The Best Christmas Books For 2021 - Living A Parable: Finding Lessons In Unlikely Experiences By Best Selling Author Silvia Davis

The new book serves as a devotional for women, a devotional for men and as a Bible study guide.

What makes for a great Holiday gift? For many of us, the answer would be a book. As Holiday gifts go, books are both thoughtful and unique, as they allow us to offer a form of experience for the reader. That experience, however, is generally short-lived, as the book, once read, can be rather quickly discarded or shelved. There is one kind of book that can be utilized year round - the devotional.

Unfortunately many of these books, while useful and informative, can fall prey to very dry or overused presentational styles, or become a bit boring, as the lessons offered have been around for thousands of years. Some devotionals and Bible study guides seem to parrot each other endlessly, and can thus lose their appeal.

Not so with Living A Parable by best-selling author Silvia Davis as, in her opinion, God can even use your annoying siblings to get His point across.

Devotion to God, scripture references to study from the Bible, and lessons rooted in the Word, are pretty much where the similarities between Living a Parable and most other devotionals end. There is no daily reading plan or several made-up analogies that are used to bring forth the truth. 'Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences', is rather a testimony to how God uses life to teach us. Composed of several short and entertaining stories, 'Living a Parable' is a compilation of real-world experiences from the author's life that will undoubtedly make you laugh and take you down your own memory lane.

If you pay attention and listen for God's voice, it becomes easier to see how He uses everyday experiences as opportunities for you to learn. Through an inspiring collection of life lessons, Silvia shares uplifting true stories and the powerful truths God has taught her through these stories. With spiritual wisdom, engaging devotionals, and encouraging parables, Living a Parable: Finding Lessons in Unlikely Experiences reveals the everyday lessons that God teaches us through our own life stories.

Silvia's accounts of growing up with her siblings will take you back to your childhood, and the lessons shared from what she's learned through marriage and parenting will inspire you as you follow along with included scripture references for Bible study and chapter-ending calls to action. We serve a patient and loving God. He is always teaching His children how to walk His path!

Readers and reviewers alike have praised 'Living A Parable'. BookLife Reviews, sponsored by Publishers Weekly, stated, "A nostalgic portrayal of a Black Christian family and a call to prioritize worship, this guide extols the virtue of active devotion."

Another said, ". . . Although the book is an easy read I found myself taking my time reading it. I wanted to let the authors words sink in. At times, I felt as if God was speaking to me through the words on the pages. We all go through things in our lives and the author has touched on many different trials in life that we all have gone through or are going through. This is definitely a book that I know I will find myself going back to over and over again." Another stated, " I found myself reading a chapter and putting the lesson in the context of my own life, seeing how God has worked in my and my experiences to teach me and others these lessons as well. It's an excellent read, and a wonderful way to be given more Bible knowledge."

The best Christian books help us hear the voice of God more clearly. 'Living A Parable' can serve as a Bible study guide and a devotional for both men and women, serving up a healthy dose of laughter while doing so.

Children's Books For Christmas - Author Sarah Klaiber's 'Treasures' Is A Gift To Be Passed Down To Future Generations

Klaiber's new book teaches kids and adults how good it feels to love and appreciate the treasures all around us.

The Holidays are a special time of year when we stop and take the time to look at all we have to be thankful for. We express our appreciation all that we have been given. Most of us exchange gifts at Christmas and our children are the primary focus of gift giving.

While some gifts last only a few weeks or month perhaps, before breaking or being pushed aside, some of those gifts fall into a different category. Nearly all of us recall receiving that special gift, that one of a kind heirloom gift that has been passed down from generation to generation. Award winning author Sarah Klaiber has created such a gift with her new children's book, 'Treasures'.

Many books have been written around the concept of positive thinking. However, to find the reason WHY we should be positive, we must look beyond our perceptions of everyday events. This goes beyond positive thinking to the realization that every happening - good, bad, ugly, sad - offers us the opportunity to find a hidden treasure. What is a treasure? A treasure is anything that has value. And every one of those treasures holds massive power. How do we do that? There are three simple steps - Stop. Look. Appreciate.

A child's mental health is all important. Our children face issues we have never faced. The mental health issue is particularly challenging, as today's kids must interact in a world in which social media (and the resulting cyberbullying) take center stage. This does not only affect children. Adults face many of the same issues.

"I wrote this book to remind children and adults to appreciate the small things, the things around them that are often taken for granted," Klaiber stated. "If we invite this message into our lives early on, the world could one day be a better place."

Thankfully, Sarah did not stop with publishing a book. She also created a blog where she presents all kinds of ideas in regards to learning how to stop, look and appreciate.

When asked about the mission of her blog, Sarah stated “It is important to think positively more often than most of us do. The opportunity to do so is always with us, not just when 'Treasures' is open. My blog gives this message value. It gives the opportunity to connect, comfort and allow gentle reminders into our unprioritized minds"

'Treasures' has received high praise from readers and reviewers. The book received a five star review from Readers Favorite. In that review, Barbara Fanson stated, "Treasures will remind children that they have a lot more valuable items in their life than they realize." Red City Review said, "The lesson offered is a crucial one, and parents will be sure to support the message that the book is trying to make." Another Amazon reviewer said, "Perfect book for keeping little ones grounded in this high tech, materialistic world." Great word choices tell what children (and everyone) value most. Excellent for grandparents' (and parents') snuggle time . . ."

Sarah Klaiber was recently featured on The Authors Show. She is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at sarahklaibertreasures@gmail.com. 'Treasures' is available at online retail book outlets. More information, including her blog, is available at her website at http://www.treasuresaroundus.com.

About Sarah Klaiber:

Writing was Sarah’s first love. Her creations started at a very young age with poetry and short stories. As time went on, her passion evolved into songwriting. Sarah enjoyed composing so much that she made plans to pursue it as a career after high school. She was offered a recording contract, but there was a better path in her future.

Creativity took a back seat as Sarah worked towards being the best wife and mother she could be. The music scene made a brief re appearance, but the experience was disappointing to say the least. After that, the pen stood still for quite some time.

From a very young age, Sarah also fought the silent battle of depression. It worsened in time and began to rob her and her family of the happy memories they deserved. Finally, she had enough. That was the day she began her journey to fight instead of give in. The result has been better days.

Sarah taught herself that, among other changes, taking time to find appreciation provides a better outlook and bring light to some darkness. The concept began with “Treasures,” the resurrection of her passion for writing. Today, she is proud to be the voice of someone who gets it, someone who still struggles but not ashamed to admit imperfections while trying to help others.

Christmas Books That Change Kid's Lives - Cindy C. Murray's 'The Adventures Of Sophie And Scottie' Action Adventure Trilogy Encourages Childhood Literacy

Murray utilizes girl power and science to promote literacy in Sophie And Scottie action adventure trilogy.

Most of us buy books, games and toys for our children for Christmas. Today, in the modern digital age, the sheer number of choices can easily overwhelm even the most selective parents. Nevertheless, there is a gift we can give to our kids that supercedes all others - the love of reading and the desire to learn.

Books can take children to entirely new levels of experience, opening their eyes to undiscovered, entirely new adventures, places and experiences. From the safety of home, they can explore to their heart's content and can be given the opportunity to ask questions, explore feelings or maybe just share a good laugh. If we can teach a child to learn to love reading, the simple joy of learning new things and the lure of unimagined ideas can become an endless quest that can vastly improve the quality of life for a child, regardless of circumstance, surroundings or station in life. That is no small gift.

Cindy C. Murray, award winning author of the Sophie and Scottie trilogy, uses the concept of girl power, combined with fascinating scientific concepts, to create wildly engaging works of action and adventure-based fiction that kids will find irresistible.

"My goal for this rated ‘G’ book series is to take my readers to new worlds and adventures without having to turn on a single electronic device!  A recent review by a grandmother of four expressed how excited she was to find creative books that are well written to share with her grand children.  I hear this over and over again by parents as well, which makes The Adventures of Sophie and Scottie a perfect series for ages 7 to 12 that encourages reading for a lifetime."

Murray also utilizes her award winning series of action adventure children's books to promote literacy and good citizenship. She is passionate about helping kids by sharing engaging and imaginative adventure stories with young readers. Her creative storytelling is inspired by her two daughters and by the childhood adventures she shared with her six siblings. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Cindy contributed her innovative marketing skills to several Fortune 500 companies until she made the choice to stay at home to raise her children - and to write children's books.

The Sophie and Scottie Series include three action adventure books: 'Adventures of the Monarch Mystery', 'Adventures of Something's Fishy' and 'Adventures of Sweet Tooth Rock'. The main characters, Sophie and Scottie, are 11 ½ year old twin sisters who live on a 10,000 acre sheep shearing ranch called Shear Heaven. The girls aren’t identical twins but have similar features. Their unique personalities complement each other as they share adventures and travel to exotic places.

Murray's work has won major industry awards. 'The Adventures of Sophie and Scottie Book Series' was awarded the 2017 Gold Family Choice Award. All of the books in the series have taken a Silver Mom's Choice Award. 'Sophie and Scottie's Adventures of the Monarch Mystery' won the 2016 International Book Awards Silver Medal in the Children-Adventure category, as well as qualifying as a 2015 Finalist from San Diego Book Awards for best published children's book.

Murray's upcoming author events include:

Carden Arbor View School, Upland, CA – October 27, 2017

'Sophie and Scottie's Adventures of the Monarch Mystery (The Adventures of Sophie and Scottie Book 1)' will also be listed in the Fussy Librarian's book listing on November 15, 2017.
