The awards program is open to book trailer creators and authors. The awards program is being sponsored by 'Authors Speaking'.

'Authors Speaking' allows authors to make virtual visits to classrooms, libraries, bookclubs and bookstores through Skype and other forms of technology. 'Authors Speaking' gives authors and publishers the opportunity to upload photos, bios, book covers, video and book trailers. The site also offers discussion forums, segmented special interest groups and allows for event listings. Each author can develop a personalized page. In addition the site allows for integration with Facebook and Twitter.

"The virtual world for authors, both fiction and non-fiction, and their audiences is not in the future," stated Dr. Holstein, "it is now.  Technology, including video, via such systems as Skype, is the new way of learning and sharing. Now there is one place, where authors can meet the increasing public demand to be ready virtually. Authors post videos of themselves talking or teaching, trailers of their books, and can keep the public informed about their upcoming engagements and activities."

Those who wish to enter a trailer in the Authors Speaking International Book Trailer Awards program can do so by filling out a simple form. Full contest details will be sent to those who express interest. Registration is limited to 250 trailers. 25 finalists will be chosen by the judging committee.  Five winners will be selected. Both finalists and winners will be provided with an attractive banner that can be used for promotional purposes.

'Authors Speaking' serves as a community of authors, teachers, librarians, teens and tweens, book clubs and bloggers. Girl Power is an all day free event for 75 girls from disadvantaged families who are members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley to be held on Sunday, June 12

Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, internationally known positive psychologist and author of 'The Truth: I’m a Girl, I’m Smart and I Know Everything', chosen one of the top 100 books by The Best You Can Be Foundation, and creator of the website 'Authors Speaking', will talk to girls about building self-esteem.

Girl Power is an all day free event for 75 girls from disadvantaged families who are members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley. All girls attending are required to be part of the Club’s book club. Beginning the first week of April, the girls will be reading the book by the keynote speaker, Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, 'The Truth: I’m a Girl, I’m Smart and I Know Everything'. In addition, the clubs will have discussion groups after the event.

"As a positive psychologist I know how important it is to help girls grow up strong and to feel their power is real.
