Evangelical Outreach Ex Catholic Dan Corner Takes Issue With Our Lady Of Fatima's Irreconcilable Differences With God's Word

Corner is a former pastor and Christian author who, over four decades has preached perhaps 1000 or more sermons and has written hundreds of Christian articles and a number of books of vital importance to Christians.

In a recent piece on romereports.com, Pope Francis is quoted as saying "I will go to Fatima on a pilgrimage, to entrust to the Virgin the temporal and eternal destinies of humanity." Evangelical Outreach ex-Catholic Dan Corner and author of 'Is This The Mary Of The Bible?' takes issue with the Fatima apparitions, as the Fatima apparition makes statements that directly conflict with scripture. Corner had this to say:

One of the all time best known Catholic Marian apparitions occurred in Fatima Portugal in 1917. They consist of three apparitions of angels and at least six apparitions of Mary. Those apparitions would have us focus our attention upon Mary, who has become known as "Our Lady of Fatima." Because of these Fatima visions, Mary has been declared to be our refuge and protector, as well as the way to God and so forth. Moreover, according to those Catholic visions, amends for sin are also to be made to Mary. It is estimated that multiple millions of people go to that Fatima shrine each year, thereby reflecting its importance to multitudes.

Officially speaking, Catholics are not bound to believe in any of the Marian apparitions, such as Fatima (1917), but it must also be noted that all popes from Benedict XV (1914-1922) and afterwards have favorably spoken about Fatima, showing their endorsement of those Marian apparitions and corresponding doctrines. Therefore, to the Catholic laity, the 1917 Fatima visions are a definite message "directly from heaven" itself. In fact, Tan Book and Publishers has printed a booklet on Fatima entitled that very thing – "Our Lady's of Fatima's Peace Plan From Heaven." Consequently, the Catholic laity of 1 billion plus will accept Fatima and all the related dogmas.

As a former Roman Catholic, the following 1917 Fatima quote is most significant to me:

"I (Mary) will never leave you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God" (Lucia Speaks on The Message of Fatima, Ave Maria Institute, 1968, p.26).

It was over that very statement that I finally left Roman Catholicism because of its irreconcilable differences with God's word. God's truth declares the PRECIOUS Lord Jesus as "the way" to the Father (Jn. 14:6) and God himself as our "refuge" (Psa. 46:1; etc.).

So, how can such a scripture-conflicting statement from "Our Lady at Fatima" be reconciled to God's truth? The answer is found in 2 Cor. 11:14: "And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light". The devil, who is not in hell now, is always trying to religiously deceive and tempt people away from God's ways. It is also important to know that the devil has power to perform miracles (2 Thess. 2:9,10; Rev. 13:13-15; 16:14; 19:20; etc.). These biblical truths also explain the Fatima "Miracle of the Sun." Remember: any apparition or miracle which does not parallel God's written word is not from the same source that gave us the Bible.

Besides the aforementioned doctrinal differences with scripture, the following Fatima false prophecy is another nail in the Fatima coffin, further diminishing the credibility of the Catholic magisterium, which has approved all these false prophecies and visions. That false prophecy unfolds from the report first given on May 13, 1917, then on July 13th:

"I [the personage claiming to be Mary] came to ask you to come here for six successive months, on the 13th day at the same hour" (ibid., p. 22).

"I [the personage claiming to be Mary] want you to come here on the 13th of next month [August 1917]" (ibid., 28).

In contrast, the fourth of the Fatima visions occurred on August 15, 1917 and in a place other than the Cova da Iria called Valinhos; in other words, that particular vision occurred at the wrong time and at the wrong place according to the repeated prediction or “prophecy” of where and when the vision was supposed to take place. Such is tantamount to a false prophecy. If we consider the foregoing, plus the aforementioned unscriptural teaching at Fatima, it becomes even more clear that the so called "Our Lady of Fatima" is not the real Mary of the Bible, but instead our enemy, the "father of lies" (Jn. 8:44). Even more evidence unfolds with the following unscriptural Fatima narrative:

“I [the personage claiming to be Mary] promise to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, go to Confession and receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary and keep me company for a quarter of an hour while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me" (ibid., p. 47).

The true gospel (plan of salvation) of the Bible bares absolutely no resemblance whatsoever to the counterfeit gospel of Our Lady of Fatima. True salvation comes from repentance from sin and a heart-felt submissive faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to follow and serve him unashamedly (Acts 20:21; 26:20; Lk. 9:23; Gal. 3:26). Such a submissive faith in the Lord Jesus in turn will result in freedom from sin's addictions and will transform a former servant of the devil to a servant of God (Rom.6:22). Such faith will also result in rest for one's soul (Mt. 11:29), unfeigned love for Christians (1 John 3:14), obedience to God's commands (1 Jn. 2:3,4) and being ashamed of one's past life of sin before salvation (Rom. 6:21). Furthermore, the true Christian has become an object of God's mercy (Titus 3:5; Pet. 2:10; etc.), a recipient of eternal life (Jn. 6:47; 1 Jn. 5:12,13; etc.) and is now a new creation in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17).

Imagine being a faithful Catholic who implicitly trusts the magisterium. You go to daily mass, the stations of the cross and to confession; you receive the Eucharist weekly, perform novenas, and have been on Fatima pilgrimages; finally, at the hour of your death, you call on Mary only to die and find out too late you have been dreadfully wrong and misled by your trusted leaders. This tragedy has been the reality for hundreds of millions of Catholics, including canonized Catholics “saints.” To make matters worse, many non-Catholics are not doing anything to help Catholics find true biblical salvation. Why aren’t they? Ignorance is part of it, but the ecumenical non-Catholic compromise with Catholics is also a major part of the problem. True Christians need to reach out to the world’s billion dear Catholics and to share these vital truths with them. God bless you.
