Award Winning Historical Fiction Novel For Young Adults, The Amber Crane, Weaves Fantasy And History Into An Engaging Coming-Of-Age Story Filled With Adventure, Mystery, Intrigue, And Romance

Malve von Hassell is a freelance writer, researcher, and translator. She holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from the New School for Social Research. She has published nine books and a number of journal articles. The book was awarded a Five Star Medal by The Historical Fiction Press Awards in 2021.

Pushing the boundaries of time-slip fiction and of imagination, award winning author Malve von Hassell's 'The Amber Crane' is a tale of a journey from the past into an unimaginable future, set in two devastating wars three hundred years apart and steeped in the lore and legends of amber from the shores of the Baltic Sea.

The book was awarded the Coffee Pot Book Club Silver Medal for Young Adult Historical Fiction and Fantasy in 2021 and an Honorable Mention for Historical Dual Timeline / Timeslip fiction by the Historical Fiction Company

In this highly praised novel, a mysterious piece of amber takes Peter, an amber guild apprentice in Pomerania in the waning years of the Thirty Years’ War, on a journey in time from the Thirty Years' War to World War II.

Clutching precious amber found in a clump of seaweed, Peter has a choice to make. Despite the severe penalties imposed on such an action, Peter keeps the amber and works on it in secret, with potentially disastrous consequences for people close to him. Meanwhile, unaware of the amber piece’s magical powers, Peter finds himself drawn into a world three hundred years in the future where he gets embroiled in the troubles of a mysterious stranger.

The Amber Crane is an enjoyable historical fiction that introduces readers to the amber trade, medieval guilds, the historical region Pomerania along the Baltic Sea, and two major wars in that same region, three hundred years apart. Written for young adults 12+, the book would also be enjoyed by adults, especially by readers interested in history. There is no outright graphic violence, even though violence and the holocaust are all referenced. Hence, it would be suitable for younger readers. The main character is 15.

Readers have given the new historical fiction novel high praise:

“The historical background of this novel has been depicted with a keen sense of understanding for both periods. Malve von Hassell has penned a novel of intrigue, danger, and consequence. All actions have outcomes, and this book gives a wonderfully rounded idea of the significance of Peter taking the pieces of amber, breaking the rules, and how it affects the lives of those around him. Everyone is affected in some way by his actions, and that extends far into the future, three hundred years into the future, to be exact. Taking the amber had both good and bad outcomes, and this novel explores the idea of just how far the effect of one decision can spread.

The Amber Crane by Malve von Hassell is a novel that is well crafted. Like a master craftsman working with the finest of ambers, this novel is an object of beauty and elegance.” Coffee Pot Book Club editorial review

“Malve von Hassell does an outstanding job in setting up a very exciting and unique story from the opening pages and inciting incident.”

“The author has a knack for sentence structure and word usage which engages a reader every step of the way as if pulled along by the magical amber stone. This is recommended for someone who wants a taste of fantasy and history woven into one, focusing more on the characters rather than the massive details of the Thirty Years War and WWII." Historical Fiction Company editorial review

“Malve von Hassell brings us dreamscapes of endurance and light amidst the twin horrors of the Thirty Years and Second World Wars she has thoroughly researched. Peter harnesses the magical properties of his secret amulets, which catapult him into time travel and the parallel settings of 1644 and 1944. Despite a backdrop of unspeakable devastation, this is not a dark tale.”

“The Amber Crane is a well-paced and truly engaging coming-of-age story filled with adventure, mystery, intrigue, and romance. This superbly crafted novel successfully weaves together elements of historical fiction and science fiction fantasy to portray how its young heroes face challenges and overcome adversity in a sophisticated narrative spanning three centuries and two devastating wars. Highly recommended!”

Lyons brings readers stories no one else could write. Her books feature quantum level adventures that combine science with  spirituality blended with reincarnation, time travel, ancient  powers and alien forces. She is now offering full ghostwriting services to the public.

Multi-award winning author Dana Lyons has announced she is offering full ghostwriting services to members of the public for both fiction and nonfiction books.

"Ghostwriting has been around since writing began," Lyons stated. "There has always been, and always will be, people who want their name on a book cover or document, yet don’t know how to go about it. While writing and publishing a book is an exhaustive endeavor not for the faint-hearted, the first thing you must have is the idea for the book."

"Many people have the story idea, but don’t know how to get it out of their head. Or they don’t know how to get it onto paper. Here is where a ghostwriter comes in. I just completed two ghostwriting contracts. Because of the NDA, I can’t tell you what I wrote, but I can say it was an interesting task I enjoyed. All the plot outlines, along with world and character basics were provided. I was hired to get into the characters heads and flesh out the details."

"My next novel, a time travel romance, title to be announced, comes out July 1st . But when I’m not writing for myself, I am available for hire for ghostwriting projects long or short, fiction or non-fiction. Whether you’re a celebrity wanting to produce a romance novel, or a congressman writing a tell-all, a ghostwriter is what you need."

Dana Lyons creates stories no one else could write. Her books feature reincarnated lovers, time traveling souls, and an epic battle against ancient powers and alien forces.  All of her books are fast paced, engaging and enlightening, written in contemporary time with modern elements as well as scenes from the ancient past. The Immortality Of Reincarnation - Multi-Award Winning Author Dana Lyons Uses Reincarnation As Basis Of Engaging Plot For Paranormal Novel, 'A Love Reborn'

Lyons brings readers stories no one else could write. Her books feature quantum level adventures that combine science with  spirituality blended with reincarnation, time travel, ancient  powers and alien forces.

Dr. Jim Tucker recently made the shocking claim that our souls can live on after death. In Dr. Tucker’s book, 'Life After Life: A Scientific Investigation of Children’s Memories of Previous Lives', he reveals what he learned from 15 years of interviews with 2,500 children who showed evidence of knowledge of prior lifetimes. The belief in reincarnation has been with us a long time, and is still widely regarded as real in Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism. The Catholic Church held reincarnation as true until the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD when Church doctrines were standardized and all references to reincarnation were removed. Even quantum physicists have scientific findings to support the theory of reincarnation.

Speaking to NPR, Dr. Tucker said: “Some leading scientists in the past, like Max Planck, who’s the father of quantum theory, said that he viewed consciousness as fundamental and that matter was derived from it. … in that case, it would mean that consciousness would not necessarily be dependent on a physical brain in order to survive, and could continue after the physical brain and the body dies.”

In 'A Love Reborn', archeologist Phoenix Donovan scoffs at the mysterious warnings  given to her by a psychic during a tarot card reading. But the words of the psychic begin  to ring true when she receives an envelope marked with the Feather of Maat, and a visit  from Egyptian national, Asa Ducaine. With the offer of a job of a lifetime, Phoenix  travels to an ancient, pristine site near Egypt that dates back to 8,000 B.C.E. Why is she here? Why does it all seem so familiar? Why is she afraid? After ten days in a coma, Max Parrish awakens with memories of a past life and a woman he has to find at all cost. Driven beyond reason to the sands of northern Africa, he comes face to face with a love he couldn’t have imagined, along with a dark and deadly magic that could destroy more than just their lives.

Are second chances possible?

"Reincarnation is the ultimately immortality," Lyons stated. "In my book, 'A Love  Reborn', archaeologist Phoenix Donovan explores an ancient site that was her home in a  long-ago incarnation. Other players from that lifetime slowly appear: a lover, a murderer,  and a book of power. Given the ultimate ‘do-over’, Phoenix again faces a threat that ended her life once before."

Why We Love Time Travel Novels - Award Winning Author Dana Lyons Puts Time Travel In A Believable Context In 'Heart Of The Druae'

Lyons brings readers stories no one else could write. Her books feature quantum level adventures that combine science with spirituality blended with reincarnation, time travel, ancient powers and alien forces.

In an article by Rachel Donoghue published this week in the UK Daily Star, a photo supposedly taken in 1917 shows a modern-dressed "surfer dude" sitting on the beach alongside people dressed very differently. Is he a time traveler? Many people believe he is.

We love the concept of time travel. A very large number of books, movies and television shows have presented the concept of time travel in wildly different ways. Nevertheless, somehow it just doesn't seem to be believable. Award winning author Dana Lyons utilizes the time travel concept in a slightly different way - she makes it believable.

"We want the surfer to be exactly that - to be a time traveler and not a Photoshop caricature," Lyons stated, "as humanity loves time travel stories, and something within us believes time travel is possible if we only knew how. The 'do-over' option, whether it comes through time travel or via reincarnation, titillates us with limitless possibility. What would you do differently to change the events in your life? How far would you go to change the events in the lives of millions?

"I utilize time travel in my first adventure romance, 'Heart of the Druae'. The variable in all time travel stories is the mode of travel. A popular theme is to travel in a device. Or the event may be dictated by a perfect alignment in time and space along with the application of organic natural forces--the mode of travel I use in my novel."

Dana Lyons creates stories no one else could write. Her books feature reincarnated lovers, time traveling souls, and an epic battle against ancient powers and alien forces. Centuries Old Cell Phone Artifact Presents Modern Day Mystery - Award Winning Author Dana Lyons Sees The Possibilities In Such An Impossible Scenario

Lyons brings readers stories no one else could write. Her books feature quantum level adventures that combine science with spirituality blended with reincarnation, time travel, ancient powers and alien forces.

Out-of-place artifacts fascinate us by presenting an impossible scenario.

Just last week the internet was abuzz over an 800 year-old mobile phone with cuneiform writing on the touch pad, discovered by archaeologists in the Salzburg district of Austria. A photograph in an article by Jon Austin published in the UK last week by The Express presents us with yet another out-of-place artifact that is as interesting as it is mystifying.

Whether the mobile phone proves to be authentic or a hoax, there are many other instances where artifacts of a more technological time were found in ancient scenarios. Rene Noorbergen offers multiple examples of ooparts in his book Secrets of the Lost Races. Are they all hoaxes? Or is their presence a message from the past to the future, a sign of time travel, or evidence of ancient technology?

"In 'The Rosetta Coin', the first adventure novel in my two-part series, a unique coin bearing unearthly symbols is discovered in an unlikely location near the Great Pyramid," Lyons stated. "Because no one could place the language written on the coin, it was shut away until a bold archaeologist finds another person possessing a similar coin with the same writing.

"In regards to writing paranormal fiction, the impossible scenario is exactly where I want to send my characters. It's in the impossible-this-cannot-be situation that characters face something beyond what they are prepared for. The more severe the scenario, the farther that character has to reach to survive and grow--completing their arc. This makes the ride all the more thrilling for the reader who is there facing the impossible scenario with the character."
