A highly sought Keynote Speaker and Business Leadership Trainer, Romanella is founder and principal of 3SIXTY Management Services, LLC. He has over 40 years of leadership at Fortune 100's and most recently served as Chief Executive Officer and Director for UniTek Global Services, after retiring from a 36-year career with UPS.
Simple ideas can hold tremendous power. We often find that the most profound concepts begin with a mere passing thought or moment of contemplation. Albert Einstein claimed that a simple idea – the fact that a person falling freely would not feel his own weight – impelled him to develop his theory of gravity. This is but one example of a seemingly simple idea that eventually morphed into one of those all-important, transformative "aha moments” that changed the course of science forever. Rocky Romanella, founder and principal of 3SIXTY Management services, experienced an aha moment during his childhood that helped him, as an adult leader, transform a simple idea into a concept that holds the power to revolutionize any company or organization.
"When I was a child," Romanella stated, "I had the opportunity to visit the Hershey Chocolate Factory in Hershey, PA. In those days, you toured the factory. The Hershey factory under glass. It was amazing to see all that chocolate…up close…my taste buds ablaze.
"Little did I know that this amazing childhood experience would leave such an impression on me and create my aha moment. It happened years after touring the factory and seeing the chocolate being made by hard-working local people from beginning to end. Thus, the seed of a simple idea was planted.
"As an adult and leader, as I walked around the UPS facility I managed, I realized the confidence the Hershey organization had to have in their people and processes as thousands of customers walked through their factory while they made their famous chocolate bars. That idea took hold.
"I asked myself, could my customers walk through my facility, unannounced? And if so, would they ever use our services again?
"Based on that moment and from that moment forward, I challenged myself and my people to run their own Hershey factories. The idea evolved into a goal –to be as confident in my people and my operations as Hershey was in theirs. By doing so, our customers would enjoy the same experience in one of our facilities – confident and excited to see their products in our hands. As a leader, regardless of your area of responsibility, you must run your own operation with that same level of care."
In Romanella's Business Leadership Book, 'Tighten the Lug Nuts: The Principles of Balanced Leadership', he uses his Executive Business Leadership experiences to explore the ways a true leader can add value as a trusted advisor, mentor, and visionary who uses a process approach to lead the organization and its people to new levels of success.
In an engaging, personal, and witty style, Romanella details his Balanced Leadership approach, which details how to give your three major constituents equal priority in your decision making process through actively listening to their needs and building strong relationships. By following the steps Romanella lays out, readers can truly learn the importance of Balanced Leadership.
