Mike Person, Author Of 'With Malice Toward One', Marks The 150th Anniversary Of Abraham Lincoln's Assassination

Person's new educational book, 'With Malice Toward One', combines exciting storytelling, sequential graphics and little known facts to create a book about Lincoln's assassination that kids find both informative and engaging

April 14, 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre in Washington DC. Washington is gearing up for the event with ceremonies, theatrical performances, candlelight vigils, tours and a host of other events.

To mark the anniversary, Mike Person will be allowing free access to 'With Malice Toward One' from  April 9th (the date Lee surrendered to Grant) and April 26th (the date John Wilkes Booth was killed). This coincides with the timeline present in 'With Malice Toward One'. The book will be accessible at his website.

'With Malice Toward One, is a highly visual story about the Lincoln assassination. The book combines compelling text in a graphic novel format that kids love. Each page of text is recreated in graphic form on the opposite page. This style of storytelling appeals to a wider age group than might otherwise be the case. The engaging and highly descriptive text, reinforced by powerful graphics, creates a learning experience that can increase engagement for both type of readers - those who love to read and also kids who prefer the graphic novel format.

Person takes everything one step beyond the presentation of well known facts. Little known events regarding what went on behind the scenes of the Lincoln assassination are integrated into the storyline in a manner that rivals even the best mystery thrillers. The end result is an irresistible work that is a history book, a graphic novel and a mystery novel combined. The book holds strong appeal for children, parents and educators. The appeal of the book lies in the fact that it makes history come alive for kids in a way that few other works can achieve.

"My goal with this novel," Person stated, "was to make learning an exciting and memorable experience for children.  I wanted them to see, and understand this amazing moment in American History.  I felt that the best way to gain a child's interest is by helping place a picture in his or her mind.  Children are visual.  I believe children learn much more when they can see what the are reading."

The book has received rave reviews. Roger Norton, Founder of the Abraham Lincoln Research site and the Lincoln Discussion Symposium stated, “I wish Mike Person’s 'With Malice Toward One' had been  available before I retired as a teacher.  I certainly would have used it in my  classroom.  Mike’s book provides the perfect way for students to learn about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.  Not only is it richly illustrated, it also  includes a glossary and suggestions for further reading.  The book is the ideal  textbook because students of all ability levels can benefit from it; as the  pages are turned there is explanatory text on the left hand side and comic book  illustrations (with text) on the right hand side.  For students wanting to learn  about the Lincoln assassination there is simply nothing available that even  comes remotely close to Mike’s book in terms of quality and educational value.  Congratulations to Mike Person for producing an invaluable addition to Lincoln assassination lore.”

'With Malice Toward One' will be accessible at Person's website from April 9 through April 26, 2015. Mike Person is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at mperson96@gmail. 'With Malice Toward One' is available at Amazon and other online book retailers. More information is available at his website at http://www.cranstonhouse.weebly.com.

Author Les Graham Announces Release Of 'Jude's Gentle Giants', A Book About Horses That Teaches Wholesome Family Values

In the tradition of books like 'Where The Red Fern Grows', Graham's work presents wholesome Christian family values set against the backdrop of the relationship between a young boy and his draft horses

Minnesota author Les Graham has announced the release of 'Jude's Gentle Giants'. More than just a book about horses, Graham's book is a coming of age tale that captures the hopes and dreams of Jude, a young farm boy who dreams of owning a pair of Percheron draft horses. While young people will be enthralled with the relationship that develops between Jude and the horses, parents and grandparents will be pleased with the presentation of wholesome family values.

Readers will watch as Jude develops courage, strength, hope and faith. Jude's trials and tribulations, common to nearly all young people, will resonate deeply with readers. Jude transforms from a farm boy with a love of horses into a man of character. Though decidedly Christian in tone, the book has something to offer children from all walks of life. The ability to engage children fully, while simultaneously teaching valuable life lessons, is a rare gift indeed. Graham has created a masterpiece that blends both into fictional tale that will both entertain and educate.

"I wrote this book," Graham stated, " to give young teens a modern day true to life story of what rural life is like growing up on a farm within a Christ centered family. I looked at what is offered to kids to read and was disappointed, dragons, serpents, Amish, or 1,800’s themes are pretty much all that is offered. I wanted to show that dreams can come true through hard work and perseverance in today’s real world. I did not grow up in a Christ centered family so I wanted to at least write about how God designed the family unit."

The storyline features Jude, a high school boy growing up on a dairy farm in rural Minnesota.  Jude dreams of owning his own Percheron draft horse. Through hard work and determination, Jude ends up with two Percherons instead of one. Life is not easy for Jude as he battles to keep his colts alive. With the help of Jude’s Mom, the colts survive and Jude starts with the training ups and downs. An unbreakable bond is forged between Jude and his Percherons. Jude is blessed with strong relationships from Dad, Mom and his sister Becky. God however has a number of battles lined up for Jude.

Reviews by readers have been very positive:

"This book is full of examples of values we don't see much of today - values like respecting teachers and parents, helping older neighbors, accepting personal responsibility (chores and horse care), being a good moral example for others, working and saving for a coveted item, and leaning on faith and prayers to get through hard times."

"This is an excellent book that brings the reader into the life and family of a young man who seeks to live life with a God directed purpose and meaning."

"Any child or young adult who is captivated by horses will love this story of a teen boy's experience raising and training Percheron draft horses. With this story comes life lessons on faith and character. A double win."

"Finally, a true-to-life story that I can feel confident recommending to both youth and adults. Graham does a wonderful job using the teenage character and life of Jude to teach lessons of work ethic, responsibility, forgiveness and family relationships. A wholesome and compelling return to reading for the sake of pure enjoyment! With adventure, humor, intrigue and romance, this story has it all."

'Jude's Gentle Giants' will be featured on national TV in April. RFD-TV will show 'Jude’s Gentle Giants' on the 'Rural Heritage' segment of the show April 7th 3:30pm and April 11th 2:00pm.

Les Graham is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at lesgraham93@gmail.com. 'Judes Gentle Giants' is available at Amazon and Payhip in print and ebook formats. More information is available at Graham's website at http://www.lesgraham.com.

About Les Graham:

Les Graham lives in rural Minnesota with his wife Kathy. Les and Kathy have been married 35 years and have three children and six grandchildren. They own and operate Radiant Outfitters, an in floor heating company.

Les has owned Percherons since 1990 and has had many adventures with them including: weddings, funerals, proms, sleigh rides, logging, mowing hay, raking hay, snow removal, riding, training, and a few parades. Pete and Joe are his current team of Percherons and inspired Les to write ‘Jude’s Gentle Giants’ the first of a two part series.

His spare time is spent with grandkids, writing, some local theater, building timberframe structures, and his horses. 'Surrendering the Reigns' is the second book of the series by Britchin Books, available in April 2015.

Patrick Brigham, Mystery Novelist And Author Of ‘Abduction - An Angel Over Rimini’, Chosen As One Of '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'

Patrick Brigham was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors who appeared on The Authors Show Radio. Brigham is the author of a number of mystery books and crime thrillers that address political and Cold War issues

Patrick Brigham, author of the crime novel 'Abduction: An Angel Over Rimini', has been chosen as a winner for '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'. Winners will appear in this year's edition of the book, available in softcover and kindle formats. Brigham was chosen through a public voting process.

Crime novels and mystery books are everywhere. Engaging crime novels and good mystery books are fewer in number. Very few address real world political issues, specifically Communism and the Cold War. Patrick Brigham is a prolific mystery novelist and master of the genre.  He has recently written three good mystery books, including 'Herodotus – The Gnome of Sofia', 'Judas Goat – The Kennet Narrow Boat Mystery' and 'Abduction: An Angel over Rimini'.

Set once more at the end of the Cold War and Communism, his most recent book features the jazz loving, classic car enthusiast and fictional Europol police murder detective, Chief Inspector Michael Lambert. Faced with political intrigue and in order to solve cases which often involve Eastern Europe, he genuinely needs to understand how an old Communist thinks, during the course of his investigations.

There are few good books on the subject of international crime, especially mystery stories which delve into the shady side of politics. There are also few mystery novelists, who are prepared to address the thorny political issues of arms dealing and money laundering and people trafficking in their mystery crime fiction.

"I was pleased to be chosen this year," Brigham stated, "because I felt that I had matured as a writer and that Abduction: An Angel over Rimini, somehow deserved to be recognized, bearing in mind the actual subject matter. Clearly About the abduction of a little English girl on vacation in Rimini, it also introduces the reader to the horrors of people trafficking and illegal immigration. Not only are these poor unfortunates trafficked illegally, but they also bring terrorism with them and Al Quada in particular, because, one criminal activity supports the other."

Patrick Brigham does not just write about these situations. He has lived them. He was the Editor in Chief of The Sofia Western News, the first English Language news magazine in Bulgaria, between 1995 and 2000.

As a journalist, he witnessed the changes in this once hard core communist country and personally knew most of the political players, including the old Communist Dictator Todor Zhivkov and his successors Zhelev and Stoyanov, but these days as an author, he concentrates on writing good mystery books often revealing diplomatic and political intrigue.

"It is no longer smart to be ‘An Angry Young Man,’ but I think that I am allowed to be a concerned older man." Brigham concluded. "World problems concerning arms dealing, money laundering, illegal immigration and terrorism, are all connected. Citizens turn a blind eye to the activities of terrorists like Al Quada and ISIL, because after years of media bombardment they have become sick of it. My books introduce these  unsettling facts, but I surround them with good old fashioned murder, mystery and well thought out fiction, in order to stimulate their interest, and very often to explain to readers, how it is done."

Readers have praised his latest crime novel. One stated, "I am an ex cop - he must of done a lot of research to get so many things right. I felt when reading Abduction that Patrick was relating an investigation, he actually carried out." Another said, "Abduction - An Angel Over Rimini is an entertaining, gripping, and also an astonishing Europol procedural read, making you want to read more. I was drawn into the story right away. I felt close to Michael Lambert and his way of analysing and detecting. All relevant characters became pretty real. Abduction - An Angel Over Rimini is a good read for mystery fans, readers who like surprises, and apparent coincidences."

Patrick Brigham is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at patrick.brigham@gmail.com. Books are available at Amazon, Amazon.UK, Smashwords and at his website. More information is available at Patrick Brigham's website at http://www.patrickbrigham.co.uk.

About Patrick Brigham:

Patrick has been a writer and journalist for many years. He has published many short stories, newspaper and magazine articles. Born in the English Home Counties, he attended Public School and College before moving to London and embarking on his career. Having spent the last twenty years in South Eastern Europe, many of his stories are set in this part of the world as well as in Oxford, Hampshire and Berkshire. As the Editor in Chief of the first English Language news magazine in Sofia Bulgaria, between 1995 and 2000 - and as a journalist - he witnessed the changes in this once hard core Communist Country and personally knew most of the political players, including the old Dictator Todor Zhivkov and his successors Zhelev and Stoyanov.

Finding Happiness - Award Winning Author Grace Mattioli Offers Insight In Realistic Fiction Novel, 'Discovery Of An Eagle'

Grace Mattioli delivers insight through story.  She writes engaging and moving tales that combine the insight and inspiration of 'The Alchemist' with the humor and quirkiness of 'A Confederacy of Dunces'

It goes without saying that finding happiness is the great preoccupation of nearly all of us.  And yes, as any first year psychology student will tell us, we all externalize that desire and seek happiness in things outside ourselves.  Is that the answer?  We all know that it is not.

Google 'finding happiness' and you'll see that hundreds of thousands of opinions of every type and style are offered us regarding 'how to find happiness'.  Everything we might imagine, covered from every conceivable angle. Everything from finding happiness in relationships or finding joy in your job, to overcoming boredom, apathy, monotony or mediocrity. Some would have us believe that the key is to just wake up happy or perhaps to force a smile or a cheerful attitude. See only the good. Think only happy thoughts. Just BE happy. Is it that easy? We all know that it is not.

Most people cannot define or even verbalize what it means to be happy. We only know when we are happy, and when we are not. We don't REALLY know why. Only one thing can be said with certainty - happiness is not a goal - it is a state. Happiness is not a place - it is a journey.

Author Grace Mattioli's realistic fiction novel, 'Discovery Of An Eagle' gives us a penetrating look inside one fictional character's journey to that state.

After his job lays him off, Cosmo Greco takes his sister, Silvia, up on her offer to drive to Portland. At the beginning of the trip, a Mack truck wipes them off the road, nearly killing them. This near-death experience is a wake-up call for Cosmo, and he begins to question the life he’s been leading. He realizes that he’s not happy with his current life and wants to make a change. A number of encounters along the way reinforce this desire, but he’s afraid to leave the familiarity of his humdrum existence for the unknown. His journey is set against the backdrop of the American road with vivid, soulful descriptions and a cast of colorful characters. This book is the sequel to 'Olive Branches Don’t Grow On Trees' and the second book in the Greco Family Trilogy, although it can be read as a stand-alone. Reviewers such as Kirkus Reviews and Midwest Book Review have called this a poignant and well-drawn soaring story that opens readers eyes to new perspectives.

"I wanted to write a story about what it takes to be truly happy," Mattioli stated. "Through his travels from east to west, Cosmo realizes that he has been bored and unhappy and he wants to break free of his dull existence. He is a pragmatist who is afraid to leave that which is familiar for the unknown. Through his inner struggle and through facing his fears, he evolves and discovers the eagle within.  Readers will be able to relate to Cosmo and his inner struggle and they will be very inspired by his discoveries. As one reviewer wrote, “(This) book isn’t just about Cosmo’s journey. It takes a hard look at the lives we live, the monotony we assume is a part of adulthood and the mediocrity we’re content to settle for. Through Cosmo’s shoes, the reader’s perspectives are quietly opened to new possibilities.”

In her contemporary fiction books, Mattioli paints pictures with words. Her works are filled with vivid descriptions and her characters are extremely dimensional and unforgettable. While her realistic fiction books center around serious issues such as family relations, death and addiction, they are very humorous and fun; readers will be entertained as they gain valuable insights that they can take with them long after they have finished the last page.

Grace Mattioli is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at grace@gracemattioli.com. Mattioli's contemporary fiction books are available at Powell’s, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo and iTunes. More information on all her work is available at her website at http://www.gracemattioli.com.

About Grace Mattioli:

Grace Mattioli is the author of Olive Branches Don’t Grow On Trees (2012) and Discovery of an Eagle (2014). She has worked as a librarian for over 19 years and has been writing creatively since she was a child.

The Entertainment Books No Other Person Could Write – 'Waiting For Elizabeth', Final Segment In Series, Released By Author Ben Bryant

Following 'Three Stages' and 'Circumstances Beyond My Control', Ben Bryant’s third book is a satisfying ending to his extraordinary memoirs

Hollywood stories and celebrity memoirs can be found everywhere today. But never have entertainment books been written that offer an insider’s backstage – and on stage – view of the inner workings of the entertainment industry at nearly every level over a period of nearly six decades. Nobody could ever write such a series of books – save for one man – Ben Bryant.

While in his acting phase, Bryant shared the stage or screen (as well as personal occasions) with literally dozens of household name level stars such as Clint Eastwood, Christopher Walken, Charles Bronson, Claire Trevor, Roy Rogers, David Carradine, Jerry Orbach, Mary Martin, Raul Julia and scores of others. In his second book, covering his years as a freelance producer, he presents a vividly entertaining view of the world of movie and television production. Now comes the last book of Ben Bryant’s exceptional autobiographic trilogy. As has been evident in his two previous volumes, 'Three Stages' and 'Circumstances Beyond My Control', Ben’s "Journey" has been anything but ordinary or average.

Spanning from 1990 through 2014, the central story in the third volume is his losing and regaining the love of his life. This painful yet ultimately joyous saga is framed by his continuing artistic evolution, finally, as an editor and director in video.

Ben found his most creative expression as an editor. The process of taking hours and hours of disparate video and shaping it into a coherent, comprehensible and compelling form has provided his greatest sense of artistic expression. He shares these experiences from the arduous initial learning process through fascinating – often hilarious – tales of numerous projects. He skillfully demystifies the technical details of this complex craft making it clearly comprehensible to the uninitiated. 'Waiting for Elizabeth' is a satisfying and happy completion of these extraordinary memoirs.

"After thirty seven months – with the publication of 'Waiting for Elizabeth: My Journey, Book 3' – I’ve completed my memoirs," Bryant stated. "The process of remembering, fact-checking and the shaping of this seventy-nine year chronicle of an artist’s life into readable and, I hope, entertaining books has been at various times fun, grueling, painful, freeing, enlightening and, ultimately, very satisfying."

"When I began jotting down a few memories I had no intention to write a book but the reminiscence took on a life of its own and after six weeks there were over a hundred pages and I couldn’t stop. 'Wow,' I thought, 'I seem to be writing an autobiography.'"

"This experience reflects the way I’ve lived most of my life. You could say that I followed the Yogi Berra philosophy; ‘When you come to a fork in the road, take it."

"I’m glad I took this particular fork and am pleased with the outcome. I hope readers will be too."

Ben Bryant’s captivating stories capture the entertainment industry experience in ways no other work has ever captured it before or ever will again. He is a consummate storyteller. Every segment of the industry – theatre, television, Las Vegas, national tours, The Metropolitan Opera and the Broadway stage – occupies a place in his engaging tales. Bryant’s "backstage view" of the world of entertainment is panoramic. His up close and personal stories form the basis of a work that readers will find revealing, amusing and wildly entertaining.

While working as an actor/singer, Ben Bryant performed on Broadway, at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center as well as on stages and in concert halls all over the USA and Canada. He was even briefly an opera singer at the Met. He has known and worked with many extraordinary people. Debut Sci Fi Novel,' Truth Insurrected' By Author Daniel P. Douglas, Named Foreword Reviews’ 2014 INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards Finalist

Daniel P. Douglas is a multi-genre author who turns ordinary people into extraordinary heroes. 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project', is a suspenseful science fiction conspiracy thriller featuring former FBI agent William Harrison

Science fiction author Daniel P. Douglas announced his debut science fiction novel, 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project', has been recognized as a finalist in the 17th annual Foreword Reviews’ INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards. Each year, Foreword Reviews shines a light on a select group of indie publishers, university presses, and self-published authors whose work stands out from the crowd. In the next three months, a panel of more than 100 volunteer librarians and booksellers will determine the winners in 63 categories based on their experience with readers and patrons.

“The recognition as a science fiction finalist is a great honor,” Douglas said, “As an author, I feel obligated to write high-quality, meaningful, and engaging stories, ones that also inspire a bond between the reader and my characters. Being named an awards finalist reassures me that I made good on those obligations in 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project'.”

Douglas is a multi-genre author who turns ordinary people into extraordinary heroes. Douglas creates the most unlikely of heroes and calls upon them to join extraordinary and mysterious struggles. His characters' sometimes-reluctant choices and actions put them on a collision course with destiny and reveal unimaginable truths. In every pulse pounding, edge-of-your-seat adventure, survival means confronting personal flaws and doubts, and forging unexpected fates as inspiring new champions in the eternal battle against evil.

In 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project', readers plunge into a suspenseful science fiction conspiracy thriller featuring former FBI agent William Harrison – a reluctant yet admirable hero, who finds himself hot on the trail of a major extraterrestrial cover-up.

Douglas' science fiction novel walks a razors edge between science fiction and real world facts. UFO cover-ups and the resulting UFO conspiracy theories make headlines almost every day. Even high-level government officials such as John Podesta are calling for disclosure and truth regarding UFOs after decades of government cover-ups. Recently President Obama jokingly stated on Jimmy Kimmel Live that aliens control the secrecy surrounding UFO's. Former Canadian Defense Minister Paul Hellyer has asserted that extraterrestrials reside at Nellis Air Force Base. In 2012 Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev stated that Russian Presidents are briefed on extraterrestrials living among us. The truth about aliens and UFO activity has never been revealed. All of these kinds of real world situations lend credibility to, and create awareness around the issues Douglas addresses in his latest work.

Foreword Reviews will celebrate the winners of the 2014 INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards during a program at the American Library Association Annual Conference in San Francisco on Friday, June 26 at 6 p.m. at the Pop Top Stage in the exhibit hall. Everyone is welcome. The Editor’s Choice Prize for Fiction, Nonfiction, and Foreword Reviews’ 2014 INDIEFAB Publisher of the Year Award will also be announced during the presentation.

“After 17 years, our awards program has become synonymous with quality because our editors set such a high bar on the finalist round, which makes it especially tough for the judges who select the winners,” said Victoria Sutherland, publisher of Foreword Reviews. “In every genre, our judges will find an interesting, high-quality selection of books culled from this year’s entries.”

Daniel P. Douglas is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at don@freepublicitygroup.com. An interview with Douglas is currently running at The Authors Show site. 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project' can be found at Amazon.com. Frances Fuller, Author Of ‘In Borrowed Houses’ Takes First Place In '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' Book Awards

Frances Fuller was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors who appeared on The Authors Show Radio in 2014. Frances also took the Bronze Medal in the Illumination Book Awards in the Memoir category. 'In Borrowed Houses' details her years in Lebanon during the Lebanese Civil War

Frances Fuller, author of 'In Borrowed Houses,’ took top honors in the '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' book awards. Winners will appear in this year’s edition of the awards book. Frances was chosen as the result of her appearance on The Authors Show Radio. She also took a Bronze Medal in the Illumination Book Awards.

In the tradition of books like 'Out Of Africa' and 'City Of Joy,’ Frances Fuller's memoir offers readers a glimpse into day-to-day life that is completely unlike the experience of most Americans. 'In Borrowed Houses' details her years in Lebanon during the Lebanese Civil War.

“I am honored,” Fuller stated, “to be chosen for these awards from among so many good authors with valuable books.  And I am happy that right now, when horrors out of the Middle East dominate the headlines, I can offer readers a more human and hopeful view by sharing stories about ordinary people in Lebanon, that microcosm of the Middle East so critical to the world.”

In Lebanon, a country fragmented by war, the Fullers are house-hunting, because they have a job to do — publishing Christian literature in the Arabic language. The house they find is mostly a heap of rocks, Frances thinks, but Wayne has visions of turning it into a beautiful and comfortable home. Meanwhile the Syrian occupation, an Israeli invasion, the bombing of the American Marines, artillery battles, car bombs and kidnappings impact their lives.

Told in short episodes, Fuller’s book reveals the alienation, confusion and courage of civilians in civil war, introducing to the reader a variety of real people with whom the author interacts: editors, salesmen, neighbors, refugees, soldiers, missionaries, lawyers, shepherds, artists, students. With these people she works, studies, plays games, prays, laughs and cries, all to the accompaniment of gunfire. Together these small stories tell what war is like for civilians caught on a battlefield, and they create the impression of the Lebanese as a fun-loving, witty, patient and resilient people. They also compose, not a political history, but a historical document of a time and a place.

Critics have praised  ‘In Borrowed Houses.’ A judge in the 22nd Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards called 'In Borrowed Houses' “…a well written book full of compassion…a captivating story…”. Another reviewer described the book as “Wise, honest, sensitive, funny, heart-wrenching…”. Colin Chapman, lecturer in Islamic Studies at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut said, “….western Christians and Middle Eastern Christians need to read this story…full of remarkable perceptiveness and genuine hope.”

Frances Fuller is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at frances0516@att.net. Fuller's book is available at Amazon and other book retailers. More information is available at her website at http://www.inborrowedhouseslebanon.com.

About Frances Fuller:

Frances Fuller spent thirty years in the violent Middle East and for twenty-four of those years was the director of a Christian publishing program with offices in Lebanon. While leading the development of spiritual books in the Arabic language, she survived long years of civil war and invasions.

Frances holds degrees in Journalism, Creative Writing and Religious Education, and she studied Arabic at Georgetown University. She and her husband, James Wayne Fuller, live now in the foothills of the Sierras in California. They have five children, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

From Prison To Prosperity - Tales2Inspire Presents The Story Of Ray Tapia

'Tales2Inspire' is an ongoing series of books filled with inspiring and motivational stories compiled by Lois W. Stern

A recent story in the New York Times entitled 'Even as Many Eyes Watch, Brutality at Rikers Island Persists' details the problems at Riker's Island. The US Attorney's office, after issuing a report about the brutality at the complex, threatened to sue the city if the situation is not improved.

Another recent story by the New York Times entitled 'Out Of Prison and Staying Out, After 3rd Strike in California', presented some very enlightening information regarding the experiences of inmates released after being handed life sentences under California's 3 strikes law. The return rate, according to the article, is remarkably low.

These stories present two starkly contrasted views of the prison system and the treatment of those caught up in that system.

Ray Tapia’s personal story, From Dungeon to Dignity, now published in 'Tales2Inspire - The Ruby Collection', tells of his struggles after being convicted of armed robbery, serving time in one of the worst run prisons in the Nebraska Prison system, repeatedly being thrown in “the hole”, beaten and abused, becoming a rebellious ringleader who incited riots and fires within the prison walls. And then things began to change. With the help of a new warden, this same prison morphed into something more than a punishment machine. New programs were set in motion to rehabilitate those prisoners who were willing to participate. Ray was one of them. He turned his life around, married his love, Nida, together producing four children all living near the parental home. He has been gainfully employed for over thirty-five years and is a warm hearted pillar of his community.

"Each time I tell Ray’s story," Stern stated, "I get feedback exclaiming 'This one would make a fabulous movie.' Although I celebrate each of my author’s successes, and find it especially gratifying that two of their stories are currently being produced as films, I fervently hope to see Ray’s story, From Dungeon to Dignity, take its rightful place among those honored few."

"Tales2Inspire' provides the best-of-the-best with an opportunity to get one compelling story published, and start them on the road to several strong branding and platform building opportunities. I don’t like using the word ‘unique’ but Tales2Inspire is truly unlike any other writer’s contest. First, there is no submission fee. Then, even after the awards are announced, I continue to work with the author of a ‘tale’ which shows exceptional promise. I do not charge for any of these services because I am committed to the ideal of 'Authors Helping Authors'. Of course there is something in it for me too as I get first rights to publication of each winning ‘tale’."

'Tales2Inspire' is a growing collection of anthologies of varied themes, with each book containing a compilation of stories filled with uplifting, inspiring messages compiled by author Lois W. Stern. Stern has authored some of these stories herself, but many more of them come from winners of her annual ‘Tales2Inspire’ contest. Stern has discovered that inspiring stories can be found everywhere. She continually seeks submissions by talented writers, but also keeps alert to news of unsung heroes whose fascinating stories find their way into one of her books . Each of the inspirational stories, including those submitted by Stern herself, is judged anonymously by a peer group to determine eligibility for publication. There are no fees to submit for consideration, and winning authors receive many no-charge platform-building opportunities.

"Because each of the stories included in any of the ‘Tales2Inspire’ collections is selected for its inspirational value, these books make ideal gifts for both those seeking a simple pick-me-up to those looking for uplifting, motivational messages presented in a very powerful way," Stern stated. "The appeal of these books is not just for people who need a major lift in spirits, but also for those just wanting a good read with embedded ‘feel good’ messages."

The benefits of being a contributing author to 'Tales2Inspire' include, but are not limited to:

* Author's story published in a respected book collection

* Author’s headshot photo and mini-biography published inside the book

* Name listed on Amazon.com as a contributing author

* Story featured and promoted as the inspiring story of the week on the Winning Tales Blog

* Story highlighted on the Tales2Inspire Facebook page, selected LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter and other social media groups

* Story featured in the Inspiring Stories monthly newsletter, distributed to hundreds of subscribers, on a rotating basis throughout the years.

* Opportunities for free and low cost promotions on the Tales2Inspire Spotlight page, the YouTube Winning Tales Channel, media releases, personal bookmarks to match author’s story, and much more.

* Discounted prices for bulk orders (ten or more books, mix or match titles.)

Lois W. Stern is available for media interviews and multi-media presentations and can be reached using the information below or by email at tales2inspire@optimum.net. Full details are available on the 'Tales2Inspire' website at http://www.Tales2Inspire.com.

Profile:

After twenty years as an active educator, Lois W. Stern continued to pursue her love for writing, and soon became co-editor of the then popular Long Island web-zine, LI EYE. As she created and authored the column ‘Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives’, she solidified her special niche as an investigative journalist. She has put those same talents to work in creating the ‘Tales2Inspire ’“Authors Helping Authors” project/contest and working to encourage and nurture the skills of each of her participating authors. Since she initiated this project in 2012, Lois has published four Tales2Inspire books: The Emerald Collection (Beyond Coincidence’ stories), The Topaz Collection  (Stories of ‘Awakenings & Aha Moments’) The Sapphire Collection (Stories that ‘Echo in the Mind’). and the Ruby Collection (‘Gifts of Compassion’ Stories). Lois’ goal is to continue to publish more books of inspirational stories to add to this series of short gift books, with the name of each author credited for their story.

For a change of pace, Stern is hoping her next Tales2Inspire book will be a collection of humorous, true stories, because “after all, humor is a great anecdote for uplifting one’s mood and replenishing the soul,” explains Stern. Nonetheless, she welcomes stories of many other themes, and suggests authors refer to her website for updates.

Lois is available for interviews and presentations. A sought after speaker, she holds her audiences in rapt attention with multi-media presentations of her winning stories.

Inside The Mind Of A Terrorist - Revealing Diary Of A Captured Terrorist Released By J. C. Clark

Terrorism dominates today's headlines. Most people do not understand the ideology behind these senseless acts. Why do they do it? 'My Days In The Beast: The Diary of a Holy Warrior in America', uncovers some of those reasons through diary entries from a perpetrator

What goes through the mind of terrorists who wage Jihad? Nearly everyone wonders what these people think about Americans and what reasoning lies behind the desire to kill innocent victims worldwide.

Author J.C. Clark provides a graphic and chilling description of the thought processes of a terrorist in his recent release 'My Days In The Beast: Diary of a Holy Warrior in America'.

In this book, weeks of entries translated from Arabic show the distain, contempt and hatred of America held by radical Islam. On 9-11 four groups of al-Qaeda and Hamas terrorists financed by Osama Bin Laden took control of several aircraft, crashing them into and destroying the World Trade Center (WTC) and severely damaging the Pentagon while killing and injuring thousands of Americans. Aamir Al-Mamoura, the author and Holy Warrior or Mujahideen kept the diary for the benefit of his family so that, in the event of his death, they would know the part he played in the great jihad against America.

'My Days In The Beast' has received rave review on Amazon. One review stated,  “I would recommend this book to anyone who doubts the ability of terrorists to do the things they have been doing.”

Another said, “This diary is a frightening read, indeed. The author shows with great skill just how vulnerable we are to fanatical extremists intent on inflicting harm on us, even if they have to make the ultimate sacrifice to achieve their goal.”

Midwest Book Review gave the book a 5 star rating, saying, “What drives a man to give their life to a radical concept? My Days in the Beast is a worthwhile read for readers looking for fiction with a current event twist.”

Seldom do we ask 'how?', as we see the 'how' in the headlines every day. The question that nearly everyone asks is 'why?' This is the question that is answered in 'My Days In The Beast'.

There are no easy solutions to the problems terrorism creates. Though America responds with every available resource available, there seems to be no end to these types of incidents and they appear to be on the increase. What will be attacked next?  Will the threat of terrorism lessen with time? JC Clark does not think so.

“My Days in the Beast” is available in hard copy from Amazon or as an EBook via Nook from Barnes & Noble as well as numerous other EBook providers.

Mr. Clark is available for interview and can be reached using the information below or by email at mspincorp@verizon.net. More information is available at his website at http://www.terror101.com.

Author Daniel P. Douglas' New Sci Fi Release, 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project', Centered On UFO Disclosure

Douglas is a multi-genre author who turns ordinary people into extraordinary heroes. Douglas' new science fiction book blends the authenticity of a Tom Clancy novel with the mystery and suspense of 'The X Files'. The new release is centered around the subject of UFO disclosure

Sci fi author Daniel P. Douglas has announced the release of 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project'. The newly released science fiction book blends the authenticity of a Tom Clancy novel with the mystery and suspense of 'The X Files'. It is especially pertinent today, as even high-level government officials such as John Podesta are calling for disclosure and truth regarding UFOs after decades of government cover-ups.

According to Daniel, years of watching or reading anything and everything about UFOs led him to write 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project'. His core motivation, however, was anger, and finding an outlet for it.

“Like many who follow the subject,” says Daniel, “I’m routinely frustrated by the response of government to UFOs, especially in not admitting what they know, and I’m not just talking about well-known cases like Roswell. There are thousands of UFO cases to talk about, past and present.”

Daniel adds that he was not surprised when outgoing advisor to President Obama, John Podesta, recently tweeted his regret that he could not get the government to release its UFO files.

“The stonewalling is policy and has been for decades. It is frustrating and damages the public trust. And if a former Chief of Staff and Presidential advisor can’t succeed in gaining disclosure, I have to wonder where it leaves individual citizens who seek the truth. I also wonder why more people aren’t outraged and vocal about this failure of government accountability.”

In the storyline of the new science fiction thriller, when former FBI agent William Harrison begins receiving mysterious postcards with the signature "Echo Tango," he's alerted to a deadly government cover-up beyond anything he ever thought possible. His informant turns out to be a guilt-ridden ex-operative in the Saint Mary Project, an ultra-secret program engaged in alien contact. The organization is wiping out loose ends, and Echo Tango thinks Harrison is the man he needs to stop the decades-old conspiracy.

Thanks to a gunshot wound suffered in an attempt to thwart an armed robbery, the crime-fighting life is something of Harrison's past. He keeps his shooting skills sharp but walks with a limp, and he is more likely to catch marital cheaters than anything else--as a private investigator. But Harrison can't shake the feeling that this paranormal case is meant for him. He enlists the help of colleagues and starts following the mysterious clues.

“In this science fiction novel," Douglas concluded, "I tried to build it on a range of UFO lore and keep it true to that lore so followers of the subject would see their interests, knowledge, and beliefs reflected – and respected – in the book.”

Critics have praised 'Truth Insurrected'. Kirkus Reviews stated, "…its sprinkling of fantastical elements makes it a standout..." Blue Ink Review said, "...Conspiracy theorists and science fiction fans alike will find Truth Insurrected hard to put down." BestThrillers.com called it "An engrossing, deftly-crafted UFO conspiracy thriller that is easily one of the most successful tales to emerge out of Roswell alien lore." The Columbia Review of Books & Film said, "An excellent science-fiction/conspiracy thriller...Highly recommended."

Daniel P. Douglas is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at don@freepublicitygroup.com. An interview with Douglas is currently running at The Authors Show site. 'Truth Insurrected: The Saint Mary Project' can be found at Amazon.com. Book Marketing Announcements: The Authors Show Lineup For The Week Of March 2, 2015

Book Marketing serves as a resource for authors and allows members to engage in promotion and publicity for marketing purposes. The site offers no-charge marketing training, book publicity opportunities and a buyers club for book marketing services

Don McCauley of the Free Publicity Focus Group and Danielle Hampson, Executive Producer of The Authors Show, founders of The Authors Marketing Powerhouse, have announced The Authors Show radio and broadcast schedule for the week of March 2, 2015. The new show schedule is available at the Authors Marketing Powerhouse site.

For those who hope to sell books on the Internet, the challenge can be daunting. It can be confusing difficult, time consuming and expensive. Book Marketing, branded as The Authors Marketing Powerhouse, helps authors overcome these challenges by providing authors and publishers three distinct benefits:

* No charge publicity - members can upload photos, bios, book covers, video and book videos. Each author can develop a personalized page and a personal blog. The site allows for integration with Facebook and Twitter.

* No charge marketing training - provided through the Book Marketing Master Class series of training videos and peer to peer sharing of information.

* Buyers club - low pricing on products and services used by authors and publishers to market books allows members to dramatically reduce book production and book marketing costs.

The site also offers discussion forums, segmented special interest groups and allows for event listings.  The site is a joint collaboration, developed by Don McCauley of the Free Publicity Focus Group and Danielle Hampson, Executive Producer of The Authors Show.

The Authors Show radio shows offer professionally produced radio interviews that are broadcast worldwide. Segmented shows by genre include fiction, non-fiction and Christian shows. The upcoming scheduled radio lineups include:
