Science fiction author Daniel P. Douglas announced his debut science fiction novel, 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project', has been recognized as a finalist in the 17th annual Foreword Reviews’ INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards. Each year, Foreword Reviews shines a light on a select group of indie publishers, university presses, and self-published authors whose work stands out from the crowd. In the next three months, a panel of more than 100 volunteer librarians and booksellers will determine the winners in 63 categories based on their experience with readers and patrons.
“The recognition as a science fiction finalist is a great honor,” Douglas said, “As an author, I feel obligated to write high-quality, meaningful, and engaging stories, ones that also inspire a bond between the reader and my characters. Being named an awards finalist reassures me that I made good on those obligations in 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project'.”
Douglas is a multi-genre author who turns ordinary people into extraordinary heroes. Douglas creates the most unlikely of heroes and calls upon them to join extraordinary and mysterious struggles. His characters' sometimes-reluctant choices and actions put them on a collision course with destiny and reveal unimaginable truths. In every pulse pounding, edge-of-your-seat adventure, survival means confronting personal flaws and doubts, and forging unexpected fates as inspiring new champions in the eternal battle against evil.
In 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project', readers plunge into a suspenseful science fiction conspiracy thriller featuring former FBI agent William Harrison – a reluctant yet admirable hero, who finds himself hot on the trail of a major extraterrestrial cover-up.
Douglas' science fiction novel walks a razors edge between science fiction and real world facts. UFO cover-ups and the resulting UFO conspiracy theories make headlines almost every day. Even high-level government officials such as John Podesta are calling for disclosure and truth regarding UFOs after decades of government cover-ups. Recently President Obama jokingly stated on Jimmy Kimmel Live that aliens control the secrecy surrounding UFO's. Former Canadian Defense Minister Paul Hellyer has asserted that extraterrestrials reside at Nellis Air Force Base. In 2012 Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev stated that Russian Presidents are briefed on extraterrestrials living among us. The truth about aliens and UFO activity has never been revealed. All of these kinds of real world situations lend credibility to, and create awareness around the issues Douglas addresses in his latest work.
Foreword Reviews will celebrate the winners of the 2014 INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards during a program at the American Library Association Annual Conference in San Francisco on Friday, June 26 at 6 p.m. at the Pop Top Stage in the exhibit hall. Everyone is welcome. The Editor’s Choice Prize for Fiction, Nonfiction, and Foreword Reviews’ 2014 INDIEFAB Publisher of the Year Award will also be announced during the presentation.
“After 17 years, our awards program has become synonymous with quality because our editors set such a high bar on the finalist round, which makes it especially tough for the judges who select the winners,” said Victoria Sutherland, publisher of Foreword Reviews. “In every genre, our judges will find an interesting, high-quality selection of books culled from this year’s entries.”
