Big Ears Jack And Friends By Bestselling Author Earl Vincent de Berge Compared To Aesop's Timeless, Best-Loved Animal Tales By Reviewers

'Big Ears Jack and Friends' is a collection of tall tales featuring extraordinary animals and plants from the Sonoran Desert of Baja California that can bring young people's love for nature to life, generate interest in wildlife, and foster respect for environmental issues.

'Big Ears Jack and Friends', Earl de Berge's bestselling book for young readers, achieved finalist status in the Children's Book International Book Awards, in both the Fable and Nature categories recently. In June, a reviewer from Reader's Views drew parallels with Aesop's Fables and a number of other classic animal stories for young readers.

"Big Ears Jack and Friends by Earl Vincent de Berge is a reading experience similar to Aesop's Fables, in that each chapter is a story featuring an animal, plant, or insect as the main character, with a life lesson for the reader at the end of each adventure/chapter." Rachel Denning wrote.

Denning went on to say, "The stories are similar to what parents or older readers will likely have seen on TV when they were younger, and with the setting being in the desert, if you think of The Lion King, The Wild Thornberrys, or Wild Kratts, you'll get a good idea of what to expect. I like that there is a range of various types of characters, some I knew and others I learned about, and how they have their individual stories, but then are found joining in on other characters' stories as well. As an 'older' reader myself and having read a few of the stories to my preteen kids, I can say they have all been enjoyed and appreciated, regardless of the age gap between us. The messages within the stories are timeless, needing to be remembered and reiterated to members of every generation."

'Big Ears Jack and Friends,' is a captivating story that weaves together a delightful tapestry of tales inspired by the flora and fauna of Baja California's Sonoran Desert. This enchanting collection introduces readers to a vibrant cast, including clever coyotes, playful foxes, whimsical boojum trees, and elusive bobcats. Each story not only entertains but also educates, making it a rare gem that sparks curiosity and wonder about the natural world.

These personalized plants and animals appeal especially to youngsters, capturing their imagination and making the stories engaging and relatable. The narratives’ charm keeps young readers hooked, inviting them to explore the adventures of these lively characters. Each fable is built with an educational backdrop that teaches children about this fascinating ecosystem. Through storytelling, the book subtly introduces concepts related to nature, biodiversity, and environmental awareness. Readers learn about the characteristics and behaviors of these animals, fostering a deeper appreciation for wildlife and their habitats.

Among Jack’s friends readers will meet Nosey and Wag, mischievous coyote brothers; Blue Dasher, a racing dragonfly; the Kangaroo Rat Chorus; tree-lizard Boris; Giro the dust devil; Hawk Conchita and the red ants; Lady Treble Clef, a watchful cactus; Paulina, the puma poet; Diana the musical tarantula; Lady Chrona, a sea lion who dreams of flying; a scheming sea gull named Swindler; the beautiful bobcat Miss Mucha Purrs; Mr. Shellie the chatterbox tortoise; and Young Red Fox and his sweet love, the beautiful rabbit Adorna -- along with many others.

Earl's own adventures in Baja California ignited a profound passion for the desert’s extraordinary wildlife, driving him to share these magical stories with young readers. His own deep appreciation for the Sonoran Desert’s unique plants and animals inspired him to create a chapter book that invites youngsters to explore, learn, and dream, making every tale a gateway to adventure. Older readers enjoy the fun and charm of the stories and find joy in reading them aloud to younger kids.

‘Big Ears Jack and Friends' is available in print and ebook form on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/stores/Earl-Vincent-de-Berge/author/B09R6M1G4Y.

In a review of 'Big Ears Jack,' an AWA reviewer said, "One of the book’s greatest strengths is its world-building. De Berge weaves the flora and fauna of Baja California into the narrative, making the setting feel like a character itself. Talking cacti, dust devils playing tag, and wise desert tortoises enrich the stories, placing readers in an enchanting ecosystem where the line between reality and fantasy blurs.

"The themes of community, creativity, and environmental respect run throughout the collection. Young readers will enjoy the magical adventures and witty dialogue, while adults will appreciate the underlying messages about cooperation, individuality, and harmony with nature."

Reviewer Essien Asian said, "The author presents educational information in detail while using the dialogue between the characters to stimulate young readers' imaginations. The mix of strategically placed (illustrations), an engaging narrative style, and thought-provoking subplots regarding these animals ensures that young readers will learn vital lessons in diplomacy and survival from 'Big Ears Jack and Friends' while enjoying a captivating adventure.”

In his review on Amazon Mark Winheld stated, "If you're up for more fantasy fun, you'll be tempted by chapter titles like 'Sheriff Diamondback and the Egg-Thieving Coyotes,' or 'Dianna the Musical Tarantula,' or 'Swindler (a thieving seagull) and Big Umpo the Sea Lion,' or 'Lady Treble Clef and Dust Devils Rescue a Javelina Family,' and many more."

Positive Climate Change Initiatives And Reforestation Of The Rainforests Are Primary Functions Of Save The Rainforest, Now Accepting Donations Of Any Size Through GoFundMe

All of us can now make a personal and powerful contribution to the effort to save the planet for ourselves, our children and future generations.

Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time. While many components factor into climate change, one of the primary drivers of harmful climate change is the ongoing destruction of our rainforests. The devastation of the rainforest can only result in catastrophic consequences for the planet. It is not a question of "Should we" save the rainforests or "Can we" save the rainforests. Instead, we must save the rainforests to ensure our own survival.

That is the core mandate of Save The Rainforest. We can all play a part in the noble efforts of Save The Rainforest by simply making a small donation to the organization at their GoFundMe page. It is a gift that can combat climate change and help save the planet today and for future generations.

Save The Rainforest, founded in 1988, partners with indigenous communities in the Amazon Basin to protect and restore the Amazon Rainforest. An important aspect of this is reforesting degraded areas which results in habitat restoration and carbon capture.

They support Latin American nonprofit environmental organizations to establish and maintain sustainable ecotourism programs that provide them with an income stream.

Save The Rainforest also educates, inspires and enables youth to protect the planet through purposeful travel and post-trip engagement.

Save The Rainforest, Inc. began as a biology class project in 1988 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Bruce Calhoun was teaching his biology class about rainforests from his firsthand experiences. The students were surprised to learn about the destruction of the rainforest that Mr. Calhoun shared with them because it was not to be found in their textbooks. They came to realize that students, teachers, the general public, and even textbook publishers were not informed about what was actually happening to rainforests. They decided to do something about it.

For their class project, the students created an informational packet about tropical rainforests and mailed it to every high school science teacher in the United States. In the packet they asked those teachers if they wanted to join a new club called "Save The Rainforest" and receive additional information.

To their amazement, they received over 10,000 positive replies and a movement was born.

Save The Rainforest became one of the first groups to:
• Educate about the importance of rainforests.
• Offer “Adopt-An-Acre” programs.
• Help create the International Children’s Rainforest Network.
• Take teachers and students on trips to see the rainforest first-hand.

The legacy of founder Bruce Calhoun, Butch Beedle, and the early teacher and student Founders is real. Over 10,000 students have participated in life-changing trips and over $500,000 has been donated to protect and rehabilitate rainforest land.

Their vision for the future is broad in scope. With partnerships and a dedicated and professional staff, they support indigenous youth in their quest to become the next generation of forest protectors. They have worked with the Yakum Foundation for years and are supporting their efforts to protect their rainforest in Ecuador and build cultural, medicinal and food sovereignty.

Once the pandemic subsides, they intend to send thousands of students from all over the world on Save The Rainforest trips (the majority are which are from disadvantaged backgrounds) and protect 20,000+ more acres of vital, climate stabilizing rainforest over the next five years.

Donations of any size are welcome at the organization's GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/f/save-the-amazon-rainforest-combat-climate-change?utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer. More information is available at the Save The Rainforest website at https://www.savetherainforestnow.org.

The importance of saving the rainforests cannot be overstated, and we cannot wait any longer.

About Save The Rainforest:

Save The Rainforest is a pioneering nonprofit founded by Bruce Calhoun and other educators and students in 1988. Since inception, more than 10,000 students have participated in their high-quality and sustainable trips. They have donated more than $500,000 to rainforest conservation efforts.

Education For Girls And Women Via Smartphones And Selfie Films Is The Mission Of Award Winning Author, Positive Psychologist And Selfie Filmmaker Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein

Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein is an award winning Selfie Filmmaker, Zoom Drama Creator, Positive Psychologist and podcaster who helps us overcome anxiety and alienation through multiple media channels.

Selfie films (films made with a smartphone) are now officially accepted as valid works of art. Film makers and the public at large are paying attention to the potential that selfie films offer. A visionary, Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein was one of the first to embrace selfie films and has created, written and produced a group of films that have been selected or won awards over 100 times - and for good reason. Dr Holstein was perhaps the first to allow young actresses to film themselves in coming-of-age films in a format she calls "selfie films as drama." She brings drama, humor and solid psychology concepts to every film and book she creates. Dr. Holstein believes we have only scratched the surface of what is possible.

"Nancy Pelosi, chosen as one of the world's most outstanding women over 50 mentioned in a recent interview that if she could change one thing in the world it would be to educate girls and women around the world," Dr. Holstein stated. "As a positive psychologist and the developer of THE ENCHANTED SELF, A Positive Therapy, Your Path to Happiness, I have focused constantly on the fact that if you realize and understand the power of YOUR potential, Your Talents and Your Strengths, you can powerfully and successfully move forward in life. You can map out for yourself a life of meaning and happiness.  What most people lack is a clear realization of their potential, strengths and talents, often burying themselves in the criticisms and often poor advice they receive from others. The truth to our talents, and potential is for us to discover. How? Self knowledge, self reflection, courage to not give up on the hidden potential we know we have.  My books, 'THE ENCHANTED SELF, a Positive Therapy' and 'Seven Gateways to Happiness' make much of this clear.

"My goal is to educate girls and women about the fact that they can overcome anything, including even a pandemic. However, we all know how hard it is to operate in a vacuum. We need support and encouragement. Amazingly, that is easy to obtain in today's world in the most surprising of ways.  Modern life and technology have offered us easy doorways to explore ourselves and the world. For example, the internet has allowed us to find mentors around the world, to educate ourselves in schools without walls, to make friends in nations we may never get to visit, etc.

"The smartphone has opened the world to all of us! The smart phone allows all of us to become filmmakers, visionaries, comedians, historians, keepers of the family legends, creators of fictional drama, documentaries, etc.  What does that mean? It means that each of us, becoming a Selfie Filmmaker, can add information and relevance of one kind or another to the world at large, if one uses a stage such as TikTok or You Tube or just to ourselves as a diary in pictures and thoughts of our lives.

"For me, as a positive psychologist, the smartphone revolution has given me a way to merge psychology with filmmaking in a way that helps kids, parents, grandparents, teachers, therapists, understand the trials and tribulations of coming of age, a process we all must go through. My films are drama, humor and psychological development rolled into one. The Selfie project has taken off around the world. In its 6th year, I'm proud to share that my selfie films have been selected and/or won awards over 100 times at film festivals and contests.  What is most exciting is that the world at large moves closer to my visions of filmmaking with smartphones. There are now film festivals that only accept films made with a smartphone crew.  On TikTok we see people from around the world making fun films and professionals sharing information.

"When you have done visionary work, which I have, you must realize that if the ideas are good, the world will catch up to you. My films such as 'Falling in Love, a Coming of Age, Selfie Film' are still the only smartphone films out there in which rather than the standard crew, the actors use smartphones with little use of a crew.  And now I'm about to make a film: 'Do Dreams come True?' where the crew uses smartphones and the major actress also does many of her scenes without a crew, using her smartphone.

“Yes, my purpose in life is to encourage and help others find their potential.  To do this I have encouraged my mind to think out of the box, leading to the development of filmmaking that utilizes smart phones in new amazing ways. Will I be center stage? Yes, to myself and that is the most important place to feel proud and useful. To the world, the smart phones  will allow millions to tell their stories, and reach for the stars. After all, each of us is An Enchanted Self. Tap  into your potential, fulfill your destiny!"

As a school psychologist and in her private practice, Dr. Holstein has worked with many children and parents, helping them to develop life skills in decision making, recognition of their own talents, feel more courageous, and helping both kids and parents develop more successful inter-generational skills. Her latest book, ‘Conflict and a Bit of Magic’ helps kids build self esteem though reading the journal of a girl, identifying with the girl, and understanding they have more courage and resiliency than they thought they had. The book is based on the experiences of the already famous “girl” from 'The Truth, Diary of a Gutsy Tween' and 'Secrets, Diary of a Gutsy Teen'

Dr. Holstein's cutting-edge presentations, most recently based on the Covid-19 pandemic issues, can be found on both YouTube, Vimeo and on the Roku channel and Amazon Fire TV, titled as 'The Enchanted Self Presents'.

Dr. Holstein recently created The Selfie Showcase, a new project emerging from The Selfie Project, that allows young people to voice their opinions on subjects that matter to young people. She is now accepting submissions from the public for the "Selfie Showcase" and is actively seeking change-makers and mental health professionals to appear on her monthly video podcasts.

The Selfie Showcase allows kids, teens, and young adults ages 13 to 18 to candidly express their concerns, worries, observations and possible solutions by creating selfie videos or films around important subjects, using a smartphone. Dr. Holstein's mission is to help rectify, in several ways, some of the issues young people face by giving them a chance to engage with others in meaningful ways about the anxiety and stress they must grapple with constantly.

Selected participants may appear on the Selfie Project Channel, available on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3uaOTcYF70z5CpBh11VoUQ. They will also appear in the Selfie Showcase on SelfieFilmmakers.com. They will receive a certificate of merit and may be invited to be on Holstein's monthly podcast or perhaps be a part of her next film. Full details, rules for submission and helpful hints can be accessed at the Selfie Filmmakers site at http://www.selfiefilmmakers.com/instructions.

Holstein's unique Selfie Films have taken many awards and have been shown in many film festivals and competitions. A full list, now over 100, can be found at Enchantedself.com.

Holstein's podcast series is actively seeking change-makers and visionaries to appear on her podcasts. Dr. Holstein hopes to feature members of traditional media, mental health professionals and educators who can make a real difference in the lives of young people. Many of the podcasts feature young people - to give them a voice regarding their concerns and their solutions. Guests, if accepted, can arrange to appear by contacting Dr. Holstein directly.

Dr. Holstein is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at barbara.holstein@gmail.com. More information about the Selfie Showcase is available at http://www.selfiefilmmakers.com. Selfie videos and selfie films can be uploaded at http://www.selfiefilmmakers.com. As Obama Raises The Education Bar, Dr. Joyce Teal's Trilogy Offers 100 Practical Solutions For Adolescents

Dr. Joyce Teal’s 'Don’t Sweat It Kid' series demonstrates that getting off to a good start early is the key to success in later life

President Obama has suggested that states begin to broaden their standards of proficiency for schools beyond math and reading skills. Obama hopes that schools will become creative in providing more life skills to youth. The goal is to prepare students not only to graduate from high school, but to set children on the path to success in both life and career. Dr. Joyce Teal has developed a program that can help accomplish that goal.

Her trilogy, ‘Don’t Sweat It Kid’, has been designed to accomplish this goal. “This trilogy,” stated Dr. Teal, “will help adolescents get a grip on the reality that they do not have to sweat the small stuff, and with the realization that most of it is small stuff. The series contains 100 topics relevant to the lives of adolescents and are loaded with information that will provoke thought and affect positive changes in adolescents' behavior and way of thinking regarding ordinary occurrences and experiences in their lives.”

Don’t Sweat It, Kid consists of three volumes that are loaded with information and scenarios that are designed to provoke thought and affect positive changes in the behavior and way of thinking about ordinary occurrences and experiences in the lives of young people, ages eleven through eighteen.

Don’t Sweat It, Kid is the first of three volumes. It consists of the first 33 of 100 topics that the three volumes contain. Volume 2, Hang in There, Kid, consists of topics 34 through 65. Volume 3, entitled Just Do It, Kid consists of topics 66 through 100. These 100 topics have been chosen because of their pertinence to the life of young people. Youth are encouraged to read the trilogy with an open mind and to share it with a friend. It can potentially help them to become a better person, a more giving family member and a wonderful role model for the younger kids who are part of their world.

“The 'Dont Sweat It, Kid' Series," stated Dr. Teal, “will assist adolescents with problem-solving solutions to problems they frequently encounter. Our hope is to make this series available to children through schools systems and libraries throughout the United States and other English speaking countries. The series represents one answer to the problems faced by our youth and can serve to get our youth started down the path to success both now and in the future.”

Dr. Teal is available for interview and can be reached using the contact information below.

Joyce Willard Teal is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University. She is an award-winning retired teacher. She has taught school in Dallas for six years, but her career path has taken her through New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Virginia where she taught community college and reading/language arts to boys and girls in the public schools.

Mrs. Teal began writing professionally in 1993 and has had several award-winning poems published. Her first book, It’s O.K. To Be Different, was written for boy and girls between the ages of nine and fifteen, but has universal appeal and is being read by children as well as adults. It is now in its fourth printing.

Don’t Sweat It Kid is Volume 1 of a trilogy. The three volumes contain 100 topics relevant to the lives of adolescents. Volume 1 contains topics 1-33; Volume 2 contains topics 34-65; Volume 3 contains topics 66-100. The trilogy was written for young people between the ages of eleven and eighteen, (middle grade through high school). It focuses on topics relevant to their lives and discusses positive ways to help them cope with situations they face day to day.

Science With Me Announces New Animation Designed To Educate Children About Their Senses

New animation by Science With Me offers an engaging look at how the human senses function

On March 23, 2009, Science With Me, the premier free educational science website for elementary age children announced the release of a new animation designed to teach children about the five senses. The new animation engages children with vivid color, fast paced animations and sing-a-long lyrics.

For many children, the task of learning science from a textbook can be dull, tiresome and confusing. Science With Me attempts to correct this age-old problem. By turning science into entertainment, Drs Elva O'Sullivan and Scott Rickard, co-creators of the Science With Me program, believe that it is possible that children need not develop negative feelings towards the subject, but may rather see science as it truly is; a wondrous and fascinating journey into the physical world in which we live.

"I thought about how I would teach science to children differently," said Dr. O'Sullivan. "There wasn't much out there for teachers that was entertaining and at the same time that would show children how science relates to the real world."

Like all animations on the site, the fast paced new senses animation is designed to be upbeat, amusing and wildly entertaining.

"As parents, we tend not to give our children enough credit for their intellectual capabilities," said Dr. O'Sullivan. "We tend to think we need to wait until our kids are older to introduce them to more complex ideas in math and science. Scott and I think this is a mistake."

Dr. O’Sullivan's animations teach children how science relates to everyday life, without "dumbing it down" to their age level. The key is to get children excited about science and to encourage parental involvement in the process. The animations accomplish this goal perfectly through very heavy emphasis on the entertainment value and interaction. There is also a good deal of instruction specifically geared towards parents, who may have forgotten the most basic of science lessons learned so long ago. In this respect, the Science With Me site can be quite helpful in regards to 'teaching the teacher'.

This 'entertainment first' concept works very well, as currently the Science With Me web site boasts about 43,500 members. The site has become extremely popular with parents and children alike, as the site offers the opportunity for both to interact and to share in the learning process. Membership is free.

The site currently offers science animations, educational games, worksheets, science projects, free e-books, entertaining coloring books, informative articles and blogs. More offerings are planned in the very near future.

Science With Me began as an after school program in Princeton, NJ, which became a free online animation series to reach a larger audience. A resident of Princeton for 10 years, Dr. O'Sullivan first came to the states after graduating with a bachelor's of science degree from the University College of Dublin, Ireland. She received her Ph.D. in chemistry from Clarkson University in New York, and then settled in Princeton, where she met her husband, Dr. Rickard, who has a Ph.D. in applied and computational mathematics from Princeton University.

"The beauty is that the number of animations we can produce is infinite, as there are so many topics to present," said Dr. O'Sullivan.

The new animation, along with all the resources mentioned above, can be viewed at http://www.sciencewithme.com.
