Williams' new video teaches kids how to use best practices in regards to avoiding the coronovirus. Williams employs her talent as a writer and poet to create an entertaining and engaging presentation that will teach children how to follow proper guidelines for safety.
In regards to avoiding the coronavirus, nearly everybody has difficulty maintaining the presence of mind to remember to avoid sneezing into our hands, refrain from touching our face, shaking hands or remembering to wash our hands for the minimum amount of time. If we have trouble with this, how could we possibly teach our ever-distracted children to do the same?
CNN recently launched a new podcast entitled "Coronavirus: Fact VS Fiction with Dr. Sanjay Gupta”. In one of the episodes Gupta made the point that children don't get as sick from the coronavirus but that they are carriers, spreading it to people who are more susceptible, hence the need for school closings.
So how do we instill healthy habits in our kids and keep them aware? Cheryl Williams has the answer.
We create a rhyme, set it to meter and teach it to kids in ways that are both fun and engaging. Williams uses her award winning poetry skills and her background as a school nurse to do just that. She has written a new poem, entitled 'Healthy Soldiers' that teaches these practices to children. She has turned the new poem into a video and has posted it so school children can access it via Youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy7gpv75oQQ. The poem begins with:
We are healthy soldiers
We have a part to play
To keep our bodies healthy
And keep the germs away
We must always sneeze in our sleeves
Do you know what that means?
It means we close our elbows tight
And give our face a squeeze
The poem concludes with:
Together we can build a fort
To keep the germs outside
Like soldiers on a mission
For our bodies we will fight
"With the World Health Organization now calling the Coronavirus a pandemic, and so many people worldwide in a state of panic, I wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone that there is a lot that they can do to help prevent the spread of this virus," Williams stated.
"As an Elementary school nurse having close contact with young children on a daily basis, I felt it was imperative to educate them on the importance of doing their part. Helping them understand the vital role they play in making a difference."

Williams was named Top Female Author in the 2019 Top Female Author Awards in the poetry category. The win came as the result of her most recent book, 'A Collection Of Poems: A Journey Through Life'. Williams was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors by a panel of judges.
Writing has helped Williams connect with her inner self, finding positive ways to cope with life's struggles. She has been writing and singing for as long as she can remember.
Throughout her childhood she sang in both the church and school choir, and also enjoyed singing at talent shows and music festivals. As an adult she also participated in concerts, performing as a solo artist.
Music and writing are the tools that bring her fulfillment and healing. Her book, 'A Collection Of Poems', takes us through the power of the human mind, good or bad, and its impact on one's direction and journey through life.
With the help of music, writing, and positive thinking, Williams found hope and purpose in life. Life isn't fair. It is unpredictable, bad things happen to good people, and we never know what tomorrow holds. Cheryl wants her readers to realize that even when faced with insurmountable, hopeless situations, even when life seems dark and uncertain, we should never let go of hope and appreciate the beauty and blessings that life has to offer, making the most of every day, loving, living, laughing, and learning. Seasons change, and there is always a rainbow after the storms of life.

About Cheryl Williams:
Cheryl Williams is a wife, mother, author, and nurse by profession, with a passion for the Arts.
Her love for poetry started at the tender age of five when she recited the poem "Grandfather Frog” for a school function. Six years later, her world was turned upside down after her mother suffered a massive stroke. During those uncertain times, music, writing, and poetry helped her cope.
As a teenager, whenever she wasn’t caring for her mother, Cheryl spent her free time writing and directing short plays as a form of entertainment for the children in her neighborhood.
She enjoyed singing in the church and school choir, while also performing publicly as a soloist in concerts and talent shows. As a result of her mother’s illness and her responsibility to help care for her, Cheryl was inspired to pursue nursing as a way to help others heal; the same way writing and music helped her find a path to healing. She resides in New York.
