Women Heroes Take Center Stage In 'The Compassionate Rebel Revolution' By Author Burt Berlowe

Berlowe's latest work, the second in the anthology, presents the stories of 60 compassionate rebels who are making the world a better place through social change and transformation at a grassroots level. Not surprisingly, many of those stories feature women

In the past, when we heard the word 'hero', many of us would tend to picture a fearless soldier charging through enemy fire to save his companions or perhaps a fireman braving a burning building to rescue a child, or maybe some famous historic figure we place on a pedestal. While some of us still tend fall back on these iconic images, today our minds have opened to encompass a broader spectrum of the population when we hear the word 'hero'.

We have come to realize that 'ordinary' people - male, female, young and old - can do extraordinary things. These everyday heroes are not concerned with creating headlines. They instead create peace, compassion, social transformation and change. Burt Berlowe presents 60 of these stories in his latest inspirational book, 'The Compassionate Rebel Revolution'.

The 'Compassionate Rebel Revolution' tells stories of ordinary citizens who have overcome adversity and channeled their anger at injustice into positive action. Their stories, written by a variety of authors, cover a broad range of relevant topics, including war and peace, civil and human rights, immigration, ecology and sustainability, education, community building, spirituality, health and wellness, electoral, corporate and media reform, and the new youth movement, among others.

"I wrote this book," Berlowe stated, "to highlight the inspiring, personal stories of compassionate rebels -- ordinary people whose extraordinary acts of caring and courage are making our world a better place to live for now and for future generations."

In October we marked the anniversary of the founding of the National Organization for Women (NOW), Founded in the 1960s as part of an emerging feminist movement, NOW has been instrumental in empowering women to take charge of their lives and in changing the perception of the roles women play in society. Because of the work of NOW and other similar organizations, as well as countless individual and collective efforts, women heroes continue to play a significant role in shaping our politics, our culture and our way of life. They also play a large role in Berlowe's work. His book introduces us to some 30 of these women compassionate rebels and their powerful work for change. They include the following:

* International peace activist Kathy Kelly, founder of Voices for Creative Nonviolence, enduring yet another hunger strike against war and injustice.
* Gulf War veteran and PTSD survivor Chante Wolf sharing stories of rampant abuse of women in the military.
 * Ana Castillo overcoming the challenging life of a migrant farm worker to become a hero and role model to others laboring in the fields.
* Diana Knobel traveling time and again through miles of devastation as she delivers yet another round of supplies to the victims of Hurricane Katrina
* Mary Steiner Whalen, an American author and educator, bringing hope to oppressed African families.
* Terrie Ten Eyck, surviving years of physical abuse and homelessness to emerge as a successful entrepreneur and advocate for social transformation.
* Samantha Smart and her powerful circle of speak out sisters empowering women to take control of their lives.
* Mary Heller, whose personal experience with gun violence turned her into a courageous crusader for gun control.
* Belma Demerovich surviving years of Bosnian genocide to become an advocate for victims of torture.
* College student Emilie Brill-Duisberg leading a campaign to protect the earth amidst the rapid growth of her wild-west community.
* Grassroots activist Ann Benson, responding to societal violence by forming Neighbors for Peace in her community.
* Rebel artist Jane Evershed, a witness to African apartheid, painting graphic images of the troubled world she seeks to change.
* Lama Shenpen, Her work with abused women led her to become a Buddhist teacher of peacemaking and meditation.

For those in the educational field, this book comes with an education guide created by students and a professor at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. It is called 'Teaching the Compassionate Rebel Revolution' and is available as an e-book or printed copy on Amazon and Smashwords.

'The Compassionate Rebel Revolution' is available at the Compassionate Rebel Revolution website. Award Winning Children's Book Author Diane Mae Robinson Announces New York Agency Contract

Robinson awards include the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artists Award for Children's Book Author and took 2nd Place in the Purple Dragonfly Book Awards for 'Sir Princess Petra', the first book in the Pen Pieyu series

Award winning Canadian author Diane Robinson has announced that she has contracted with Gotham Artists Agency of New York.

“Signing with New York agent, James von Scholz at Gotham Artists Agency," Robinson stated, "is an incredible boost to my writing career. My agent will work with me to bring my characters to larger audiences through foreign rights, animation, and toy licensing. It’s very exciting.”

‘Sir Princess Petra’, the first in the series, features surprising plot twists and turns, brilliant flashes of humor, zany characters and is rooted in timeless values that shine through the charismatic main character. It is written in the tradition of C. S. Lewis and is reminiscent of ‘Shrek’. Reviewers have labeled the award winning book a ‘fantasy adventure that is sure to become a timeless classic.’

The second book, 'Sir Princess Petra's Talent' has already received a number of very favorable reviews. A recent review on Goodreads stated, 'This is a book that should be in lots of classrooms. I think it is a good book to help children understand that everything is not as it first seems.' Another reviewer stated, 'Cloaked in a fantasy work of knights, kings, and dragons that will engulf children into the story, the moral lessons imparted are refreshingly neither preachy nor boring. Petra’s breath of fresh air personality makes her an exceptional role model for children to admire and to imitate in the real situations of fear, new people, challenges, and goals in their own lives."

Ms. Robinson also recently announced that 'Sir Princess Petra' took an Honorable Mention award in the 2013 Readers' Favorite International Awards for Children Grade K - 3rd. This adds to the long list of awards for 'Sir Princess Petra'.  Robinson was honored with two major awards for the first work. She was awarded the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Emerging Artists Award for Children’s Book Author and took 2nd place in the Purple Dragonfly Book awards for Children’s Chapter Book.

While dragon books are one of the most popular segments of fantasy fiction and children’s books in today's marketplace, in these fantasy fiction books, Robinson uses the dragon books concept as the background to teaching young people traditional values. Ms. Robinson's highly praised work demonstrates that dragon books can be something much more than dragon books.

Diane Mae Robinson is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at robinsond@mscnet.ca. More information, including reviews, information for teachers and librarians and a special children’s section is available at her website. Both books are currently available from Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

About Diane Mae Robinson:

Diane Mae Robinson has a journalism diploma from the Schools of Montreal, and an advanced diploma from the Institute of Children's Literature in Connecticut.  She is also an artist, writing tutor and teaches acrylic and watercolor art to children. She lives with her husband, Allen, in a small hilltop castle near St. Paul, Alberta.  They have four dogs and three horses, along with a forest inhabited by gnomes, fairies, a princess, and a dragon. This magical forest is where Diane creates her characters and gets the inspiration for her stories.

62% Would Buy Haunted Home - Debi Chestnut, Author Of 'Is Your House Haunted?', Advises Caution

A recent article by Leslie Piper in Huff Post DC stated that 62% of people who responded to a Realtor.com survey would buy a haunted home. Debi Chestnut, author and Professional Paranormal Investigator, offers some words of wisdom based on experience

A recent survey by Realtor.com showed that 62% of buyers would consider the purchase of a haunted home. The survey also showed that 35% of responders have lived in a haunted house. These numbers are surprising. Debi Chestnut, spiritual medium, Professional Paranormal Investigator and author of ‘Is Your House Haunted’, while pleased with the survey results, offers some words of caution based on experience.

"I'm surprised,” Chestnut stated, “but pleased with the statistics in this article. It means that people are becoming more open to the concept of living with a ghost.  However I should caution that while the idea of having a spirit in your home might seem interesting - not all ghosts are friendly and you could, literally, be buying yourself a whole lot of trouble.”

In the tradition of James Van Praagh and John Edwards, Debi Chestnut has spent 30 years helping people connect with loved ones in the spiritual realm. She has the ability to see and talk to ghosts. She has been able to communicate with spirits since she was a child. She has nearly 20 years of experience as a ghost hunter and uses her unique talents to assist in investigations for those who are experiencing paranormal activity.

She is the author of a number of related books including, ‘Is Your House Haunted?’, ‘So You Want to Be a Ghosthunter?’ and  ‘How to Clear Your Home of Ghosts and Spirits’.

‘Is Your House Haunted?’ is a beginner’s guide on the subject of hauntings and ghosts and offers reassurance and practical advice on identifying, and putting a stop to, any paranormal activity. A key focus in the book is to learn how to discover and rule out any earthly explanations for strange phenomena. A comprehensive overview of all kinds of hauntings and ghosts-from harmless family spirits to aggressive poltergeists to malevolent demons-helps readers understand and identify unearthly houseguests. If the reader wants to banish a ghost, there are plenty of simple, effective techniques to get the job done, and guidance on when it might be necessary to call in paranormal experts. ‘Is Your House Haunted?’ includes a paranormal FAQ and advice on how to talk to children about ghosts.

“Readers will find this book helpful,” Debi continued,” as it provides valuable information and assistance to anyone who believes their house is haunted.”

Debi is available for media interviews and client consultations. She can be reached using the information below or by email at debichestnut@yahoo.com. All of her books are available at Amazon. More information is available at her website at http://www.MyParanormalAdvisor.com.

“Remembering Katrina” Event In Dallas TX Celebrates Hurricane Katrina Survivors Through Film, Literature and Dance

Lynette Norris Wilkinson, author of 'Untold: The New Orleans 9th Ward You Never Knew', an inspirational book about Hurricane Katrina survivors, was lauded for her efforts in the commemoration of Hurricane Katrina

Lynette Norris Wilkinson, author of 'Untold: The New Orleans 9th Ward You Never Knew', an inspiring book about Hurricane Katrina survivors, is pleased to announce her participation in the 'Remembering Katrina' event held recently in Dallas, TX. The event was held at the Latino Cultural Center in Dallas. Audience members joined in the traditional New Orleans Second Line dance at the event, an evening of film, literature and dance commemorating the eighth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

The event began with a special screening of excerpts from the National Geographic film 'Deadly Floods', in which UNTOLD received film credit.  Following the screening, the Katrina survivor featured in the film, Imani Williams, shared an emotional speech on her struggles during and after the storm. Lynette Norris Wilkinson spoke and signed copies of her book about Hurricane Katrina, which tells the true stories of 16 survivors from the devastated Lower 9th Ward where she grew up. Several survivors featured in the inspirational book were present to answer questions and share additional insight. New Orleans native, choreographer and performing artist Michelle Gibson gave the history of the New Orleans Second Line dance before leading the audience to participate, accompanied by a brass band.

Vicki Meek, director of the South Dallas Cultural Center, a sponsor for the event, served as emcee. Participants and sponsors for the event received a proclamation from the City of New Orleans and its mayor for their participation and efforts in the commemoration of Hurricane Katrina. In addition to Ms. Meek, recipients include Lynette Norris Wilkinson; Imani Williams; Michelle Gibson; The Dallas Weekly; The Brass Band; David’s Seafood Grill in Cedar Hill; The Big Easy New Orleans Style Sandwiches in Plano; Barnes and Noble Creekwalk Village in Plano; Red Lobster in Duncanville; G5 Entertainment & JMR Company; and the Smith, Leonard, Norris and Fisher families.

“I wrote this book," stated Wilkinson, "for anyone searching for truth, encouragement, hope, and faith through the words of these survivors. Persons who have overcome adversity; persons wanting insight into the Katrina experience; those who helped survivors or want to help in the recovery process; as well as teachers wanting to expose a younger generation to one of the greatest natural disasters in recent history, will find what they are looking for in UNTOLD.”

'Untold: The New Orleans 9th Ward You Never Knew', a compelling and revealing book about Hurricane Katrina, offers an in-depth look into the lives of 16 residents from the Lower 9th Ward and shares their memories, their faith and describes how they survived. 'Untold' focuses specifically on the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans, Wilkinson's childhood place of residence. Unlike other books on the subject of Hurricane Katrina, the stories are presented from the perspective of someone who grew up in the 9th Ward. 'Untold' tells the stories of survivors of Hurricane Katrina, ages 8 to 80, and is packed with powerful and inspirational stories and brilliantly sheds some positive light on a very dark time. UNTOLD also tells the history of how the Lower 9th Ward developed and continued to thrive in this close-knit community.

'Untold' was named Book of the Year by Sankofa Literary Society and holds a 4.9 out of 5 star ranking on Amazon. The book is available in softcover and ebook versions at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Google Books. Proceeds from the book are donated to an organization helping the recovery efforts of residents of the 9th Ward. More information is available at Wilkinson's website at http://www.HurricaneKatrinaStories.com.

Lynette Norris Wilkinson is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at author@hurricanekatrinastories.com.

About Lynette Norris Wilkinson:

Award-winning writer Lynette Norris Wilkinson was born and raised in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. She attended Macarty School (kindergarten), McDonogh #19 Elementary School, Lawless Junior High School, and McDonogh #35 Senior High School. At her elementary school in New Orleans, her sixth grade teacher encouraged her to write poems and essays. She entered contests in the local paper and won. For her efforts, she received a stuffed animal and a little cash. From that, she learned the value of the written word.

After graduating cum laude from Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas, with a major in journalism and a minor in marketing, she took a job with Dun & Bradstreet as a business reporter.  After marrying and moving to Dallas and working in customer service for a publishing company for a few years, she decided she wanted to get back into writing. Lynette volunteered with the Dallas Public Library and other nonprofit agencies and wrote articles, brochures, and manuals to build her portfolio. She had learned how to reinvent herself.

In August 2005, Lynette found herself with 16 family members and friends on her doorstep when Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans. They had nothing but the clothes on their backs and the few possessions they had in their cars. But they had their lives, and they had each other. Through this experience, Lynette learned what really matters.

Seeing the devastated Lower Ninth Ward, she had the God-inspired idea to write a book that celebrated Hurricane Katrina survivors from that area and donate the proceeds to organizations that are helping residents recover. She says, “You see me as I am now, but there was where it all began. These are my roots and my people. How could I not use my gift to do what is within my power to help?”

And so the book, 'Untold: The New Orleans 9th Ward You Never Knew', was born. The author says, “If this is the best and biggest thing I ever do in my life, I will be happy.”

Powerful Anti-Aging Strategies Offered By Rakesh Sethi, Author Of 'Health Plus Happiness Equals Wellness'

We try many things to slow down aging - anti-aging foods, anti-aging drugs, hormones, diets, pills and surgery. Wellness speaker Rakesh Sethi, BS, CAHP, author of 'Health Plus Happiness Equals Wellness', says the most powerful strategy lies elsewhere

Everybody wants to slow the aging process and remain healthy. We try many things - anti-aging drugs, anti-aging pills - hormones, foods, diets, pills and various types of cosmetic surgery. Most doctors tell us the key to aging gracefully is to exercise and eat healthy. Regardless of the approach taken, the health benefits achieved by these anti-aging methods can be limited for some people and practically non-existent for others. Anti-aging strategies, if not applied intelligently and with care, can create even more problems than they solve. Why is this so?

Because every person is unique. What is healthy and promotes wellness for one person may not be healthy for another. What works for one person may produce no benefits at all for another. There is no easy, one-size-fits-all answer for everyone. Every person has a unique constitution. Therein lies the real key to success for those who hope to achieve long-term wellness and dramatically slow the aging process.

"Healthy living" Sethi stated, "based on the Ayurvedic medical system can take an individual's health to a whole new level and slow down the aging process. The key word here is 'individual'. Every individual is unique. There are 5 key points we must understand:

1. Before you embark upon your healthy living path, you must know what makes your body-mind composition unique. Eating and living healthy revolving around your unique composition creates a personalized wellness path which can really slow down aging throughout your life.

2. Healthy living, utilizing your unique composition, facilitates your body’s inherent ability to heal itself. Your body is self-sufficient. It is the wrong thoughts and foods that compromise its ability to live in health.

3. Once you start to eat and live according to your unique mind-body constitution, you create less stress and toxins in your body systems. You live disease free. That is the underlying secret to really slow down aging naturally.

4. On your personalized wellness path, you promote health and participate in your wellness every day.  This is the true definition of practicing preventive care and living disease free. Practicing preventive care is NOT taking tests to find out if you have a disease or not. Prevention is what you practice prior to taking those tests.

5.Your wellness path is your own personal healthcare reform. There is no healthcare reform for you unless you take charge to reform your own health.

In the tradition of health professionals such as Deepak Chopra, and as a Certified Ayurveda Healthcare Professional, Rakesh Sethi bases his approach on Ayurveda. Ayurveda is a health-management approach that encourages wellness, rather than a disease-management approach that treats illness. In Sanskrit, 'Ayur' means life, and 'Veda' means science. This unique medical science addresses the whole person – not just the physical being. For millennia, people have recognized the power of the mind-body relationship and its importance to overall health and wellbeing.

In addition, Ayurveda medical science addresses each individual as an entirely unique person. Unlike traditional Western medicine’s one-size-fits-all approach, the Ayurvedic medical system recognizes that everyone has a unique mind-body constitution.

"My goal," Sethi continued, "is to help clients discover their unique mind-body constitution and to teach others how to participate in wellness every day. I introduce people to the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, combined with a scientific, practical approach that makes sense for our modern society. My hope is to inspire people to make life-long changes, so that they might live in health."

Rakesh Sethi offers a wide range of both wellness products and services. He is a keynote speaker and presenter on wellness and has spoken at many Fortune 500 companies including Chevron, AT&T, Blue Shield of CA and others.

A large number of articles on specific health topics are available at his website and blog. He offers wellness consultations, wellness coaching, wellness workshops and wellness webinars. He considers workplace wellness to be at the top of his priority list and is available for speaking engagements, workshops and seminars for companies and corporations of all sizes. A no-charge ebook entitled 'Lower Your Cholesterol Naturally' is available for those who sign up for his newsletter.

Rakesh Sethi is available for media interviews and speaking engagements and can be reached using the information below or by email at rakesh@truewellnessgroup.com. His recent Ayurveda book, 'Health Plus Happiness Equals Wellness' is available at the website at http://www.promotehealthwellness.com. More information on all of the above is available at the True Wellness Group website at http://www.PromoteHealthWellness.com.

About Rakesh Sethi:

Rakesh Sethi, BS, CAHP, graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree with courses in pre-med, engineering, and computer science and was employed by Hewlett-Packard. In 1987 he started reading the Vedic scientific philosophies and other scientific and philosophical books. In particular, the Tao of Physics resonated with him, because it presents a scientific way to understand our nature from both a philosophical and physics standpoint. This insight, combined from philosophy and science, connected the dots for him and helped him to understand his purpose and his responsibility as a human being.

As a result of his new focus he came to understand that health and happiness lead to true wellness.

Rakesh offers wellness consultations, wellness coaching, wellness workshops and wellness webinars. He serves as a keynote speaker and presents workshops and seminars for companies and corporations on a wide variety of topics including workplace wellness. He is the author of an Ayurveda book, 'Health Plus Happiness Equals Wellness'. The book has received very positive reviews from both laymen and medical professionals.

A.W. Daniels, Author of 'Genetically Privileged' Issues Statement on Genetic Engineering

The government in the UK is considering approval of genetically engineered ‘3 parent’ embryos. The embryos would have genetic material from one father and two mothers. Daniels believes the implications for society, now and in the future, are staggering

A recent article on LifeNews.com stated that The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority in the United Kingdom is considering the approval of procedures that would allow nuclear transfer technology. This could result in embryos that may be free from defects. A.W. Daniels, author of 'Genetically Privileged' sees a number of game changing scenarios that might results from such a move.

The 'three-parent embryo' is only the beginning," Daniels stated, "and the majority of the arguments presented here, aside from the prevention of genetic disease, fall under the pretext of morality and ethics in fertilization procedures. To assume experimental genetic manipulation is not being conducted, either privately or under government sponsored programs clandestinely, may be overlooking the obvious. The future benefits to be possibly gained are far too great to go unexplored by some."

Those future benefits, as well as the social implications, are the subjects addressed in the first of a series of novels by Daniels entitled "Genetically Privileged."

“Besides the elimination of genetic defects," Daniels continued, "what other special abilities can be gained through the use of genetic enhancement? Superior intelligence and strength could be only the beginning. How will society react to those that are genetically privileged and for what purposes will those in charge of such experimentation use the enhanced progeny? Furthermore, how will the 'special children' born of such processes react to a society they may deem inferior?”

These are just some of the questions speculated upon in 'Genetically Privileged'. In the storyline, nature disappoints a young couple's aspirations of parenthood. They turn to a series of fertility experts and finally an old friend. Their friend, as it turns out, has been modifying the human genome for a government project and the couple becomes entangled in a web of deceit. ‘Genetically Privileged’ is a socially relevant read, addressing the advancements of technology and science as Daniels speculates on the social impact of those developments.

‘Genetically Privileged’ has received numerous favorable reviews. Recently Midwest Book Review stated, "Genetically Privileged is an insightful spin of science fiction exploring genetic engineering, recommended." Kirkus Review stated, "Daniels skillfully develops a sense of threat. An inventive, intriguing novel. Animated plot and thoughtful questions posed about genetic manipulation.”

A.W. Daniels is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at aw.daniels@yahoo.com. 'Genetically Privileged' is available at Amazon, Smashwords and CreateSpace. More information is available at Daniels' website at http://www.AWDaniels.net.

Child's Spinal Cord Injury Is The Basis For Inspiring And Motivational Story In 'Tales2Inspire'

Spinal cord injury is one of the most debilitating forms of injury, affecting 1.25 million Americans. While technology advances at a record pace, funding for research is now being cut. Many of those affected continue to hope. Garret Frey is one of those people. His inspiring story appears in 'Tales2Inspire - The Topaz Collection'

Spinal cord injury affects 1.25 million Americans. The aftermath of such injuries can be horrific, sometimes resulting in total paralysis. Whereas some people might simply give up, others face the overwhelming challenges inherent in such injuries and go on to lead fulfilling lives. Garret Frey is one such person. His inspiring story in ‘The Topaz Collection’, by Karen Hutchins Pirnot, Ph.D., demonstrates the indomitable nature of the human spirit.

Garret was left quadriplegic and ventilator dependent for life after a motorcycle accident that happened when he was just four years old. Dr. Pirnot spent seven years with Garrett. Her story, related in 'Tales2Inspire' describes how Garrett moved ever onward toward excellence and, perhaps without realizing it, managed to take Dr. Pirnot along on that journey.

"In a day in which advances in technology are forthcoming at a record pace," Dr. Pirnot stated, "the funding for technology which could be critical to human survival is being cut.  In particular recent government cuts in funding for those with spinal cord injuries is affecting thousands of individuals with various forms of paralysis.  One of those hoping for scientific advances is young Garret Frey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the subject of my story, "As I Am" now published in the ‘Tales2Inspire - The Topaz Collection’ of inspiring stories.  Garret was injured at the tender age of four years and was rendered quadriplegic and ventilator-dependent.  The means to restore motor functioning was simply unavailable at the time. Despite his handicaps, Garret managed to graduate from high school and attend college.  Garret's adjustment to a purely cognitive life has been phenomenal but for those more recently injured, the prognosis could be dismal unless the means are found to transmit scientific advances to the adaptive functioning of those with spinal cord injuries."

'Tales2Inspire', presented by Lois W. Stern, is a compilation of life inspiring messages and motivational stories from contributing authors. Each edition presents inspiring stories and messages of hope to readers of any age group.

"Because each of the stories included in any of the Tales2Inspire™ collections is selected for its inspirational value, these books are ideal matches for groups and individuals seeking uplifting, motivational messages presented in a very powerful way. Every story could make a real impact on those who need these kinds of messages. That could be anybody -  from a hospital patient who needs a major lift in spirits to those who are facing smaller, every day kinds of challenges and just want a quick pick-me-up. They are priced to fit any budget and make great gifts."

In a recent review of ‘Tales2Inspire’, Bernie Siegel, MD, author of ‘A Book Of Miracles’ and ‘365 Prescriptions for the Soul' stated, “This is a book with a heart. Filled with stories which reveal what happens when we choose to live in a way that is life enhancing for all God's creatures. Our potential is miraculous when we choose to inspire the vapor of love. The people in these stories have always been my teachers. Read and learn the lessons of life.”

Inspirational stories, submitted by authors, are judged by a peer group to determine eligibility for publication. There are no fees to submit for consideration, and winning authors receive many no-charge platform-building opportunities. Future submission categories are likely to include themes such as Compassion, Reflections, Courage, Faith (non-denominational), Everyday Miracles, Dreams Fulfilled and Success through Perseverance, with those currently open continually updated on the Tales2inspire website.

Lois W. Stern is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at tales2inspire@optimum.net. ‘Tales2Inspire’ is available at Amazon and other online retailers. More information is available at the website at http://www.tales2inspire.com.

Richard DuRose, Author Of ‘Shooting Star’, Releases New Aviation Book, '1927: A Brilliant Year In Aviation'

The nephew of famed aviator Mildred Doran, Richard DuRose’s newest work gives readers a rare glimpse into the lives of the personalities responsible for the worldwide explosion in aviation that began in 1927

Author Richard DuRose is known as 'The Inside Authority On The Golden Age Of Aviation’ for good reason. His aunt, Mildred Doran, was one of the United States' first female aviators. He related her story in 'Shooting Star, The First Woman To Attempt To Reach Hawaii By Air'. His latest work, '1927: A Brilliant Year In Aviation', brings the personalities responsible for the worldwide explosion in aviation back to life.

"Like everyone," DuRose stated, "I knew of Charles Lindbergh’s flight to Paris.  And then, when I researched the story of my Aunt Mildred Doran, I learned of the Dole Race bound for Honolulu eleven weeks after Lindbergh’s triumph.  But, I could not help but notice the persistent news accounts of the other aviators who in that same year, 1927, attempted to emulate Lindbergh’s success.  I was struck first by how reckless some were as well as their bravery.  Then, when I really dug in, the colorful personalities of the fliers jumped off the page. There were twenty some successful flights, but more were tragic failures.  But, over and above the historical significance of the flights of 1927, the behind the scenes accounts in this book will fascinate any reader, whether or not they are a student of aviation history.  This book will refresh everyone’s understanding of the most important year in the Golden Age of Aviation."

DuRose presents a stellar cast of brave and ambitious adventurers. They include Charles Nungesser, the WWI flying ace who painted a coffin on his plane and called himself the 'Knight of Death'; Dick Grace, the broken-neck pilot who crashed airplanes for a living; Ruth Elder, a beautiful Hollywood starlet; Richard Byrd, the explorer; Anne of Lowenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg, a 63 year old princess; Charles Levine, the millionaire 'junkman' and many more.

DuRose's aunt, Mildred Doran, then a young schoolteacher, entered the Dole Transpacific Air Race in 1927, organized to start only 11 weeks after Charles Lindbergh’s flight to Paris.  Of the 8 planes lined up for the race, only two made it to Hawaii.  Mildred and her plane were mysteriously lost and, similar to Amelia Earhart’s fate, no trace of her or her plane was ever located. DuRose first  became familiar with the story when he inherited a box of pictures, news clippings and other memorabilia from his mother who was Mildred’s little sister.  That box sent DuRose on a three-year quest into the history of aviation and resulted in a 2011 article in Smithsonian’s Air & Space magazine.

“I wrote the first book,” stated Mr. DuRose, “as there was an immediate response to the article with many readers saying they wanted to know more.  That gave me the impetus to write 'Shooting Star' because so many urged me to do so. I believe readers interested in aviation history will really enjoy '1927'.”

In a recent review, Don Blair, retired NBC Radio Network newscaster and author of 'Splashdown, NASA, the Navy and Spaceflight Recovery' stated, "In that year of 1927 exactly 27 aviators lost their lives while trying to get themselves into aviation’s suddenly growing record books.  As DuRose points out the public simply could not get enough of these daredevils and newspapers eagerly captured and reported on every one of those attempts.  The bottom line?  You will read about each and every one of those flights in DuRose’s 277 page paperback and be able to amaze your friends while citing the names of aviators they probably never heard of just like yourself before you got your copy of the book.  As it is written on the back cover.  This book brings those courageous and sometimes foolish aviators back to life.  A very worthwhile read."

Richard DuRose is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at rdurose@morrisbb.net. Both books are available at Amazon.com. More information is available at Mr. DuRose’s website at www.RichardDuRose.com.

Profile:

Richard DuRose lives in Hendersonville, North Carolina with his wife Nancy, where he retired after a career as a corporate trial lawyer.

The bulk of his career was spent with Foley & Lardner, a nation-wide law firm. DuRose specialized in employment law, and handled cases in 37 of the 50 states.  He was named as one of the Best Lawyers in America under labor and employment law, and chosen for mention in Who’s Who in American Law.

Government Shutdown: Consultant John J. Murphy, Author Of ‘Pulling Together’, Offers Solid Advice

The US Government has shut down again. Citizens look to political leaders and ask, Why are you not pulling together? Why is the United States not united? Where is leadership when we need it? Author John J. Murphy offers answers in 'Pulling Together'

As the government shutdown continues, the question at the forefront of the consciousness of many Americans is “What ever happened to teamwork?” Award-winning author and international business consultant John J. Murphy of Venture Management Consultants addresses the question of leadership and teamwork in one of his most popular works, 'Pulling Together: Ten Rules For High Performance Teamwork'.

"Teamwork," Murphy stated, "is a principle-based, win-win value. In other words, if we value teamwork, we have to commit to the principles that grow it. We have to co-operate. We have to sow the right seeds. We have to accept and apply the rules of the game. This means pulling together as one, not falling apart."

Murphy's global reputation is unparalleled. Organizations worldwide seek his wise counsel and coaching. From the U.S. Navy to Fortune 100s, Murphy teaches that teamwork is the ultimate reflection of wisdom and balance. He is the author of 16 books and has appeared on over 400 radio and television interviews. In his opinion, most of the answers to these pressing questions can be found in his definition of teamwork.

“At the center of every high performance team is a common purpose – a mission that rises above and beyond each of the individual team members. To be successful, the team’s interests and needs come first. This requires ‘we-opic’ vision (What’s in it for we?), a challenging step up from the common ‘me-opic’ mindset."

John J. Murphy’s body of work is immense. It is especially pertinent in light of today’s need for building effective teams, learning to work as a team and the development of team leadership.  He is the author of numerous books on leadership and teamwork, including ‘Pulling Together: The 10 Rules For High Performance Teamwork’, ‘Pulling Together: The Power Of Teamwork.’ and 'Zentrepreneur' in which he encourages management to 'get out of the way and lead.' His company, Venture Management Consultants, specializes in helping people and organizations worldwide achieve and sustain peak performance through effective deployment, development and implementation of best practice techniques. These include, but are not limited to, lean six sigma, leadership skills training, and leadership in management, leading change, kaizen, customer service and sage leadership.

John J. Murphy is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at jjmurphy13@comcast.net. Murphy’s books are available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and at his website and many other online book outlets. More information, including a full list of services and authored works, can be found at his website at http://www.venturemanagmentconsultants.com. 'Pulling Together' is available here. Zentrepreneur is available on Amazon here.

Author And Positive Psychologist Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein Announces Book Publication, Issues Statement On Raising Self Esteem For Girls

New York City recently unveiled a $333,000 project entitled The NYC Girls Project, the first campaign by a major city aimed at girls' body image. Dr. Holstein, author of 'The Truth', feels this is a major step forward in helping female teens and tweens

New York City has unveiled a major project to help young girls raise self-esteem, specifically in regards to body image. The NYC Girls Project will address self-esteem issues at 75 after school programs and will include a Twitter campaign. Samantha Levine, an aide to Mr. Bloomberg, conceived the project when she became aware that very young girls were getting plastic surgery and even wearing body-shaping garments in an effort to achieve a positive self image.

"I'm so thrilled," stated Dr. Holstein, "with the NYC Girls Project.  I love that people, even while sitting in a taxi, will watch 30-second videos of girls of all types, proud of who they are and what they love to do.  Congratulations to NYC for recognizing the potential danger in letting our kids feel bad or sad about themselves."

"We all know that we can't all be models or superthin or even athletic.  The problem is that we get caught up as a society around certain artificial values, forgetting that beauty starts inside out, not outside in."

"As a psychologist my mission is to help girls, tweens and teens value themselves. Every girl deserves to be happy in who she is and how she feels about herself.  In The Truth (I'm a girl, I'm smart and I know everything) I made sure that the girl who keeps the diary always finds a way, even under the pressures of life, such as moving to a new town, a crush, trouble with a best friend, parents fighting, etc. to be true to herself.  Every page of the book is designed to help any girl reading the book, even one who has felt bad about herself, to start to feel proud and more sure of herself.  Every girl deserves to be a winner."

Dr. Holstein's book for teens and tweens, ‘The Truth, (I’m a girl, I’m Smart and I Know Everything)’ is a first in positive psychology. It is a fiction book for girls, tweens and teens. Written by an 11 year old girl as a diary, Dr. Barbara has embedded within the story positive truths and concepts geared to help girls develop self-esteem and resiliency. Sky Pony Press will be publishing The Truth in the summer of 2014.

Sky Pony Press, the children’s imprint of Skyhorse Publishing, launched its first list in Fall 2011 and has about 100 books in print currently. Sky Pony publishes picture books, middle grade, YA, and children’s nonfiction titles, with an emphasis on books that inform children of the world in which they live and promote good self-esteem, good citizenship, and a love of reading.

Her second book in The Truth Series is 'Secrets: You Tell Me Yours and I’ll Tell You Mine…Maybe!’  Now the girl is 13. She handles many adolescent issues, including a crush, moving, a death in the family, feeling fat and problems with girlfriends.  'Secrets' provides a book kids and parents and grandparents can share and use as a sounding board for needed communication between the generations.

Both 'The Truth' and 'Secrets' are great for grandparents, older siblings and teachers to establish lines of communication with the tweens in their lives. Both books will be re-released by Sky Pony Press.

In addition to running a thriving practice, Dr. Holstein is a very successful author across many genres. She is available for media interview and can be reached using the information below or by email at drbarbara@enchantedself.com. All of her works are available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble and all other online retailers. More information is available at her website at http://www.NewRomanceBooks.com.

John J. Murphy, International Business Consultant And Zentrepreneur, Releases New Business Leadership Book ‘Zentrepreneur’

In this powerful new work, John J. Murphy, CEO of Venture Management Consultants, teaches business leaders how to overcome resistance to change and achieve new levels of leadership

John Murphy, an international business consultant and spiritual mystic, has announced the release of his latest work, ‘Zentrepreneur’.

In ‘Zentrepreneur’, Mr. Murphy demonstrates how business leaders can integrate the art of positive thinking and the freedom of spiritual well-being with the business of getting desirable results. This leads to transformation, innovation, and powerful change. The leader can:

* Tap the extraordinary power and mystery of the zentrepreneur
* Overcome resistance to change
* See opportunities instead of problems
* Transcend fear-based motivation and the illusion of control
* Inspire limitless creativity and leading-edge innovation

"I believe there is a zentrepreneur in everyone,” Murphy stated, “a soul seeking expression and an abundance of ideas waiting to be discovered. We are here on earth to explore, to learn, to grow, to build relationships and to express ourselves in purposeful ways. The problem is we get in our own way. We limit ourselves. We talk ourselves out of good ideas. We let fear and doubt and resistance get in our way. We go through life with the brakes on.”

An award-winning author and international business consultant, John J. Murphy works with organizations worldwide that seek his counsel and coaching. From the U.S. Navy to Fortune 100s, Murphy teaches that teamwork is the ultimate reflection of wisdom and balance. Murphy has appeared on over 400 radio and television interviews.

This book is a winner for anyone who wants to get out of their own way and lead with passion.” Mac Anderson, founder of 'Simple Truths and Successories', stated, “John Murphy is one of my all-time favorite authors. He is brilliant; and this book is a must-read for any leader or anyone wanting to start a business.”

John J. Murphy’s body of work is immense. It is especially pertinent in light of today’s need for building effective teams, learning to work as a team and the development of team leadership.  He is the author of numerous books on leadership and teamwork, including ‘Pulling Together: The Power Of Teamwork’ and 'Sage Leadership: Awakening the Spirit in Work.’ His company, Venture Management Consultants, specializes in helping people and organizations worldwide achieve and sustain peak performance through effective deployment, development and implementation of best practice techniques. These include, but are not limited to, lean six sigma, leadership skills training, and leadership in management, leading change, kaizen, customer service and sage leadership.

Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein On Today.com - Americans Pick 50 As The Perfect Age

Dr. Holstein is both a Positive Psychologist and successful author. Recently she was quoted on Today.com regarding why Americans have chosen age 50 as the perfect age

Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein was asked by Today.com why she feels 50 is the perfect age. Her comments were insightful, engaging and more than a bit amusing.

"You're young enough," Dr. Holstein stated, "to be famous or start an organic farm and still have the muscle tone to work eight hours a day. You're old enough to have wisdom but young enough that your parents are still alive so you have a generational experience. If you're tired, you can ask the young man on the bus to get out of his seat for you. Or you can date the young man. The more I think about it, the more appealing it is . . ."

“I really think 50 is the new 30 to 35.  For a woman, you can stay stylish and fit and maybe get your hair dyed or just do a little cosmetic tune-up and feel, ‘Wow, this is great.' In terms of childbearing, you can basically say forget it or if you want a baby at 50 or 53, you can get your hormones juiced up and go for it. Research shows that as we age, we tend to be less depressed, less anxious and more optimistic than our juniors. And we also become more comfortable with ourselves and our bodies."

What about those who feel 50 may not be the perfect age? Dr. Holstein offers some additional advice: "Make a list of your talents, strengths and potential.  If you don't know where to start scan your childhood and start with what you felt good at as a child.  Don't worry if the talent didn't make you into a star.  Even one year of piano if you enjoyed it, or having a small garden or loving to draw pictures counts.  Whatever it was, it is a signal to you.  The secret is discovering what has great appeal to you and then figuring out how to reinvent it to fit who you are now."

Dr. Holstein's book, ‘The Truth, (I’m a girl, I’m Smart and I Know Everything)’ is a first in positive psychology. It is a fiction book for girls, tweens and teens. Written by an 11 year old girl as a diary, Dr. Barbara has embedded within the story positive truths and concepts geared to help girls develop self-esteem and resiliency

Both books will be rereleased by Sky Pony Press, the children's book imprint of Skyhorse Publishing. 'The Truth' will be published in July, 2014

Dr. Holstein has recently published two romantic fiction novels, 'Next Year In Jerusalem: Romance, Mystery and Spiritual Awakenings' and 'Next Year In Jerusalem Part Two: Around Every Corner Mystery & Romance in the Holy Land'. These romantic fiction novels tell the stories of Natalie and Maggie, best friends since college, who find themselves in the romantic, mystical and intriguing city of Jerusalem when Natalie’s husband, David, takes a short sabbatical there.
