to expand upon and explain both the purpose and the direction of those miracles.
"God is the Author and Finisher of our fate," Louis stated. "God can create life through a dead organ the same way he can continue life through an artificial device. God is the be all and end all that is why he is named Jehovah Jireh which means the Lord our Provider."
Donna Louis was chosen as a winner in the 2015 '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' awards contest. 'Miracles' has also received rave reviews from readers. One review called it "amazing, uplifting and inspirational". Another stated, "I was profoundly impressed by the writing."
