50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading: Last Call For Entries For 2016 Awards Program

The awards contest has been dubbed the "People's Choice Awards" of author awards programs

The annual "50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading Awards" contest is still accepting entries for the 2016 awards contest.

While most awards programs hand out awards for books, "50 Great Writers" take a different approach. It is the ARTIST behind the book who is the focus of the "50 Great Writers Awards Contest". Most authors overcome tremendous challenges and work very hard to bring their work to market. "50 Great Writers" looks for the "story behind the story".

Most people are familiar with the Oscars. Some awards are for best movies, others are for best actors/actresses. Using this analogy, the "50 Great Writers" contest is like giving the Oscar for best actor/actress. The contest is built upon a "People's Choice Awards" framework, as the public votes on the best author story, submitted by contestants.

Authors must build long-term platforms and a fan base to create ongoing sales and achieve success. People buy books because of the personality behind the work. A great book has very little long-term market value if the author remains relatively anonymous. It is for these reasons the "50 Great Writers Awards" contest focuses sharply on the real story and the personality behind the book to create a unique awards program that focuses squarely on the artist.
