Children's book author Deanie Humphrys-Dunne has announced 'Tails of Sweetbrier' has received honorable mention in the Young Adult Nonfiction category of the Purple Dragonfly Book Awards. 

'Tails of Sweetbrier' is a true story of a little girl who dreams of becoming a champion horseback rider. But this child has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. The doctors say she will never be able to walk. What does her dad do?  He decides to teach her to ride horses.  But what might happen when things don't go well?  What happens when she falls off her horse?  Even if she prevails, she will need exactly the right horse so they can become a winning team.  This inspirational children's book shows young people that nothing is impossible if they don't quit.

Award Winning Children's Book Author Donna McDine Encourages Charity Book Donations

McDine is a very successful author of children's books who strives to ignite curiosity in children through reading. She strongly encourages all children's book authors to get involved in donating children's books to local charities

Numerous studies from both government and the private sector provide clear evidence that early reading skills are an investment in a child's future. Early reading skill development dramatically affects the quality of life for children as they grow into adulthood. Sadly, a recent article by Carole Dickerson on the Journal Standard website quoted a local social worker who stated that many of the parents in the homes she visits do not own a single children's book.

Award-winning children's book author Donna McDine finds that situation to be appalling. In response, she has announced that she will be donating books locally in the Tappan, NY area and intends to promote a children’s book charity drive within her community. “I’m extremely honored to be one of the finalists for the CLIPPA Awards in the third and fourth grade category," Deanie stated. "I am most grateful that the judges felt 'Tails of Sweetbrier' was worthy of this special recognition. I wrote this story so that children will know that perseverance is the key to success.
