Donald Trump UN Speech Reinforces Need For US Department Of Peace - Author Frances Fuller Issues Statement

Fuller spent many years in the Middle East. She puts a face on the Middle East many Americans have not yet seen. Her award-winning memoir, 'In Borrowed Houses', gives readers a penetrating glimpse of the Middle East from the inside.

In his speech at the United Nations, President Trump stated that the United States could totally destroy North Korea. The ongoing game of political one-upmanship could put the United States and North Korea on a path to nuclear war. While most astute world leaders understand the perils of any type of nuclear conflict, it has become apparent that calm, level-headed thinking and strategizing is not employed by some of those world leaders. Frances Fuller, award winning author of 'In Borrowed Houses' spent many years living in the Middle East. She is an ardent supporter of the concept of a US Department of Peace. She recently issued a statement that clearly defines how such a body could help create peace rather than war, promote justice and reduce conflict.

"Donald Trump’s belligerent words in the United Nations have made plain our desperate need for a Department of Peace," Fuller stated.

"For months Trump and Kim Jong-un have been exchanging taunts like school-yard bullies over North Korea’s testing of nuclear weapons. And now the president in his first appearance before the United Nations, has told the world, that if the United States needed to defend ourselves or our allies, we would ‘totally destroy North Korea.’

"It is possible that many Americans, accustomed to Trump’s exaggerations, don’t take this literally. But my guess is that the people of North Korea do, because they know that during the 1950s war on the Korean peninsula most of the cities of North Korea were obliterated by American bombing. That is the kind of thing that people don’t forget, and Trump’s statement will only remind them.

"And Kim Jong-un, obsessed with his own security, believes it. Did America not recently destroy two regimes, in Iraq and Libya? Could she have done this, would she have done this, if Iraq and Libya had had nuclear weapons?

"And vital to us is the question, does Trump believe what he says?

"And how shall we protect the world from lone individuals in places of power?"

Frances Fuller proposes A Department of Peace, authorized to lead our government in the pursuit of peace. In a survey box on her website, she says:

“Building armies to defeat whatever enemies come is a reasonable response to tensions in the world. Making friends instead of enemies is even better. Solving problems before people lose hope is better. Promoting justice, acting justly, erasing oppression, listening, apologizing, respecting, opening doors, sharing essential commodities, resolving neighborhood conflicts, all of these are preferable to war. All of these are deterrents to war. And cheaper. And doable.

“The catch is that they mostly have to be done before a crisis occurs, and nobody does them unless they are someone’s job.

“Peace, like war, is a responsibility that has to be assigned.

“That’s why we need a Department of Peace with a place in the President’s Cabinet.”

The full statement and a survey regarding the US Department of Peace, is available at Fuller's website at http://www.inborrowedhouseslebanon.com.

Frances Fuller puts a face on the Middle East many Americans have not yet seen. Her award-winning memoir, 'In Borrowed Houses', gives readers a penetrating glimpse of the Middle East from the inside.

The Syrian occupation of Lebanon during that country’s long civil war is part of Fuller’s experience in the Middle East, related in her memoir. Told in short episodes, Fuller’s book reveals the alienation, confusion and courage of civilians in the Lebanese civil war, introducing to the reader a variety of real people with whom the author interacts: editors, salesmen, neighbors, refugees, soldiers, missionaries, lawyers, shepherds, artists, students. With these people she works, studies, plays games, prays, laughs and cries, all to the accompaniment of gunfire. Together these small stories tell what war is like for civilians caught on a battlefield, and they create the impression of the Lebanese as a fun-loving, witty, patient and resilient people. Fuller's stories compose not a political history, but a historical document of a time and a place.

'In Borrowed Houses' has taken three industry awards. Frances Fuller was the Grand Prize winner in the 2015 '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' Book Awards. It received the bronze medal for memoir in the Illumination Book Awards in 2014. Northern California Publishers and Authors annually gives awards for literature produced by residents of the area. In 2015 'In Borrowed Houses' received two prizes: Best Non-fiction and Best Cover.

Critics have praised ‘In Borrowed Houses.’ A judge in the 22nd Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards called 'In Borrowed Houses' “ . . a well written book full of compassion . . . a captivating story . . . ”. Another reviewer described the book as “Wise, honest, sensitive, funny, heart-wrenching . . .”. Colin Chapman, lecturer in Islamic Studies at the Near East School of Theology in Beirut said, “ . . . western Christians and Middle Eastern Christians need to read this story…full of remarkable perceptiveness and genuine hope.”

Frances Fuller is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at frances0516@att.net. The full text of her latest article is available at her website. Fuller's book is available at Amazon and other book retailers. A free ebook sample from 'In Borrowed Houses' is available at http://www.payhip.com/francesfuller. Frances Fuller also blogs on other issues relating to the Middle East on her website at http://www.inborrowedhouseslebanon.com.

Award Winning Children's Book Author Cindy C Murray Believes Recent Female Viking Discovery Lends Support To Girl Power

Murray utilizes girl power and science to promote literacy in Sophie And Scottie action adventure trilogy.

A recent article on the National Geographic website by Michael Greshko presented a story many people found surprising. The grave of a great Viking warrior was unearthed in Sweden. The gravesite contained all of the artifacts that might be attributed to a powerful Viking warrior. The surprise? The Viking warrior was a woman.

Some of the archaeologists could not bring themselves to believe that the bones found in the grave were those of a female. A DNA test was performed. That study, published in the American Journal of Physical Anthropology, proved conclusively the skeleton was female. It seems even some archaeologists still hold some gender bias.

Is "girl power" merely a recent "trendy" fad? Or could it be that females have always been equally capable, thus destroying our long held beliefs and cultural biases?

Cindy C. Murray, award winning author of the Sophie and Scottie trilogy, uses the concept of girl power, combined with fascinating scientific concepts, to create wildly engaging works of action and adventure-based fiction that kids will find irresistible. She believes that overcoming gender bias must start with teaching young people these long held, discriminatory beliefs simply don't hold up to scrutiny.

"What a great article (discovery) by Michael Greshko. It aligns with my main characters as being strong females who love a challenge with aspects of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) in each book.  Children love to read about kids like Sophie and Scottie who are courageous and curious, which helps me to achieve my writing goals to keep kids reading and promote literacy."

Murray also utilizes her award winning series of action adventure children's books to promote literacy and good citizenship. She is passionate about helping kids by sharing engaging and imaginative adventure stories with young readers. Her creative storytelling is inspired by her two daughters and by the childhood adventures she shared with her six siblings. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Cindy contributed her innovative marketing skills to several Fortune 500 companies until she made the choice to stay at home to raise her children - and to write children's books.

The Sophie and Scottie Series include three action adventure books: 'Adventures of the Monarch Mystery', 'Adventures of Something's Fishy' and 'Adventures of Sweet Tooth Rock'. The main characters, Sophie and Scottie, are 11 ½ year old twin sisters who live on a 10,000 acre sheep shearing ranch called Shear Heaven. The girls aren’t identical twins but have similar features. Their unique personalities complement each other as they share adventures and travel to exotic places.

Murray's work has won major industry awards. 'The Adventures of Sophie and Scottie Book Series' was awarded the 2017 Gold Family Choice Award. All of the books in the series have taken a Silver Mom's Choice Award. 'Sophie and Scottie's Adventures of the Monarch Mystery' won the 2016 International Book Awards Silver Medal in the Children-Adventure category, as well as qualifying as a 2015 Finalist from San Diego Book Awards for best published children's book.

Murray's upcoming author events include:

Poway Countryside Barn store, Poway CA: 1:30 to 5:00pm every Wednesday and Friday in September 2017.

Orange County Children’s Book Festival at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA: 9:30 to 1:00 Sunday October 1, 2017

"Reading about strong females isn’t new, but it is refreshing to see throughout history the important roles these women have had.  I emphasize this importance with my characters as good citizens who navigate through their adventures by empowering themselves while solving each mystery."

Cindy Murray is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at cindy@cindycmurray.com. All of her books are available at Amazon. More information is available at her website at http://www.cindycmurray.com.

Author Gina Iafrate Announces New Coming Of Age Novel, 'The Girl From The Cornfield'

In the tradition of writers like John Grisham and Danielle Steele, Gina's extraordinary story lines reveal the richness of the human experience told through the eyes of finely drawn characters.

Author Gina Iafrate has announced the release of a new coming of age novel, 'The Girl From The Cornfield'. Gina Iafrate writes sweeping family sagas that allow readers to travel the globe without leaving home. Like fine pieces of music, her books are layered, providing readers with intricately formed mental images, punctuated by dramatic movements. In the tradition of writers like John Grisham and Danielle Steele, Gina's extraordinary story lines reveal the richness of the human experience told through the eyes of finely drawn characters.

It is 1950 and Giuliana Ferrante is growing up in a sleepy town deep in the Italian mountains. Her young life is rocked to its core by a vicious attack that shatters the peaceful existence that she and many around her have always taken for granted.Giuliana, determined to make a future for herself, flourishes by working tirelessly toward her education, securing a legal degree and ultimately a successful position in the business world. She conquers all with kindness and love, managing to rise above the painful memories of her youth. This sweeping, inspirational tale hurdles across time, countries, and characters as it explores how love can heal, reconcile, and restore.

Iafrate is also the author of 'The English Professor'. In that book, Andrew Robertson, an introverted, middle-aged professor leaves his unremarkable London life to embark on a journey to Sicily where strangers welcome him kindly. In this Mediterranean setting, he develops a burning infatuation for another man’s wife. Falling into each other’s arms, Andrew and Francesca both satisfy the longings they have felt all their adult lives. Their union results in a child. But Andrew must go back to London and Francesca must protect herself, Andrew and their child from the violent reach of her husband.

'The English Professor' was a finalist in the Book Excellence Awards'. Gina has received praise from readers and reviewers alike. One stated, "A fascinating tale of victory of over injustice where love , grit and determination conquers all." Another said, "A captivating story, hooked after the first chapter and I couldn't put it down." Another stated, "A wonderful love story, a struggle through injustice and enjoyment of victory. Loved it."

Gina makes frequent live appearances in the Niagara area. Upcoming events include:

Chapters Indigo, Missisauga, Ont., Saturday, September 30-2017, 1:00 pm. to 4:00 pm

Gina's upcoming books include 'Releases From my Soul: A Collection of Anthologies' and 'Bestowed By Love And Splendor', a breathtaking story of a broken-hearted wife and mother who is unexpectedly whisked away into a blissful world, away from the routinely tormented life she endures, far across the ocean to the exotic island of Sardinia.

Parents, Grandparents And Teachers Can Celebrate World Peace Day On September 21, 2017, By Sharing Smart Tools For Life With Young Children

Smart Tools for Life specializes in books and music to guide children to create peace through social emotional learning and conflict resolution skills during their formative years. Its campaign, “I STOP for Peace,” compiles and celebrates the individual acts children do to make the world a better place.

September 21 is the day schools and homes across the world will sit down with their children and talk about peace. According to the United Nations website, the International Day of Peace this year ". . . will focus on engaging and mobilizing people throughout the world to show support for refugees and migrants."

“Those who are not suffering from a war-torn environment can sometimes push aside this day as irrelevant for them. However, so many of our actions have world-wide implications. We need to remember we can do something in all communities to bring people together and enhance their safety and dignity,” said Julie Penshorn of Smart Tools for Life. “For young children, we can introduce them to child-friendly conflict resolution and peacemaking materials.”

The Smart Tools for Life project, “I STOP for Peace”, focuses on drawing attention to the peaceful conflict resolution techniques and acts of kindness and caring already present in the child’s world. It invites children to share a story of how they worked out a problem with someone, or spent time playing with the new child in school, or had a child from a different country or background over to their house, or brainstormed a solution to a problem that worked for all.

Celebrated across the globe every year as the International Day of Peace, the goal of World Peace Day is to bring nations and people together. The theme for 2017 is "Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All". The upcoming book, the second in the Barnyard Buddies series, “The Barnyard Buddies Meet a Refugee” will make this topic relevant to all young children as they watch the unhappy, lonely dog find acceptance and purpose in the group of Barnyard Buddies.

At the Smart Tools For Life website, people can find out more about this book and others, and submit their children’s stories. Smart Tools for Life is compiling them and will share them in an upcoming book. Those contributing to the book will be sent a free copy.

World Peace Day is especially timely and relevant this year, because the subject of immigration and the refugee crisis have become a political battleground in the US, effectively splitting the population into two camps - those for and those against. It is urgent that we, as a society of global citizens, learn to resolve our conflicts, on this topic and others, in ways that enhance dignity, respect, and safety for all involved, rather than pursue ways that divide us.

But how do we do that? As Gandhi said, “We must begin with the children.” Smart Tools for Life creates children’s books, children’s music and other state-of-the-art resources that teach children how to problem solve in creative, respectful, and peaceful ways. They provide practical and inspiration tools rooted in the latest concepts in neuroscience, social and emotional education, and environmental education. The materials are catchy and fun, and are a great way to introduce young learners to the idea that developing these skills and caring for themselves, others, and the planet, is not only fun and engaging, it’s a normal part of their learning process.

By sharing these tools with children, influencers help kids become the leaders of tomorrow, capable of co-creating a culture we all want to live in.

“The children easily grasp the skills for conflict resolution and anger management when they are presented in an engaging story like 'The Barnyard Buddies STOP For Peace'. They will refer to the Barnyard Buddies long after the story is read in the classroom or home,” said Penshorn.

“I heard a wonderful story from a parent who told me they went to the zoo after reading the book and the four-year-old child said, ‘Oh look! The zebras are not sharing their shelter! They need to have Mrs. McCloud (the peacemaking owl in the story) help them learn to be peacemakers.’

“Everybody remembers the Dr. Seuss stories they read to their children, or heard as children,” continues Penshorn. “That’s because this type of story sinks deeply into the hearts and minds of kids, often for life. At Smart Tools for Life, we create similar stories: fun, engaging, rhyming, with great art, that have a message. We recognize it's not just what we teach that matters, but how we teach.”

Author Julie Penshorn, MBC, is a co-director of the nonprofit, Growing Communities for Peace and director of it’s Smart Tools for Life project. Penshorn co-authored an earlier curriculum on conflict resolution, complete with hands-on-learning tools, that is in use in over 13,000 locations. Now, she’s focusing her unique talents on children’s books and music and a blog-based approach to supporting peace literacy and building a culture of peace.

Smart Tools for Life's product line includes kids books and music, conflict resolution cubes and wearables. There is also a free, downloadable coloring page for kids, based on the flagship children's book, “The Barnyard Buddies Stop For Peace”.

Author, Julie Penshorn is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at julie@smarttoolsforlife.com. More information about the books, music and other products is available on the website at http://www.smarttoolsforlife.com.

About Smart Tools for Life:

Smart Tools for Life is an ongoing project of the nonprofit, Growing Communities for Peace. It serves parents and educators by providing children’s books and children’s music, and makes it easy and engaging to bring state-of-the-art social skills like peacemaking, peacekeeping, and peacebuilding, to young children, thereby encouraging more harmonious, sustainable relationships with others and the planet.

Miraculous Visions And Miracle Healings Are Common Occurrences For Pat Chalfant, Author Of 'Spirit Lights'

Oregon Spiritualist Medium Pat Chalfant's amazing psychic gifts have helped hundreds of individuals worldwide.

For most people, miracles in the forms of healings or visions are extraordinary events. For Pat Chalfant, they happen frequently. So much so that she has incorporated these kinds of events into her work and her life. Pat is a Certified CARE Medium who now gives psychic readings and teaches mediumship classes. Pat recently related several of these events.

"Dr. Brumet had barely finished his final comments," Pat stated, "in the closing lecture for the weekend seminar titled 'Meditation in the Noble Silence.'  Suddenly, without planning to, I found myself on my feet hurrying up the aisle toward the front of the auditorium where Dr. Brumet stood.

"It seemed unreal to me that I was actually on my way up that aisle to tell him what I hadn’t intended to tell him at all. It was something I had seen in one of his meditation sessions earlier in the week.  I decided on the run to just start at the top and tell him what had appeared.  It was quite surprising to me and seemed quite mystical, but I couldn’t imagine that it would mean anything to him.  Nevertheless, as I suddenly reached his side I said, 'Hello, Dr. Brumet.  I’m the mother of Beth Ullman who’s been singing in your presentation and I am an intuitive. As I was watching you yesterday during the meditation portion of the day, I suddenly saw a large circle of white material over your right shoulder which opened up in the middle and became donut-shaped, then inside the doughnut hole, I saw a meditator sitting cross-legged.  I saw it for only a few moments, then the donut crumbled and disappeared.'

"Immediately, he said, 'Very interesting!  A few years ago, when photographs were taken involving me, that image was seen in the photos.  What do you think it means?'  I really had thought he might not reply to it at all, so I wasn’t prepared to venture an interpretation.

"Little did I know that there would be more mystical revelations before the weekend was done.  Remarkable as the image of the cross-legged meditator was and Dr. Brumet’s explanation of its dramatic association with him, there was more to come.

"We left early the next morning for KC and what turned out to be a really exciting Sunday morning in the church where my daughter was scheduled to sing.   The band that worked there every Sunday morning was warming up and it was clear they would be wonderful for Beth to work with, but I could hardly pay attention to the whole thing because, as the old joke goes, 'my feet were killing me.'  I had walked long distances on the Unity Village campus where the classes were held and I had worn sandals when I should have worn walking shoes.  I was trying to conceal that I was really limping a lot.  As Beth went straight into the sanctuary to rehearse with the band, I hobbled into the book store that was right across from the sanctuary.

"The manager greeted me as I entered saying, 'Hello, just let me know if I can help you find anything.  My goodness, that’s a bad limp you have there.  I do some healing.  Would you like me to see if I could help you with that?'  I gratefully said that if it wasn’t too much trouble, I would love that.  She told me to go into the office that was just off the book store and wait for her while she rang up another customer’s sale.

"It was only a matter of minutes before she came in and asked me to show her where the pain was and I indicated it was my right foot.   She explained she would start by holding her hands around my head and then she would end up at the floor working on the foot directly.  She lowered the lights and began by holding her hands behind my head.  I felt, as she worked, that even with my eyes closed, I could feel her energy and knew exactly where her hands were and what they were doing.  Later she bent down to the floor and moved her hands in paddling motions around the foot in question.  I began to feel something changing, it seemed there was less pain,  then I became so lulled by what was happening that I felt myself pleasantly, peacefully drifting away.

"When she came to a stop with the healing, the lights came back on and she asked me, 'How does that feel now?'  I opened my eyes, wiggled my toes, stood up, walked on the foot and was amazed.  The pain wasn’t completely gone, but the foot was seriously much better.  I was hardly limping.  I was pretty much healed.  My thanks were profuse.  I asked her how she had learned to do this kind of healing.  She said, 'I lived in England when my children were small and one day when I picked them up after school, my son’s teacher said that my son had been hurt on the school playground but was fine now because she had healed him.  I wanted to know what she meant.  She demonstrated the technique and I imitated what she did until she said I had got it right.  From that time on, I would just heal the kids with that simple technique every time they got hurt.  It’s really effective.'

"I might have stayed and talked with her, but the service was about to start.  So I walked over to the sanctuary happy to be without a noticeable limp and in a short while, was thankfully singing a familiar hymn to the accompaniment of the extraordinary church band. But the miracles weren’t over yet.

"As the minister got into her sermon, it turned out to be about healing.  She told a story about a physical healing that had happened to her and as she began to speak about that healing, I recalled Dr. Brumet telling about how he started having a serious pain in his body as he sat in the cross-legged way during a Meditation in the Noble Silence years before when he was a student.  The students were always urged never to leave the meditative position until the leader dismissed everyone.  He felt the pain becoming unbearable but he was determined that he would stay in the proper position no matter what happened.  He mentally gritted his teeth and hoped for help, until suddenly, he felt the pain go away.  The pain simply disappeared and there was no obvious reason for it going.

"The minister’s story reflected that same sudden change from pain to healing and as she said what had happened to her and I recalled what Dr. Brumet said had happened to him, I felt the last part of the pain and stiffness in my foot simply melt away.  I knew positively, without even trying to walk on it, that the pain and stiffness had gone completely now.  I knew it was happening because I could feel 'something' move through me that moved the last of the discomfort out of me as the 'something' left."

Pat's inspirational book, 'Spirit Lights a Path to Mediumship', explains how Pat, a real skeptic regarding such matters, developed mediumship abilities and now lives a life transformed by the spiritual. The book has 8 5-star reviews.  Mediumship is a controversial issue and Pat understands this, but she also believes that credible mediumship holds the promise of real benefits for mankind that have not been fully explored.

She has written a column on parapsychology and interviewed Hollywood stars and the psychics who read for them for a national newspaper. Other topics she’s taught and written about are: past life therapy, death and dying, the Edgar Cayce work, the Cathars, and Spiritual healing.

The Association for Past Life Research and Therapies newsletter published a series of her interviews with psychiatrists, psychologists, and hypnotherapists who were all west coast pioneers of past life therapy. She also teaches internationally online and intermittently hosts an online Spiritualist circle, Spirit Lights Chapel.

Pat offers one-on-one client readings arranged via email, and offers classes in mediumship.  She hosts a YouTube channel that offers information on mediumship.  All are now available at her site.

Pat's online courses are exactly like the ones she teaches regularly in a classroom setting in Portland, Oregon. These classes are held online so that anyone can take part no matter where they might be in the world.  Some students receive one-on-one, private instruction and others share instruction with a group of students.

Private psychic readings can be done over the phone and can be scheduled by email.

Pat is a singer/songwriter. Three of her hymns are in the National Spiritualist Association of Churches hymn book. Many more of her songs are in her “Spirit Lights Song Book.”  She offers a program as a fund raiser, singing and playing her own songs, illustrating how she became a medium.

Pat Chalfant is currently appearing on The Authors Show. Her interview is available now at The Authors Show site. 'Spirit Lights a Path to Mediumship' is available at her website and at Amazon. Charlottesville And The Jewish Struggle with Hatred, Prejudice, And Violence - Joseph Ganci, Author Of New Spiritual Book, 'Gideon: The Sound And The Glory,' Issues Statement

In Ganci's innovative and highly praised novel, book lovers find themselves in the very midst of ancient conflicts, only to be swept away with an entirely fresh perspective on mystical teachings found in scripture - now living lessons - filled with action and adventure.

Charlottesville served as a demonstration - of two very different kinds. First, there was a show by Nazis. In America. In 2017. Could we ever unsee those wild-eyed demonstrators, marching through town with the chants of "Jews will never replace us" and "Seig Heil" echoing through the streets? Certainly, Hitler would have been proud.

It was also a smack-in-the-face, an evident demonstration that things have not really changed in thousands of years. The struggles of the Jewish people did not begin, nor did they end with Nazi Germany. It began many centuries before. It continues to this day.

Charlottesville showed us that we, even in the year 2017, are still whistling in the graveyard of unrealized human potential. Joseph Ganci, the author of 'Gideon, The Sound, And The Glory,' recently issued a statement that shows us very little social progress is evident in the last three thousand years.

"Israel, which today is represented by the last organized tribe," Ganci stated. "Judah, or commonly known as the Jews. They have survived as a people over the course of four millennia. The Jewish community has been the mainstay of acceptance and tolerance, and a corner stone of the highest ideals of democratic virtues-especially in the realm of religious freedom of expression. The Jews were and are stalwart defenders of the civil rights movement. Why are we allowing our fellow citizens and veterans forced to suffer violence and hatred? If we do not stand up in such opposition are we all but giving a passive permission? Are we not in fact heaping upon them unwarranted fear and misgiving, for both them and their children? These are prevalent and unfortunate attitudes. We even have to look past the Holocaust, past Shakespeare, and to their very roots in ancient history. Israel is God's chosen people, and the glory of God is intelligence.  I believe that the divine spark of intellect is the Hebrew legacy. Knowledge is power, and so the Jews are feared, mistrusted, and mistreated - making the ignorant arrogant, and violently vicious. This attitude is always spearheaded by a cruel tyrant with a low self-esteem out to prove that he is all-powerful. In other words, we wrestle against spiritual wickedness in high places."

"The king spiced his political courting with the enticement of glory and spoil, saying, 'I predict a beneficial outcome of lasting victory to our joint venture. This campaign will ensure the complete domination of our common foe so that Israel as a military force will be no more. We will gain the free labor of slaves, the one essential component necessary for the expansion of our empire.' The princes of Midian nodded in agreement, encouraging the Jabin to continue spinning his web of conspiracy. 'We could make secure, once and for all, the fertile valley of Jezreel. With its plentiful bounty, we could supply many ranks of iron wagons, feeding their legions of swordsmen, spearmen, and archers. This strategic center-place of strength is like the hub of a wheel, the spokes of which extend out to the tribes in the north and those to the south. We could easily wreak havoc in all the unorganized Hebrew tribes and, once again, enslave them.'

"We will return them to the familiar misery of their slavery, and those who refuse the rod and the yoke will be readily put to the sword—man, woman, or child. This will surely put an end to their growth as a nation and will bring them back into line so that we can bend them to our will now - and for all-time.”

'Gideon: The Sound and the Glory' has received rave reviews from readers and reviewers alike. A recent reviewer stated, "Joseph Ganci’s prose is arresting, peppered with fantastic imagery and succinct descriptions of plot, characters, and setting. The themes are masterfully created, and they are woven into the story in a way that allows the reader to enjoy both the inspiration the story offers and the accompanying action. The book explores powerful spiritual and political themes, capturing the conflicts and the dynamics of life within the community of God's chosen people. Gideon: The Sound and the Glory will appeal to fans of political thrillers, adventure, and conflict-driven stories laced with intense action." Other reviewers have used phrases such as "riveting," "amazing" "deftly crafted" and "highly recommended."

Ganci has also announced he will make his book available as a fundraising tool for like-minded associations and charities. Donors can receive an eBook version of 'Gideon' in exchange for a donation to a worthy cause. For more details, contact Joseph via email.

Joseph Ganci is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at joseph@gideonsglory.com. Suicide Before Age 13 - Positive Psychologist Barbara Becker Holstein Helps Teens Understand And Deal With Emotional Turmoil

Dr. Holstein, a psychologist/filmmaker and originator of a unique Selfie Film concept, writes award-winning books, plays and produces short films that offer solutions to problems that impact today's teens and tweens

A recent article on the CNN website entitled "Suicides under age 13: One every 5 days" presented a statistic that is not only sobering - it is frankly terrifying. According to the article 1,309 children between the ages of 5 and 12 committed suicide from 1999 through 2015.

What does this mean? It means we must collectively do something. Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, Positive Psychologist, award-winning author and pioneer of the selfie film concept helps teens, tween and parents understand and deal with the emotional turmoil that can lead to anguish, mental stress and, in extreme cases, suicide.

"Suicide at any age is a terrible waste of a human being," Dr. Holstein stated, "but suicides of children 13 and under is almost unimaginable.  Yet it is happening in our society.  In addition to the CNN piece, another headline stated recently: '13 year old boy wants to commit suicide after yearbook bullying'.  Fortunately, he was saved in time.  How can these actual or near encounters with death for young children be so frequent in our society?

"Each case has many reasons why a child reaches that terrible emotional point where living no longer matters.  For some children it is the bullying that takes place in the school yard, on the school bus, in back yards and even in the classroom.  For others it a combination of emotional problems and family stresses.

"As a positive psychologist constantly looking for ways to help children and adults live fulfilling lives, lives of purpose and meaning, I have ventured into many arenas including websites, radio shows, TV shows, books, plays, and now Selfie Films.  All have served a purpose and brought information and education and I believe inspiration to the public about how to have better mental health.

"However, of all my endeavors, it is the concept of #selfiesasfilm that I believe has the most potential to help kids and adults prevent and better understand the emotional turmoil that can lead to self destruction at its most extreme forms and the needless anguish in less extreme circumstances.

"This is because #selfiesasfilm are a way to take what millions of kids and adults are doing on a daily basis anyway, i.e. the video functions of their cell phones, and end up with an intimacy of feeling that the cell phone allows both the giver and the receiver.  The product could be simply one child telling the world that bullying has hurt her or a narrative film such as I am making, in which the 'girl' (based on my books, 'The Truth' and 'Secrets') gets a chance again and again to film herself and speak her mind and emotions.  Whether that video is then uploaded to a social media site, sent to a friend, sent to a stranger or just a new form of diary is for the viewer to ponder.  Also for the viewer to ponder are the many powerful psychological subjects brought up in my films induce discussion and thought after viewing the film.

"Psychologists understand that if people take the time to process and understand issues, dilemmas, problems, deep feelings, hurts, etc. then less tragedies will happen.  We learn and we change.  This is the gift of being human. I am excited, both as a Positive Psychologist and a filmmaker, to create films that are set up to dramatically encourage the beginnings of change.  As for the horror of suicide in kids -  Kids who are understood and helped and protected way before dark thoughts and feelings settle in don't commit suicide.

"I'm excited to announce that 'Secrets, A Coming of Age, Selfie Film' is an Official Selection of the Golden Door International Film Festival and will be premiered in Jersey City on October 5, 2017.

"Also, 'The Truth, A Short Film' is an Official Selection of the Roselle Park Shorts. Film Festival and will be shown September 23rd. 'The Truth' is now available to families, schools, libraries, etc. to stream.  It is distributed by Cinecosmos.net which brings a universe of diverse independent content right to consumers. Cinecosmos specializes in historical, medical, parody, and psychological storylines.

"Finally, we have started our countdown calendar to begin filming my newest #Selfiesasfilm film, tentatively called 'Help From Beyond, A Coming of Age Selfie Film'.  In this film, the 'girl' is now 15.  Megan Brown is playing her once again.  The themes are amazing and right on target with today's issues, including bullying, drugs, and more."

Holstein's short films have won numerous awards and accolades. 'The Truth - A Short Film' premiered at the Garden State Film Festival and its song, 'On The Edge of Something New' won the award as the best pop song of 2016. The short two minute film by Dr. Holstein, 'The Truth, A Short Short Film', premiered at FilmOneFest in July. The film was chosen as an Official Selection in the Chain Film Festival held in Manhattan on August 13, 2016. The film was also selected by the Jersey City International Television and Film Festival (JCITFF), and was shown on November 5, 2016 at the Jersey City International Television and Film Festival. 'The Truth - A Short Film' was officially selected for the Golden Door International Film Festival held in September 2016.  Recently, it was shown at The Grove Film Festival in Jersey City and on May 21, 2017, the shorter version was shown at The Hang On To Your Shorts Film Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey. 'The Truth - A Short Film' was an official selection for the virtual Female Filmmakers Film Festival held on the web.  There was a public voting of favorite films and 'The Truth' came in 12th of 92 films.

The second film, 'Falling in Love, A Coming of Age, Selfie Film, is detailed in a new ebook: 'A Selfie Film - Falling In Love' by Dr. Holstein. This ebook details many of the issues and stories behind the creation of Dr. Holstein's "selfie films", which utilize cutting edge New Media technology. These films are Selfie Films assisted by a professional camera crew, resulting in an intensity and intimacy of performance. The topics and questions for discussion in the book can be used by a group of two, a parent and a child, or a group of hundreds as the universal subjects of growing up and handling tough issues are discussed.

'Falling in Love'  was an official selection at the Brightside Tavern Film Festival in Jersey City in early March, nominated for several awards, including 'Best Experimental Film' and 'Best New Jersey Short'.  It came in second place for 'Best New Jersey Short'.

'Falling in Love' was an official selection also at The Hang On To Your Shorts Film Festival in Asbury Park on May 21, 2017.  It was nominated for several awards, including Best Experimental Film, and Best Concept Film.  Megan Brown, a high school freshman, who stars in 'Falling in Love' received the 'Rising Star Award' for her acting performance in 'Falling in Love' at this Festival.

On June 19, 2017, at 7:00 PM, 'The Truth', and 'Falling in Love' was shown at the Monmouth County District Library in Shrewsbury, followed by a talk and Q&A led by Dr. Holstein.  Megan Brown, the star of 'Falling in Love' spoke alongside Dr. Holstein about making the film and how exciting and emotionally boosting it was for her to be able to take charge of her scenes and redo them in privacy when she wasn't satisfied.

Recently Dr. Holstein attended for the sixth time, Author's Day at the Ocean Township Intermediate School where she presented film excerpts from both 'The Truth' and 'Falling in Love' to sixth graders.  They were able to watch at the same time, yet separately on their tablets. Comments included how genuine the girl's emotions were, how parents can't always be there to protect or understand, how hard it is to move to a new town, the real issues of having a crush, and suggestions as to how we can handle problems.

Dr Holstein presented her Selfiesasfilm concept at the American Psychological Association meetings in early August at a Symposium: Novel Directions: Novel Directions: Four Practicing Psychologists' Atypical Pursuits.  The audience watched her film,'The Truth, A Short, Short Film' and the 30 second trailer to her newest film, 'Secrets, A Coming of Age, Selfie Film'. On the panel also were Dr. Russell M. Holstein, Dr. Lauren Behrman, and Dr. Elaine Rodino.

Dr. Holstein requests that any verified charitable organization interested in raising funds contact her via email. She is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at drbarbara@enchantedself.com . Both the film and the ebook are available at http://www.payhip.com/drbholstein. All of her books are available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and all other online retailers. Mackey is the first African-American candidate for Mayor in Roswell, New Mexico's history. If elected she will be the first female mayor in that city. She has pledged to fight to make Roswell a safer and more progressive community and to work cooperatively to create partnerships that move Roswell forward economically and socially.

Councilor Natasha M. Mackey has announced her candidacy for mayor of Roswell, New Mexico. She is the first African-American woman to run for the office of Mayor. Mackey formally announced her candidacy on Sunday, August 27, 2017.

Mackey intends to focus her efforts to reduce crime, promote education, encourage business growth and hopes to work to advance the community in all areas.

Author David Michael Palladino Announces Release Of New Inspirational Book, 'Adriana Corderu, Western Odyssey'

David Michael Palladino writes inspirational fiction. His works address important ideals and values. He utilizes engaging works of fiction to accomplish that goal.

Author David Michael Palladino has announced the release of his latest inspirational book, 'Adriana Corderu - Western Odyssey'.

For Palladino, 'Make America Great Again' is not just a slogan. It instead is a concept that forms the core of everything he writes. He knows that this idea holds the power to bring all Americans together. He provides a vision of America in his works of fiction that, while based on historical events, also lays out a rock solid platform of American ideals and values.

The new book, 'Adriana Corderu - Western Odyssey', is the second book in his series and continues where the first book in the series left off. In the second book, readers will come to know a whole new cast of characters as Adriana continues her journey as she experiences the refugee camps of Italy and comes to know Italian culture with a new family even while under the yoke of the Romanian Securitate, which is still trying to abduct her and bring her back to Eastern Europe. Readers will go with her into the cauldron that was New York City where the only safe place to be was where the Italian Cosa Nostra ruled and will then experience the wonder of the Laurel Highlands of Southwestern Pennsylvania and the rugged big-hearted people who live there.

Adriana experiences heartbreaking loss and the wonders of new love. Readers can learn with her as she remembers her sister’s revelations about America’s regular military, to include units like the 82nd Airborne Division, the 1st Cavalry Division, and the 101st Air Cavalry Screaming Eagles. Readers can then witness the heat of her emotions when she, for the first time comes into contact with men of the US Army Ranger Battalions. Adriana comes to know these hard men and learns from them of the dramatic differences and contrasts between the US regular military and the units of the US Special Operations Command and Joint Special Operations Command. Readers will be fascinated with units such as the Army Rangers and Green Berets, the Navy SEALS, and other units that make up the US Special Operations Division to include units from the Air Force and Marines. Readers will learn what really happened during Operation Urgent Fury on the island of Grenada in October, 1983 and of the US Military of the “Reagan Era.” The story of Adriana’s Western Odyssey will not only entertain, but will also educate and uplift.

Palladino teaches, through his works of fiction, important ideals and values. As a former U.S. Army Ranger, former High School Phys-Ed & Health Teacher and Coach, and founder of “Palladino Martial Arts”, he understands the significance of instilling these all-important ideals and values in people. Both of his books help communicate freedom's true meaning to a broad audience. For this reason it will appeal to parents, grandparents and educators and those who are old enough to remember what America used to be. Palladino deftly paints a picture of America as she really was during the Cold War. He shows us clearly why American freedom and American values held such appeal for many oppressed people in other parts of the world.

'Adriana Corderu - Quest for Freedom' is the first book in the series. During the first Cold War the world revolved around the conflict between the theologies of communism and democracy. The two main protagonists in this conflict were the United States in the West, and the Soviet Union in the East. As Eastern Bloc leaders began to tighten restrictions in the lives of their people, commensurate with their increase in power, there began to emerge, in the East, a group of young people, hard and idealistic, adventurous and courageous. These would become the heroes of the movement of their time. These were the brave young souls who, with inspiration from President Reagan, began to break down the Iron Curtain. The escape from Soviet Communism and the quest for freedom is the theme of 'Quest for Freedom'. Set in the Cold War era, the book is the engaging story of Adriana Corderu and her quest to obtain freedom by escaping the Iron Curtain.

'Quest for Freedom' has received rave reviews. One reviewer stated, "More native born Americans need to know this story and more importantly appreciate our country as she did." Another said, "The readers become engrossed immediately in Palladino's dynamic effervescent style."

David Palladino is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at inspirationalbookauthor@yahoo.com. Both books are available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Rosedog Books. More information, including samples of his work, is available at Palladino’s website at http://www.inspirationalbookauthor.com.

Cindy C Murray, Award Winning Author Of Action Adventure Children's Book Trilogy, Announces 2017 Gold Family Choice Award

Murray is passionate about sharing engaging and imaginative stories with young readers. She uses engaging action adventure children's books to promote literacy and good citizenship.

Multi-award winning children's book author Cindy C. Murray has announced 'The Adventures of Sophie and Scottie Book Series' recently won the 2017 Gold Family Choice Award. The FCA "recognizes the best products, services and resources for all members of a family . . ." The series scored 100 out of 110 points, a score considered by FCA to be extraordinary.

Murray utilizes her award winning series of action adventure children's books to promote literacy and good citizenship. It goes without saying that childhood literacy is extremely important. On their website, the National Education Association referenced a study by the National Center for Education Statistics showing that only 53 percent of children ages three to five were read to by a family member. On the same site it was reported that fourth-grade students' reading tests put 38 percent of students below the most basic reading level.

Murray is passionate about helping to change those appalling statistics by sharing engaging and imaginative adventure stories with young readers.

“I really enjoy visiting schools to meet with the kids about my award winning chapter book series," Murray stated. "We discuss writing techniques and how Sophie and Scottie are good citizens as the characters help solve the mysteries in each adventure.  There are lots of twists and turns in these books, which keeps the reader turning the page to see what happens next!”

In addition to the 2017 Gold Family Choice Award, all of the books in the series have taken a Silver Mom's Choice Award.

San Diego Festival of Books: August 26, 2017

Orange County Children's Book Festival: September 1, 2017

Poway Countryside Barn store, Poway CA: 1:30 to 5:00pm every Wednesday and Friday in September 2017.

“My goal with this book series is to promote literacy in a fun and entertaining way. Therefore, I will continue to attend book events and visit schools.  I’m currently writing my fourth book titled ‘Sophie and Scottie’s Adventures of the Twilight Safari’ which will be full of action and adventure to keep kids reading!”
