Derek Randel, author and nationally recognized school bullying expert, is featured in '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'. The book was written and produced by The Authors Show. He was chosen for the book as the result of his release of his sixth book, The Stopping School Violence Manual.

"It takes more than an author," stated Mr. Randel, "to make a book a success. The Authors Show is dedicated to helping authors and is a fantastic organization. I am truly honored to be included in '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'."

Mr. Randel is an expert on school bullying and violence. School violence is an unfortunate occurrence that has been sharply on the rise in the United States and countries all around the globe. The numbers are staggering: 160,000 kids miss school everyday due to bullying and school violence. 950,000 students across the United States bring weapons to school every month. Schools now report that over a quarter of a million students per month are being physically attacked during the school day.

"Silence only benefits the bully," said Mr. Randel. "School violence and bullying will never completely disappear, but it can be reduced significantly. This is not a problem that can be solved by doing nothing. One’s individual right to an education shouldn’t take away from the education of 25 classmates. We are cheating our children by not standing up to the bullies and removing the habitual ones from school."

In The Stopping School Violence Manual, Mr. Randel provides up to the minute information regarding:

Handling cyberbullying
Addressing sexting
Empowering your child
Approaching the school to get results
Addressing dating violence
How schools could reduce bullying

“As a society,” stated Mr. Randel, “we need to stand up and hold bullies accountable for their actions. Rules and laws need to be enforced or they are pointless. Bullies do not have the right to poison our schools and they do not have the right to take education away from others.”

Mr. Randel offers parenting workshops, individual parenting coaching and teacher and staff workshops covering school violence and bullying issues.
