'Tales2Inspire' is an ongoing series of books filled with inspiring and motivational stories compiled by Lois W. Stern
Lois W. Stern, creator of the 'Tales2Inspire' series of inspirational books, announced today that a portion of all proceeds from sales of the book series will be donated to the American Heart Association.
'Tales2Inspire' is a growing collection of anthologies of varied themes, with each book containing a compilation of stories filled with uplifting, inspiring messages compiled by author Lois W. Stern. Stern has authored some of these stories herself, but many more of them come from winners of her annual ‘Tales2Inspire’ contest.
Donating to organizations such as the American Heart Association is commendable. Stern however has a very specific reason for choosing The American Heart Association.
"With little warning, the bombshell hit," she recalled. "My husband needed open heart surgery: quadruple bypass surgery, aortic valve replacement and ablation. He soldiered through, only to learn that X-rays showed a blood clot on his lung. He needed another surgery 24 hours later. - the surgery that nearly did him in. He actually flatlined on the gurney as they were preparing to return him to recovery. My sons and I were called together to listen to the worst possible news: it didn’t look like he was going to make it. I was in total shock, shouting at the attending physician, 'This second surgery was supposed to be simple-through-the-ribs surgery, and it killed him.' I heard code blue signals in the distant background. Little did I know that they had called together four of the most eminent surgeons from this large teaching hospital, who miraculously brought him back to life. Six years later, he is alive and well and full of energy. That is why I am contributing twenty percent of my Tales2Inspire book sale proceeds to two charities dear to my heart, The American Heart Association is one of them.”
“We are constantly bombarded with news of the three Ds: disasters, disease and death. A bit of positive energy during these often cold and unsympathetic times can go a long way to lighten and strengthen our spirits,” said Stern. “And because each story in the 'Tales2Inspire' collection is true, these books deliver exactly what they promise: inspiring stories to warm our hearts, lift our spirits and give us hope.”
Lois W. Stern has discovered that inspiring stories can be found everywhere. She continually seeks submissions by talented writers, but also keeps alert to news of unsung heroes whose fascinating stories find their way into one of her books. Each of the inspirational stories, including those submitted by Stern herself, is judged anonymously by a peer group to determine eligibility for publication. There are no fees to submit for consideration, and winning authors receive many no-charge platform-building opportunities.

Laughter Heals - 'Tales2Inspire' Releases New Inspirational Book In Series - 'Tales2Inspire, The Crystal Collection'
'Tales2Inspire' is an ongoing series of books filled with inspiring and motivational stories compiled by Lois W. Stern
Author Lois W. Stern has announced the release of 'Tales2Inspire - The Crystal Collection'. The new inspirational book is a departure from previous works in the series, as it is filled with humorous, true stories.
"After publishing four 'Tales2Inspire' books of heartwarming, inspiring stories, I felt we were all ready for a change of pace," Stern stated. "Why humor? How does humor inspire us? Simply by lifting our spirits and transporting us from the here and now to several moments of pure amusement. In the words of Josh Billings, 'Laughter is the sensation of feeling good all over and showing it principally in one place'. Bravo to the authors of the stories in this Crystal Collection - all winners in the 'Tales2Inspire' annual ‘Authors Helping Authors’ contest.
Unlike the inspiring stories of her earlier ‘Tales2Inspire’ collections, which Stern explained “touched the heart of most every reader”, she soon discovered the challenges of collecting humorous stories. “What tickled one person’s funny bone, left another one flat. What struck one person as hysterical, struck the next as a shaggy dog story.”
“When we consider some of today’s most popular comic personalities, we realize there is no ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to humor. Amy Schumer has received considerable praise for the subversive feminism of her comedy, while cleverly addressing various social issues. Steve Colbert, who last month succeeded David Letterman as the host of The Late Show, brings roars of laughter for his caricatured version of conservative political pundits. Although both these personalities have enormously high ratings, other segments of the population are turned off by their brand of humor. I wanted the Crystal Collection stories to be more gentle in there approach to humor, with slice of life stories and true life episodes to which most everyone could relate.”

Inspirational Book, 'The Caleb Years: When God Doesn't Make Sense' Earns Honorable Mention In Foreword Reviews Indiefab Book Of The Year Awards
'The Caleb Years' is a refreshing and inspirational account of the journey through treacherous waters of uncertainty and deep emotional wounds parents of chronically ill children must endure
'The Caleb Years' by David Ingerson has earned the Honorable Mention in Foreword Reviews Indiefab Book Of The Year Awards for the best indie books of 2014.
Winners were chosen from over 1,500 entries in 63 categories by a select panel of librarians and booksellers. Winners were announced during the American Library Association Annual Conference in San Francisco on June 26. This year’s list of winners includes the Dalai Lama, Lev Grossman, Jeet Heer, Chuck Palahniuk, Zack Whedon, Georges Jeanty, Lee & Low Books, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Kent State University Press, Rizzoli, Abingdon Press, Quirk Books, Cleis Press, and Six Sisters Stuff.
'The Caleb Years' is a refreshing and inspirational account of the author’s journey through the treacherous waters of uncertainty and the deep emotional wounds parents of chronically ill children must endure. It chronicles the medical maladies and life-stirring challenges Ingerson and his family faced after his fourth child, Caleb, was born with a major congenital heart defect (CHD)--as does Bret Baier's book, 'Special Heart: A Journey of Faith, Hope, Courage and Love.'
"I am very pleased," Ingerson stated, "that my book has been recognized by this competitive award. I believe my story will be helpful to many others as they read how we faced and overcame the challenges all parents experience when their children suffer with life-and-death medical struggles."
Ingerson encourages his grieving readers to also read the inspirational book 'Losing Cooper: Finding Hope to Grieve Well, ' by J.J. Jasper. For those that are seeking further inspiration in dealing with the questions of suffering, Ingerson highly recommends one of Max Lucado's latest books, 'You'll Get Through This - Hope and Help for Your Turbulent Times,' as well as Philip Yancey's recent book, 'The Question That Never Goes Away: Why?.' Likewise, Ingerson enjoyed reading 'Tuesdays with Morrie,' by Mitch Albom during his tumultuous Caleb years. For further inspiration he also heartily recommends 'Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption,' by Laura Hillenbrand.
To fight for the life of a child with a long-drawn-out chronic illness is agonizing enough, but to then lose that child, as the Ingerson family did, as the result of the reckless behavior of another—a blood donor giving his potentially HIV-tainted blood despite his known at-risk behavior--is beyond words. Despite his raging anger, Ingerson did not seek vengeance when faced with this very situation. Instead, he took action and vowed to do something to help prevent this type of tragedy from happening to others.
Although we may not be able to determine the final outcome of such tragic situations, we can decide how we are going to live each day – with hope and thankfulness or with anger and bitterness. David Ingerson and his family, as intensely described in this inspirational story chose the way of hope, even when facing the menace of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and the dread of HIV. While it did not take away their pain, it did give them the strength to live each day with meaning.
Phillip Yancey, 'NYT' best-selling author of 'The Jesus I Never Knew' states, “I have read the full account of Caleb’s life in ‘The Caleb Years’, and I’m glad I did. Especially, I appreciated that David didn’t offer saccharine answers. He showed the raw, up-and-down vulnerability that always accompanies such a trial.”
Eugene H. Peterson, best-selling author and translator of ‘The Message’ and Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology at Regent College said, "Caleb was born with several undiagnosed congenital anomalies and endured ten major surgeries. His father writes the story, saturated with both pain and prayer, but remarkably without a trace of bitterness. His marvelous witness written with such skill, crafted in language honest and vivid, will not fail to deepen the faith and joy of all who trust God."
"Faith and forgiveness are two key themes of our story. Our faith was tested when after our son was born with CHD, so many asked, 'Why was Caleb born this way?' Also, in that our son was infected with HIV due to the irresponsible action of a donor who knew of his at-risk behavior but chose to keep quiet about it and donate his blood anyway, we were forced to face the difficult question, 'Can we forgive the donor for his reprehensible act?'"
About David Ingerson:
David P. Ingerson is an exciting communicator who has spoken to audiences around the world. During his twenty years as a U.S. Air Force officer and pilot he traveled extensively and lived abroad with his family. He has trained and led teams on short-term missions to the Philippines and Cambodia. As a corporate pilot he has traveled to nearly every country on five continents and takes with him great respect and appreciation for the myriad of cultures he encounters.
Having suffered his own share of trials and setbacks as an entrepreneur, he encourages his listeners to rise above life's difficulties and griefs. Given his track record of overcoming challenges, Ingerson has credibility when he exhorts others that the path to success is found and walked with intentionality, faith and hard work. He is genuine and passionate as he encourages his listeners to honestly admit their challenges and disappointments. Through his personal inspirational story of triumph through tragedy, he spurs others to rise above life's frustrations and overcome in spite of intimidating obstacles—even as dreadful as facing CHD, HIV and grieving the death of a child.
David and his wife, Kathleen, are the parents of five children and make their home in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The Boston Marathon Bombing And The Desire For Vengeance - Author David Ingerson Shows Us There Is An Alternative
Ingerson's inspirational book, 'The Caleb Years', illustrates how the devastating loss of a child can inspire hope
The desire for vengeance is a natural reaction to a senseless act of terrorism that results in the death of someone we love. The death sentence handed down to Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, in many ways, seems more appropriate than forcing him to spend the rest of his life locked in a tiny cell. Why? It brings closure. It is final. It closes a chapter. It gives the families of victims the opportunity to move on.
Moving ahead with one's life after a senseless tragedy is no easy task. Everybody handles it in their own unique way. When a loved one dies a senseless death, a void is created. For some, that gaping hole is filled with heartbreak and bitterness. The desire for vengeance is justifiable.
David Ingerson's moving and compelling book about the life and untimely death of his son Caleb shows us how heartbreak and bitterness can be transformed into hope and thankfulness.
To lose someone to a single act of terrorism is horrific—there is no warning. And to lose a child to chronic illness, as Ingerson's family did is agonizing—particularly when dreaded and anticipated over a span of time. But to lose a child as the result of reckless irresponsibility on the part of a blood donor is beyond words. When it happened to Ingerson, despite his raging anger, he did not seek vengeance. Instead, he took action and vowed to do something to help others prevent these types of tragedies.
'The Caleb Years' is a refreshing and inspirational account of the author’s journey through the treacherous waters of uncertainty and the deep emotional wounds parents of a chronically ill child must endure. The author’s vivid descriptions of each circumstance and deeply compelling emotion puts readers in the middle of his story. Even more importantly, this inspirational book will help readers understand their own life story.
Although we may not be able to determine the final outcome, we can decide how we are going to live each day – with hope and thankfulness or with bitterness. Phillip Yancey, 'NYT' best-selling author of 'The Jesus I Never Knew' stated, “I have read the full account of Caleb’s life in The Caleb Years, and I’m glad I did. Especially, I appreciated that David didn’t offer saccharine answers. He showed the raw, up-and-down vulnerability that always accompanies such a trial.”
Eugene H. Peterson, best-selling author and Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology at Regent College said "Caleb was born with several undiagnosed congenital anomalies and endured ten major surgeries. His father writes the story, saturated with both pain and prayer, but remarkably without a trace of bitterness. His marvelous witness written with such skill, crafted in language honest and vivid, will not fail to deepen the faith and joy of all who trust God."

Author David Ingerson's Inspirational Book, 'The Caleb Years', Shows Us How The Devastating Loss Of A Child Can Inspire Hope
Ingerson's moving and compelling book about the life and untimely death of his son Caleb shows us how heartbreak and bitterness can be transformed into hope and thankfulness
If we will admit it (and most of us won't), we are collectively fascinated by tragedy. From the catastrophic earthquake in Nepal, to rioting in Baltimore, and school shootings in various places in the United States, from terrorist attacks all over the world to genocide in faraway countries, we watch with rapt attention while these horrific events unfold. If there is a God in charge of the universe, what could He possibly be thinking? And again, (if we will simply admit it), somewhere deep inside we secretly celebrate the fact that is it happening over there, out there - anywhere but here. We like to believe it could never happen to us.
However it doesn't always happen to somebody out there or over there. Sometimes it happens right here.
The death of a child is not only the most horrific type of tragedy but also a parent’s worst nightmare. We realize we have lost something we never imagined we could lose. To lose a child to chronic illness is bad enough, but to lose a child as the result of senseless irresponsibility is beyond words. If God does have a plan for each of us, then perhaps that plan seems to make no sense at all. When faced with such a mind-numbing event, what do we do? Overwhelmed with grief, many simply give up. Some never recover. Only a few take action and vow to do something to help others prevent these types of tragedies. David Ingerson is one of the latter. A stalwart supporter of safe blood donation, he encourages everyone who is qualified and risk-free to become a regular blood donor. He supports his local blood center, LifeShare Blood Centers in Shreveport, Louisiana. More information on the organization is available at their website.
David Ingerson and his family, as intensely described in this inspirational story chose the way of hope--even when facing Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and the dread of HIV. While it did not take away their pain, it did give them the strength to live with meaning even when God didn’t seem to make sense.
"I wrote this book," Ingerson stated, "to encourage others that although there will be times in our lives when we face trials seemingly beyond our ability to endure, we can live through these dark valleys of loneliness and agony if we will be patient and honest with our difficult emotions. Although the years of our son's short life were characterized by intense medical drama, agonizing turmoil and uncertainty wherein we daily faced the unnerving possibility or our son's early death, the years immediately following his untimely death were filled with numbing sorrow, grief and pain. Somehow, we chose to live and eventually rose above the anguish of those years that came to be known as the 'Caleb years'. As I reflected back upon the dismal despair I'd lived through during those years, I began to realize that I had a story to tell that could be helpful for someone else.Hence, came 'The Caleb Years'."

Author Kellie Fitzgerald Chosen As Winner For '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'
Fitzgerald was chosen from a field of hundreds of authors who appeared on The Authors Show Radio in 2014. She is the author of 'When On The Road To Enlightenment, Don't Forget To Take Out The Trash'
Kellie Fitzgerald, author of 'When On The Road To Enlightenment Don't Forget To Take Out The Trash' has been chosen as a winner for '50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading'. Winners will appear in this years edition of the book. Fitzgerald was chosen as the result of her appearance on The Authors Show Radio.
Fitzgerald's book was written to help people find those seeds of greatness within themselves and get out of their own way so they can live a happy and satisfying life, whatever that means to the individual. Often people sabotage themselves without realizing it. This book is intended to help people realize when they are sabotaging themselves and how they can stop doing it.
"I did not have an idyllic childhood, which lead directly to my not having an idyllic first marriage," Fitzgerald stated. "I have been abused, beaten down and made to feel as though I was less than nothing. These things lead to years of illness both physical and mental. Everyone has a past, everyone has had to overcome something in their life, and we've all done things we wish we could take back. My message is simply this: we all have a tendency to self-sabotage through holding onto our pasts. My passion is helping people face their past, accept it, and move on so that their past doesn't keep happening in their future."
Reviewers have praised 'When On The Road To Enlightenment'. One reviewer recently stated "This is a wonderful book for any point in your life. Every day should be about what we can do to improve our world, and that starts with improving ourselves. Kellie writes about how she made these changes to her own life and shows that even though the steps might be difficult, the end result is amazing and life altering. She clearly shows that change must start with ourselves and writes about how to do it by doing it every day. She includes steps that many of us forget (like taking out the trash), but are so important. This is a must read for anyone, no matter where you are in life or what you are doing . . ."
Kellie Fitzgerald is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at oneintuitivelifecoach@yahoo.com. 'When On The Road To Enlightenment Don't Forget To Take Out The Trash' is available at Amazon. More information is available at Kellie Fitzgerald's website at http://www.whenontheroadtoenlightenment.com.
About Kellie Fitzgerald:
Kellie Fitzgerald has arrived at this particular point in her life by taking the scenic route, often filled with pratfalls and new beginnings. After a life spent experiencing trials by fire while simultaneously navigating choppy waters, she is passionate about helping others navigate their own paths and become the very best version of themselves they can be. Having been told early in adulthood that as an employee she would make an excellent entrepreneur, Kellie, has started, grown and/or run several small businesses.
