The Female Baby Boomer Generation Shaped Women's Rights Gains Says Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, Author Of Women's Freedom: The Dawn Of Possibilities

Women's Freedom, The Dawn Of Possibilities, will be available at no charge in ebook form April 14 and 15, 2026 at Amazon.

Female baby boomers may be the grandmothers of today, but we should never forget that this group played a crucial role in the advancement of women's rights. As they entered the male dominated workforce and higher education in greater numbers than previous generations, they challenged traditional gender roles and expectations. New influential organizations such as the National Organization for Women (NOW) in 1966 marked a significant turning point, as these women campaigned for equal pay, reproductive rights, and access to education. These women bravely confronted systemic discrimination, leading to pivotal changes in legislation, including the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and the Title IX Amendment in 1972.

That time period is the subject of Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein's latest book, 'Women's Freedom: The Dawn Of Possibilities' available at no charge in ebook form April 15 and 16 at Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/stores/Barbara-Becker-Holstein/author/B001JXEZ8U?.

In this engaging book, the lives of two young women, Madison and Ginger, take center stage. As they prepare to embark on their college journey in the fall of 1960, they are filled with excitement and anticipation to leave their homes behind and embark upon new adventures. From moments of heartfelt laughter to deep, unsettling fear, and everything in between—this story is filled with romance, mystery, and a dash of nostalgia that will evoke a whirlwind of emotions.

The backdrop of historical events and cultural shifts serves as a poignant reminder of the complexities these young women faced, offering a blend of humor, challenge, and romance. With limited resources and support, Madison and Ginger navigate a landscape where pregnancy often meant grappling with heart-wrenching decisions, from motherhood to adoption and beyond. It is an unforgettable journey filled with thrilling twists, and endearing friendships.

In the first book in this series, 'Women's Freedom, Unfinished Love Stories', Holstein turns back the clock to the 1960s, introducing readers to three young college women at a pivotal moment in both their personal lives and the history of women’s rights. Through their experiences—marked by sexual awakening, identity struggles, and the pursuit of purpose—Holstein captures the emotional and psychological terrain that defined a generation.

What do their stories reveal? Although the cultural landscape continues to change today, the fundamental yearnings for autonomy, love, and self-expression endure as timeless and unwavering truths. Their journeys mirror the collective experiences of women across decades, making this novel not only deeply moving but profoundly resonant.

The book is available at Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/stores/Jody-Sharpe/author/B00DPL3382?.

Other books by Jody Sharpe include:

To Catch an Angel - Jody is also the author of 'To Catch an Angel', written in memory of her late husband Steve. In 'To Catch an Angel', miracles happen in Mystic Bay, California, the town with the psychic and angel vibe. Angels are calling. Psychic Maggie Malone returns home to find she's swept up in the miracle of it all. She can't imagine why her mother left or who her father might be. But these questions pale in comparison to the wonder of the angels. Maggie meets writer, Noah Greenstreet. They realize they've met before, but where? Maggie and Noah embark on a journey to find our world is all awash with angels.

Town Of Angels - it's angel vs. Bully in the town of Mystic Bay, California, where a well-kept secret lies. Angels live as humans there. After angels appeared to three children, all was blissful in the town full of psychics, and ordinary folk. But as brute, Klaus Waxman, comes to town, angel Ken Leighton, a storeowner, must carefully guide his flock of humans not to give in to the bully's efforts. As Klaus opens a store mocking the resident angel sightings, angel Ken guides psychic Justine Greer, and her family to thwart his efforts. And with the help of the indomitable oldest psychic in town, Madam Norma, the bully meets his match through the soft voices and intuitive minds of his neighbors.

Town Of Angels Christmas - The bully never wins. A secret lies in Mystic Bay California. Angels live as humans there. Angel Ken, a storeowner, fears the secret will be revealed when vet, Jordana Hart, a woman with special healing abilities moves to town.

Years before Angel Ken materialized as an old man, changing the course of her life. Will Jordana recognize Angel Ken as the man from her past as they work together on a rescue mission to bring twenty-two horses to Mystic Bay before Christmas, will they see what lies before them, a Christmas story only the angels could write.

Special Needs Children, The Angels On My Shoulder is a memoir based on her twenty-five years teaching children with special needs. The book placed second in the National Federation Of Press Women's At-Large Communication contest. The book is as entertaining as it is illuminating. It's a love story about the special students and others who over the years graced her life with just that, their grace.

With hearts of angels and challenges to face, the children took Sharpe along their journeys and inspired her own life's journey of self-discovery. When sorrow came, their kindness helped her through. The synchronicity of events from high school to retirement changed her life for the better, turning her face toward heaven.

Midwest Book Review stated, "Sharpe's ability to see the good in circumstances and people identifies the 'special' in 'special needs' as she delineates her journey through the education system and those teaching and social encounters which changed her perspective and life."

"Teachers (especially those working with special needs kids) will find this spiritual and social reflection easily accessible. It's presented in vignettes which offer small, digestible bites of insight into a world where angels and kindness are present in more than one form."

The Dog Who Came For Christmas - Meteorologist and psychic, Gayle Force Knight, proves to be a force to be reckoned with once more. While Gayle was sleeping, an angel sent her a vision of a future event. With her intuition, Gayle wonders, will she really meet the dog in her dream and save another one?

With the help of her intuitive husband, Alex Knight, and friends, Gayle sets on a course to rescue many more. But with surprising twists and turns of intrigue, both Gayle and Alex find there are always angels at the helm as they ride on their coattails.

20 Moon Road, An Angel's Tale - Miracles still happen in the town of Mystic Bay California. Angels live as humans there. Angel Ken, a former football coach, is surprised when his late best friend, the indomitable psychic, Madam Norma, appears in spirit form and asks him to write the story of her life through her memories she will send him. Surprising to Angel Ken, Madam Norma saw thousands of angels since childhood.

Special Needs Children followed her recently released children's book about angels, When The Angel Sent Butterflies. The new book helps children understand that love from their parents and others surrounds them. Love conquers fear, and believing that angels are near can help sweep any childhood fear away. This concept is presented in the book when Angel Ken sends Jones and Kate butterflies. The book, appropriate for ages 2 to 7, is now available at Amazon and Ingram.

One of her latest books, Summer Of Angels, is a mystery novel. Meteorologist and psychic, Gayle Force proves a force to be reckoned with as she moves back to her beloved Mystic Bay, California. While sleeping, an angel sent her a vision in a dream of a future event. Gayle realizes she must use her intuition to save an old man from drowning. But who is this old man?

With the help of intuitive attorney, Alex Knight, she finds they are caught in the middle of a future crime. But can Gayle and Alex solve the case and save the old man before it’s too late? With surprising twists and turns of intrigue and love, Gayle and Alex find there are angels at the helm as they help prove the bully never wins.

In addition, on the "Tuesdays With The Angels" section of her site, Sharpe presents stories of real-life encounters with angels. The stories are available at Sharpe's website at http://www.jodysharpe.com.

Bestselling, Award-Winning Author Nancy Hicks Marshall Announces New Book, Six Who Stopped The Steal

'Six Who Stopped The Steal’ debuted as an Amazon Hot New Release, and has recently achieved bestseller status

On January 6, 2021: The man who lost the elections said: “We will Stop the Steal.” On January 6, 2026, Marshall will hold a press conference on the Plaza outside the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Auditorium, 205 West Jefferson Street, Phoenix, Arizona.

This will be the “launch” of her book and a call to restore respect for the integrity of elected officials who follow their conscience and the law. She and others will describe in brief how the election process works and why we should re-commit ourselves to working within and supporting the ever-improving institution of elections in our United States Constitutional democracy.

Among those invited to speak are: Adrian Fontes, current Secretary of State of Arizona and former Maricopa County Recorder; Stephen Richer, former County Recorder; and Steven Gallardo, current member of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors and one of the six who stopped the steal.

On November 3, 2020, of of the best-run, most heavily scrutinized elections in U.S. history delivered a victory for Presidential candidate Joe Biden against his opponent, then-President Donald J. trump. Independent audits verified the valid results.

Mr. Trump and his allies decried the process and declared Mr. Trump the winner—in spite of all evidence to the contrary. They called for action to “Stop the Steal.”

Yet, on November 20, 2020, Five men certified the valid election results for the winner. It was they who stopped the steal. Others in the Arizona House and Senate prevented an illegal reversal of the results and an immoral abuse of power.

‘Six Who Stopped the Steal’ is the extraordinary true account of six men in Maricopa County, Arizona—the fifth largest county in the United States and a critical swing state—six men who stood up for the Constitution, the law, and their integrity.

The 2020 elections were an emotional flash point for millions of Americans. It was such a tumultuous time that we forget how chaotic the times were then. In January of 2020, COVID-19 landed on American shores. Confusion reigned as, even while thousands were dying, some denied that COVID was real. In May, 2020, the nation suffered a tidal wave of disruption after a video went viral showing the death of George Floyd under the knee of a Minnesota police officer. Some cried ‘racist murder’ while others witnessed the racial riots that followed.

Six Arizona men disclose what moments in their youth made them men of integrity. Each one’s unique story played a significant role in upholding the valid election results. And each one faced multiple threats to their lives.

The ebook version will be available for $.99 through January 6, 2026, on Amazon.com.

In the early Endorsements of ‘Six Who Stopped the Steal’, author Nancy Marshal emerges as a person uniquely placed to bring this critically important story to light. Marshall is a multiple award-winning author who already understood the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. In 2009, she defended one of four activists who had been unconstitutionally arrested in their auditorium. Her successful defense led to the novel, “A Dry Hate”, winning first prize for fiction at both state and national levels, in which the cross-examination of the sheriff’s deputy is surrounded by events exposing the harm done by abuse of power.

In 2021, shocked by the treatment of these six men (only one Democrat) by their fellow-Republicans, Marshall set out to learn the inside story. What she discovered was both the story of six courageous public servants and the more complicated story of the all the major events surrounding the 2020 Presidential election—and its aftermath.

We begin with each man describing, in his own words, sometimes with vulnerable honesty, what events caused them to seek integrity as adults, and as public servants. Marshall then invites us into contemplation of what ‘monsters’ in our lives may cause us to reject evidence that is undeniably true—and what ‘monsters’ abounded in 2020. She then conquers a ‘monster’ of her own—the complexity of the election process—to provide a clear, understandable description of what has become a very sophisticated system.

The rest is history—history of the election, history of what each man did to stop the steal, history of how the results were audited and certified, and some of the fallout from the lies and personal attacks upon these six men.

Readers of ‘Six Who Stopped the Steal’ mix praise for the author with high esteem for the men who are the true heroes of this narrative. “Six Arizona leaders who stood their ground,” a testament to honesty,” a “fascinating portrayal of these courageous men,” and “true patriots” are among the comments. Marshall has been able to “showcase the elaborate steps of our election process that prevent fraud,” has written “a riveting book based extensive research,” and Six will be “a valuable resource to students, historians, and psychologists for years to come.”

The author cites several books worth reading if we want to understand these times better. ‘The God of Monkey Science’, by a Christian evangelical science teacher, explains some of the science denial that she says is unnecessary for persons of faith. ‘The Big Truth’ covers much the same time period of Six from a more academic perspective. And finally, ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ by Hans Christian Anderson is a reminder to us that adults may put on blinders, for many reasons, but children often see the truth more clearly.

Nancy Marshall is also the author of several award-winning books: ‘The Rattler’s Tale’ for elementary students; ‘A Dry Hate’ for adults; and ‘Finding Zachariah in a Community Garden’—a feral cat’s tale of friendship with and second chances for a vet and his broken family. Hundreds of copies of ’Zachariah’ were purchased by the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden for free signing and distribution to all visitors as a fundraiser for the community garden that was the literal site for the story. Marshall also translated ‘Rattler’ into ‘Un Cuento de una Serpiente de Cascabel’ for Spanish readers. Marshall avoids language and scenes that are too private or violent. Thus, young people can read all her books.

Nancy Marshall is available for media interviews and can be reached at truthtopower2026@gmail.com. More information is available at her website at https://NuggetPress.com.

About the Author:

Award-winning and best-selling writer Nancy Marshall is the author of ‘A Dry Hate’, the 2024 Arizona Authors’ Association and National Federation of Press Women’s winner of first place for adult fiction. ‘The Rattler’s Tale’ won an award in 2022 from National Federation of Press Women for children’s fiction and ‘Finding Zachariah’ has won awards in 2025 from both the Arizona Professional Writers and the Arizona Authors’ Association.

Born in New York and educated in the East, Marshall first taught high school history and government near Washington, D.C. Returning to New York City, she worked in affordable housing and eventually obtained her law degree from Rutgers University. Moving to Arizona in 1975, Marshall served for five years as the Executive Director of the Arizona Civil Liberties Union, and later as an attorney in the Juvenile Court.

Marshall has continually upheld her concern for fairness and opposition to abuse of power, whether in private situations or by those in government. This theme can be found in each of her books, whether novels or non-fiction. Retiring from law practice in 2010, she has been active as an author and is a member of several book clubs: The Arizona Professional Writers, the National Federation of Press Women, the Phoenix Writers Club, and the Arizona Authors’ Association.

Women's Rights In Danger Of Being Lost: Bestselling Author Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein Announces New Book, Women's Freedom: The Dawn Of Possibilities

In the tradition of authors like Judy Blume, Dr. Holstein pushes the envelope in covering the challenges girls really face, without sugar coating it or downplaying the feelings or passions young girls experience, regarding things that are important to them at this stage of their development.

Today, women are in danger of losing some of the rights granted them through the valiant efforts of women in the 1960s. We are all familiar with the names of women who were the leaders in those movements: Betty Friedan, Gloria Steinem, Shirley Chisholm, Angela Davis, Bella Abzug and many more. But what was life really like for the "Boomers" in the 60s? That is the subject of Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein's latest book, 'Women's Freedom: The Dawn Of Possibilities'.

In this book, the lives of two young women, Madison and Ginger, take center stage. As they prepare to embark on their college journey in the fall of 1960, they are filled with excitement and anticipation to leave their homes behind for a myriad of personal reasons. From moments of heartfelt laughter to deep, unsettling fear, and everything in between—these pages are filled with romance, mystery, and a dash of nostalgia that will evoke a whirlwind of emotions.

It is an unforgettable journey filled with thrilling twists, endearing friendships, and the timeless quest for independence.

That while the cultural landscape may evolve, the core desires for autonomy, love, and self-expression remain timeless. Their journeys mirror the collective experiences of women across decades, making this novel not only deeply moving but profoundly resonant.

Speak From Your Heart and Be Heard By Dr. Kixx Goldman Offers Inspirational Stories Of Trauma, Courage And Healing

'Speak From Your Heart And Be Heard' contains fictionalized inspiring stories, based on real life and professional experience.

For those suffering from trauma of any kind, healing is of paramount importance, as it helps individuals to reclaim their lives, restore a sense of inner peace, and foster overall well-being. Trauma can affect a person deeply, emotionally and physically, leading to a range of symptoms and difficulties. Healing from trauma promotes resilience, empowering individuals to regain a sense of control, rebuild trust in themselves and others, and cultivate healthier coping mechanisms. This paves the way for personal growth, enhancing self-compassion and self-esteem, and empowers individuals to form healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

Inspirational stories possess a remarkable power to facilitate healing and resilience in the face of trauma. By sharing tales of triumph over adversity, these kinds of stories can provide a source of hope and encouragement for individuals grappling with their own traumatic experiences. They can offer a sense of integration and connection, reminding survivors that they are not alone in their struggles, and that it is possible to overcome seemingly insurmountable challenges and emerge stronger on the other side.

Inspiring stories can help provide a roadmap for healing, offering valuable insights, coping strategies, and the reassurance that recovery is attainable. Readers can find solace, inspiration, and the motivation to embark on their own journey of healing and growth.

This healing process is the focus of Dr. Kixx Goldman's most recent book, 'Speak From Your Heart And Be Heard'. In this book, Dr. Goldman explores the nature of intuition and resilience. When people honor their intuition, the "little voice" inside, and speak openly about their feelings, they thrive in their relationships.

The eight engaging fictional stories in this collection are personal, drawn from experiences in Dr. Kixx's life and the lives of her clients. The characters are tested by everyday traumas . . .

• A devoted father and his daughter find hope in rewriting their past.
• With remarkable grit, a teacher escapes a surprise attack.
• To heal his childhood wounds, a man must conquer his fears.
• A therapist defies the establishment to protect her clients.
• As she confronts the church, a therapist regains her standing.
• A woman learns the risks of not speaking out.
• By sharing her story and bonding with peers, a woman overcomes her trauma.

As the characters in these stories find the courage to triumph over their challenges, they heal and grow.

Inspired by real life people, characters show us how we can find the courage to transform difficult and traumatic life experiences, speak our truth and reclaim our power. 'Speak from Your Heart' offers the reader a guided tour of unique and powerful approaches to healing trauma. An added feature and treat for readers, Behind the Scenes reveals more about the source of the stories.

"This book is about Bringing our Stories to Life. And it’s about how writing can change your life,” Goldman noted.

“Creating this collection of short fiction has been transformative. After my children were grown, I had time to rediscover fiction.

“That’s when I decided to follow writer Toni Morrison’s advice, ‘If there’s a book you really want to read but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.’

“Before I knew it, I began to write about my life and the words flowed. Stories animated by my personal experiences, and my professional work with clients, made their way onto the page. Filtering the stories through the lens of fiction helped to breathe life into the characters and illuminate their relationships.

“I reached into the recesses of my soul to create these stories.”

The book has received rave reviews from readers and reviewers. Leslie S. Greenberg, PhD, distinguished Research Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Psychology, York University said, " In each story, the characters' resilience is illustrated by how they transform difficult life stories into constructive final narratives. They find the courage to triumph over challenges to heal and they grow. The message of the book: speaking one's truth makes for desired change and healing."

In her review, Liz Moulden said, "The short stories from Speak From Your Heart And Be Heard have given me a second chance and a voice, the voice I never had. What's exciting about this book is each main character in these short stories experienced some kind of abuse/ trauma but each finds their inner voice. With help, they're able to heal. Anyone who has ever experienced abuse or trauma as I have will be able to see snapshots of themselves in these stories."

In addition, Dr. Goldman offers a treasure trove of related information on her blog. Her articles span topics from diversity to human relations, psychology, single parenting, immigration and children, marriage and family and much more. The blog can be found at her website.

The Rain Falls On The Just And The Unjust, New Inspirational Christian Book, Announced By Bestselling Author Donna Louis

Louis is the bestselling author of three inspirational Christian books. Louis’ books reveal God’s desire for our happiness and joy.

The stressors we face today can be overwhelming. While mass shootings and police brutality form the lion's share of our current, insanely negative headlines, there is much more all of us must deal with day in and day out. Political conflicts in the US are at an all-high. Inflation is hitting everyone, creating even more unnecessary stress. As always, we must deal with ongoing natural disasters like drought and climate change. High profile wars, marches and violent protests by groups that feel marginalized or oppressed, the ongoing effects of Covid - how do we handle such an onslaught of negative news?

Christians have always turned to their faith. Prayer, reading the Bible, spiritual counseling, group projects and gratitude form the core strategies for people of faith. Now we have another resource that can help Christians make sense of the world and transform these situations into pathways to gratitude.

Bestselling author Donna Louis has announced the release of a new book, 'The Rain Falls On The Just And The Unjust', that can help us find peace in the midst of adversity.

As much as Christians or believers of God would like to believe that just because we acknowledge God in our lives, we should never have any sorrow, it is untrue. We will all have challenges, disappointments, and unfair situations arise in our lives but, as believers of God, we are to handle ourselves so that unbelievers will want to become like us. We are to trust, have faith and believe that God has our back and will keep us lifted above, fight our battles, and always cause us to Triumph.

This book follows the release of her best selling motivational book, Book of Proverbs, Proverbs For The Modern Day. Book of Proverbs recently ranked #1 in Best Sellers for Christian Inspirational, #1 in Best Sellers for Christian Devotionals, and #2 in Best Sellers for Christian Spiritual Growth. The book received a 5 star rating from Readers Favorite.

Donna Louis added, “I have told you these things so you may have peace in Me. In the world you will have much trouble. But take hope! I have power over the world! – John 16:33. The same way in which a conductor–maestro directs an orchestra, that is the way God directs our steps. He knows the plans that he has for us and the glorious future he wants to give us. If we would just communicate with God via prayer and spend time in his presence, since his greatest desire is to have fellowship with us, we would enjoy the greatest lives even in the challenging times when the rain falls on the just and the unjust. What we need to do is just like the patrons of the arts and music do when they attend a concert. We just need to settle into our seats, get comfortable, and enjoy the presentation. If we would just allow God to keep control of the baton, the same way the conductor of an orchestra does, we would have a wonderful life.”

'The Rain Falls On The Just And The Unjust' is available at Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/stores/Donna-Louis/author/B00P5Z3OV2?ref=ap_rdr&store_ref=ap_rdr&isDramIntegrated=true&shoppingPortalEnabled=true.

If you are struggling with daily life itself or maybe even deeper issues like suicide, anxiety, hopelessness, and depression these books will help you. Surprisingly, the answer to these and many other challenges have been around for thousands of years. If you're looking for hope, peace, happiness, prosperity, wisdom, and the fullness of life, look no further.

'Book Of Proverbs: Proverbs For The Modern Day' delves deeply into the timeless human quest for wisdom. As all Christians know, the primary purpose of the Biblical Book of Proverbs is to teach wisdom. The Book of Proverbs provides intellectual depth, insights, and exceptional wisdom on how to live a meaningful, joyful and tranquil life by honoring and respecting God as omnipotent.

This updated version of 'Book Of Proverbs: Proverbs For The Modern Day', discusses all chapters in Proverbs 1-31 and brings insight, clarity, and basic meaning to several verses in each chapter. It clarifies why wisdom is not only essential, but mandatory in life, if one hopes to live a blessed life, versus living destitute, empty, or feeling lost or hopeless. The book is rated 4.9 on Amazon. One reviewer stated, "If you want to gain wisdom this book is yours. Great book."

Donna Louis’ previous best-selling book, ‘Thriving in Every Season of Life with God’, gives us a road map to create a mindset - a new life in which we can learn to prosper in any circumstance, however dire. This book achieved bestseller status in two categories: Spiritual Self Help and Motivational Self Help.

To understand what it means to "thrive," we must look beyond the dimension of finances. The concept of thriving can be applied to our health, our relationships, our habits and our peace of mind. God wants us to thrive. But it does not just happen - we must take action to make it happen.

Set against the backdrop of four "seasons of life", Louis, in the tradition of writers such as Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer, discusses how you can thrive, prosper, and flourish. Much like growing crops, we prepare in spring, grow in summer, harvest in fall and rest in winter. At times, we must nurture and cultivate, at other times we bloom and reproduce, and at other times we harvest and replant.

'Thriving In Every Season Of Life With God' is a book that can be read in just a few hours and provides readers with powerful ideas and concepts that can be implemented immediately, allowing them to thrive in the midst of adversity. The book received a five-star rating from Readers Favorite.

Donna Louis' first book, 'Miracles of Direction, Miracles of Conquest, Miracles of Provision and Miracles of Purpose' helps readers explore miracles both past and present. The book explores biblical miracles that took place while Jesus was here on earth. She then references with miracles that take place on a daily basis in the modern world. She separates these miracles into four categories and presents insightful examples of each type, taken directly from the Bible.

Louis knows her subject well, as she has personally experienced four miracles. As the result of those life-altering experiences, she began an in-depth study of some of Christianity's most well-documented miracles. In her book, she attempts to expand upon and explain both the purpose and the direction of those miracles.

Louis has won a number of industry awards. She was chosen as the winner in the 2018 Top Female Author Awards in the Religion/Philosophy/Spiritual category. Louis was chosen from an international field of contestants by a panel of judges. She was also a winner in the 2018 50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading Awards.

Louis' recent wins follow three awards in the 50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading Awards contest (2015, 2016 and 2017), and two nominations in the Top Female Authors Awards.

'Miracles' has received rave reviews from readers. One review called it "amazing, uplifting and inspirational". Another stated, "I was profoundly impressed by the writing."

Award-Winning Author And Travel Writer Mark D. Walker Announces New Travel Book, My Saddest Pleasures: 50 Years on the Road

Walker is the author of several award-winning books and articles, one of which was recognized in the Solas Literary Awards for Best Travel Writing.

Author Mark D. Walker has announced the release of an epic new travel book, “My Saddest Pleasures: 50 Years on the Road.”

My Saddest Pleasures borrows its title from one of iconic writer, Moritz Thomsen’s works. It shines a sometimes-lovely, sometimes-piercing light on the countries he visits. In this captivating book, Walker reflects on his fifty years of travel miscalculations and disasters and how and why his travels changed over the years, as has who he traveled with.

As a young Peace Corps Volunteer with no overseas travel experience, the world was his oyster, and he figured he could go anywhere if he set his mind to it—with little or no money. Then he married a Guatemalan lady and had to think more about “our” needs; then, three children meant additional requirements and responsibilities. And later, as a professional fundraiser, he would set up donor visits to program areas where the organizations he represented needed funds, which meant considering the needs of up to fifteen individuals of all ages, including children and some donors in their 70s and 80s. He became a savvier trekker, although he was still prone to the occasional snafu. The book is part of the “Yin & Yang of Travel” series.

“After more than fifty years traveling to some of the most isolated, dangerous parts of the world, I decided to write what I think readers will find as an invaluable portal into the world of timeless travel and what can go wrong. After all, these ‘saddest pleasures gave me eyes.’”

His first book, a memoir titled, Different Latitudes: My Life in the Peace Corps and Beyond, was recognized by the Arizona Literary Association for Non-Fiction. More than 25 of his articles were published in literary journals ranging from Ragazine, Literary Yard, Quail Bell, ELAND and WorldView. He is a contributing writer for the Revue Magazine, a Guatemalan English language publication, Literary Traveler and Literary Yard. He has a column in the Arizona Authors Association newsletter, “The Million Mile Walker, What We Read and Why.” His reviews can also be found on the Midwest Review Bookshelf and GoodReads. Two of his essays were winners for the Arizona Authors Association Annual Literary Awards. This year, another article from his “Yin & Yang of Travel” series, was recognized with the Bronze in the Solas Literary Awards for Best Travel Writing, which is sponsored by Traveler’s Tales.

Walker has received rave reviews from readers and reviewers such as Midwest Review. "My Saddest Pleasures” differs from most both in its size and in its succinct considerations of how travel changes not just self, but the environments that the traveler encounters. The combined flavor of wonder, new experiences, ecological and social reflection, and adventure brings with it a newfound opportunity to understand the traveler's impact on a deeper level than most. Domestic and foreign experiences alike are outlined with these lessons in mind.

Susan Pohlman of the Writers Network in Phoenix said, “…Mark Walker celebrates fifty years of wandering the globe, from isolated areas of the highlands of Guatemala to the highest reaches of the Andes to his present home in the desert Southwest. In his engaging and informal style, Walker shares his trials and tribulations. Whether you’re an armchair traveler or a seasoned one, Walker’s life and travels will be an inspiration!”

The editor of the Arizona Authors Association. Katy Cook said, “In this glorious little travel chapbook, Mark relays his epic journey through life in a vivid, emotional, humorous and insightful account. His remarkable passage through dangers and delights gives witness to the fact that, whether traversing precarious depths or astounding peaks, he has always truly lived, unlike many armchair adventurers. Mark evidences the fact that you don't need money or connections to travel the world. All you need is courage, fortitude, and a yearning to experience all the different flavors of life. Mark was obviously blessed with those gifts in abundance, as well as one more: an incredible wife. His description of Ligia evokes a deep respect in me. She's the kind of woman I'd love to know as a friend. In fact, I'd love to meet both of them and revel in their myriad and fascinating stories, and perhaps share a round of that intriguing "tiger milk." Until then, I'll keep reading all of Mark's wonderful tales.”

Mark D. Walker is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at mark@millionmilewalker.com. His books are available at his website, online book outlets and at the Cyberwit website at https://www.cyberwit.net/publications/1919. More information is available at his website at https://millionmilewalker.com.

About Mark D. Walker:

Mark Walker was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guatemala and spent over forty years helping disadvantaged people in the developing world. He managed programs abroad with CARE and Plan International and for over thirty years raised funds for such organizations as Food for the Hungry, MAP International, Global Brigades, Make-A-Wish International and was the CEO of Hagar USA, which supports survivors of human trafficking. A long-time Rotarian, Walker was the Club President of Scottsdale North Rotary, the District World Community Service Chair and active in the Youth Exchange program where all three of his children went abroad. He’s a recipient of the “Service Above Self” award from Rotary International and a Board member of “Advance Guatemala.” His wife and three children were born in Guatemala.

US Strike On Al Qaeda Leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri Is Long Overdue Says Joseph M. Lenard, Author Of Bestselling Historical Fiction Novel, Terror Strikes

Al-Zawahiri was killed by US forces in Afghanistan on Sunday.

On Monday, President Biden announced that a counterterrorism operation took out Ayman Al-Zawahiri, an Al Qaeda leader involved in the September 11 attack on the Twin Towers in New York City as well as being a major player in the slaughter of Egyptian Leader Anwar Sadat in 1981. The operation took place nearly 11 years after the 9/11 attack on US soil.

"Finally," was the first phrase bestselling author Joseph M. Lenard uttered. He then went more in-depth with his analysis of the situation:

"These strikes do more than just take out one leader. They have a cascading effect of turmoil within the ranks of the enemy. Several emerging leaders, wanting to fill the void created, might now create internal fighting as they jockey to take Al Zawahiri's place. While they squabble within, they have less time to plot large-scale operations, or engage operationally prior existing plans not yet undertaken. Local intelligence is more important than ever - to be vigilant against threats of smaller scale retaliation strikes from rogue sympathetic unofficial cells, or radicalized individuals that may react, similar to the Wisconsin Christmas Parade assault, that might be put into motion."

According to an article on NBC News, "In 2001, al-Zawahiri escaped U.S. forces when they invaded Afghanistan and toppled the previous Taliban government, which had refused to hand over bin Laden in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. Al-Zawahiri's whereabouts were long unknown."

As stated on the ABC News site, Biden, "hailed the operation as a significant win in the fight against terror groups overseas -- including, as the White House was quick to point out almost a year after the messy exit from Afghanistan, in countries where the U.S. no longer maintains a military presence." In the same article, Biden was quoted as saying, "We continue to mourn every innocent life that was stolen on 9/11 and honor their memories. To the families who lost fathers and mothers, husbands, wives, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, friends and coworkers on that searing September day, it is my hope that this decisive action will bring one more measure of closure."

Joseph M Lenard goes on to comment about the Biden address to the Nation regarding the Al Zawahiri assault on his Terror Strikes websites blog: https://www.terrorstrikes.info/post/al-zawahiri-was-killed-by-us-forces-in-afghanistan-on-sunday.

Honor. Integrity. Patriotism. -- For some people these are words. For bestselling author Joseph M Lenard, these are the core values that he embodies – every day - deeply ingrained in every facet of his life and work.

It is this set of cherished values he brings to life in his latest #1 bestselling historical fiction novel, Terror Strikes. The book has been compared to The Sum of All Fears and Deep Impact. Joseph M. Lenard shreds the “creative writing process formulaic methodologies” to create a writing style and literature like no other author before.

Billed as a book for conservatives, but appropriate for all readers, this extraordinary new book is a stunning achievement, set apart from even the best historical fiction books, as it clearly demonstrates the need for situational awareness and vigilance in a world in which mass shootings and other forms of terrorism have become the norm. Reviewers have called the book "compelling", "historically accurate", and utterly "unique".

Terror Strikes connects the dots of not just foreign terrorists, but those both foreign and domestic, that abhor Western culture and their attempts through terror attacks and other more shadowy undermining of our collective freedom to enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Bruce Fleury wrote in the foreword of Terror Strikes: "Joe Lenard’s book Terror Strikes, although a work of fiction, is especially timely and topical… [He takes] on an international crisis that, if not addressed with more urgency, threatens to condemn our descendants to live in a 7th-Century nightmare from which there may very well be no awakening.”

Whether you are a staunch conservative, a prepper, or just have concerns about what is happening in American life and society today, Terror Strikes will answer many of the questions you have regarding terrorism, foreign and domestic, and will make for a remarkable reading experience.

Joseph M. Lenard is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at jlenard@terrorstrikes.info. Terror Strikes is available at online and traditional booksellers. More information is available at his websites at https://josephmlenard.us and at https://terrorstrikes.info.

Joseph’s body of works contain copyrighted and published poetry. Joseph has written and recorded music, in the tradition of the Lenard family legacy; though not entirely in the tradition of his father Thaddeus (aka: Ted Lenard Jr), who was creator/leader of “The Polka Kings” that often toured throughout northeast United States.

In addition, Joseph has about a dozen copyrighted short-stories including Watchful Eyes (sci-fi), Blue Monday (political thriller), Funhouse of Terror (horror) to his credit, as well as one other novel titled, The Gestapo Kidnap File. January 6 Hearings and The Overblown Right Wing Extremist Terrorism Narrative Addressed By Joseph M. Lenard, Author Of Bestselling Historical Fiction Book, Terror Strikes

Lenard is the author of the #1 bestselling historical fiction novel, Terror Strikes.

Bestselling author Joseph M. Lenard recently addressed what has become known as the "right wing extremist terrorism narrative" including the “January 6 Hearings” (deemed as a White Nationalist insurrection). In the first post he presents powerful evidence that "there is very little credence to right-wing terrorism." Instead, he makes the point that it is an "overblown left-wing false narrative to peddle a left-wing agenda."

Specifically, he addresses the myriad of questions the false narrative peddling "January 6 hearings" Star Chamber Show leaders refuse to ask or address, as well as the evidence (or cross-examination under the 6th Amendment protections/guarantees) to counter the accusations and provide substantiation of exoneration. He also asks “where was the outrage,” when left-wing activists occupied both the Wisconsin and U.S. Capitol buildings, and the occupation of the Gallery and disruption (outburst attempts, in violation of Gallery Guest policy/rules,) to unsettle and influence the Kavanaugh hearings, years prior?

In the Washington Post, in a piece titled "Beware the data on American right-wing violence," by Megan McArdle, we find a number of important points that support that position. The article reads in part:

“I’m not cherry-picking a few ambiguous outliers; I’m arguably describing the majority of the incidents in the ADL’s 2021 report. Every one of these killings is a horrific tragedy. But it’s not clear they all have much to do with politics, as the ADL itself acknowledges.”

“One of the most striking features of white supremacist murders is the large proportion of non-ideological killings to ideological killings,” the ADL wrote in its most recent report. “Over the past 10 years, only 86 of the 244 white supremacist killings (35%) were ideological murders.”

One reason for this confusion is that all prison gangs tend to be organized along racial lines, for complex sociological reasons, yet only the White gangs are coded as white-supremacist groups rather than criminal organizations.

Lenard went on to quote Dr. Emeritus Rik Coolsaet, Thomas Renard in "What The Zeitgeist Can Tell Us About The Future Of Terrorism":

“In the United States and across Europe, there is a broad recognition that right-wing extremism has become either the main terrorist threat, or at the very least a seriously growing concern. The racially motivated attack by an 18-year-old in May 2022 in Buffalo (NY), deliberately targeting African Americans and killing ten people before being arrested, was but the latest in a long series of lethal right-wing plots and attacks in the West. In parallel, a relative decline of jihadi activities in Western countries has been noted, resulting in a new balance of (perceived) terrorist threats."

In response Lenard wrote that, "NEO-NAZI groups that exist/operate in America (and several Western Nations . . . ) are all LEFT WING organizations.”

Joseph M Lenard further addresses the issue during speaking engagements on this topic by talking about the lack of education, or rather indoctrination and mis-education, of American youth about Civics – with the proper doctrines - as the right-wing on the political spectrum is anarchy (no government, complete unobstructed freedoms of/for/by all), and the left of the spectrum (including Communism, Fascism, Monarchy, Socialism) is toward full-government controls by one-person, one-party, or “deep-state,” over populace and dictates, with the United States Constitutional Republic a center-right creation by our Founders. “A [representative, Constitutional] Republic, [not a Democracy, mob-rule society, where minority groups within populace retain rights] if you can keep it” as Benjamin Franklin famously stated. Calling left-wing groups like ANTIFA and more using anarchist associated tactics as “right-wing” is pure spin and deception to peddle a false narrative.

These issues/points are further addressed and expounded upon in the two original blogs at https://www.terrorstrikes.info/post/was-jan6-a-white-nationalists-insurrection and https://www.terrorstrikes.info/post/the-overblown-right-wing-extremist-terrorism-narrative.

Bestselling Author Joseph M. Lenard, Who Predicted Overturning Of Roe Vs Wade In Historical Fiction Novel Terror Strikes, Issues Statement On Supreme Court's Recent Rulings

Lenard is the author of the #1 bestselling historical fiction novel, Terror Strikes.

The Supreme Court's ruling overturning Roe Vs Wade has created a firestorm in the US, with all major news organizations carrying the story. The major networks, including ABC, NBC and CBS all approach the ruling from slightly different perspectives. CNN ran a story on how some states were moving quickly to ban abortion and how this will reshape politics. The New York Times noted the protests being held nationwide. Reuters stated that the Vatican is praising the decision. NPR provided a list of the states that have banned abortion.

In short, the Roe V Wade decision is one of the most polarizing topics in recent US history. That will likely not change any time soon. From the majority opinion: "Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences... It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people's elected representatives..."

Joseph M. Lenard, bestselling author of Terror Strikes, and member of Michigan’s Upper-Downriver Right-To-Life organization, predicted that Roe V Wade would be overturned in his book. He recently issued a statement, titled "OVERTURNED," on his website. That statement reads in part:

"Let’s be clear: RoeVWade was based upon faulty grounds. Even far-left Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg had admitted such. The grounds to murder babies was never actually established within flimsy privacy question of that ruling. So, can I murder someone as long as I do so in the privacy of my own home if I promise to sell off their body parts like PP does? (of course not).

“I knew thee before you were formed in your Mother’s womb.

"One does not have to take the Word of someone from the ACLJ or conservative group to understand this. Ruth Bader Ginsberg, in speech to University of Chicago Law School, admitted RoeVWade was a very narrowly focused ruling and she lamented how it did not go far enough toward deciding the actual broader issue of abortion (and establish the ability to kill a child in the womb). Many failed in the decades that followed, in holding the narrow-ruling, but instead allowed Democrats to falsely establish a broader doctrine of/from that ruling via lower court liberal-activist rulings."

The full piece is available at https://www.terrorstrikes.info/post/overturned-just-as-other-bad-precedences-were-previously-overturned-so-too-now-roevwade, and even includes access (audio) to WAAM Radio “Abolitionists RoundTable” show/discussion (of which Joseph took part) about the Roe overturn, facts not feelings, what must come next.

From “Terror Strikes” book…

"Abolitionists, the primary founders of the Republican Party, overturned SLAVERY while Democrats insisted Blacks weren’t HUMAN. Likewise, the GOP will overturn Abortion while Democrats make the same false narrative today those babies are just a clump of cells in the womb and aren’t human...

The Republican Party was the sole driving force in getting passed the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments and under EQUALITY of ALL HUMANS Abortion would eventually over-turned as everyone knows, despite their denials, a HUMAN in the womb has Rights under the 14th Amendment..."    (page 79)

Honor. Integrity.

Terror Strikes connects the dots of not just foreign terrorists, but those both foreign and domestic, that abhor Western culture and their attempts through terror attacks and other more shadowy undermining of our collective freedom to enjoy life, individual/personal liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Bruce Fleury (author himself of: “The Negro Project: Margaret Sanger's Diabolical, Duplicitous, Dangerous, Disastrous and Deadly Plan for [killing] Black America“) wrote in the foreword of Terror Strikes: "Joe Lenard’s book Terror Strikes, although a work of fiction, is especially timely and topical… [He takes] on an international crisis that, if not addressed with more urgency, threatens to condemn our descendants to live in a 7th-Century nightmare from which there may very well be no awakening.”

Whether you are a staunch conservative, a prepper, or just have concerns about what is happening in American life and society today, Terror Strikes will answer many of the questions you have regarding terrorism, foreign and domestic, and will make for a remarkable reading experience.

Suicides Rates Rise Among Veterans, Police Officers, Even After The End Of Covid Lockdowns - Joseph M. Lenard, Bestselling Author Of Historical Fiction Novel, Terror Strikes, Shows Us How To Help Those Having Suicidal Thoughts

Lenard is the author of the #1 bestselling historical fiction novel, Terror Strikes. Suicide is a sub-theme in his highly praised book.

In a recent piece on Military.com, titled, "Since 9/11, Suicide Has Claimed Four Times More Military Lives Than Combat," it was stated that, "More than four times as many troops and veterans of the wars since 9/11 are believed to have died by suicide than were killed in the wars themselves, a new study from Brown University has found.

"In a paper released Monday as part of its Costs of War series, Brown's Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs estimates that 30,177 active-duty personnel and veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have taken their own lives over the last nearly 20 years."

That is staggering. And it is not only veterans. In a recent article on CBS17.com, it was stated that, "The suicide rate among law enforcement officers is rising. Nationwide, on average, the risk of suicide among police is 54 percent higher than workers in other industries."

These are but a few of the headlines in the news today detailing suicide rates in stressful occupations. We have also seen rises in suicides in other groups, most notably teens. Why is this happening and what can we do about it? Joseph M. Lenard, author of the bestselling historical fiction novel, Terror Strikes, recently posted an article in which he offers an up close and very personal look at suicide, and offers advice regarding how we might help those who are having suicidal thoughts. In that article, he said in part:

"Back in 2018 we had two high profile suicides with Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain in just a couple of days’ time, but on average 22 Veterans commit suicide daily. Sadly too, those who serve as first responders often fall prey to thoughts of suicide, as well as those with survivors-guilt from heinous criminal and terrorist acts (I discuss this as a sub-theme in my book: Terror Strikes – Coming soon to a City near you!). My thoughts and prayers go out to their families. I have had several on-air interviews with local radio show hosts, over the lockdowns about the spikes in suicide attempts due to the even greater isolation, especially among teens.”

"Why do I speak with local radio about suicide? I certainly do not often share this publicly; though the local hosts know; but in 2006 I attempted suicide via an over-dose on drugs. Obviously, that was not a successful attempt - as I'm still here. Every day and every night I still struggle with and fight those feelings, so I know what they deal with.”

"I had lost my job and gone onto Social Security Disability in 2004, that led to divorce, which culminated one night in 2006 that something just snapped. Note: others' situations will obviously be different, especially our Veterans suffering PTSD, but regardless of what may seem minor to you, are major catastrophes in their mind and may lead to the same dark place and that suicide is the right option. It is not.”

"For me, it was almost surreal, like I wasn't even in control of myself as I took one pill (regular nightly dose) and then, just took another, then several, then a handful. I have no idea how much time later, I awoke in the hospital. I still, all these years on, struggle daily with these thoughts and issues.”

"This is something that can afflict male or female, young or old, rich or poor, whatever. I hope that Spade and Bourdain and their families have found some degree of peace. I hope you will join me in thoughts and Prayers, and if you don't mind - if you could include me in those that I can find God's comfort and strength, I'd appreciate it.”

“So, now would be a good and important time to reach out to all your family and friends and remind them how much you love them and how much you appreciate them being around. You are not likely to know that someone in your circle is feeling this way. I can't speak 'statistically', but only from my own circumstances and feelings, that they are likely to also feel that they cannot reach out to you - as you will not understand, or may be dismissive, or think less of them. They may."
