Humphrys-Dunne writes captivating books that teach children life lessons. ‘Tails of Sweetbrier’ took the Silver Medal in the 2014 Awards Program in the Juvenile/YA Nonfiction category
Author Deanie Humphrys-Dunne has taken the Silver Medal in the Feathered Quill Book Awards in the Juvenile/YA Nonfiction category for ‘Tails of Sweetbrier’.
‘Tails of Sweetbrier’ is a true story about a little girl who dreams of becoming a champion horseback rider. Deanie was born with a handicap, which made walking difficult. When doctors say she will never be able to walk, her dad decides to teach her to ride horses. This inspirational story shows children that nothing is impossible “if you don’t quit.”
“I’m honored,” Deanie stated, “that my children’s non-fiction book, ‘Tails of Sweetbrier’ received the Silver Medal in the Feathered Quill Annual Writer’s Contest. It was my first experience with entering a contest, so you can imagine how thrilled I was to receive this award. I can honestly say this is a dream come true for me.”
Deanie believes the message that perseverance is the key to accomplishing amazing things is one that can benefit every child. Through her inspiring, real life and fictional works, children will learn that anything is possible if they refuse to give up on their dreams. Through her works, children are reminded that tenacity is the key to success. They will see proof that obstacles can be overcome and that quitting only guarantees failure.
Deanie wants to be a positive influence to children. She loves to write entertaining stories that emphasize important values such as; never giving up, setting goals, and working together to realize great things. Her objective is to write books that build self-esteem and confidence in children. She works tirelessly to write books that would appeal to children and also teach them valuable lessons, presented in an engaging manner. Other books written by Deanie include ‘Charlene The Star’, ‘Charlene The Star And Hattie's Heroes’ and ‘Charlie The Horse’.
“Young readers,” Deanie continued, “will enjoy ‘Tails of Sweetbrier’ because it’s full of exciting experiences from my childhood. They will find out what decision my dad made that changed my whole life. The story is proof that all things are possible, if they follow their dreams and refuse to quit. Children will be encouraged because they will realize that they can succeed, even against the odds.”
One reviewer stated, “. . .Deanie Humphrys-Dunne encourages discipline, high self-esteem, and a positive attitude throughout this compelling story. The author motivates children to overcome their fears, achieve their goals, and follow their dreams. ‘Tails Of Sweetbrier’ tugs at the heart, is as captivating as ‘Radio’ and as inspiring as ‘Forrest Gump' . . .’

Inspirational Stories Help Kids Overcome Challenges: Emeka Iwenofu, Author Of ‘Francine’s Miracle’, Issues Statement
A recent article in the Lethbridge Herald recounted the tale of Spencer West, a motivational speaker who overcame challenges beyond belief. Iwenofu believes West's story can serve as an example to children everywhere
A recent article by Nick Kuhl in the Lethbridge Herald presented the story of Spencer West. After losing his legs early in life, West overcame not only that challenge, but also went on to conquer obstacles that would challenge the fully functional, including overcoming bullying as a result of his disability and, unbelievably, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. While the challenges that face young people today do include bullying among many others, what is really important is the message West delivers to the world: Anybody can overcome any challenge, given the right mental focus, perception and attitude.
"I wholeheartedly admire this person and his story," Iwenofu stated. "Everything we do is based on attitude. And as I explained in my book, ‘Francine's Miracle’, we have a choice everyday of how we want to feel, - angry and bitter, having every excuse for our miserable condition... or we can just smile, believing and knowing that everything is going to be just fine and work to our advantage."
"Everything is energy and the universe formulates situations, people, and circumstances into our lives to produce the outcome in our life that is all relative to our own thoughts and attitude. In this article, West, who has no legs and moves around in a wheelchair is a motivational speaker who decides everyday to be joyous for the day, rather than focus on his handicap. When he was born he was told to focus on the things he can do rather than the things he couldn't and to always have a good attitude about it. West has taken their advice and is a motivational speaker, living his life to fullest, believing and knowing that nothing is impossible."
"It's all in the perception and how we choose to direct our energy and attention. This does make me question how some people can make a big deal over a trivial challenge when someone else would take that challenge any day if they could, for one moment, know what walking feels like. We should appreciate what we have, as there is always someone who is lacking in that area."
In the tradition of his mentors, Og Mandino, Anthony Robbins, Napoleon Hill and Wayne Dyer, Emeka Iwenofu teaches young readers, through engaging works of fiction how to achieve their life goals despite limitations or challenges.
’Francine’s Miracle’ features miraculous stories that teach young people how to achieve their dreams. Parents will appreciate the book as it empowers parents and grandparents to help children achieve their goals. Educators will find the messages in 'Francine's Miracle' to be uplifting, inspiring, appropriate for class projects and a powerful teaching tool. Children will find the book to be a down to earth, honest, entertaining tale that will allow them to see a troubled person’s success story unfold step by step.
“Parents, grandparents, children and teachers will enjoy this book” Iwenofu continued, “because the message is presented in story form - as an indirect guide to the reader on how they can achieve their goals regardless of their current situation that they, their family members or students are in. My work demonstrates how anyone can still triumph to ultimate glory and greatness, regardless of their current status in life or in the classroom.”

Olympic Injuries Demonstrate The Need For Spinal Cord Injury Awareness And Increased Support
Spinal cord injury is one of the most debilitating forms of injury, affecting 1.25 million Americans. While technology advances at a record pace, funding for research is now being cut. Many of those affected can only hope. Gabriel Cordell is one of those people. His inspiring story appears in 'Tales2Inspire - The Topaz Collection'
During qualifying at the Sochi Olympics two women snowboarders were carried off the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park course on stretchers following crashes. The crashes came one day after Russian skicross racer Maria Komissrova suffered a serious spinal injury during a crash on the same slope. These events have served to bring spinal cord injuries to the forefront of our consciousness, and to demonstrate the need for more research and support systems for those affected.
Spinal cord injury affects 1.25 million Americans. The aftermath of such injuries can be horrific, sometimes resulting in total paralysis. Gabriel Cordell suffered such an injury as the result of an auto accident. Whereas some people might simply give up, Gabriel instead found the courage to demonstrate the indomitable nature of the human spirit. His tale, one of many inspiring stories found in Tales2Inspire ~ The Topaz Collection (Stories of Awakenings & Aha Moments), and recounted by Lois W. Stern, is titled 'Roll of a Lifetime’. Gabriel takes on this new challenge by rolling across America in a non-motorized wheelchair. His personal awakening came as a result of the inspiration and support he received from those who stood by to cheer him on.
"Reading about the spinal injuries incurred by participants in the 2014 Olympic skiing events brings back memories of my story about Gabriel Cordell,” said author Lois W. Stern. “At first Gabriel thought this challenge was all about him - a way to validate himself as a man and give his parents that moment of pride in his accomplishments. But one week into the 'Roll', he came face to face with his 'Awakenings' moment, suddenly recognizing that this trip was not about him, but about a way to inspire others to be better and do better with their lives. While we remain hopeful that none of the Olympic participants incur permanent spinal injuries, Gabriel’s story reminds us that even those who face extreme physical challenges can find alternate paths to fulfillment.”
'Tales2Inspire' is a growing collection of anthologies of varied themes, with each book containing a compilation of stories filled with uplifting, inspiring messages. Stern has authored some of these stories herself, but most come from winners of her annual ‘Tales2Inspire’ contest.
"Because each of the stories included in any of the Tales2Inspire™ collections is selected for its inspirational value, these books make ideal gifts for both those seeking a simple pick-me-up as well as those looking for uplifting, motivational messages presented in a very powerful way. Their appeal is not just for people with major injuries or illnesses - it could be for anybody - from a hospital patient who needs a major lift in spirits to those just wanting a good read with embedded ‘feel good’ messages."
In a recent review of ‘Tales2Inspire’, Bernie Siegel, MD, author of ‘A Book Of Miracles’ and ‘365 Prescriptions for the Soul' stated, “This is a book with a heart. Filled with stories which reveal what happens when we choose to live in a way that is life enhancing for all God's creatures. Our potential is miraculous when we choose to inspire the vapor of love. The people in these stories have always been my teachers. Read and learn the lessons of life.”
Inspiring stories can be found everywhere. Stern continually seeks submissions by talented writers. Their Inspirational stories are judged by a peer group to determine eligibility for publication. There are no fees to submit for consideration, and winning authors receive many no-charge platform-building opportunities. Current submission categories include the themes ‘Gifts of Compassion’ and ‘Echoes In the Mind’. Categories for future consideration are continually updated on the Tales2inspire website.
Lois W. Stern is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at tales2inspire@optimum.net. ‘Tales2Inspire’ is available at Amazon and other online retailers. More information is available at the website at http://www.tales2inspire.com.
Profile:
After twenty years as an active educator, Lois W. Stern continued to pursue her love for writing, and soon became co-editor of the then popular Long Island web-zine, LI EYE.
As she created and authored the column ‘Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives’, she solidified her special niche as an investigative journalist and put those same talents to work in ‘Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery’ while interviewing over one hundred women about some of the most intimate, provocative aspects of their lives. Shortly thereafter, Lois followed up with her second book, ‘Tick Tock, Stop the Clock – Getting Pretty on Your Lunch Hour’, as a means of helping to make affordable, less invasive forms of ageless beauty a reality for many women. Lois explains that she particularly enjoys the experience of getting to know each of her interview subjects as unique individuals. “There are some qualities one can't fake,” says Lois, who firmly believes that much of her success as an author is due to her personal touch: her ability to develop sincere relationships, unique story angles, and skilled human-based presentations.
More than a creation, ‘Tales2Inspire’ has become a passion, to which Lois dedicates over 100 hours per week. She has published the first two of these inspiring story anthologies: Tales2Inspire ~ The Emerald Collection (‘Beyond Coincidence’ stories) and Tales2Inspire ~ The Topaz Collection (stories of Awakenings & Aha Moments). Her goal is to continue to publish more winning inspirational stories in a series of short gift book collections with the name of each author credited for their story.

'Tiger Mom’ And The Cultural Success Furor: Emeka Iwenofu, Author Of ‘Francine’s Miracle’, Issues Statement
'Battle Hymn Of The Tiger Mother’ has caused a heated discussion in regards to what makes for success in America. Iwenofu believes that hard work and focus can overcome any challenge, regardless of other factors
A recent article by Alicia W. Stewart posted on the CNN website entitled “‘Triple Package’: Controversial book outlines ‘unlikely’ traits of success” brings the discussion about success and cultural groups back into the spotlight. At the heart of the controversy is a book, ‘The Triple Package: How Three Unlikely Traits Explain The Rise and Fall of Cultural Groups In America’, by authors Amy Chua and Jed Rubenfeld. The article presents an interview with the authors of the book. Emeka Iwenofu, author of ‘Francines Miracle’, an inspirational book written for young people, believes many people miss a very important point.
"I believe," Iwenofu stated, "that success is something that we all can acquire provided we have a goal, meaning we know clearly what we want, and are willing to work towards achieving that goal on a consistent basis without distraction. I would agree that the Chinese and other Asian countries practice a more disciplined approach where hard work, focus, and determination is strongly embedded in their subconscious mind since it's something that's taught to them, compared to the majority of Americans. But I wouldn't say that those traits are something that they're just born with. Rather, they're traits that are learned and applied which anyone can do accordingly or not do."
“In fact, in the classic book, ‘Outwitting the Devil’, Napoleon Hill wrote back in 1937 that most sons of titans of industry seldom ever outperform the levels of their fathers who worked towards acquiring a fortune. Why? Because according to Napoleon, such children have been stripped from the privilege of struggle or work and therefore live off their inheritance without really appreciating it. I also will state that from the book, ‘The Science of Being Great’, by Wallace Wattles, that man's fate in life is never governed by his education, background, or family tree. A man's fate in life is all governed by his own thinking. Therefore, whatever he inserts in his mind is what he gets out in life.”
“Parents, grandparents, children and teachers will enjoy this book” Iwenofu continued, “because it is displayed in a story form - as an indirect guide to the reader on how they can achieve their goals regardless of their current situation that they, their family members or students are in. My work demonstrates how anyone can still triumph to ultimate glory and greatness, regardless of their current status in life or in the classroom.”

A.W. Daniels, Author of 'Genetically Privileged' Announces New Review By Midwest Book Review
Daniels is the author of two fiction novels that address the issue of genetic engineering. Daniels believes the implications of genetic engineering, both now and in the future, are staggering
A. W. Daniels, author of two highly praised, insightful books about genetic engineering, recently announced another positive review for his most recent work, 'Genetically Conflicted', this time from Midwest Book Review.
Midwest Book Review stated, "The sequel to A. W. Daniels' science fiction thriller 'Genetically Privileged' , 'Genetically Conflicted', continues to demonstrate Daniel's narrative storytelling skills as he expands on his complexly woven world of the future. A solid entertainment from beginning to end, 'Genetically Conflicted' is very highly recommended reading for all science fiction enthusiasts."
"I feel literally privileged," Daniels stated, "to have received such a complimentary review by such a well established organization like Midwest Book Review. Promoting literacy is just one of the goals Midwest Book Review strives for in its efforts with writers, publishers and libraries. Their unbiased approach is exemplified by not requiring payment in order to avoid any conflicts of interest. Receiving a ‘Very Highly Recommended’ review by Midwest Book Review would be flattering to an author of any genre."
The future benefits and challenges of genetic engineering, as well as the social implications, are subjects addressed in two novels by Daniels, the first entitled 'Genetically Privileged', and the second, now in release, entitled 'Genetically Conflicted'.
In the storyline of 'Genetically Privileged', nature disappoints a young couple's aspirations of parenthood. They turn to a series of fertility experts and finally an old friend. Their friend, as it turns out, has been modifying the human genome for a government project and the couple becomes entangled in a web of deceit. ‘Genetically Privileged’ is a socially relevant read, addressing the advancements of technology and science as Daniels speculates on the social impact of those developments.
In ‘Genetically Conflicted’, the seemingly idyllic world of the genetically engineered students from ‘Genetically Privileged’ is shattered as they are confronted by a foe bent on destroying not only their lifestyle but also those responsible for their very existence. The students learn quickly that theirs is not the only reality on this planet as they find themselves in a fight for survival against an enemy that insist upon unconditional compliance in return for their lives. These demands become increasingly complex as the students find their adversaries to be from the same family tree as their own. The students are still as charming as they were in the first edition; they’ve just learned to become more lethal.
‘Genetically Privileged’ has also received numerous favorable reviews. Midwest Book Review stated, "Genetically Privileged is an insightful spin of science fiction exploring genetic engineering, recommended." Kirkus Review stated, "Daniels skillfully develops a sense of threat. An inventive, intriguing novel. Animated plot and thoughtful questions posed about genetic manipulation.”
A.W. Daniels is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at aw.daniels@yahoo.com. Both books are available at Amazon, Smashwords and CreateSpace. More information is available at Daniels' website at http://www.AWDaniels.net.
About A. W. Daniels:
‘Genetically Privileged’ and 'Genetically Conflicted' are the first two offerings in a series of works by A. W. Daniels. The author's ability to craft compelling stories has been honed by extensive travel and observation of the human nature. This allows Mr. Daniels to weave a tapestry that colorfully, and sometimes bluntly, exposes the good and evil humankind inflicts on each other daily.

Valentine's Day For Divorced Women - Positive Psychologist Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein Offers Tips
As a Positive Psychologist and author of a romance novel entitled 'Around Every Corner, Romance & Mystery . . .', Dr. Holstein believes it is important for divorced women to put themselves first and to develop and utilize their own unique talents
A recent article on the Chicago Tribune's website entitled "Coping with Valentine's Day without a Valentine" offered a number of tips to help those who are divorced get through Valentine's Day with a minimum of stress. This is important, as a huge percentage of women are divorced. While Valentine's Day can cause one's stress level to rise and bring back feeling of loss and grief, Dr. Holstein believes it is important to instead see Valentine's Day as an opportunity to take steps forward, rather than looking backward to the past. She suggests some further ideas that a divorced woman can do for herself on Valentine's Day and every day, so that life has less pain and more pleasure.
"Believe it or not," Dr. Holstein stated, "one of the gifts of divorce is often a chance for a woman to come home to herself, emotionally and developing her true potential. When we are part of a couple, we merge ourselves on many levels. For many women that means giving into what our man likes to do and what his needs are. Fine, within reason in a great relationship, but this tendency to 'take me, I'm yours' can often lead to a woman not fully developing herself."
"Now with divorce, a woman has the opportunity to put herself first. She has the time to really get to know herself. She is well advised to work on answering the following questions:"
What do you like to do?
What do you not want to do ever again?
What gives you pleasure?
What annoys you?
What interests do you have or want to develop?
What were your passions and interests before you were married or in what seemed to be a permanent relationship?
Can you take any of them back?
When are you happiest?
"These questions may not be so easy to answer, but as she gets going with them she will see something wonderful happening. She will begin to see herself returning in full bloom. The girl, the young woman that she was, the woman that she is now, without the stress and burden of a relationship that was not working, now will be able to continue to develop and utilize her special talents and potential."
Dr. Holstein even has an assignment to make Valentine's Day for the divorced go more smoothly. "Do three things for yourself on Valentine's Day. Not what your ex would have picked. I want you to decide is right for you. You may want to get together with some girlfriends and eat chocolates as you watch some favorite reruns. You may want to treat yourself to a massage, or a facial. Maybe you want to sit on your bed and read a new romance novel. Whatever you choose, make sure it is your choice as you come home to yourself!"
Dr. Holstein is a prolific writer who crosses genres with ease. Dr. Holstein's book for teens and tweens, ‘The Truth, (I’m a girl, I’m Smart and I Know Everything)’ is a first in using fiction for positive psychology. It is a fictional diary for girls, tweens and teens. Written by an 11 year old girl as a diary, Dr. Barbara has embedded within the story positive truths and concepts geared to help girls develop self-esteem and resiliency. Sky Pony Press will be publishing The Truth in the summer of 2014.
Her second book in The Truth Series is 'Secrets: You Tell Me Yours and I’ll Tell You Mine…Maybe!’ Now the girl is 13. She handles many adolescent issues, including a crush, moving, a death in the family, feeling fat and problems with girlfriends. 'Secrets' provides a book kids and parents and grandparents can share and use as a sounding board for needed communication between the generations.
Both 'The Truth' and 'Secrets' are great for grandparents, older siblings and teachers to establish lines of communication with the tweens in their lives. Both books will be re-released by Sky Pony Press.
Dr. Holstein believes that getting in touch with your strengths, talents and potential at every age, as well as learning how to hold on to the wise, playful, happy, gutsy and energetic girl that still resides within each woman is essential for mental health.
To assist this process she has written many books, including: case study material as presented in The Enchanted Self, A Positive Therapy; inspirational stories as presented in Recipes for Enchantment, The Secret Ingredient is YOU! and romance, mystery books designed to bring fun, excitement, romance and positive psychological truths into women's lives. Latest books are: Parts 1 and 2 of Next Year in Jerusalem! available in paper and as e-books; Parts 1,2 and 3 of Next Year in Jerusalem! are now available, incorporated into Around Every Corner on Kindle.
In addition to running a thriving practice, Dr. Holstein is a very successful author. She is available for media interview and can be reached using the information below or by email at drbarbara@enchantedself.com. All of her works are available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and all other online retailers. More information is available at her website at http://www.NewRomanceBooks.com.

Author RG Bud Phelps Chosen As One Of '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'
Phelps was chosen as the result of a public voting process. His work, entitled ‘Back In The Day’, is the second book in his ‘life series’ which started with "Gibbon's Secrets," and covers the ten year period from 1945 to 1955
RG Bud Phelps, author of ‘Back In The Day’, has been chosen as one of ‘50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading’. The contest was sponsored by The Authors Show. ‘Back In The Day’ is the second installment in Phelps’ ‘life series’. Phelps was also a winner in the 2012 ‘50 Great Authors You Should be Reading’ for his book ‘Gibbon's Secrets - A Boy's Memories of the 40's’.
“I am proud,” Phelps stated, “to be a 2013 winner in '50 Great Authors You Should be Reading'. 'Back in the Day' parallels my memories from high school through my service in the U.S. Navy, and represents the memories and experiences of thousands of Americans who grew up in the same era.”
In the book series, Phelps shares a young man's historical fiction experiences throughout high school, summers in-between, and four years in the Navy. These experiences and relationships begin with growing up in a small town in Nebraska, where a healthy atmosphere was common in the 1950's. He elected to classify the incidents and individual characters in this story as historical fiction to allow the sharing of his recollections of the content and order. The dialogues used throughout the story are the types of conversations recalled by Phelps during the time frame of the story.
Curtis is a small town in the southwestern corner of Nebraska, with a population in the 1,000 range during the period of time of this story. The Nebraska School of Agriculture (NSA) was the only Ag high school in the state of Nebraska, and the high school featured in this story. Phelps secured historical Navy records from the National Personnel Records Center which have made it possible to create a more realistic historical timeline of "Duty Stations" and dates when earned leaves were taken. Actual information about the individual duty stations have been taken from: US Naval Training Center in San Diego CA; US Naval Air Training Center in Jacksonville, FL; US Naval Air Station in Quonset Point, RI; US Naval Air Station in Atlantic City, NJ; VC-4 Squadron at Naval Air Station in Atlantic City, NJ; and the USS Valley Forge, CVS-45 - all which have been included in this historical fiction story.
The book has a 4 star rating on Amazon. One reviewer stated, “Phelps' book is written with honesty and humor that captures beautifully what it was like to live in America, especially the mid-west, during that time, just as his prequel, ‘Gibbon's Secrets’, did of the previous ten years.” Another stated, “On the other hand, for folks like me, it's a way to gain a better understanding of my country's history. The tone is upbeat and fun...not ponderous, as many true-life history stories are.”
RG Bud Phelps is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at bud1949@gmail.com. All of Phelps’ works are available at Amazon. More information is available at Phelps’ website at http://www.budsbooks.com.
Profile:
R.G. Bud Phelps graduated from the University of Nebraska School Of Agriculture (UNSA) in 1949, the only agriculture high school in the state. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. He married, Patricia Kelly, in 1955. Today they live in Lincoln, Nebraska. Bud and Pat enjoy spending time with their family including three daughters, three sons-in-law, four grand-kids, and one great-grandson, who also all live in Lincoln.
Bud began his career as an accountant and business advisor when he graduated in 1958 from the University of Denver with a BSBA degree, emphasis in Accounting.
He had the good fortune of training at a public accounting firm, Price Waterhouse, while attending the University of Denver. He worked for the manager of the Management Advisory Service (MAS), from whom he received tutoring that would prove to be one of the most valuable experiences of his career
Over the space of more than 50 years, Bud gained a rich background he draws on as he counsels small businesses. With Bud’s help, hundreds of businesses have learned how to use accounting systems and financial statements to make a measurable difference in their success.
Since publishing his first book in 2006, he has published several more books in both the arena of business and the world of historical fiction and mysteries. Bud’s personal writing philosophy is to rely on his own experiences as a guide, keeping the books both interesting and easy to read.

Acclaimed Mississippi Author Darden North Reviews Donna Tartt's 'The Goldfinch' In The Clarion-Ledger
Darden North is the IPPY award-winning author of four novels, most recently "Wiggle Room", a medical thriller novel that combines medicine, terrorism, murder, intrigue, suspense and flawed female characters into a fast-paced, action-packed mystery fiction novel
Mississippi Author Darden North recently wrote a review of Donna Tartt's 'The Goldfinch'. The review was published in The Clarion-Ledger. Calling Tartt a 'master of this genre', North praises her ability to expose human deception and darkness. He also credits her with influencing his interest in contemporary Mississippi authors.
“Set in the South,” North stated, "my recent novel ‘Wiggle Room’ is a faster-paced work than Tartt’s, but our connection to having lived in the Mississippi Delta drew me to her beautiful novels. Unlike the mysteries and thrillers I write, Donna Tartt’s genre is literary fiction. However, we both enjoy tangling our characters in self-centered dilemmas and twisted conflicts both internal and external. Involving these characters in a unique plot keeps the reader engrossed until the end."
Author Darden North practices medicine full-time as an obstetrician/gynecologist at Jackson Healthcare for Women, PA, and writes mysteries and medical thrillers. ‘Wiggle Room’ is his recently released fourth novel. North’s first two novels, ‘House Call’ and ‘Points of Origin’, have received national book awards, most notably an IPPY in Southern Fiction for ‘Points of Origin.’ His third medical thriller, ‘Fresh Frozen’, is in film development and received five national writing awards: the 2009 National Indie Excellence Awards -- Winner, Best Cover Design and Finalist, Regional Fiction; the 2009 San Francisco Book Festival – Honorable Mention in General Fiction; 2009 New Generation Indie Book Awards -- Finalist, Best Cover Design Fiction, and Finalist, Regional Fiction. His first three books have been nominated in Fiction by the Mississippi Institute for Arts and Letters.
'Wiggle Room' has received high praise. Robert Dugoni, New York Times best-selling author of 'The Conviction', said: "A rollercoaster ride of murder, intrigue, and plot twists, 'Wiggle Room' keeps (readers) turning the pages to the final, climactic finish." Carolyn Haines, author of 'Bonfire of The Vanities' called the book "An action-packed, edge-of-the-seat thriller."
Darden North is available for media interviews, personal appearances and book signings. He can be contacted using the information below or by email at darden@dardennorth.com. All of his books are available at most online book retailers including Amazon and Barnes and Noble. More information is available at his website at http://www.DardenNorth.com.

His second novel 'Points of Origin' was recognized in Southern Fiction by the 2007 Independent Publishers Book (IPPY) Awards. His third novel, 'Fresh Frozen' is in film development by Frank Vitolo and Scott Alvaraz. The screenplay adaptation of ‘Fresh Frozen’ is by Amy Taylor. The novel received Best Cover Design in the 2009 National Indie Excellence Awards and Finalist in Regional Fiction.
