"My intent with this program," stated Ms. Brown, "is to bring attention to the tragic losses suffered by so many. Doing so is a reminder that people are still grieving and that we have a great opportunity to acknowledge and support them. My book is a gift and a means of connection for both survivors and supporters. So, I'm honored to give copies away in memory of heroes who are gone but not forgotten."

Profile:

Denise Hall Brown is a survivor in every sense of the word. Born in a small town in Maryland, Denise’s first 29 years of life were pretty standard.  In fact, life was good.  Things changed, however, right before her 30th birthday, when Denise’s mother was killed by a drunk driver.  In the days, weeks, and months that followed, Denise had a difficult time adjusting to life without her mother.  In fact, she says she “lost her mind” and felt that she had been the one to "die" in that car accident.  A defining moment for Denise came a few months after the accident, when she remembers feeling sorry for herself as she thought about all she had lost and the unfairness of it all.  In an instant, Denise heard her mother’s voice telling her to stop being a victim.  That forced her to change both her perspective and her approach.  Despite enduring three more sudden and tragic losses since that time, Denise no longer sees herself as death’s victim.  Instead, she is a survivor who honors her loved ones by reaching out to others as they navigate grief’s long journey.

Denise is a leader. In writing the 2Grieve2Gether book and creating a companion organization, Denise hopes to use those two vehicles to be the preeminent source of information, tools and products that comfort the world’s survivors and supporters as they navigate the grief process and maximize their lives. She hopes to revolutionize the grief care industry by creating forums to increase awareness, connecting people to existing information and resources, and creating new tools to assist with the healing process and to serve as Grief Consultants, helping survivors and supporters deal with the practical side of grief, including its emotional, physical, spiritual, and financial components.
