US Department Of Peace Could Help Avert Nuclear War With North Korea - Award Winning Author Frances Fuller Issues Statement

Fuller spent many years in the Middle East. She puts a face on the Middle East many Americans have not yet seen. Her award-winning memoir, 'In Borrowed Houses', gives readers a penetrating glimpse of the Middle East from the inside.

In the middle of the war of words threatening nuclear conflict between North Korea and the U.S. comes a sane statement from North Korea’s vice foreign minister suggesting NK’s willingness to negotiate, “if America’s nuclear weapons are also on the table.” Frances Fuller, advocate of a U.S. Department of Peace considers this an opportunity for America to demonstrate real leadership, as well as evidence that a US Department of Peace is needed urgently.

On October 19 on the evening newscast, NBC reported the minister’s subtle proposal.

"Days later,” Fuller says, “the words are still ringing in my ears, in spite of perpetual static on every other topic imaginable: conflict between Trump and a congresswoman about what he said or didn’t say to a dead soldier’s wife, along with Gen. Kelly’s reaction, the EPA’s cancelation of a meeting of its scientists, and one celebrity is pregnant while another is engaged.  And I have heard infinitum about pervasive sexual harassment, but not a sound from anybody about these intriguing words from the vice foreign minister of North Korea.

"And, listening to the broadcast again, I realize that even the NBC reporter, speaking from North Korea, did not headline his statement but put it at the end of the segment, among signs of Pyongyang’s intransigence.

"Excuse me, but didn’t North Korea just lob the ball into our court?"

Indeed they have. Fuller went on to say:

"In the last few weeks, from various directions, including our own Secretary of State, suggestions have surfaced about the possibility of negotiating with North Korea, whose people are suffering economically while convinced of our hatred and evil intentions toward them. And now we learn that in June former president Jimmy Carter volunteered to travel to North Korea for the Trump administration and attempt to lower the tension. This information surfaced in an interview by Maureen Dowd for the Sunday NY Times Review. In answer to a question, the former president revealed that he took advantage of his seat beside Lt. Gen. H.H. McMaster at Zbigniew Brzezinski’s funeral to send a message to the president. So far he has gotten only a negative response.

"Into this situation, the vice foreign minister drops these words for our consideration, 'Negotiation is only possible….if America’s nuclear weapons are also on the table.'

"Is that not perfect logic? (We did invent and use the bomb.)

"Is that not an appeal to fairness? (Many people in the world think so.)

"Does that not mean, 'Negotiation is possible, if………'?" (This is a test of our intentions. Do we prefer to destroy North Korea?)

Frances Fuller, like many others who have signed the petition on her website, believes we urgently need a US Department of Peace whose job is to figure out the situation, to listen and respond in hope of saving the world.

The full text of the statement is available at http://www.inborrowedhouseslebanon.com.

Frances Fuller puts a face on the Middle East many Americans have not yet seen. Her award-winning memoir, 'In Borrowed Houses', gives readers a penetrating glimpse of the Middle East from the inside.

The Syrian occupation of Lebanon during that country’s long civil war is part of Fuller’s experience in the Middle East, related in her memoir. Told in short episodes, Fuller’s book reveals the alienation, confusion and courage of civilians in the Lebanese civil war, introducing to the reader a variety of real people with whom the author interacts: editors, salesmen, neighbors, refugees, soldiers, missionaries, lawyers, shepherds, artists, students. With these people she works, studies, plays games, prays, laughs and cries, all to the accompaniment of gunfire. Together these small stories tell what war is like for civilians caught on a battlefield, and they create the impression of the Lebanese as a fun-loving, witty, patient and resilient people. Fuller's stories compose not a political history, but a historical document of a time and a place.

'In Borrowed Houses' has taken three industry awards. Frances Fuller was the Grand Prize winner in the 2015 '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' Book Awards. It received the bronze medal for memoir in the Illumination Book Awards in 2014. Northern California Publishers and Authors annually gives awards for literature produced by residents of the area. In 2015 'In Borrowed Houses' received two prizes: Best Non-fiction and Best Cover.

Critics have praised ‘In Borrowed Houses.’ A judge in the 22nd Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards called 'In Borrowed Houses' “ . . a well written book full of compassion . . . a captivating story . . . ”. Another reviewer described the book as “Wise, honest, sensitive, funny, heart-wrenching . . .”. Colin Chapman, lecturer in Islamic Studies at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut said, “ . . . western Christians and Middle Eastern Christians need to read this story…full of remarkable perceptiveness and genuine hope.”

Frances Fuller is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at frances0516@att.net. The full text of her latest article is available at her website. Fuller's book is available at Amazon and other book retailers. A free ebook sample from 'In Borrowed Houses' is available at http://www.payhip.com/francesfuller. Frances Fuller also blogs on other issues relating to the Middle East on her website at http://www.inborrowedhouseslebanon.com.

Christmas Books That Change Kid's Lives - Cindy C. Murray's 'The Adventures Of Sophie And Scottie' Action Adventure Trilogy Encourages Childhood Literacy

Murray utilizes girl power and science to promote literacy in Sophie And Scottie action adventure trilogy.

Most of us buy books, games and toys for our children for Christmas. Today, in the modern digital age, the sheer number of choices can easily overwhelm even the most selective parents. Nevertheless, there is a gift we can give to our kids that supercedes all others - the love of reading and the desire to learn.

Books can take children to entirely new levels of experience, opening their eyes to undiscovered, entirely new adventures, places and experiences. From the safety of home, they can explore to their heart's content and can be given the opportunity to ask questions, explore feelings or maybe just share a good laugh. If we can teach a child to learn to love reading, the simple joy of learning new things and the lure of unimagined ideas can become an endless quest that can vastly improve the quality of life for a child, regardless of circumstance, surroundings or station in life. That is no small gift.

Cindy C. Murray, award winning author of the Sophie and Scottie trilogy, uses the concept of girl power, combined with fascinating scientific concepts, to create wildly engaging works of action and adventure-based fiction that kids will find irresistible.

"My goal for this rated ‘G’ book series is to take my readers to new worlds and adventures without having to turn on a single electronic device!  A recent review by a grandmother of four expressed how excited she was to find creative books that are well written to share with her grand children.  I hear this over and over again by parents as well, which makes The Adventures of Sophie and Scottie a perfect series for ages 7 to 12 that encourages reading for a lifetime."

Murray also utilizes her award winning series of action adventure children's books to promote literacy and good citizenship. She is passionate about helping kids by sharing engaging and imaginative adventure stories with young readers. Her creative storytelling is inspired by her two daughters and by the childhood adventures she shared with her six siblings. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Cindy contributed her innovative marketing skills to several Fortune 500 companies until she made the choice to stay at home to raise her children - and to write children's books.

The Sophie and Scottie Series include three action adventure books: 'Adventures of the Monarch Mystery', 'Adventures of Something's Fishy' and 'Adventures of Sweet Tooth Rock'. The main characters, Sophie and Scottie, are 11 ½ year old twin sisters who live on a 10,000 acre sheep shearing ranch called Shear Heaven. The girls aren’t identical twins but have similar features. Their unique personalities complement each other as they share adventures and travel to exotic places.

Murray's work has won major industry awards. 'The Adventures of Sophie and Scottie Book Series' was awarded the 2017 Gold Family Choice Award. All of the books in the series have taken a Silver Mom's Choice Award. 'Sophie and Scottie's Adventures of the Monarch Mystery' won the 2016 International Book Awards Silver Medal in the Children-Adventure category, as well as qualifying as a 2015 Finalist from San Diego Book Awards for best published children's book.

Murray's upcoming author events include:

Carden Arbor View School, Upland, CA – October 27, 2017

'Sophie and Scottie's Adventures of the Monarch Mystery (The Adventures of Sophie and Scottie Book 1)' will also be listed in the Fussy Librarian's book listing on November 15, 2017.

Cindy Murray is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at cindy@cindycmurray.com. All of her books are available on Amazon. More information is available on her website at http://www.cindycmurray.com.

50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading Book Awards Accepting Votes From Public For 2017 Awards

'50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' has been called the 'People's Choice Awards' for authors of fiction and non-fiction books

'50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' awards contest is now accepting votes from the public. While most awards programs hand out awards for books, it is the ARTIST behind the book who should be the focus of the award. Most authors overcome tremendous challenges and work very hard to bring their work to market. The '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' awards contest looks for the 'story behind the story'.

An award given for a single book impacts one book only. An award given to an author impacts all the works of that author, past, present and future. As in the world of film, some awards are for best movies, others are for best actors or actresses.  Using this analogy '50 Great Writers' bestows awards upon the writer (actor/actress).

In that the contest is about the author, participants can submit an essay about their writing journey/career, their expectations as authors, a summary of their body of work and basic information about their books. Those who wish to do so may instead submit an excerpt from the book. The public at large is then invited to read these essays and decide whom to vote for.

Authors must build long-term platforms to create ongoing sales and achieve success. People buy books because of the personality BEHIND the work. A great book has very little long-term market value if the author remains relatively anonymous. It is for these reasons '50 Great Writers' focuses sharply on the real story and the personality behind the book.

Award contests must be viewed as being a marketing tool that should be an integral part of the marketing strategies designed by all authors.  It takes time to win awards, and the more awards authors win the more recognition for their work they stand to receive.

Voting is currently open for the 2017 contest. Winners will appear in the 2018 edition of '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'. Participants include, but are not limited to:

The Authors Show Launches US And Global Children, Teen, Adult Literacy Project, 'Give A Book, Get A Smile'

The new program will distribute donated books to children, teenagers and adults, both nationally and worldwide.

Low literacy is a staggering problem. According to the ProLiteracy website, children of parents with low literacy skills are more likely to get poor grades, have behavioral problems and drop out. 43% of adults with the lowest literacy levels live in poverty. In addition, an excess of 230 billion a year in health care cost is linked to low adult literacy. Danielle Hampson, Executive Producer of The Authors Show intends to bring authors together to help make a difference.

Through its newly launched “Give A Book Get A Smile” initiative, The Authors Show is calling on its large network of authors and publishing industry professionals to donate books to the project for distribution to children, teenagers and adults who are challenged with reading skills, or access to books.

"Give A Book Get A Smile" is a long-term project with multiple phases. Ms. Hampson is calling on authors to donate at least five books (fiction/non-fiction) either in the children category – age 4-12, or young adults for teens, or adult books. She especially welcomes self-help books, both in personal and business development. From a recipient standpoint, eighty percent of donated books within the USA will go to schools with a large student population of underprivileged children, troubled youth organizations, women shelters, and to the homeless community throughout the United States.  The balance of twenty percent will be earmarked for foreign distribution.

“I do volunteer work with an advanced leadership program for women in China that has a literacy project, and in my last trip to China I brought children books for them”, Hampson stated. “When I gave the books, I received such big smiles back that I immediately thought to start a project to help them, and the name 'Give A Book Get A Smile' sounded like a perfect fit. Upon my return to the U.S., with many literacy issues in our own back yard, I felt the need to also help people right here at home. In that I work in online media in the publishing industry, I knew I could leverage my 12+ years of contacts in this industry to bring this project to life.”

As more books are donated to the program, other phases will be implemented to expand the reach of the donations to local communities in all fifty states, Canada, and to more countries.  All recipients will be vetted to insure the books are needed and are indeed provided to those who do need them.

Danielle Hampson is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at danielle@theauthorsshow.com. More information about “Give A Book Get A Smile” is available at http://www.GiveABookGetASmile.com.

Hurricane Harvey Fundraising Efforts - Texas Resident Joseph Ganci, Author Of 'Gideon: The Sound and The Glory,' Makes New Spiritual Book Available For Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

Ganci, a Houston area resident, experienced the effect of the devastating hurricane firsthand and hopes to help by donating a portion of proceeds to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. He encourages others to do the same.

Hurricane Harvey stuck Texas in August of 2017. It was one of the most destructive hurricanes to ever hit the US, displacing over 30,000 people and causing billions of dollars in damage. The storm made landfall as a category 4 near Rockport, Texas, and produced 40-60 inches of rainfall as it moved through the Texas/Louisiana area. The damage was catastrophic, the economic effects are staggering, and the rebuilding and restoration efforts will take many years.

In response to the horrific damage, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Judge Ed Emmett established the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. The fund accepts tax-deductible donations for victims affected by the floods. The fund is housed at the Greater Houston Community Foundation, at 501(c)(3) public charity.

Houston area resident and author Joseph Ganci has pledged to donate 90% of book proceeds from the sale of 'Gideon: The Sound and the Glory' to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund from mid-October 2017 to Easter, 2018. He hopes that many others will join him by doing the same.

"While this may seem by some to be a small effort on the surface," Ganci stated, "the power is in the numbers. If everyone selling a product or service was to donate even a tiny percentage of their ongoing profits to this fund, the compound effect of those donations, for basic needs, temporary housing, restoration or emergency assistance, could make a real difference to everyone affected by this tragedy. We will be buying these products and services anyway, so why not make them really count for something more?"

"During the hurricane, the rain was relentless, and it was reminiscent of the typhoon season during my Vietnam combat experience. The powerful showers exploded in blinding wind-whipped sheets of fury. The rising waters came within eight feet of my ever sinking threshold door. All alone, I knelt and prayed mightily to the Lord for relief from the constant downpour. I placed my fate into His capable hands and retired to my bedchamber. I had half expected to wake up and be entirely engulfed by the rising tide. I awoke to find that my floor remained high and dry and that the flood waters had reversed its course back to the ocean. The view from my front gate was a temporary lakefront property, and that I stood upon the rock of salvation. Praise be ‘The Name’ of the Lord.

"Many were not as fortunate; my heart goes out to them. For some will be struggling for years to come - trying desperately to get their life back to normal."

From 'Gideon: The Sound and the Glory': Another bolt of lightning darkened the sky. The sun had lost its face. Missiles of rain exploded in the dust, and the heavens dropped, weighed down by the burst of fast-moving clouds. The last of the western sky had blackened, constantly lit by cascades of brilliant-white lightning flashes. The rearmost cohort of the last one hundred chariots had already filled the Kishon Wadi when a sudden blast of wind heralded the uproar from the surge of rushing waters. Sisera’s fleet of iron chariots, his anxious hosts of infantrymen, and his archers were all caught in the eddy of a rising tide. Horse hooves broke, struggling for traction in a vain attempt to climb the slippery embankment. They were all swept away, abandoned to their grisly fate, washed away in the fast-moving rapids.

In 'Gideon,' Ganci pierces the veil with a penetrating vision of long-held Bible mysteries that are far and away daring and unusual. He works within a framework of an engaging and dramatized fiction that, while exceedingly rich in detail, remains faithful to uphold spiritual principals. He bases his work on three primary pillars:

The rock-solid cornerstone is biblical history and geography.
The creative arch is revelatory in its timing and issues.
The research is concrete, firmly rooted in customs, languages, and traditions.

The result is that book lovers are transported into the very midst of ancient conflicts and come away with an entirely fresh perspective on mystical teachings found in scripture, now living lessons filled with adventure that inspires wonder yet remain practical answering the challenges of everyday life.

'Gideon: The Sound and the Glory' has received rave reviews from readers and reviewers alike. A recent reviewer stated, "Joseph Ganci’s prose is arresting, peppered with fantastic imagery and succinct descriptions of plot, characters, and setting. The themes are masterfully created, and they are woven into the story in a way that allows the reader to enjoy both the inspiration the story offers and the accompanying action. The book explores powerful spiritual and political themes, capturing the conflicts and the dynamics of life within the community of God's chosen people. Gideon: The Sound and the Glory will appeal to fans of political thrillers, adventure, and conflict-driven stories laced with intense action." Other reviewers have used phrases such as "riveting," "amazing" "deftly crafted" and "highly recommended."

Ganci has also announced he will make his book available as a fundraising tool for other associations and charities. Donors can receive an eBook version of 'Gideon' in exchange for a donation to a worthy cause. For more details, contact Joseph via email.

Joseph Ganci is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at joseph@gideonsglory.com. 'Gideon: The Sound and the Glory' is available in both print, eBook, and a superb, ethnically correct audio narration. All are available from online retailers. Selfie Film By Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein Nominated For Alice Guy-Blache Women in Cinema Award At The Golden Door International Film Festival

Dr. Holstein, a psychologist/filmmaker and originator of a unique Selfie Film concept, writes award-winning books, plays and produces short films that offer solutions to problems that impact today's teens and tweens

'Secrets, A Coming of Age, Selfie Film' by Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, recently premiered and was nominated for the Alice Guy-Blache Women in Cinema Award at the Golden Door International Film Festival in Jersey City.  Nominees were announced at the Awards Night, October 8, 2017 at The Lankmark Loew's Jersey Theatre . Dr. Holstein is the creator of the concept of The Enchanted Self and has recently taken her place as an innovator in a new film concept - the Selfie film.

"What is The Enchanted Self? It's that gut feeling that I teach people to recognize, when people begin to understand when they are in their own 'zone' of energy, a feeling of purpose, a sense of themselves as whole, happy, focused. As the New York Times reported you can learn 'How to Hack Your Brain (for $5,000)'.  Or you can, as I suggest, take time to review your own talents, strengths, potential and what gives you a sense of purpose.  This costs less and keeps you out of the danger of getting excited about someone else's paradise, rather than your own unique spot on this planet.

"My Enchanted Self concept has continued to expand in ways I never imagined five years ago.  One is the birth of the Selfie.  While most psychologists have been down on the Selfie, I see it as a marvelous tool of technology that brings into everyone's hands the capacity to be a filmmaker.  Whether you take videos of your funny cat, or keep your vacation diary in pictures and videos on your phone, you are technically a filmmaker.

"Endless potential is out there.  Is it dangerous? It can be, just as Facebook can be misleading when ads are sold that can undermine our great democracy.  But let us assume responsible behavior and see what I have done with Selfiesasfilm.com.

"When we look at what is happening now, especially in regards to the situation involving Harvey Weinstein, we see that in the film world women have played a second class role. I am determined as a director and writer in the film world to be a force that brings more women to the success levels they deserve in that world, without being bullied or pushed inappropriately.

"I have developed a new approach to filmmaking that involves a combination of smart phones and a camera crew.  The powerful short films I am making using Smart phones and a camera crew illustrate and highlight through drama the angst that our girls, tweens and teens go through in our culture. Whether it is severe anxiety, as discussed in the New York Times Magazine Section, 'Why are more American teenagers than ever suffering from severe anxiety,' or the opiod epidemic, early pregnancy, bullying, alcohol, poor self-esteem, lack of vocational direction, drugs, girls are at risk and need avenues that help to educate and elaborate their dilemmas.

"I was honored to have my film 'Secrets, A Coming of Age, Selfie Film' nominated for the Alice Guy-Blache Women in Cinema Award at the Golden Door International Film Festival on October 7, 2017.  Nominees were announced at the Awards Night at The Lankmark  Loew's Jersey Theatre in Jersey City. To be the first female director of Selfie Films aimed at a better understanding of the psychological, social and emotional needs of kids, particularly, girls, tweens and teens growing up in our society is a mission I take seriously as a psychologist and now a filmmaker.  To be linked now in this nomination with the first Woman Director in the early days of film making is meaningful and inspirational to me.

"The making of films that help girls, tweens and teens be better understood, feel better about themselves and make better decisions, utilizing camera techniques that are dramatically able to increase the emotional reactions of audiences and lead to better understanding of kid's dilemmas are a win-win for everyone."

Holstein's short films have won numerous awards and accolades. The topics and questions for discussion in the book can be used by a group of two, a parent and a child, or a group of hundreds as the universal subjects of growing up and handling tough issues are discussed.

'Falling in Love'  was an official selection at the Brightside Tavern Film Festival in Jersey City in early March, nominated for several awards, including 'Best Experimental Film' and 'Best New Jersey Short'.  It came in second place for 'Best New Jersey Short'.

Real Health Symposium, Focusing On Chronic Illness And Caregivers, To Be Held In Toronto On October 28th, 2017

The goal of the Real Health Symposium is to educate, raise awareness, create community and provide support and resources for those living with Chronic Illness and their caregivers and loved ones.

Cecile Gough is very pleased to announce that the 2017 Real Health Symposium will be held at the Women’s College Hospital in Toronto, Ontario on October 28, 2017, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The mission of this event is to educate, raise awareness, create community and provide support and resources for those living with chronic illness as well as their caregivers and loved ones.  This event will feature a number of speakers including:  Dr. Rick Sponaugle; Dr. Robert Banner, Katina Makris, homeopath; and Cecile Gough, patient advocate.

“I have created the conference I would most like to go to as a patient,” said Cecile Gough, a former oncology nurse who has become a patient advocate for those who are experiencing similar heath challenges.  For more than a decade she slipped through the cracks of the health care system in Canada until she was finally diagnosed with Late Stage Chronic Lyme Disease in 2014.  Unable to receive the appropriate care at home in Canada, Gough travelled to the Sponaugle Wellness Centre in Tampa Bay, Florida, for treatment in 2016.  When asked about the care she received in Florida, you will often hear her say “Doc [Dr. Sponaugle] gave me my life back.”

While struggling to find her way through the Canadian medical system she became determined to aid others who have suffered and who are suffering like her.  “While trying to get the care I realized I needed to do more to help others who were facing the same up-hill battle to get real health,” said Gough.  The result of that desire is the Real Health Symposium.

The day-long event will provide support and resources for those who suffer from autoimmune issues, Lyme Disease, mental illness, mold or industrial toxicity, all while raising funds for respected non-profit organizations in the community. Working with world-class experts whose lives have been touched by chronic illness, Gough believes in offering a holistic perspective of health through the Real Health Symposium.

To that end, she is bringing together the following keynote speakers:

Rick Sponaugle, M.D., is an Integrative Medicine physician who specializes in environmental medicine, tick-borne infections, and treating brain disorders. Having personally lived with mold toxicity and helping his daughter recover from Lyme disease, these experiences created the practice he has today in Florida;

Robert Banner, M.D., President of the Ontario Society of Physicians for Complementary Medicine, began his medical career as a Flight Surgeon and Diving Medical Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces.  Professional and personal reasons led Dr. Banner to a more holistic view to the practice of Functional Medicine.  An Adjunct Professor at the University of Western Ontario, Dr. Banner currently sees patients in his clinic in London, Ontario;

A graduate of Duke University and the Stillpoint School of Integrative Life Healing, Katina Makris is a seasoned Classical Homeopath and Certified Intuitive Healer.  She is an award-winning author of two books that share her ten-year triumphant journey of healing from Advanced Chronic Lyme disease.  Writing a popular health column for a decade, along with hosting the breakthrough "Lyme Light Radio Show," Makris has a loyal and dedicated following across North America and Europe; and

For Cecile Gough, the journey towards healing has been long and challenging, yet she remains determined to take all that she has learned to help others.   A popular and dynamic speaker and writer, she has been featured in national and international media to discuss the crisis of Lyme disease in Canada.  Working with politicians to improve health at all levels of government, Gough has presented twice before members of the Canadian House of Commons in Ottawa.  As the creator and producer of the Real Health Symposium, it is her life passion to help people get the answers and care that they need, while guiding them to become their own advocates in their journey back to health.

The Real Health Symposium proudly supports the Canadian Celiac Association and the G. Magnotta Foundation.

The Real Health Symposium has been made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Sponaugle Wellness Institute; Health Harmonies; IgeneX Inc.; The Big Carrot; and Terry Natural Canada.

Child Predators Can Appear To Be Like Everyone Else Says Virginia Sollars, Author Of New Book About Correctional Mental Health, 'And Some Will Triumph'

'And Some Will Triumph' is a heartbreaking and riveting look into correctional  mental health that holds exciting potential for increasing awareness through print and film media

It goes without saying that parents today face monumental challenges. One of the most terrifying dangers is child predators. While this type of criminal has always been lurking on the fringes of society, the age of social media and internet connectivity makes protecting children extremely difficult. Our kids are addicted to technology, and their use of this technology can open doors to a type of threat we've not seen before. Simultaneously, the predator's methods have become far more sophisticated with the ability to easily create a non-threatening persona, both in person and on social media. Like predators in the animal kingdom, camouflage and deception are the mechanisms whereby the child predator creates an opportunity to strike.

Virginia Sollars, author of a new book about correctional mental health, 'And Some Will Triumph', worked in the criminal justice system for many years. She recently issued a statement that compares these types of criminal to the predators we find in nature. It is a sobering call to action for parents.

"Many four legged creatures are predators," Sollars stated.  "However, the two legged ones are out there also, waiting to destroy your life, and are as real as the animals in the jungles. They watch, they stalk, and they strike."

"When I worked in the jail and these criminals were arrested, I was so sure there would be something about them that would make them stand out, letting me know their true nature. Unfortunately, it was not the case. They looked like us, normal people able to look you in the eye and smile pleasantly. There was nothing to tell me that they were different - that they were monsters."

"I remember my friend telling me of an experience she had. She was walking with her young daughter in an outside market. She was shoved into a cart, by a running boy, and when she again had her footing, she saw her daughter being led by a man to a waiting car. Luckily her screams caught the attention of someone, who immediately understood the situation and was able to grab her daughter before she was taken. Was the boy who knocked her into the cart involved? We have speculated on this for years. My gut feeling says yes."

"They will use any ruse, trying to catch you off guard, no matter how vigilant you believe yourself to be. It only takes a few seconds of you letting go of your child’s hand at an amusement center, or your eyes drifting away at a park. They will distract you and will use anything at their disposal to obtain their prey."

Virginia Sollars believes there is a real opportunity for print and film media to help create awareness of such issues in the mind of the public. As a psychiatric nurse working in the correctional system, Virginia journeyed inside the minds of the mentally ill. Her book, 'And Some Will Triumph, is a dramatic retelling of the heartbreaking situations she encountered every day. It is Virginia's fervent hope that her book will be made into a movie or television series. If she can accomplish that, the result could be record shattering. It would shine a bright light on the problem and would enlighten the public as to the mind-boggling problems law enforcement must deal with on a daily basis.

virginia sollars cover'And Some Will Triumph' relates the journey of Elizabeth, a compassionate nurse who comes to California from New York with her teenage daughter to work at the fictional Raine Correctional Facility. Elizabeth finds herself interacting with some of society’s most troubled and challenging inmates and shows how she must at times fight the system to give the best care to her patients. Elizabeth tells the stories of both the psychiatric inmates as well as the nurses who have problems in their lives as well.  Since the book is based on my professional experience, it is an insider’s look into the minds of psychiatric inmates revealing their secrets, regrets, frustrations and hopes and how they cope with their life in jail. But my book is more than just the story. It explains the many mental health disorders in such a way that people without a medical background can understand, points out the broken mental health system and describes the reasons why the mentally ill are incarcerated."

"I believe my book has great potential for a television series or a movie," Sollars said, "My book is very informative, it is written in such a way that everyone will finally understand what is means to be burdened with a psychiatric disorder, how the thought process is so different from ours and how it sometimes leads to involvement with law enforcement. My book is so different from any undertaking that has been taken before, its potential is great and I think that people will be amazed at what I have to say. I just need the right people to believe in me to get the word out. I know my book can make a difference. "

Sollars' book has received rave reviews from readers. Kirkus Reviews said the book is ….” a remarkable timeline of the treatment of mental illness in the past 40 years, and it’s a triumphant account of her boldness as a mother, nurse, and woman. At a time when mental health is in the forefront of conversations about our health care system, her story is one of hope."

One reader stated, "Absolutely the best book I’ve read in years, uncensored look into correctional mental health, patients, inmates and the professionals who deal with some of society’s most troubled criminals, their day to day struggles all interwoven within a gripping story of murder and suspense. A must read!" Another said, "Awesome story! While the story keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next, the real plight of the mental health patients in a correctional setting is heartbreaking.”

Virginia Sollars is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at virginiasollars@yahoo.com. 'And Some Will Triumph' is available at online retailers. More information is available at her website at http://www.virginiasollars.net.

About Virginia Frusteri Sollars:

Virginia Frusteri Sollars was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and became a registered nurse in 1980, working as a psychiatric nurse for most of her career. She worked in the jail system for twenty-six years, caring for and treating the mentally ill. She continues to advocate for the mentally ill though her presentations and radio shows advising people of the plight of the mentally ill.

Author Diamante Daniel Releases New Book About Climate Change, 'It Starts With A Change - Endangered Animals And Climate Change In Pennsylvania'

Diamante Daniel is 12 years old and has created a fascinating look at how climate change affects endangered species, and what we can do about it

Diamante Daniel has announced the release of 'It Starts With A Change - Endangered Animals And Climate Change In Pennsylvania'.

Climate change. What do we imagine when we hear the words? Increasing temperatures? Rising sea levels and flooded cities? Drought that causes starvation of millions of people? Many books have been written about the impact of climate change on people’s health and well-being. What is less well known is that climate change may impact animals around us, not only in some far off place but those living near us, in our home states or countries. Amongst them, the most vulnerable are those already endangered.

Diamante focuses on the precious endangered animals that live in Pennsylvania, her home state, and presents factual information regarding what will happen if climate change occurs in the PA region. She also lays out why readers should care and what they can do about it.

Diamante fully covers all the bases, including animals that live in the wetlands, grass, forests, water and caves. The endangered animals covered in the book include mammals, birds and fish.

"I love animals, and I don't want to lose any single one of them," Diamante stated. "I believe we can save all of the species, if we do what is needed."

Diamante Daniel is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at Rene_Daniel@verizon.net.  'It Starts With A Change' is available at Amazon.

About Diamante Daniel:

Diamante Daniel is a 7th grade student at the Wissahickon School District, Ambler, Pennsylvania. She published her first book, Rocks And Stones Around The World, when she was 10 years old and attended 4th grade. She is the winner, together with her sister, of the international MPACGroup Top Design Award 2016 of the Cubes in Space Program for the design of an experiment, which measures the intraocular pressure during the ascending phase of a rocket flight. Students from 22 countries participated in this competition. Her experiment was launched into space on the CIS SR-3 mission June 24, 2016 from the NASA Wallops Facility. Additional experiments designed by her were launched by a NASA stratospheric balloon from Fort Sumner, New Mexico in September 2016, and again on rocket mission in June 2017 from the NASA Wallops Facility.
