US Military In Australia: Acclaimed Author And Islamic Terrorism Consultant Tony Attanasio Releases Statement On Weakening US Military

According to sources quoted in the media, the US military presence in Northern Australia means US Marines are returning to their role as 'ambassadors'. Attanasio believes that may not be enough

Brig. Gen. Richard Simcock, deputy commander of Marine Corps Forces Pacific recently stated that the Australian government has opened the door for a force of 1,100 US Marines to rotate in Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory beginning next summer.  According to other news sources Marine Maj. Maurice Brown said the gradual end of the war in Afghanistan means Marines are going back to traditional roles as 'ambassadors' and coming into the Pacific to take advantage of training opportunities.

"Why Australia - are there other unforeseen and underlying motives?" asked Attanasio, "as we know that President Obama did state some time back that the US needs to make 'a presence' in the Pacific area. Is the truth behind this move based on China’s decades long ambition to take Taiwan back - a country they consider a province of mainland China? Is this so called strategic move based on the ranting and raves of North Korea? Or all of the above?"

"China," Attanasio continued, "has stated that by 2020, they are doubling their fleet and that includes naval infantry. Will they be concerned with a battalion of Marines stationed in the northern territories of Australia? Russia has beefed up the Russian military and has broken several agreements with the US and NATO. What about the behemoth North Korean and Iranian military?"

"President Obama recently cut Army brigades and mothballed Navy ships. The longtime plan is to cut the size of the service by 80,000. We do not have the military we once had prior to 2009. This could go downhill and fast. It would take just one incident. Obviously our "token" forces do not strike fear into the heart of our so-called enemies. Remember World War I? One bullet lead to a world conflict. Remember World War II? Dunkirk? The old adage that history repeats itself?  Comparing events taking place today on our shaky globe reminds me of 1939 – an evil storm followed."

“Another problem arises - if we were thrown into another world conflict, the Draft would have to return. 40% of our young draft age males are physically and mentally unable to fit the role of a soldier. Another 25% stated that they would refuse to go.  This to the embarrassment of the American people would further danger our existing military as well as place the United States in harm's way. This is not the youth of the Great generation. This is the ‘what is good for me’ generation."

He is currently teaching at a major SE Florida college and is currently researching his next book, ‘The Silent Crescent’ (The focus is on women in Islam.)

“All branches of our military,” Attanasio continued, “have been cut to the bone. Does President Obama believe that the presence of a few thousand Marines in Australia, or for that matter 300 Marines on the Syrian/Jordanian border, will strike fear into the hearts of the enemy? Iran has countered this move with 4000 Revolutionary Guard and Me. Putin has sent 600 Russian Marines on two warships to the coastal waters of Syria. It should be obvious to President Obama that neither Iran nor Russia wants a radical Sunni presence in Syria. Both are not happy with President Obama's continued support of the Sunni rebels, particularly al-Nusra; the al -Qaeda faction."
