Life After Death, The Death Of A Child, And The Challenges Of Loss - Author And NDE Expert Brian McLaughlin Issues Statement

The parent/child bond is addressed by McLaughlin from an entirely unique perspective, as he met his father during his near death experience. That experience is detailed in his multi-award winning book, 'A Flight Without Wings'

Nobody wants to face the challenge of dealing with the loss of a loved one. This is especially true when that loss is the loss of a child. For it is then that plans for the future turn into memories of the past.

Though our family, friend, counselors and clergy want to help us, nobody can give us what we need most of all. Kind words can only go so far. Well intentioned advice necessarily falls far short. The challenge faced by grieving parents is a challenge very few people can understand. At the heart of that challenge is an overwhelming need on the part of survivors for assurance that the deceased is really okay.

Brian McLaughlin recently addressed these concerns in a piece posted on his site. He stated, in part, "Life After Death is a challenging concept for all of us when facing the loss of someone special and the Death of a Child especially. Family dynamics change and personal relationships may suffer. Parents who face the Death of a Child may feel that their whole 'game plan' has been violated. The addition of children into a family creates a focus that seems to supersede all. Should those parents experience the Death of a Child, the focus is so disrupted that it proves to be difficult to recover from."

"This would be considered true for a death of any family member, or friend. Plans for the future turn into memories of the past. I don’t think it is ever a matter of finding a way to refocus or replace, but rather a matter of management. I have found that allowing a place to memorialize the person works better than expecting to forget. Talking about the loved one seems to be more cathartic than not. Frustration and hurt appear to remain on the front burner and becomes very disruptive in one’s life going forward."

"Investigating and accepting the possibility of an afterlife may prove to be a help in managing your loss. In my case, my short visit to Heaven has afforded me a different perspective on death and loss. I know from my event that I was comfortable, fulfilled and at peace. It changed my whole concept of loss. Although obviously it still hurts, some of the concerns about the loved one being 'OK' are satisfied.”

Brian's book about his near death experience, 'A Flight Without Wings' offers readers a look at the near death experience from an unbiased point of view. It is the presentation of the material that sets this book apart from the other books about the near death experience. It is raw and it's real. There is no embellishment and no hidden agenda. While his book has a spiritual flavor certainly, there is no preaching and no religious messages. It is his near-death experience, just as it happened.

McLaughlin's experience changed the course of his life forever.  It instilled in him what we all seek - certainty about life after death. And with that a peace of  mind that can never be shaken, nor can it be doubted. His near death experience brought a sense of clarity. It brought a sense of real, lasting peace. He now knows with certainty that we exist forever. It is that simple message he brings to his audience, both through his book and at his speaking engagements and in his media appearances.

Brian has won numerous awards. He was chosen as one of '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' in both the 2015 and 2016 Book Awards.

Reviews of 'A Flight Without Wings' have been overwhelmingly positive. Dr. Penny Sartori, author of 'The Wisdom of Near-Death Experiences', said "This book will help others who have had an NDE to make sense of their experience and will also help those close to someone who has had an NDE because NDEs affect close family members and friends too."

Jack Magnus, a reviewer with Readers Favorite, called the book a "well written and moving memoir that neither delves into the fanciful or dogmatic,...”  "…Well worth reading, and is highly recommended." Another stated, "Being a mother who lost her only child I found it to be a great comfort to me." Another said, "I have read many accounts such as these, but this beautifully written account simply touched my heart in ways that previous ones have not."

A review posted by a reader stated, ”I was advised to read this book after I lost my 18 year old daughter and 40 days later, my mother. I was really struggling with faith and where my daughter was, if she was ok, at peace, happy? All the things people tell you. This book helped me tremendously. Gave me the peace I very much needed and also the hope that I will see her again when it's my turn. . . . This is the book I always need to have in my collection, because unfortunately, with such a tragic loss I would need to read it again and again to keep the peace inside. I actually have given as gifts to people who like me are struggling. Thank you Brian McLaughlin."

Mark Feuerstein, Actor (Royal Pains, USA Network, Prison Break, 9JKL) wrote: “I have read it and I think it’s an inspiring tale of deep insight and so personal and yet so universal . . . such profound perspective.”
