National Hug Your Hound Day Created By Ami Moore, The Chicago Dog Coach
Nationally recognized dog expert Ami Moore, The Chicago Dog Coach, has declared the 2nd Sunday in September 'National Hug Your Hound Day'. The holiday was created to increase the bond between dogs and their owners and to help dog owners see the world as dogs see it. Moore was the focus of an article written for 'The Dog Blog', by Jen Reeder, award winning pet writer.
"National Hug Your Hound Day," Moore stated, "is celebrated annually on the 2nd Sunday in September. This day is dedicated to celebrating the bond between you and your dog. National Hug Your Hound Day is about truly observing your dog (from their point of view) in their environment and everyday life and for just one day to see the word as your dog sees it. As you celebrate your beloved dog , remember that today is about keeping our dog’s healthy, happy and safe at home and in our hearts."
Ami Moore's desire is to make America more 'pup friendly', as it is in Europe. She would like for our dogs to be accepted in more places, especially public ones such as taxis, malls and restaurants and to appreciate the companionship our dogs give us and the value of it, both emotionally and physically.
How can we make America more 'pup friendly'? In the Dog Blog piece, Moore's advice is to " . . .take your dog everywhere you can. In most states, the way the law is written, you can take your dog anywhere as long as food is not being served. Have people hug your dog. Say, ‘Would you like to pet my dog? You can hug him – give him a treat.’ It’s a holiday to bring dogs to people who might not have them in their lives.”
"Spend a little extra time with your dog, get down to their level and make sure their environment and the places you take them are warm, comforting, inviting and safe. Oh yeah, and give your hound a hug."

Ami Moore, The Chicago Dog Coach, Strongly Urges Dog and Cat Owners to Avoid Licensing Their Pets In The United States
A recent article on the KCRW website in Los Angeles addressed the problem of unlicensed dogs in the LA area. The professed benefits of licensing pet dogs and cats are to provide the means to reunite owners with lost pets, help curb disease and reduce stray pet populations. Ami Moore, a Chicago dog training expert widely known as 'The Chicago Dog Coach', believes this issue may be looked at in another way.
“I believe that mandatory licensing of dogs is an unfair tax on dog lovers. I do not believe that the government has the right to make you pay a tax for owning a dog or cat. Another occurrence that I see is that cities will make you pay an increased fee if your dog or cat is intact, yet current research shows that dogs that are left intact, the way Nature intended, live longer, are healthier and have greater resistance against cancer and glandular diseases,” says Ami the Chicago Dog Coach. “I think the government needs to stay out of my pocketbook and out of my dogs panties.”
"I am also against penalties for vets if the don’t release the names of dog owners and their dogs to governments. I believe that what happens between a vet and a dog owner is private and the medical professional cannot and should not be compelled to give lists of client’s names to the government."
"I am sick of the current 'Nanny-State' mindset of our country where every act of personal freedom and pleasure is controlled and taxed. If people want to donate to shelter and rescues, then let them do that instead of paying a tax on their pet. I have not seen any evidence that licensing contributes in better health or welfare of either owned dogs or dogs in pounds or shelters."

Ami Moore, The Chicago Dog Coach, Offers Tips To Avoid Vacation Guilt For Dog Owners
Ami Moore, a Chicago dog training expert widely known as 'The Chicago Dog Coach', was quoted in the Boston Globe recently in an article entitled, 'Leave room in your carry-on for pet guilt'. The article covered the concept of 'pet guilt', which strikes owners who go on vacation and are forced to leave a family member behind. This can inflict emotional trauma on the pet and can be a source of real stress for both owner and pet. In the article she offered practical and real world advice for pet owners.
“Dogs don’t recognize us as humans, or dogs, or alpacas, or anything else,” Moore stated. “They see us as an energy field. The trick is how you leave them when you go on vacation. If you leave with happy energy, then you’re giving them happy energy. If you leave them with negative energy like ‘I’m worried,’ ‘I’m afraid,’ ‘I’m guilty,’ then the dog will act the same way.”
“The dog is very easy to change because dogs are natural followers. Nature likes balance and strength. Humans like drama trauma cases. People like Lindsey Lohan and Kim and Kanye. Nature doesn’t. Nature runs away from that or kills it.”

Ami Moore, The Chicago Dog Coach, Supports The Mental And Emotional Health Of Returning Veterans By Training Emotional-Assistance Service Dogs
The program, entitled 'Hounds4Heroes', is a coordinated effort with The National Institute of Canine Experts (NICE) and provides training for service dogs at no charge
Ami Moore, a Chicago dog training expert who is widely known as 'The Chicago Dog Coach', recently appeared on the The Beacon Radio Show with host Bill Jurek to discuss the training of emotional-assistance service dogs for veterans. Her program, entitled 'Hounds4Heroes', provides training for service dogs free of charge.
The program, which is a coordinated effort with The National Institute of Canine Experts (NICE), provides training for the service dogs free of charge. The program is a grassroots effort to assist the servicemen returning from the Middle East wars to recover from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), Trauma, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injuries) and Anxiety Disorders. Both disabilities often occur together and insurance companies do not cover the use of service dogs to assist the veteran with symptoms associated with PTSD and TBI. Therefore, to obtain such a dog, a veteran would be required to pay $10,000 to $50,000 out of pocket. In the 'Hounds4Heros' program, there is no cost to the veteran.
"Our PSTD service dogs," stated Ms. Moore, "are trained to relieve the mental stress of violence and war from the minds of our veterans who are returning from Iran and Afghanistan. Our dogs are living medicine that heals the war-torn mind. Psychological, neurological, and cognitive disorders show no outward identifying marks. It is important to understand that not all disabilities are visible; not seeing something is wrong outright does not mean there is no disability."
"These dogs are trained to help veterans with PTSD, trauma, Traumatic Brain Injury, mental stress and emotional stress by providing comfort and support during their activities of daily living. Our Chicago dog training program is unique in that we help the veteran pick out the dog of choice and help the veteran train the dog to meet his or her unique needs. As a way to show our appreciation, we provide the Chicago-based service dog training for free to qualified veterans."

Chicago Dog Coach Ami Moore's 'The Alphatude Attitude' To Be Used As Part Of Curriculum at Vancouver Island College Of Natural Wellness
The program educates students about the importance of proper animal nutrition and holistic health including proper animal food preparation
The Chicago Dog Coach, Ami Moore, CMT, CMVT is a a leading expert in dog psychology. Her much acclaimed book, 'The Alphatude Attitude' has been made a part of the curriculum at the Vancouver Island College Of Natural Wellness. The program will educate students about the importance of proper animal nutrition and holistic health including proper animal food preparation, alternative healing methods for animals and many other subjects. The program is divided into 16 comprehensive lessons, covering every aspect of holistic nutrition and preparation for animals. Students in the program will gain hands-on experience by completing 5 animal specific cuisine creations.
"I so very honored," stated Ms. Moore, "that 'The Alphatude Attitude' was selected as part of the curriculum for the canine holistic health class of VICNW. Canine health and wellness is one of my top priories as a Chicago dog trainer and dog expert. Most dog behavior problems stem from physical or mental imbalances, so providing solid advice in proper nutrition, alternative healing methods and natural, holistic techniques to create equilibrium in both the dog and owner are part of my unique style. These methods work very well on rescue and shelter dogs that suffer from severe behavior problems such as aggressive behavior, barking and fearful, nervous anxiety attacks."
Vancouver Island College Of Natural Wellness strives to deliver eco-friendly Holistic Health Education. VICNW offers the Weight Management Coach Practitioner, Anti Aging Coach Practitioner, Holistic Nutritional Consultant, Master Herbalist, Holistic Health Practitioner, Homeopath, and Holistic Chef for Animals home study programs in downloadable formats. Their programs empower students to make a significant contributions to positive change.
"When I first began writing the 'The Alphatude Attitude'," continued Ms. Moore, "I wanted to make dog owners aware of the impact that their emotions have on their relationship with their dog. The public's reception of my book has been overwhelming, as it seems that there is a serious lack of awareness of the energy link between dog and man. VICNW has honored me by adding my book to their curriculum so that their students are introduced to my concept of 'mind to mind' training. I have always told my clients that 'dogs are just like toddlers with superhuman powers.' Toddlers with superhuman powers need the perfect balance of affection and authority which equals Alphatude (the act of gentle leadership) to keep themselves and the world safe.

Author Ami Moore, The Chicago Dog Coach, Offers Tips To Help Heal Dogs Using Healing Energy
We need not look far for information on how our energy as dog owners can help heal our dog’s behavior problems. The question The Chicago Dog Coach, Ami Moore believes everyone needs to ask is: Are we really getting the full story on how our energy heals our dogs? If the mainstream media provides any clues, the answer is no.
[July 26 Chicago IL] It is a given that our energy can help heal our dogs behavior problems. Ami Moore, The Chicago Dog Coach, believes energy can heal much more than this.
“It’s time we separate fact from fiction," stated Ms. Moore, "and myths from truths. The real story here is here, right in the palm of your hand. Your thoughts and feelings are transmitted to your dog and can help immediately heal your dogs’ behavior problems. I teach my clients that dog massage is the best way to increase their dominance with their dog and to immediately boost their dog’s health."
At the recent Dog Day Afternoon luncheon and seminar sponsored by the Animal Ministry of the Chicago Bodhi Spiritual Center, The Chicago Dog Coach astounded the audience with her demonstration of dog-friendly healing tips and massage techniques. She offers the following tips regarding the benefits of therapeutic dog massage:
1. Calms the Dog
It has been proven by experts that dogs bark and make noise more when they are restless, tense, hyperactive or aggressive. A good massage therefore helps them relax and ultimately makes them quieter.
2. Reduces Pain and Inflammation
Just as humans feel a lot of relief to their aching muscles after a good massage, the same happens to our dogs. Extremely beneficial for very active dogs; and even for dogs that are couch potatoes.
3. Increases Immune System Function
Gentle massage triggers the chemicals that affect the dog’s hormonal system which brings down the level of stress hormones that weaken the immune system.
4. Improves Blood and Lymph Flow
It stimulates blood circulation and flow of lymph which then increases the amount of oxygen that reaches tissue and flushes out toxins and waste which increases overall health.
5. Decreases Pain
Massage instructs the brain to release pain-killing endorphins.
6. Reduces Stress
Dogs that are exposed to a routine of massage tend to be less aggressive, less hyper and less nervous as they become adults.
7. Decreases Healing Time From Injuries
Dogs have been treated effectively with a good massage, which restores restores mobility and flexibility.
8. Builds A Proper Alphatude Attitude in Dog and Owner
It helps to build trust between people and their dogs. It can increase awareness of subtle changes in a dog’s physical conditions that may be precursors to disease.
9. Heightens Concentration and Alertness
Helps increase the dog’s ability to concentrate on difficult tasks, improves the dog’s memory and sharpens intelligence.
10. Promotes Longevity
Routine massage will help dogs live longer and more productive lives. If the dog is geriatric, dog massage will help reduce pain and physical infirmity.
Ami Moore is widely recognized as one of America’s leading dog training masters. She has dovetailed her love of learning, her coaching skills and her love of dogs into the creation of a vibrant company that has enabled her to create harmony between homeowners and dogs in homes all over America. With over 20 years of experience in the field she invests a tremendous amount of time giving back to the community. As a dog trainer, personal coach and therapist, she assists non-profit organizations in creating and implementing therapy/service dog programs in schools, churches, community centers, prisons and other businesses.
"In my book, 'The Alphatude Attitude'", continued Ms. Moore, "I talk about how the human component, particularly the feelings of fear, anger and frustration, influence a dog's behavior. The human learning to control their emotions is an important part of this process. I always tell my clients that their dogs need leadership more than love. ‘Alphatude’ is the leadership attitude expressed in a way that the dog understands. Dogs don’t really understand abstractions like words or emotions. Dogs understand concrete communication: tone, body language and facial expression.”

Dogs are just like us and can do things that are AMAZING. My show will show it all. You have to go beyond the Dog Whisperer and get into the dog’s soul, as I teach in my book, The Alphatude Attitude. This is a subject that holds universal appeal with the public and is the reason I believe this show could draw huge numbers of viewers.'"

Dogs understand concrete communication: tone, body language and facial expression. Being chosen as the next TV star would allow me to bring this message to a much wider audience.”
