The Authors Show helps “Give Voice to Women through the Arts” by facilitating the selection of six of its show guests to travel to China under a grant from the U. S. State Department.
When the U.S. State Department issued a grant titled "Give Voice to Women through the Arts” as part of its cultural exchange program, Danielle Hampson, Executive Producer of The Authors Show, who volunteers her time and resources to help the mission of World Academy for the Future of Women (WAFW) around the globe wasted no time, and turned to her extensive pool of authors to help WAFW find writers and illustrators qualified to teach a module in China.
Following interviews and training at the WAFW headquarters in Phoenix, AZ, the following women were selected to travel for five weeks as facilitators for WAFW in China between September 2017 and June 2018:
Leslie Karen Hammond (CT), Norma Thompson Hollis (CA), Jacqui Letran (NC), Cindy Lewis (FL), Mildred D. Muhammad (MD), Shanalee Sharboneau (TX).
“Art is the expression of imagination that conveys beauty and emotions, and artists express themselves in different ways," Hampson stated. "Like the painter who paints and the musician who performs music, writers write and illustrators draw to express their creativity. They are all artists thus it made sense to me to include them in this program, and knowing the quality of the thousands of authors The Authors Show has processed in over a decade, I knew we would find among them candidates who would fit the criteria set forth by WAFW.”
Since 2009 WAFW has been sending volunteer facilitators to Sias Int’l University in Henan province, China, to teach modules that are part of an extensive advanced global leadership program for young university women that address the UN Development Goals in emerging nations. WAFW’s “voice” can be heard online at WorldAcademyRadio.com, a podcast created and hosted by Ms. Hampson to give Academy students, alumni and facilitators a platform to share their experience with WAFW, and the life changing outcome these modules create for participating students.
