Author And Artist Nancy Ballard Auditions For Oprah's Search For The Next TV Star

Much like Byron Katie, Nancy Ballard's Loving You Essence Portraits can provide a simple yet extremely powerful transformational experience. Ballard's 'You Celebrating You' entry features Loving You Essence Portraits

Oprah Winfrey has put out a call for the next TV star. Author Nancy Ballard submitted her taped audition. Ballard's 'Loving You Essence Portraits' celebrates identity through art and demonstrates that we can all come to realize that we are perfect, regardless of our perceived imperfections.

"The 'Loving You Essence Portrait'," stated Ms. Ballard, "has proven again and again to allow the subject to begin to see themselves in a different light. Three different portraits are created over a short period of time. Between each pose, I discuss what that particular pose demonstrates about the person. It is amazing to watch how one's self image and core identity can be transformed through exploring how the person perceives the meaning of each particular rendition. It can often be compared to watching a butterfly emerge from a cocoon - the story unfolds as we translate emotion, passion and memory into forms with vibrant color."

Finalists will be chosen by public voting. The individuals who create the top five (5) videos will join the finalist pool. These finalists will fly to Los Angeles for the next round of the audition process. In Los Angeles, the producers will select ten (10) cast members for the television competition series. One (1) slot on the television competition series is guaranteed to go to one of the top five (5) online favorites.

The top five finalists will move on to the finals and the winner will be chosen by Oprah Winfrey. To view the audition go to http://bit.ly/dixe0M

Nancy Seifer, Co-Author of "When The Soul Awakens", Sees "Uncle Boonmee Who Can Remember His Past Lives" As Sign Of Awakening

This year's surprise winner at the Cannes Film Festival, “Uncle Boonmee Who Can Remember His Past Lives,” may be signaling that humanity is awakening to the reality of the soul. Nancy Seifer believes this award reflects a growing acceptance of reincarnation in the West, and may indicate a deeper shift in perspective on life and death

The Cannes Film Festival gave its top prize, the Palme d'Or, to “Uncle Boonmee Who Can Remember His Past Lives.” Filmed in Thailand and directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, this work is an exploration of reincarnation through a dying man’s journey of discovery.

“The fact that the Cannes Film Festival awarded the top prize to a film about recalling past lives is full of significance,” stated Ms. Seifer. “It’s another sign that humanity is awakening to the reality of the soul—the higher aspect of ourselves that evolves through lifetimes of experience. The award adds to the evidence—in public opinion polls and popular books—that reincarnation is gaining acceptance in the West. It says a great deal about the shift in awareness that has been taking place over the past few decades.”

Based on modern esoteric teachings known as the Ageless Wisdom, “When The Soul Awakens” was written for people who are awakening spiritually and want to learn about the nature of the soul, the higher self, and the evolution of consciousness. It focuses on this turning-point in human evolution when millions of people are awakening to higher truth and exploring the journey of transformation.

In a chapter entitled “Rebirth,” the book reveals that a sense of having lived before is a sign that the awakening soul has begun to recognize its own reality and to realize the continuity of life. This chapter also explores the fact that reincarnation has been accepted by enlightened individuals of all eras, cultures, and religions in the West as well as the East.

While many people around the world have come to view this period as “the end-time,” Ms. Seifer and her co-author, Martin Vieweg, focus on the current global crises as the birth pangs of a new era that will unfold beyond 2012. In their view, the rising tide of human suffering that has swept the planet since the start of this millennium has sparked an expansion of spiritual awareness among people everywhere.

Ms. Seifer and Mr. Vieweg were recently awarded a Silver Medal in the 2010 Nautilus Book Awards for “When The Soul Awakens,” placing them in the ranks of previous Nautilus award-winners such as Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle, Carolyn Myss, and many others who have contributed to the universal stream of contemporary spirituality.

Rolland G. Smith, Emmy award-winning broadcast journalist, called "When the Soul Awakens“ the definitive work of research, eloquence and skillful attunement to the subject at hand.” John L. Petersen, world-renowned futurist, called it “a wonderfully written tapestry that not only illuminates the past, but also shines a bright light on what is on the horizon.” He added, “This is a very special, extraordinarily valuable volume for anyone who wants to actively participate in the biggest event in our history."

Seifer and her co-author Martin Vieweg are available for interview and can be reached using the information below or by email at booksatgwp@verizon.net. More information is available at their website at www.whenthesoulawakens.org. When The Soul Awakens is available wherever books are sold online and in bookstores everywhere.

When The Soul Awakens: The Path To Spiritual Evolution And A New World Era
ISBN: 978-0-9820047-0-8

Profile:

Nancy Seifer and Martin Vieweg have been studying and practicing the principles of the Ageless Wisdom for over thirty years. This book represents the harvest of their transformative journeys.

Nancy Seifer was an idealist and activist early in life, before finding her way to the spiritual path. During the 1960s, she was a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa, a staff member at the African-American Institute in New York City, and an aide for ethnic affairs to New York City Mayor John V. Lindsay. In the 70s she directed a program on women and diversity at the Institute on American Pluralism, where she wrote numerous articles, papers, and chapters for anthologies. Her writings on American working-class women include a monograph (Absent From the Majority,1973) and a book (Nobody Speaks for Me!, 1976) that are still in use at colleges and universities.

In the late 70s, Nancy embarked on a quest for spiritual truth that led her to the ageless wisdom teachings, and to involvement in several visionary endeavors. While directing the Center for Peace through Culture, she travelled to the Soviet Union in 1986—a trip that sparked a decade-long immersion in post-Soviet Russia as spirituality was reemerging there. After writing Russian Odyssey (2003), a spiritual memoir born of that experience, she began work on When the Soul Awakens in an effort to make esoteric wisdom more accessible to a growing body of seekers.

Martin Vieweg has been a student, writer, and lecturer within the esoteric community for over three decades. Early in life he pursued a wide range of spiritual teachings and practices—from Ernest Holmes’ “Science of Mind” to Edgar Cayce’s “Search for God.” While working at the Association for Research and Enlightenment in Virginia Beach he lectured on reincarnation, dream study, and extra-sensory perception. In the mid-70s he enrolled in a program for esoteric training at the Lucis Trust, publisher of the Alice Bailey books. He later joined the headquarters staff of the Trust in New York City, serving as co-director of a global meditation project and frequent lecturer. More recently, Martin served for many years as Director of Data Management for the United Negro College Fund in northern Virginia, where he and his wife, Nancy, coauthored When the Soul Awakens.

Hurricane season is approaching quickly. The Ant Lucy and the Hurricane is purely a piece of fiction, but it is based on the reality of the dangers of hurricanes that many southern and water coastal areas in the United States are affected by greatly. The book teaches children and parents a new fun way to be prepared for the hurricane season and how to deal with this natural disaster as a family.

Ami Moore The Chicago Dog Coach Shows Support For The Human-Animal Bond

Ami Moore, The Chicago Dog Coach, recently participated in the Bodhi Spiritual Center’s 2nd Annual Pet Blessing and Pet Memorial, facilitated by the Animal Ministry in the Connection Cafe in Chicago IL. She strongly supports the Bodhi’s 3rd Annual Pet Blessing and Pet Memorial in the Fall of 2010 and encourages all Chicago area dog owners to attend

Science has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that human interaction with animals makes us happier, healthier and gentler with other people. By encouraging a spiritual connection with the animals in our lives we can honor the wild animals that need our help to survive.

”You needn’t look far," stated Ms. Moore, "for information on the importance of honoring our bond with animals. You have to go beyond the Dog Whisperer and get into the dog’s soul, as I teach in my book, The Alphatude Attitude.

At the Bodhi's 3rd Annual Pet Blessing and Pet Memorial event, people will come together to celebrate the lives of the animals who have touched their own lives with music, videos, pictures and stories. Tears, joy and heartfelt celebration of the lives of dogs and cats that make human lives whole will fill the room.

“Even the greatest vet schools in America," continued Ms. Moore, "Harvard, Cornell, Purdue and others are studying the benefits that we get when we allow well behaved animals into our heart. The Human-Animal Bond is the dynamic relationship between people and animals in that each influences the psychological and physiological state of the other. Human-animal interaction has profound physiological consequences. People, in the contact with animals experience a decrease in blood pressure, reduced anxiety, and a general feeling of well being. By observing the behavior of animals, children learn to be more nurturing and perhaps better parents to their own children. The therapeutic value of animals for socially isolated individuals in nursing homes, hospitals, hospices, and prisons has been documented. People in the presence of animals are often perceived to be more happy and healthy.”

”The important caveat is that the dog, cat or horse has to well-bred and well-behaved for dog owners to get the benefits. If the dog is hyper, fearful or aggressive, people don’t get the benefits.”

Ami Moore is widely recognized as one of America’s leading dog training masters. She has dovetailed her love of learning, her coaching skills and her love of dogs into the creation of a vibrant company that has enabled her to create harmony between homeowners and dogs in homes all over America. With over 20 years of experience in the field she invests a tremendous amount of time giving back to the community. As a dog trainer, personal coach and therapist, she assists non-profit organizations in creating and implementing therapy/service dog programs in schools, churches, community centers, prisons and other businesses.

"In my book, 'The Alphatude Attitude'", continued Ms. Moore, "I talk about how the human component, particularly the feelings of fear, anger and frustration, influence a dog's behavior. The human learning to control their emotions is an important part of this process. I always tell my clients that their dogs need leadership more than love. ‘Alphatude’ is the leadership attitude expressed in a way that the dog understands. Dogs don’t really understand abstractions like words or emotions. Dogs understand concrete communication: tone, body language and facial expression.”

Ami Moore has been featured in numerous industry publications, magazines and newspapers across the country. She writes as the Chicago Dog Training Expert for Examiner.com. She is available for interview and speaking engagements. She can be reached by email at chicagodogcoach@gmail.com. More information is available at the company’s website. Linda Bryan Sabin, author of The Sound Snatcher and CEO of Peeking Kitty Books, will offer a book giveaway to winning school classes in honor of National Children's Book Week. Winning classes will be awarded a copy of The Sound Snatcher for each member of the class. The contest, designed to promote a love of reading and fun with words, is open to preschool children ages 3 to 5 and elementary schools K through 3.

The Sound Snatcher was written to help parents and teachers initiate real conversation with children and to build stronger bonds. The book features 'Let's Talk About The Book' pages. These pages provide simple questions for parents to ask their child to encourage discovery, learning and better one-to-one connections. It also contains 'The Words I Heard' pages. These pages offer a list of vocabulary words and definitions. Sabin uses fun, imaginative, multi-syllable words carefully chosen to expand a child's love of words and reading.

Profile:

Linda Bryan Sabin is a born teacher and writer. She currently lives in the Bay Area California with her husband, their big dog and very small cat. Linda began her career as an elementary school teacher and now works as a leadership consultant for school reform

Linda’s goal with Peeking Kitty Books is to promote a love of language and spark imagination and discovery. Linda does not dumb down books for children. She gives readers a rich tapestry of expression through the use of rhythm, multi-syllable and sometimes nonsensical words.

The Peeking Kitty is not a primary character in any of Linda’s books but he is a major feature in all of them. Readers can hunt for the kitty on every page. He exemplifies the spirit of why Linda writes; the magic, discovery and confidence gained by discovering the power of words. Linda’s stories are written to stimulate imagination, curiosity and challenge readers to look at the ordinary with a new perception.

Linda believes that real learning happens when children experience a book read out loud, and have the opportunity to talk about what they just read. Linda’s goal is to move beyond literacy and develop articulate expressive communicators. In a generation of texting and tweeting, she believes it is important to promote the use of real words and creative expression.

Author Renee Hand To Allow Children To Create A Character For Her Next Book In The Joe-Joe Nut Series

Renee Hand, author of the Crypto-Capers and Joe-Joe Nut series, will allow children to create a character for the book. Children can submit their characters and encourage family, friends and the public to vote for their favorites. The winning entry will be featured in the next installment of the book, and the book will be dedicated to the winner

In honor of book 1 of award-winning author Renee Hand’s new lower elementary children’s book series, The Adventures of Joe-Joe Nut and Biscuit Bill, The Great Pie Catastrophe, author Renee Hand is hosting a contest for children to become characters in one of her cases. The opportunity is for children to be able to create their own animal suspect.

The Joe-Joe Nut series is based on animal detectives who solve cases. The books are educational and fun using topics that children will learn from, such as animal tracks (for book 1) and rocks and minerals (for book 2, coming in the fall of 2010). Every book is unique, entertaining and yet full of interesting information that children will love to learn about.

For the contest, children will submit a character they created. The author will then post submissions on her website. Family, friends and the public will be able to read and vote for their favorites. The submission that receives the most votes will become a character in the next book.

"I decided to hold this contest," stated Ms. Hand, "in honor of my new lower elementary series titled, The Adventures of Joe-Joe Nut and Biscuit Bill, Case #1 The Great Pie Catastrophe. I am an author who writes for my readers. I want them to be involved in my books and make a connection with the characters. It is important to me. My goal is to not only entertain children, but to educate them as well, and all of my books accomplish this goal. This contest will help children understand the process an author goes through in creating a character and will be able to work with me on the development of that character in the story. As a thank you to the winner, not only will their character be a part of the story but it will be dedicated to them as well. The winner will also receive a signed copy from me. I am excited about this contest and wish luck to all. I look forward to reading the entries."

The contest begins on May 9 in honor of National Children's Book Week and will end on June 10th to allow time for everyone to develop and promote their characters.

Author Carolyn Vines Believes Single Black Women Must Learn To Travel Beyond The Identity Society Imposes Upon Them

A recent Washington Post article brought to light the fact that public awareness regarding the one-dimensional portrayal of black women is growing. In her soon to be released book, Black and (A)broad, author Carolyn Vines encourages single black women to reject those blindly accepted societal limitations

Carolyn Vines, author of Black and (A)broad, encourages black women searching for meaningful relationships to reject the limitations and identities imposed upon them by society. She offers inspiration to all black women regardless of age.

"Limitations on black female sexuality," stated Ms. Vines, "arguably the most intimate marker of identity, are subliminal and blatant. The media and entertainment industry are examples of the former. They have told us that we're either too matronly or too loud and sassy to be in a legitimate relationship. The black community at large has threatened aggression (stares, comments, violence) or ostracism if our sexuality is disloyal to black men and we choose to date outside the race."

"To protect their daughters," she continued, "our mothers have blatantly warned us never to depend on a man for anything. Too many of our fathers have not been present to teach us how to be intimate with a man, regardless of race. We black women must challenge these limitations on our identity and potential."

Helena Andrews, another author who speaks to the same subject, was recently profiled in the Washington Post. Movie rights to Andrews' book were picked up before the book was finished. The soon to be produced movie demonstrates that public awareness regarding the one-dimensional portrayal of black women is growing. But Ms.Vines believes the problems run even deeper. She believes that much of the problem is the result of black women buying into racism and sexism.

"Americans," stated Ms. Vines, "regardless of race, gender and ethnicity, have bought into racism and sexism. Sadly, this legacy of internalized racism and sexism continues to be embedded in our collective identity despite electing our first black president, Barack Obama. How bleak will the results future be for black female identity, which has historically born the burden of internalized racism and sexism?"

Black And Abroad describes how after moving from New Orleans Carolyn finds herself in the land of windmills, wooden shoes and endless gray skies. As she moves away from the remnants of her tragic childhood and America’s obsession with race, she is plunged into the depths of homesickness and depression. She travels through motherhood and a career change, and her determination is put to the test. On the way to self-discovery, she ends up finding love, soul sisters and is inspired to travel beyond the limits imposed upon her by race. In this mid-life memoir, Carolyn writes candidly about how being mistaken for a prostitute in Austria, losing her passport in Cuba and dealing with Dutch people on their bikes (among other quirky adventures) have changed her ideas about being a black woman in the world. Black and (A)broad is to be released in August 2010.

Ms. Vines is available for interview and can be reached using the information below or by email atcarolynvines@yahoo.com. More information on her forthcoming book is available at her website at www.blackandabroad.com.

Profile:

Carolyn Vines hails from Indianapolis, USA. Her passion for language has led her to teach Spanish, English and literature at universities in America and The Netherlands. It has also led her into a career as an author, editor and translator. Her work has been published in local Dutch English language papers and The Telegraph. She speaks Spanish and Dutch and last year translated a novel by a critically-acclaimed Curaçaoan author. As the result of her life experiences, she believes it is possible to travel beyond identity and offers inspiration to travel beyond limitations.

Ms. Vines’s website was the 2009 Black Weblog Award Winner for Best International Blog. She is currently writing her first book about her twenty years’ experience living and traveling abroad. Look for Black And (A)broad early in August of 2010.
