Jody Sharpe, Bestselling Author Of 'The Dog Who Came For Christmas', Announces First Place Award In The NFPW At-Large Communications Contest

As a former teacher of special needs children, Sharpe has direct experience regarding the effect bullying has on children. Her award-winning, bestselling books help readers find hope, inspiration and gratitude.

Bestselling author Jody Sharpe has announced a First Place award in the NFPW At-Large Contest, Novellas for Adult Readers category, for her latest book, 'The Dog Who Came For Christmas'.

In 'The Dog Who Came For Christmas', meteorologist and psychic, Gayle Force Knight, proves to be a force to be reckoned with once more. While Gayle was sleeping, an angel sent her a vision of a future event. With her intuition, Gayle wonders, will she really meet the dog in her dream and save another one?

With the help of her intuitive husband, Alex Knight, and friends, Gayle sets on a course to rescue many more. But with surprising twists and turns of intrigue, both Gayle and Alex find there are always angels at the helm as they ride on their coattails.

The ebook version of book 6 in the Mystic Bay Series, ‘20 Moon Rd., An Angel’s Tale’ recently achieved bestseller status. This book took First Place nationally in the novella category in the 2023 in the NFPW Professional Communication Contest.

In ‘20 Moon Rd., the bully never wins. Miracles still happen in the town of Mystic Bay California. Angels live as humans there. Angel Ken, a former football coach, is surprised when his late best friend, the indomitable psychic, Madam Norma, appears in spirit form and asks him to write the story of her life through her memories she will send him. Surprising to Angel Ken, Madam Norma saw thousands of angels since childhood.

Sharpe recently received an honorable mention in the 2024 National Federation of Press Women's Professional Communication contest at the national level for one of her novels, ‘Summer of Angels’. This is the fourth NFPW win for her. In 2023, Town Of Angels Christmas also placed At Large, as did ‘Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder’.

She was also featured in the September issue of 'Great Writers You Should Be Reading Magazine.'

Books by Jody Sharpe include:

To Catch an Angel - Jody is also the author of 'To Catch an Angel', written in memory of her late husband Steve. In 'To Catch an Angel', miracles happen in Mystic Bay, California, the town with the psychic and angel vibe. Angels are calling. Psychic Maggie Malone returns home to find she's swept up in the miracle of it all. She can't imagine why her mother left or who her father might be. But these questions pale in comparison to the wonder of the angels. Maggie meets writer, Noah Greenstreet. They realize they've met before, but where? Maggie and Noah embark on a journey to find our world is all awash with angels.

The Angel's Daughter - A secret lies in Mystic Bay, California, and only two people know it. First, there’s Hannah, a tender curly-headed half-angel. Then there’s her father, Gabe, an effervescent, teddy bear of a full-blooded angel. And it’s up to Hannah to keep the secret safe, but she’s made a colossal mistake telling her ex-boyfriend and writing professor, Sam Blakely. Now he's written a book exposing the secret to the world.

Town Of Angels - it's angel vs. Bully in the town of Mystic Bay, California, where a well-kept secret lies. Angels live as humans there. After angels appeared to three children, all was blissful in the town full of psychics, and ordinary folk. But as brute, Klaus Waxman, comes to town, angel Ken Leighton, a storeowner, must carefully guide his flock of humans not to give in to the bully's efforts. As Klaus opens a store mocking the resident angel sightings, angel Ken guides psychic Justine Greer, and her family to thwart his efforts. And with the help of the indomitable oldest psychic in town, Madam Norma, the bully meets his match through the soft voices and intuitive minds of his neighbors.

Town Of Angels Christmas - The bully never wins. A secret lies in Mystic Bay California. Angels live as humans there. Angel Ken, a storeowner, fears the secret will be revealed when vet, Jordana Hart, a woman with special healing abilities moves to town.

Years before Angel Ken materialized as an old man, changing the course of her life. Will Jordana recognize Angel Ken as the man from her past as they work together on a rescue mission to bring twenty-two horses to Mystic Bay before Christmas, will they see what lies before them, a Christmas story only the angels could write.

Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder is a memoir based on her twenty-five years teaching children with special needs. The book placed second in the National Federation Of Press Women's At-Large Communication contest. The book is as entertaining as it is illuminating. It's a love story about the special students and others who over the years graced her life with just that, their grace.

With hearts of angels and challenges to face, the children took Sharpe along their journeys and inspired her own life's journey of self-discovery. When sorrow came, their kindness helped her through. The synchronicity of events from high school to retirement changed her life for the better, turning her face toward heaven.

Midwest Book Review stated, "Sharpe's ability to see the good in circumstances and people identifies the 'special' in 'special needs' as she delineates her journey through the education system and those teaching and social encounters which changed her perspective and life."

"Teachers (especially those working with special needs kids) will find this spiritual and social reflection easily accessible. It's presented in vignettes which offer small, digestible bites of insight into a world where angels and kindness are present in more than one form."

Special Needs Children followed her recently released children's book about angels, When The Angel Sent Butterflies. The new book helps children understand that love from their parents and others surrounds them. Love conquers fear, and believing that angels are near can help sweep any childhood fear away. This concept is presented in the book when Angel Ken sends Jones and Kate butterflies. The book, appropriate for ages 2 to 7, is now available at Amazon and Ingram.

One of her latest books, Summer Of Angels, is a mystery novel. Meteorologist and psychic, Gayle Force proves a force to be reckoned with as she moves back to her beloved Mystic Bay, California. While sleeping, an angel sent her a vision in a dream of a future event. Gayle realizes she must use her intuition to save an old man from drowning. But who is this old man?

With the help of intuitive attorney, Alex Knight, she finds they are caught in the middle of a future crime. But can Gayle and Alex solve the case and save the old man before it’s too late? With surprising twists and turns of intrigue and love, Gayle and Alex find there are angels at the helm as they help prove the bully never wins.

Our Children Must Be Our Focus Says Jody Sharpe, Bestselling Author Of 'Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder'

As a former teacher of special needs children, Sharpe has direct experience regarding the effect bullying has on children. Her award-winning, bestselling books help readers find hope, inspiration and gratitude.

When we look at our headlines today, we must ask what might be one of the most important questions members of our generation could ever ask: "Is this the world we want to offer our children?"

The world has never been perfect, and here we are not talking about war, disease, famine and all the other problems we have experienced for centuries. Instead we need to look at how bullying has become a part of our culture. From the lowest form of playground antics to the bullying found at the highest levels of government, bullying has become acceptable. And that should never be.

In a recent article titled "Angels Inspiration: Our Children Our Focus," Sharpe wrote in part:

In these times when misguided adults are causing chaos in our world, the angels have inspired me to write this post. Our children in the world need to be our focus at this time. What are they hearing in their homes, what kind of words are they listening to? Is it intolerance or is it about teaching kindness?

Children should be witnessing love and togetherness. Instead our media is covering bullying, man’s inhumanity to man. We need to see the truth how chaos and bullying destroy. We need to be covering the important way to live like helping those in need.

I wrote two books about children. One was the book about my work as a teacher with children who had special needs. Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder.

These children impacted my life with their no agenda ways and with only love in their hearts. The other book was my children’s book, When The Angel Sent Butterflies, inspired by my grandchildren. An angel comes to help the character Kate with her fear of bees.

We adults need to think about the impact of words and the actions we are taking. Actions our children are seeing daily on TV or words they are hearing at home. The children are listening and watching.

Bestselling Author Jody Sharpe Announces New Article, Bestselling Status For ‘20 Moon Road’

As a former teacher of special needs children, Sharpe has direct experience regarding the effect bullying has on children. Her award-winning, bestselling books help readers find hope, inspiration and gratitude.

Today's headlines are filled with turmoil and conflict. Something seems to be missing. Is this ongoing tension and discord the future we want for our children? If not, what can we do to change it?

When children experience love, they are more likely to develop strong social skills, empathy, and a positive self-image. This naturally leads to healthier relationships, reduced conflict, and a greater sense of community. Love inspires acts of kindness and generosity, which can ripple outwards, creating a more harmonious and supportive world. By instilling these values, we ensure that future generations are equipped to handle life's challenges.

In a recent article titled "The Angels Inspire My Words," Sharpe wrote in part:

In our world where turmoil persists, the inspirations from the angels have led me to write the following. In one hundred years from now all that will matter to many of us human beings on earth is that we tried to pass our love to our children and grandchildren. We are all watching how the bullies of the world try to break peace and the promise of a harmonious future.

On our fragile God’s green earth each of us can make a difference. Passing the love on will be for me a message of hope for a future for my loved ones. The greedy, the narcissists clearly don’t understand what they are missing and that as bullies they will never win.

We must pray for our world, pass the love around to our family and friends with kindness toward all others. Love is more powerful than hate.

Are We Teaching Our Children To Be Bullies Asks Bestselling Author Jody Sharpe

As a former teacher of special needs children, Sharpe has direct experience regarding the effect bullying has on children. Her award-winning, bestselling books help readers find hope, inspiration and gratitude.

As a society, we abhor the bully. The rejection of bullying has taken center stage in our collective consciousness, in large part due to the enhanced communication we experience due to social media. But, perhaps we have to stop for a moment and look at the real cause of bullying. Is it a learned behavior?

In a recent article titled "Our Children Should Be Our #1 Priority To End Bullying," Sharpe wrote in part:

I ask the angels throughout the day what to say in my blogs and words and sentences come to me. So the messages today are about our children and grandchildren. They deserve to learn about respect and kindness. Many children have been the victims of bullying whether they’ve been picked on for their special needs, or differences in race, color or shy and vulnerable ways. In any situation bullying is destructive to their well being.

Here we are witnessing leaders of our country bullying folks in the news while defending their actions. How sad it is. Don’t they know their children and other people’s children are watching, listening and learning it's the norm to bully?

When I was young, there was civility mostly in our society. I pray to bring us back to a more respectful world for the sake of our children, grandchildren and all around the world.

Compassion is as much a part of love as kindness is. We need to teach our children to be kind, respectful of others and kind and respectful to themselves. Teaching them every life is precious is primary for them to grow up to be productive, caring adults.

The Dog Who Came For Christmas: Meteorologist and psychic, Gayle Force Knight, proves to be a force to be reckoned with once more.

In addition, on the "Tuesdays With The Angels" section of her site, Sharpe presents stories of real-life encounters with angels. The stories are available at Sharpe's website at http://www.jodysharpe.com.

Sharpe hopes to create a collection of angel stories that involve sightings of angels, interaction with angels, miraculous angel encounters, and other types of accounts or stories. Everyone is welcome to submit angel stories. All submissions will be considered, but inclusion is not guaranteed. Stories may be submitted at http://bit.ly/2FV8amd.

Sharpe's YouTube channel brings all of this together, offering segments on all of these topics. One topic of special interest is bullying, specifically as it relates to special needs children.

In addition to the National Federation of Press Women’s award, Jody was chosen as a winner in the annual "50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading" Book Awards. She was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors through a public voting process.

Jody also announced recently that two new screen treatments of her books are now available: The Angel's Daughter and Town Of Angels Christmas.

Replace Fear With Gratitude To Create Joy Says Bestselling Author Jody Sharpe

As a former teacher of special needs children, Sharpe has direct experience regarding the effect bullying has on children. Her award-winning, bestselling books help readers find hope, inspiration and gratitude.

The universe holds endless opportunities to experience joy, if we will only choose to look for them. Bestselling author Jody Sharpe believes we will always find them. That is sage advice indeed. It is a new year, and now is the perfect time to begin.

In a recent article titled "Replacing Fear with Gratitude Will Find Joy," Sharpe wrote:

A new year comes and unfortunately our world still reels from a tumultuous 2024. There is a thought by many though that the world will improve, that hate can dissipate, that love can find a way to unite us here on our beautiful earth. It’s just a speck in the vast universe and yet we are made from all the components, the fabric of life but still so many are blind to that thought. Hate is powerful but Love is the most powerful force of all.

When I ask for inspirations from the angels they come in words and phrases. Lately. the phrase has been, let gratefulness replace fearfulness. Would it really be that strange to think that attitude and hope could be the catalyst for ending wars and hate?

I’ve written many times that after my daughter passed away I met a man who I’m sure was an angel. I feared my life had no meaning and gratefulness and joy were seemingly gone. Hope was a thing of the past. Yet meeting the angel with his comforting presence started to change my way of thinking. I could be happy again, I could find courage to go on and love those left to care for including my fellow man. Bitterness, I vowed, would never show its face, I had work to do as a teacher, a parent, a wife and a friend.

Now and forever, I look for hope for our world as I ask for inspiration from the angels.

Iconic Film, It's A Wonderful Life, Helped Inspire Bestselling Author Jody Sharpe's Mystic Bay Series Of Books Featuring Angels Who Live As Humans

As a former teacher of special needs children, Sharpe has direct experience regarding the effect bullying has on children. Her award-winning, bestselling books help readers find hope, inspiration and gratitude.

Why do some stories become classics? Out of the hundreds of thousands of stories available to us through books and movies, what is it that sets a minuscule percentage apart from all the rest, moving that story into a category defined by timeless appeal? Is it the compelling plot? The well-developed characters? The emotional resonance?

Bestselling author Jody Sharpe addressed this in an article posted on her site. In that piece, she said in part:

"Many remember the Christmas story where George Bailey is contemplating suicide by jumping off the town bridge into the river. His family business has been ruined, he thinks, by the antagonist, the wealthy and ruthless Mr. Potter. But all is about to change when George is about to jump into the water and unbeknownst to him, Clarence, his guardian angel is sent from heaven to help.

Clarence jumps in first crying for George to save him. George jumps in and saves Clarence. Clarence tells George he is his angel and shows him what life would have been like had George never been born. All the goodness George showed his family and neighbors would never have happened and Mr. Potter would run the town into the ground.

This classic in humanity helped inspire me to write my nine books. I believe in angels and I believe they are here for us all, sometimes seen and most times unseen. In this time of war in parts of the world and sorrow plaguing so many, I continue writing about love, forgiveness, redemption with angels at the helm."

New Young Adult Fantasy Book, Big Ears Jack And Friends, Now Available From Award Winning Author Earl Vincent de Berge

The book is a collection of tall tales featuring extraordinary animals and plants from the Sonoran desert of Baja California. It is a literary experience for young readers that can help ignite a passion for the natural world.

Animal books have always been important in the lives of kids. Books about animals have been favorites of children of any age, from newborns to teens. Most are both entertaining and educational. Seldom however do we find a book that features that special class of animals found in the Sonoran desert of Baja, California. That is the focus of Earl Vincent de Berge's latest story book about animals, 'Big Ears Jack and Friends', a book that would make a perfect gift for youngsters and for Moms whose children love to hear stories about coyotes, foxes, jackrabbits and other desert animals.

This new young adult fantasy book is an enchanting collection of 15 short fantasy stories celebrating the wild animals and plants that live in the hottest desert in the Americas, on the narrowest peninsula in the world, Baja California, Mexico.

The main character in these charming stories is Big Ears Jack: a very big jackrabbit with huge ears -- and magical powers to use for good! Jack is the king of desert kindness, a good friend to all desert critters.

Among Jack’s friends readers will meet Nosey and Wag, mischievous coyote brothers; Blue Dasher, a racing dragonfly; the Kangaroo Rat Chorus; tree-lizard Boris; Giro the dust devil; Hawk Conchita and the red ants; Lady Treble Clef, a watchful cactus; Paulina, the puma poet; Diana the musical tarantula;  Lady Chrona, a sea lion  who dreams of flying; a scheming sea gull named Swindler; the beautiful bobcat Miss Mucha Purrs; Mr. Shellie the chatterbox tortoise; and Young Red Fox and his sweet love, the lovely rabbit Adorna -- along with many others.

And just for fun, a short essay is included about how to enjoy a hike or walk in the desert in a safe and respectful way.

'Big Ears Jack And Friends' is now available in Kindle and softcover version at Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Ears-Jack-Friends-Earl-Berge-ebook/dp/B0DM6PR8HW?ref_=ast_author_dp. Add it to your Christmas shopping list today.

Earl Vincent de Berge is also the author of 'A Finger of Land on an Old Man’s Hand'. This coming of age memoir is more than just another adventure story; it’s a meditation on resilience, friendship, and the inescapable pull of self-discovery. Each challenge—be it physical or emotional—becomes a steppingstone in the explorers’ evolution, perhaps reminding readers of their own capacity for growth. It offers a compelling testament to the human spirit's capacity for transformation.

The Baja Peninsula serves as both a backdrop and a mirror. It immerses readers in four explorers' transformative journey through Baja California in 1962 and 1964, inspired by 'The Forgotten Peninsula' by Joseph Wood Krutch.

Photography enthusiasts will be thrilled to know the book offers a treasure trove of previously unreleased photographs of the area.

One reviewer called the book, ". . . a beautifully written, fabulous tale of an incredibly brave and daring journey." ReaderViews, in their 5-star review said, "A Finger of Land on an Old Man’s Hand by Earl Vincent de Berge is the stark, witty, and profound memoir of four college students testing their limits on the Baja Peninsula in the summer of 1962. One could think of this as the classic literary assignment, 'How I Spent My Summer Vacation.' Only to do so would be to grossly underestimate this narrative."

Earl’s adventures in Baja deepened his youthful fascination with the Sonoran Desert and its plants and animals, and inspired him to write a collection of charming stories for young readers. The main characters are Big Ears Jack – a huge magician jackrabbit – and other animals, birds and plants of the Sonoran Desert and its coastal regions. 'Big Ears Jack and Friends,' is now available on Amazon in both print and e-book formats and would be a unique and delightful addition to anyone’s Christmas stocking.

The book took Best In Category 2024, Nonfiction, from the Arizona Authors Association.

To date, Earl has also published three collections of his poems, 'Allegro to Life,' 'Swans to Carry Me,' and 'Wind in the Elephant Tree,' which touch on nature, human nature, love, desert silence, and life in Guatemala.

All of de Berge's books are available at Amazon and other online book retailers. More information, including an excerpt from the book and a PDF of selected photos from 'A Finger Of Land On An Old Man's Hand', with insider details revealing Baja in the 1960s, is available at his website at https://www.earldeberge.com/.

Bullying As A Social Norm Is Addressed By Bestselling Magical Realism Author Jody Sharpe

As a former teacher of special needs children, Sharpe has direct experience regarding the effect bullying has on children. Her award-winning, bestselling books help readers find hope, inspiration and gratitude.

Unfortunately there are forms of bullying that often go unnoticed, flying beneath the radar, yet have profound and lasting impacts. One such covert form of bullying is the targeting of legal immigrants. This behavior is becoming normalized in our society, and it's possible that, without realizing it, some of us are inadvertently passing these harmful attitudes on to our children, as they watch what we do and then copy it.

Bestselling author Jody Sharpe believes we should take a moment to recognize and challenge this form of bullying, ensuring a more inclusive and respectful environment for all. She recently addressed this issue in a piece on her site titled, "Bullying Legal Immigrants Is The Opposite Of Kindness". In that post she said in part:

In the news, the political bullies are spreading falsehoods about legal immigrants. All of us, unless we are of Native American descent, come from people who made many sacrifices to get to our democracy in the United States of America.

Bullying everywhere across the world should stop. I remember when my late daughter, Kate, as a six- year- old, brought home a friend from school. I spoke to the mother on the phone and Kate never mentioned the girl had a different skin color or was from a different country. Children are born with goodness in their hearts. However, many adults in our beautiful world are teaching bullying by their words and actions. How unfortunate to lie to our children about people from other ethnicities or countries.

'The Dog Who Came For Christmas' again features meteorologist and psychic Gayle Force Knight, who proves to be a force to be reckoned with once more.
