Elaine Pereira, Author Of 'I Will Never Forget', Offers A Unique Perspective On Dealing With Dementia

An article in USA Today stated that speaking more than one language might delay dementia. Elaine Pereira, speaker, Certified Dementia Practitioner and Caregiver and author of the award-winning dementia memoir, ‘I Will Never Forget’, agrees

A study performed in India, published in ‘Neurology’ and detailed in USA Today concluded that speaking more than one language can stimulate the brain all the time. Researchers found that bilingual people developed dementia five years later than other people. Elaine Pereira, author of ‘I Will Never Forget’, a compelling and unique memoir on dementia, believes that activity, both physical and mental, is a primary key to delaying the onset of Dementia.

“Research on many fronts,” Pereira stated, “supports the foundation that, for most people, following a healthy life style and staying active physically and mentally can stall Dementia’s onset.  Much more refined research is needed of course, but as studies continue to explore the Alzheimer’s type of Dementia, verses stroke or head injury as Dementia’s cause, it is not that surprising that the catchy phrase ‘use it or lose it’ applies to neurological activity as well.”

Elaine Pereira has written the one book on Dementia that no none else could write. She is a daughter who has lived the Dementia drama, an occupational therapist who understands the neurology and an unwavering caregiver. Pereira’s exclusive perspective has enabled her to produce a one-of-a-kind book about Dementia that encompasses several uniquely special approaches.

In addition, while most authors unveil theirs stories chronologically, Pereira’s memoir unfolds in dynamic and creative time shifts, revealing her mother’s decline in a “then and now” format, transitioning beautifully between past and present.

While Dementia is a serious disease not to be trivialized, Pereira believes there are humorous one-liners and anecdotes in all of life’s dramas. She blends her mother’s Dementia induced tragic mishaps, episodes of illogical thinking and agitated behaviors with tasteful hilarity as well as her ridiculous but funny remarks. The end result is a book about Dementia that is unlike any other book on Dementia ever written.
