Society in Turmoil: Dr. Richard Ruhling Says We Must Learn To Navigate Faith, Chaos, And Hope Amidst Rising Tensions And Immorality

Dr Ruhling sees climate change, wars, famine, pandemics and violent crimes bringing Biblical End-Times.

With 65-75% of US identifying as Christians, an increasing number wonder what the world is coming to. A teen is sentenced to life in prison for vehicular homicide, and society is torn by factions politically, racially, financially and by religion. Some say Allah will punish the Great Satan (US) and others say Christ will snatch them to heaven. The pre-occupation of illicit lifestyles has millions living torn lives portrayed by Hollywood in an unreal world becoming real, as headlines become increasingly bizarre and readers wonder what the future holds.

Dr. Richard Ruhling is a retired physician in his 80’s and he has seen a lot of life. He believs people are becoming crazy with negative emotions of fear, hate, anxiety, some of it due to drugs, and some due to fictional media they feed on. “The devil made me do it” may be increasingly true for crimes unimaginable. Is there any hope for society?

“Yes and no,” says Ruhling, “depending on choices. These include turning from the negatives of fictional movies and lifestyles of substance abuse (abnormal use of unnatural foods, beverages or drugs). Vegans, for example, may have fewer problems with all of the above than a teenager trying every new thing on a dare.

"Poking a pin in an electrical socket may be normal at 2 or 3, but at 20 or 30, it’s not cool and time to get off the merry-go-round that seeks social approve for wild ideas. Like Step 1 for the Alcoholics Anonymous or Over-eaters Anonymous, people need to admit their lives are unmanageable and come to believe that a Higher Power is needed to restore sanity. Turning our lives over to God as we understand Him may seem radical, but it has worked for countless people and all ages," said Ruhling.

He notes that a junk food diet ruins the body, but healthy food can reverse the process. So it is with our mental diet. The Spanish word for library is biblioteca—bible tech. The Bible is like a library with excellent information on many subjects. History thought to be fiction, like the Exodus of a million people from Egypt to the Promised Land is supported by the finding of chariot wheels under the Red Sea, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIQ-QAKTqZc&t=10s

Ruhling says he was taught that Moses wrote the first comprehensive health code. Animals to be eaten were carefully inspected and neither the fat nor blood was eaten. That might drop heart disease and cancer from the top of our causes of death today, says Ruhling, adding that prescription drugs are also a major factor for many diseases and death.

Moses also wrote laws that have preserved the Jewish nation in spite of many adversities for centuries. The book of Psalms is an example of poetry that feeds or strengthens emotions and Proverbs has been considered a book excellent for business principles. Daniel’s book on prophecy was cited by Christ when asked about end-times.

Critics who don’t wish to believe the Bible’s claim on their lives say it’s prophecies were written hundreds of years later, but anyone familiar with Daniel can see accuracy that spans 2500 years to our time in Daniel 8:17. “The vision at the time of the end” is a conflict between the political cartoons of a Muslim ram and a goat that flies from the west to breat its horns (militancy) of Medes and Persians that are now Iraq and Iran.

The imagery of a lion, bear, leopard and dragon represent “four kings that shall arise” in end-times. "The lion fits the UK, the bear represented Russia in political cartoons when I was a child," said Ruhling. "The dreadful 4th beast represented Rome and Protestant reformers saw the emergence of a diverse little horn becoming great and doing what the papacy did."

Readers may wonder how we get to end-times from here. Ruhling sees Iran’s nukes and missiles as trouble for Israel cited as victory for Islam in Zechariah 14, but short-lived as they celebrate “Allah has no Son.” Joel 3 says, “The Lord shall roar from Jerusalem…the heavens and earth shall shake” and they will flee, but that earthquake initiates the end-times that we may expect to see soon. A series of events will bring judgment to our world.

Dr. Ruhling is available for speaking engagements and media interviews and can be contacted (below) or by email, ruhling7@juno.com. For more information, visit http://healthhappinessdestiny.com/blog-2.

About Dr. Richard Ruhling:

After Internal Medicine training and board certification, Ruhling had a Cardiology Fellowship before teaching at Loma Linda’s School of Public Health. Attending a cardiology convention, he heard Pritikin reporting how a low fat, low cholesterol diet reversed heart disease and got 85% of patients off their drugs for diabetes and blood pressure. Ruhling developed a Total Health Seminar to help people with positive lifestyle changes to avoid high-risk Rx drugs. At 82, Ruhling claims excellent health and may be contacted by corporations to cut their medical costs, or by churches, book clubs for speaking.

Long Term Success In Recovery From Alcohol And Drug Abuse - A Change In Perception Is Key Says Harriet Hunter, Award-Winning Author Of 'Miracles of Recovery: Daily Meditations Of Hope, Courage and Faith'

Hunter's award-winning book features 365-powerful daily inspirations based on the A.A. 12 Step Program.

In the New York Times Best Seller, “The Book of Secrets,” Deepak Chopra speaks at the end of Chapter 6, “Freedom Tames the Mind,” about how real growth happens in many dimensions. “What happens to you, can affect how you think, feel, relate to others, behave in a given situation, fit into your surroundings, perceive the future or perceive yourself. All these dimensions must evolve in order for you to evolve.”

Harriet Hunter, award-winning author of “Miracles of Recovery: Daily Meditations of Hope, Courage and Faith” believes that having a change in perspective as a person in recovery, is vital to the long-term success in recovery.

"As with everything in life that we do, regardless of how small, efforts to change our perspective require a focused inner determination, a trust in the process of seeing our life and the people in it differently. To change anything demands a continued practice that speaks to our inner-self of being where we’re supposed to be. Even when what we ‘see’ cannot be relied upon, we come to believe that nothing is as it seems, but with consistency, it will feel the way it is supposed to be.

"Changing our perspective is an act of humility. It exclaims, ‘I never looked at it that way!’ It is a conscious willingness to set aside our own ideas and thoughts of what we think we know, to trust and embrace new ways of assessing and looking at some fact of our life, or person, or place, or thing through the eyes of awareness and transparency.

"To change our perspective is to cultivate a Universal Truth; that is, we think we have all the answers (to some situation, some place or thing,) but we do not. And we never will. Why is that? Because to have the answers is to believe we have need for nothing bigger than ourselves. In our minds, we have become the Almighty, believing erroneously we have answers for others and, of course, we do not. Answers concerning anyone other than ourselves belong to our Higher Power, and are none of our business.

"To change our perspective about ourself is to concede that somewhere, maybe not so deep down in the grey. In between black and white thinking lies enough of the answer we need to accept that nothing is ever as originally thought.

"When we change our perspective, we acknowledge and surrender to the fact that we don’t know what is right and just for us. The mere acknowledgment of this fact speaks to a departure, a shift in what we thought we knew about ourselves, to new visions of the person we want to be.

To a person so determined, this “reflection,” or shift in our perspective, discovers the beginning of an unmistakable change in direction in our present knowing. With this shift, comes the confidence in ourself, that assures a sustained positive energy, sufficient to overcome and not be deterred in the face of adversity. This change confirms our intuitive knowing and a rationalize steeped in emotional maturity and fortitude. Enmeshed within our highest-self, our vision and energized conviction is our ability to overcome anything. And with this strong mindset, we do."

While there are many treatment approaches and programs, what is common to all successful individuals within a substance abuse program is the shared pain and the loneliness, oftentimes with an ongoing support system for the person battling the disease. That support system is what Harriet Hunter offers in “Miracles of Recovery: Daily Meditations of Hope, Courage and Faith.”

Featuring 365-daily inspirations. Miracles of Recovery was written not just for those addicted, but for the parents, the spouses - anyone touched by the disease because addiction is absolutely a family affair. With the foundation of 12-Steps, Miracles of Recovery embraces holistic suggestions as a practical approach for those who must face life on life's terms, clean and sober. Encouraging and thought-provoking, Miracles of Recovery inspires with Universal Truths, “because,” Harriet says, “Once we know better, we do better.” Miracles of Recovery is written to show through personal examples how to achieve long-term sobriety, regardless of what happens in one's life and offers a personal, sometimes raw reflection of the truth about addiction seldom seen elsewhere.

The new book encourages readers to embrace healthy, positive thoughts by taking actions necessary to reinforce a new way of thinking. Tools necessary to maintain sobriety and change one's life through changing one’s perspective are also proposed. It suggests that readers "Do life differently," through exercises, solutions, and methods to improve self-esteem, confidence, and embrace a profound sense of hope needed to succeed. The author spurs the reader to embrace the belief that, regardless of challenges life presents, “NOTHING can change the course of recovery when you keep yourself, your sobriety, and your Higher Power first in your lives.” In short, Miracles of Recovery offers hope where there is none through a simple program of actions for complicated people.

Hunter has received rave reviews for her work from readers and reviewers alike. Vernita Taylor of Readers Favorite stated, “Miracles of Recovery: Daily Meditations of Hope, Courage, and Faith by Harriet Hunter is a great choice if you’re struggling with addiction because it offers a full year of inspiration and affirmations which I enjoyed. I see this book as a mentor or sponsor that is walking by your side and helping to lead you to a better, more improved you while teaching you how to deal with your stressors. If you need help along your journey, pick up a copy of this book; it’s highly recommended.”

Anthony Capozzolli of Dismantled Life Podcast said, “Miracles of Recovery has been a feast for my recovering soul. Every page is filled with love and helpful insights that lead to discovery. I read each page by date and randomly turn to other pages for an additional spiritual hug when I need one. It’s almost as if Harriet wrote her wonderful book for me. Page after page hits so close to home I often tear up from positive awareness and clarity of emotion.”

Miracles of Recovery received the first place President’s Award in nonfiction from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association.

Since her walk into recovery in 1999, Harriet has had one primary purpose: to show others how they can achieve their miracles while staying sober with a vision and determination to never go backwards, one day at a time.

Using her experience strength and hope, Harriet strives to be a conduit of encouragement to others in their disease of alcoholism and drugs of choice, by showing them what continues to work. With practical tools, principles and promises as found in Alcoholics Anonymous and other literature, she mirrors examples of how anyone can be free from the bondage of self, regardless of their situation.

Recovery From Alcoholism And Drug Abuse Can Be Achieved Through Faith, Hope And Courage Says Harriet Hunter, Award-Winning Author Of Miracles Of Recovery

Hunter's award-winning book, “Miracles Of Recovery: Daily Meditations Of Hope, Courage and Faith,” features 365-powerful daily inspirations based on the A.A. 12 Step Program.

Alcoholism is not a recent phenomenon. Alcoholism and other forms of addiction have been with us for thousands of years. Unfortunately, the situation is worsening today. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration found increases in all categories and age groups in their 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health. COVID, and all of its residual hardships, have dramatically accentuated the number being reported, including deaths from alcoholism, drugs and suicide.

Nobody is immune. Those who suffer from alcoholism can be found from the boardroom to the mail room. Celebrities who have battled alcohol addiction include the late Amy Winehouse, Shia LaBeouf, Bradley Cooper, Mel Gibson and Janeane Garofalo to name a few. Some of our coworkers, some of our neighbors and most likely some of our family members continue to suffer, most often in silence from alcoholism and drug abuse.

While there are many treatment approaches and programs, what is common to all successful individuals within a substance abuse program is the pain and the loneliness shared, together with an ongoing support system for the person battling the disease. That support system is what Harriet Hunter provides in Miracles of Recovery: Daily Meditations of Hope, Courage and Faith.

Featuring 365-daily inspirations. Miracles of Recovery was written not just for those addicted, but for the parents, the spouses - anyone touched by the disease because addiction is absolutely a family affair. Using the 12-Steps as its foundation, Miracles of Recovery embraces a holistic solution as a practical approach for those who must face life on life's terms, clean and sober. Encouraging and thought-provoking, Miracles of Recovery inspires with Universal Truths, “because,” Harriet says, “Once we know better, we do better.” Miracles of Recovery is written to show through example how to achieve long-term sobriety, regardless of what happens in one's life and brings a personal, sometimes raw reflection of the truth about addiction seldom seen elsewhere.

The new book encourages readers to embrace healthy, positive thoughts by taking the necessary actions to reinforce this new way of thinking. Miracles of Recovery provides the tools necessary to work the 12 Steps and change one's life by changing one’s perspective. It suggests that readers "Do life differently," through exercises, solutions, and methods to improve self-esteem, confidence, and embrace a profound sense of hope needed to succeed. The author encourages the reader to embrace the belief that, regardless of challenges life presents, “NOTHING can change the course of recovery when you keep yourself, your sobriety, and your Higher Power first in your lives.” In short, Miracles of Recovery offers hope where there is none through a simple program of actions for complicated people.

“Without the gift of desperation, (where we see ourselves overlooking the great crevasse of life or death,) we would never be able to face our own denial enough to admit that alcoholism and drug addiction are diseases of perception and that we would die trying to overcome,” Hunter stated. “In chronic drinkers gravely affected, we understand that alcoholism is progressive which makes it particularly deadly. People die not because of lengthy years of sobriety, and then they slip, but rather because they forget we are never cured, only through abstinence. We are not, ‘Like normal people, nor will we ever be.’ For instance, those of us in long-term recovery understand that once we cross that imaginary line of no return into alcoholic or drug insanity, we can never return to a normal life. We’ve heard it said ‘We cannot change a pickle back into a cucumber.’ We live with and understand the depth of our allergy, the psychological and long-term, often irreversible physiological effects our disease has on us.

“Alcoholism is well documented as being a three-fold disease that, once we pass through the phenomenon of craving, affects us physically, emotionally and spiritually. This is not a situation of weakness, of sloth, or of being pulled up by our bootstraps. ‘If it were that easy to quit there would BE no alcoholism!’ ‘We are drinking to overcome a craving beyond our mental control.’ (Taken from AA, page xxx}”

Zelenski was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors who appeared on The Authors Show radio in 2012. In his interview he discusses his latest supernatural Christian thriller, 'Walker's Vale'

John Zelenski, author of ‘Walker's Vale’ has been chosen as a finalist for '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'. Winners will appear in this year’s edition of the book. Zelenski was chosen as the result of his appearance on The Christian Authors Show radio.

"I am so honored," Zelenski stated, "to be selected as a finalist in the '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading' contest.  As an author, there is nothing more satisfying than seeing your heart and soul poured onto paper for the world to read.  To be mentioned among the great writers of today is truly a humbling privilege and responsibility that I do not take lightly."

In the story line of 'Walker's Vale', James Cooper moves his family to Walker's Vale, Pennsylvania, in search of the ideal life. What he gets is just the opposite. As this small town's eerie history is revealed and repeated, it's clear the devil is in the details and he's waiting for the Cooper's young daughter. A recent review at Midwest Book Review stated, "'Walker's Vale' is a riveting read that will keep the pages turning, very much recommended."

Author Tom O'Grady, Jr. Releases ‘Degree of Difficulty’ In Paperback And EBook Formats

Set in Acapulco in the seventies, a hot spot for the rich and famous, the plot of 'Degree of Difficulty' centers around cliff diving and, in the tradition of Hitchcock movies, sweeps the reader along in a mixture of suspense, murder and romance

Author Tom O'Grady Jr. recently released his second novel, 'Degree Of Difficulty'. The book is now available in both paperback and Kindle formats.

Ian Connors, a young professional with a desire to succeed in the business world, sets off on a vacation to fulfill his childhood dream; to dive the cliffs of Acapulco. A trained diver, Ian knows the risks, but little does he know that the most dangerous part of his trip won’t be the Dive. Led by Manny Arroyo, a smiling twelve year old tour guide with a heart of gold, Ian and his friend Spook take in the beauty of Acapulco Bay and its surroundings, including Robyn Baldwin and her girlfriends. But ever-present behind the beauty lurks the ugly reality of greed, and a cast of devious characters who will do anything necessary to get what they want. In the world of competition diving every dive has an assigned Degree of Difficulty. Standing eighty five feet above the churning waters of the canyon at La Quebrada and the corrupt world he’s stumbled into, Ian must make the most difficult decision of his life; step to the edge and make a leap of faith, or run away.

"I had a lot of fun writing this book," stated Mr. O'Grady, "because the plot twists and turns. You never know what might happen on the next page but you want to find out. Even I wanted to find out. It’s like being on the edge of a cliff with the main character, Ian Connors.”

Set in Acapulco in the seventies, a hot spot for the rich and famous, 'Degree of Difficulty' sweeps the reader along like a Hitchcock movie, from the downtown canyons of Philadelphia to the blue water canyon of La Quebrada, twisting and turning like the treacherous mountain roads of Mexico.

"I find Ian Connors to be an interesting character," stated Mr. O'Grady, "who will probably end up in future books. Readers will want to get to a beach or curl up in a chair because they won’t want to get up till the last word."

Tom O'Grady is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below. More information is available at his website. 'Degree Of Difficulty' is available at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble and at most book retailers. The book is available in Kindle, Nook, Sony EReader, Apple Ipad and other digital formats.

Author Tom O'Grady Releases 'A Gift Is Waiting' In Kindle Format

Could we ever find any positive aspect in the loss of a child? Is it possible? Author Tom O'Grady believes that even the most horrific circumstances can offer us an opportunity to find the joy. His powerful novel, 'A Gift Is Waiting', demonstrates that true optimism is not just an idea but is instead an entirely different way of looking at the world in which we live

Everyone knows someone who has lost a child. From everyday people to billionaires to celebrities such as John Travolta and Kelly Preston, no one is immune from one of the most heart-wrenching events to befall any human being. Tom O'Grady, author of 'A Gift Is Waiting', demonstrates that even in the darkest of tragedies, a gift can be found.

"I wrote this book," stated Mr. O'Grady, "because, like the parents in the story, I watched a dark future turn bright. The loss of a child and the adoption of a child were two opposing worlds at first, then one amazing place. I realized that journey is made every day by others. This book is their story too."

In the book, Patrick and Maria Walsh, a suburban Philadelphia couple with simple, well-planned lives, experience the birth of their third child. But all is not how they planned it. Halfway around the world, a barely-alive child is placed in an orphanage under the care of Sister Christiana, a Catholic nun whose unselfish dedication to children is shaken by her desire for something more. Can Patrick find his way past his instinct to control the world around him and open his heart again? Will Sister Christiana find answers to her questions in the unresponsive child? Surrounded by the selflessness and caring of people who love them, a broken father, a questioning nun and a lost child learn that life offers amazing gifts and moments to treasure. Based on real events, this beautiful story resonates with hope as it takes the reader along on multiple journeys to a place where fear is overcome by the willingness to give. And as these uncharted journeys move forward they reveal to us that there is always a 'gift' waiting somewhere in our lives if we are willing to recognize and embrace it.

"Readers will enjoy this book," continued Mr. O'Grady, "because it's a great story. But it's more than that. It is a story that comes from the heart and touches the need we all have for hope in our lives. The blind and fragile journey of the Walsh family is the journey we all make in life. I think readers, like the Walsh's, will end up in a place of happiness and renewed hope."

O'Grady's latest work, 'Degree of Difficulty', is due for release in paperback and digital formats in September or October of 2011. This work of fiction is a plot twisting adventure that runs from Philadelphia to the Chesapeake Bay to Acapulco Bay.
