Wichita Kansas Christian Devotional Author And Speaker Kristi Burchfiel Now Appearing On The Authors Show

Kristi Burchfiel is a Christian devotional author and speaker who believes in ‘living in the world while living out the word’. In her recent appearance on The Authors Show she discusses her newest work, ‘The Decay Within – A Study Of Amos’. Her show will run through April 30, 2013

Christian devotional author and speaker Kristi Burchfiel will appear on The Authors Show through April 30, 2013. In her interview she discusses one of her latest works, ‘The Decay Within – A Study Of Amos’.

Kristi writes applicable Bible Studies. Her works include ‘Without Regrets: A Study Of Ecclesiastes’ and an ebook series entitled ‘The Daily Devotional Series’. Several years ago, God led Kristi Burchfiel through some difficult times in her personal life. Only by studying the truths found in the Bible did she find the answers she needed to get her life back on track.  She now works daily to continue putting those truths into practice.  She is passionate about studying the Bible and invites others to share in the peace of God through the truths found in God’s word. As a Christian devotional author, she believes in living in the world while living out the Word.

“As a Christian devotional author,” Burchfiel stated, “I am passionate about writing online devotions and bible studies for women and men. A Christian devotional is more than just words on a page, and more than reading through Bible study topics. A true Christian devotional takes bible study topics and bible tools and looks at the truths found in God’s word and then shows people how to apply those truths to their life. Just knowing the word of God is not enough - we must live it out.”

In addition to writing Christian devotionals, Kristi speaks on a variety of different topics including sections from her Bible study books, devotionals, life lessons, personal testimony and the book publishing process. She has been the keynote speaker for women's conferences, led workshops during all day events, and delivered the message in worship services and Sunday School classes. She has also spoken with literacy groups and has appeared numerous times in interviews for websites, radio, and television. She also provides an online devotional for the day and other Bible tools.

“Personally,” Burchfiel continued,  “I like to have something to learn and focus on each day, but I can’t always remember multiple points. This is why having a devotional for the day is so important to me and why I write online devotionals for women and men. I want to help people to take time to study God’s Word, even if it’s only briefly, so they can have a truth they can focus on for the day.”

A recent Amazon review stated, “In this study, author Kristi Burchfiel does an excellent job of taking the past and bringing it home to the present. She carefully and thoughtfully takes you through the entire book of Amos providing both insight and wisdom in terms that are simple and easy to follow. In addition, she also provides probing thoughts and questions that help you dig deep from within and hopefully, bring application for the here and now.”

Kristi Burchfiel is available for media interviews and speaking engagements. She can be reached using the information below, or by email at k_burchfiel@yahoo.com. More information is available at her website. All Kristi’s books, Christian devotionals, Bible studies for men and women and ebooks are available at Amazon.com and at her website.

Florida Author Walter Ramsay Releases New Novel, 'Coastal Access', Murder Mystery Featuring Investigative Journalist Tucker Lee Anderson

Walter Ramsay’s new book is a murder mystery novel that is steeped in mystery, suspense, graft, greed, Florida history and shady real estate schemes, all blended deftly with humor. The new book features sports writer turned investigative journalist Tucker Lee Anderson

Florida Author Walter Ramsay has released ‘Coastal Access’. ‘Coastal Access’ is a murder mystery set in Florida. The book is set apart and defined by its emphasis on local Florida history and includes elements of mystery, suspense, graft, greed and shady real estate schemes hatched by high ranking officials. 'Coastal Access' brings back Ramsay's popular character from ‘Beneath The Dune’, sports writer turned investigative journalist Tucker Lee Anderson.

"I wrote this book," stated Mr. Ramsay, "for the pure enjoyment of my fans. After the success of Beneath The Dune, many readers wanted me to continue with the Magnum P.I. like character, Tucker Lee Anderson. I enjoy incorporating 'real' locations into my novel that people can recognize. Even though the characters are fictitious, the locations are real and people can identify and relate to the locations. History of the selected areas is also authentic."

"Coastal Access concerns the area of Florida that 'time forgot'. Many people are familiar with the so called waste land that lies west of Interstate 95 through Central Florida, but seldom pay little attention too. I have decided to raise the question, "what if...?" with regards to those millions of acres. The story is VERY relevant to concerns many people have about our future and what could eventually happen to this virgin land if it fell into the hands of unscrupulous people."

In Florida, Interstate 95 snakes from the Georgia state line to Miami in an uninterrupted run of coastal cities. The country that lies west of the interstate however is often referred to as a wasteland, a no-man’s territory fit only for those who can stand the dank heat of a swamp. So when Judge Arnold Galley and his consortium seem intent on acquiring over a million and a half acres of this fetid real estate just west of the highway, many heads begin to turn. Why does he want it so bad?

That question intrigues Tucker Lee Anderson, a divorced sports reporter down on his luck. Not long after his discovery of the judge’s prodigious real estate lust, he finds himself plunged into the middle of a massive murder cover-up that involves the magistrate as well. Suddenly, the sports scribe has turned into an undercover investigative reporter who must piece together the puzzle to find out why so many people want or need the judge’s coastal access.

The mystery’s roots are deep and old. To crack the case, Tucker will have to draw on the knowledge contained in his family’s Deep Southern lineage, which dates back to a time before the Civil War. He is aided in his quest by Craig, a detective and childhood friend, whose law enforcement connections will prove invaluable for his investigation and even for his own personal safety.

Yet Tucker’s most startling source of help is a mysterious stranger named Doug. After being presumed dead for decades, he has returned to Florida for unexplained reasons. Eventually, Tucker will find that Doug plays an unexpectedly large role in his life and will let him understand how his fate is intimately tied to the real estate greed of the judge’s consortium.

‘Coastal Access’ is available through most Internet book outlets. . Walter Ramsay is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at penabeachpress@gmail.com. More information is available at Mr. Ramsay's website.

Profile:

As a long time teacher and coach in New Jersey, Walter praises public education and the dynamic students it produces.  When not at the Jersey Shore, Walter is a part time resident of the Central Florida coast.  He became enamored with the beauty, culture, and people of this pristine area over 30 years ago, and still can't get enough.  He has vigilantly taken the time to delve into the history of this beautiful coastline and incorporated that background into his writings.

Walter spent much of his earlier years traveling the Florida coast from Saint Augustine to Key West from his father's home in Daytona Beach.

Jerry Sandusky And Monsignor Lynn Found Guilty - Author Jeanne McElvaney Offers An Insightful Journey Into The World Of Childhood Sexual Abuse

Jeanne McElvaney is the author of 'Spirit Unbroken: Abby's Story', an insightful journey into the world of childhood sexual abuse and dissociated trauma memories. McElvaney believes these latest high profile trials should not be seen from the perspective of shame, but instead should be seen as healing in nature

It’s only been thirty years since Judith Herman's newly published book labeled sexual abuse a crime, challenging social belief that it was harmless. Survivors began telling their stories. For the first time in history, social attitudes began supporting the victims of perpetrators.

Jerry Sandusky's recent conviction for child abuse and Monsignor Lynn’s conviction for child endangerment are another step in the right direction if we want to stop a crime that thrives in secrecy and silence. Jeanne McElvaney's book, 'Spirit Unbroken: Abby's Story', gives us a powerful glimpse of child abuse - from the victim's perspective.

"It’s easy to forget," Jeanne McElvaney stated, "that sexual abuse is about disempowering the victim. Sex is the weapon. As the young adults in the Sandusky trial came forward to testify, they had to overcome the shame that is inherent in this kind of abuse. They not only gave evidence, they placed the shame where it belongs."

Rape was not considered a crime in all 50 states until the 1970’s, after The National Organization for Women (NOW) initiated rape reform legislation. By the late 70’s most mental health professionals were still unwilling to question old assumptions that child sexual abuse was rare and seductive children were the problem. Sandra Butler's book, 'Conspiracy of Silence', brought credibility to these issues. Louise Armstrong wrote, 'Kiss Daddy Goodnight', and broke the silence of survivors. 'Spirit Unbroken: Abby's Story' is a gripping and powerful story that turns the world upside down, as readers witness innocence celebrated and violated. The book has been called a 'tremendous contribution to childhood trauma literature.' The book is currently listed as a Finalist by Readers Favorite in the Women's Fiction category.

"I wrote 'Spirit Unbroken: Abby's Story' because I wanted to take the reader on a journey of insight," McElvaney continued, "so they could understand dissociated trauma memories - how they pull a person out of everyday reality so that person can survive the moment. I wanted readers to know how our minds work to protect us, but also leaves us with memories we can't recall even though they continue driving our choices, feelings, and beliefs."

A recent reviewer and therapist stated 'Spirit Unbroken' is "a resource as much as it is a novel. Dry, academic explanations of this condition are unable to touch the complex, nostalgic, and deeply moving way this author has been able to take the reader directly into the depths of this state of mind."

"I also hope to create awareness," McElvaney continued, "that abusers, as we have recently seen, are not one-dimensional bad guys. They are not strangers - 90% are someone the child and family know. 1of 4 women and 1 of 6 men are survivors of sexual abuse - that's 39 million of us."

Jeanne McElvaney is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at jeanne@gotospirit.com. 'Spirit Unbroken: Abby's Story' is available at Amazon.com and at her website. More information on all of Jeanne McElvaney's books is available at the site.
