New Children’s Book About Peace, 'I Can See Peace' By Author Julie Penshorn, Wins Human Relations Peace Book Of The Year Award

The book will be officially be released on International Peace Day, September 21, 2018. Penshorn is the Director of Smart Tools for Life which provides memorable and engaging books and music for young children that enhance their “smarts” for problem-solving, empathy, and compassion, and sink deeply - for life - into children's hearts and minds.

'I Can See Peace,' the new children’s book, by Minnesota author Julie Penshorn, recently received the Director’s Choice Award from the Human Relations Indie Book Awards committee.

Susan Peterson, the Human Relations Indie Book Award organization’s representative commented, “We recently selected the outstanding children’s book, ‘I Can See Peace’, published by Growing Communities for Peace: Smart Tools for Life, as Human Relations Peace Book of the Year 2018. It was judged against the entries in all categories, not just children’s books. The focus of the Human Relations Indie Book Awards is to recognize outstanding indie authors who write on human relations topics.”

The illustrations, by California illustrator Jeanine-Jonee Keith, depict multicultural children seeking peace, even when they are struggling with conflict, illness, family arguments, and disability.

'I Can See Peace' is Penshorn’s second children’s book. The first, 'The Barnyard Buddies STOP for Peace' (2017) was awarded the Gold Award for Family Human Relations Children’s Indie Book. It guides families in learning a simple, four-step conflict resolution process. In the same category 'I Can See Peace' won a Silver Award. Both books hold Readers’ Favorite 5-star seals.

A Gold Award also was awarded to 'I Can See Peace' in the Health category. The book supports children’s mental health by providing a way forward toward a positive outlook when things are not going well. It also offers some inspiration and tools for children with adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) including childhood trauma and depression.

“Peace is always around us,” said Penshorn. “The challenge is that peace is not the only thing that’s around us. In this book children and families discover that by focusing attention on nature, and the wonderful and peaceful things in their lives, they are building the muscles to see and experience more peace. This is helpful for the mental health of anyone. By starting with young children this approach to life becomes a habit.

“Childhood trauma can have lifelong negative impacts. Our nonprofit, Growing Communities for Peace, created the Smart Tools for Life project to provide memorable and engaging children’s stories so learning about peace and nonviolence could be fun and impactful. Since whoever tells the stories creates the culture, our organization seeks to build a culture of peace beginning with children’s stories. We include music because it helps the skills sink into the hearts and minds of children for life,” commented Rebecca Janke, Montessori teacher trainer and GCFP co-founder and current board member.

Penshorn added, “We spend a lot of time discussing the best ways to protect our children from gun violence in their schools, or strangers on our streets. As important as these discussions are, raising peaceful, compassionate kids is the best way to protect future generations.”

Smart Tools for Life will celebrate the release of 'I Can See Peace' on September 21st, 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Carondelet Village at 525 Fairview Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota. The program will include book reading, interactive dialogues, singalong and original songs of peace and justice, including the debut of Penshorn’s newest song, 'I Can See, I Can Be, I Can Wage Peace.'

Penshorn also will be a participant in an author-roundtable at Eat My Words Books, 214 13th Ave NE, Minneapolis on Friday evening the 28th of September.

Both events are in conjunction with Twin Cities Nonviolent and its Ten Days Free From Violence Campaign. Find out more at www.twincitiesnonviolent.org.

Parents, Grandparents And Teachers Can Celebrate World Peace Day On September 21, 2017, By Sharing Smart Tools For Life With Young Children

Smart Tools for Life specializes in books and music to guide children to create peace through social emotional learning and conflict resolution skills during their formative years. Its campaign, “I STOP for Peace,” compiles and celebrates the individual acts children do to make the world a better place.

September 21 is the day schools and homes across the world will sit down with their children and talk about peace. According to the United Nations website, the International Day of Peace this year ". . . will focus on engaging and mobilizing people throughout the world to show support for refugees and migrants."

“Those who are not suffering from a war-torn environment can sometimes push aside this day as irrelevant for them. However, so many of our actions have world-wide implications. We need to remember we can do something in all communities to bring people together and enhance their safety and dignity,” said Julie Penshorn of Smart Tools for Life. “For young children, we can introduce them to child-friendly conflict resolution and peacemaking materials.”

The Smart Tools for Life project, “I STOP for Peace”, focuses on drawing attention to the peaceful conflict resolution techniques and acts of kindness and caring already present in the child’s world. It invites children to share a story of how they worked out a problem with someone, or spent time playing with the new child in school, or had a child from a different country or background over to their house, or brainstormed a solution to a problem that worked for all.

Celebrated across the globe every year as the International Day of Peace, the goal of World Peace Day is to bring nations and people together. The theme for 2017 is "Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All". The upcoming book, the second in the Barnyard Buddies series, “The Barnyard Buddies Meet a Refugee” will make this topic relevant to all young children as they watch the unhappy, lonely dog find acceptance and purpose in the group of Barnyard Buddies.

At the Smart Tools For Life website, people can find out more about this book and others, and submit their children’s stories. Smart Tools for Life is compiling them and will share them in an upcoming book. Those contributing to the book will be sent a free copy.

World Peace Day is especially timely and relevant this year, because the subject of immigration and the refugee crisis have become a political battleground in the US, effectively splitting the population into two camps - those for and those against. It is urgent that we, as a society of global citizens, learn to resolve our conflicts, on this topic and others, in ways that enhance dignity, respect, and safety for all involved, rather than pursue ways that divide us.

But how do we do that? As Gandhi said, “We must begin with the children.” Smart Tools for Life creates children’s books, children’s music and other state-of-the-art resources that teach children how to problem solve in creative, respectful, and peaceful ways. They provide practical and inspiration tools rooted in the latest concepts in neuroscience, social and emotional education, and environmental education. The materials are catchy and fun, and are a great way to introduce young learners to the idea that developing these skills and caring for themselves, others, and the planet, is not only fun and engaging, it’s a normal part of their learning process.

By sharing these tools with children, influencers help kids become the leaders of tomorrow, capable of co-creating a culture we all want to live in.

“The children easily grasp the skills for conflict resolution and anger management when they are presented in an engaging story like 'The Barnyard Buddies STOP For Peace'. They will refer to the Barnyard Buddies long after the story is read in the classroom or home,” said Penshorn.

“I heard a wonderful story from a parent who told me they went to the zoo after reading the book and the four-year-old child said, ‘Oh look! The zebras are not sharing their shelter! They need to have Mrs. McCloud (the peacemaking owl in the story) help them learn to be peacemakers.’

“Everybody remembers the Dr. Seuss stories they read to their children, or heard as children,” continues Penshorn. “That’s because this type of story sinks deeply into the hearts and minds of kids, often for life. At Smart Tools for Life, we create similar stories: fun, engaging, rhyming, with great art, that have a message. We recognize it's not just what we teach that matters, but how we teach.”

Author Julie Penshorn, MBC, is a co-director of the nonprofit, Growing Communities for Peace and director of it’s Smart Tools for Life project. Penshorn co-authored an earlier curriculum on conflict resolution, complete with hands-on-learning tools, that is in use in over 13,000 locations. Now, she’s focusing her unique talents on children’s books and music and a blog-based approach to supporting peace literacy and building a culture of peace.

Smart Tools for Life's product line includes kids books and music, conflict resolution cubes and wearables. There is also a free, downloadable coloring page for kids, based on the flagship children's book, “The Barnyard Buddies Stop For Peace”.

Smart Tools for Life Announces Release Of New Children's Book, 'Barnyard Buddies', With Companion CD And Kids’ Music for Peace

Smart Tools for Life specializes in products that help children navigate their world during their formative years.

Smart Tools for Life has announced the release of a new children's book, “The Barnyard Buddies STOP for Peace.” They have simultaneously released two companion CDs, “I STOP for Peace,” and “Songs for Peace.” The tools help children learn anger management, conflict resolution, and many more social skills they term “peacemaking skills.” All products are available at Amazon and other retailers and on the company’s website.

Parents, grandparents, and teachers want many things for their children. They must guide, support, and hold their hands as they learn about the world. That is no small job, but it is perhaps the most important job in the world. Sadly, we live in a world in which children as young as 8 have committed suicide as the result of bullying.

“We provide resources that we call, ‘Smart Tools for Life,’” said co-director Julie Penshorn, “because they are useful tools for guiding children to be as safe, capable, joyful, and self-confident as they can be. That’s smart. Because they are memorable and engaging, they sink deeply into children's hearts and minds -- often for life.”

Their books, music, blog, and other state-of-the-art resources, provide practical and inspiration tools rooted in the latest concepts in neuroscience, social and emotional education, and environmental education. The children’s materials are catchy and fun, so they are a great way to introduce young learners to the idea that developing skills for anger management, effective conflict resolution, and for caring for themselves, others, and the planet, is a normal part of their learning process.

“What young children learn through repetition, in rhyming stories and music, sinks deeply into their hearts and minds, and becomes a way of life. The skills become as normal as brushing their teeth.” said co-director Rebecca Janke.

By sharing these tools with children, influencers help kids become the leaders of tomorrow, capable of co-creating a culture we all want to live in. Sesame Street, Dr. Seuss and others like them are beloved because they look at the world from the child's perspective as they teach important lessons. With a similar approach, Smart Tools for Life also recognizes it's not just what we teach that matters, but how we teach.

Author Julie Penshorn, MBC, and content editor, Rebecca Janke, M.Ed are co-directors of the nonprofit, Growing Communities for Peace, As evidenced by their extensive resumes and experience, Rebecca and Julie are thought leaders within the children's peace education field. They have had a fascinating journey, beginning with a curriculum on conflict resolution, complete with hands-on-learning tools, that is in use in over 13,000 locations. Now, they are introducing their unique children’s books and music and blog-based approach to support peace literacy and to support a culture of peace.

"This is a comprehensive program for teachers and families and it's so easy," stated Julie Penshorn. "No one has to add to their workload -- just read the book to the kids, then share the book and music repeatedly. The learning is taken care of. Overwhelmed teachers do not need to panic at another additional item on their 'to do' list. Rather, introducing these tools at the beginning of the year helps set the classroom tone and makes their job easier. With the help of our blog, teachers can infuse peacemaking skills into every aspect of children’s lives, to have a friendlier classroom that provides a safer, more satisfying, and more educational environment for children's learning. Parents encountering these materials can share them with teachers as well as use them at home."

Rebecca Janke and Julie Penshorn are available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below or by email at julie@smarttoolsforlife.com. More information is available on the website at http://www.smarttoolsforlife.com.

9-11 Anniversary - Dr. Laurie Pappas Believes Terrorism Can Be Turned Into Opportunity

Is peace even possible in a world in which thousands of innocent civilians are slaughtered in the interest of fundamentalist agendas? Is there any good left in the world at all? Many of us might answer 'no'. Yet Dr. Laurie Pappas believes that even an event as horrific as the 9-11 tragedy can become a catalyst for lasting, positive change. She demonstrates this in her latest book, 'The Loving Heart'

All human beings naturally believe what they see. Yet what they see is not fact, as all human beings actually see only what they believe they see. If the tragedy of 9-11 is seen from a perspective based on separation, discrimination or political agendas, it would appear to be an event that separated the entire world into two camps - those who seek to kill and destroy against those who seek peace. Dr. Laurie Pappas, author of 'The Loving Heart' believes the 9-11 tragedy can be seen in a different light. It can instead be seen as a powerful catalyst to bring the peoples of the world together at last. She offers practical advice on overcoming conflict and creating personal peace in her book, 'The Loving Heart: Navigating the Journey from Conflict to Peace'. A long time spiritual counselor and life coach, she is now offering a limited number of no-charge consultations to those who wish to take the first steps towards creating personal peace.

"As we embark upon the 10th anniversary of 9/11," stated Dr. Pappas, "our thoughts turn to those whose lives were lost on that fateful day.   As we mourn, once again, for the family members left behind and for our country, may we be more aware of the good that still lives in our world, and the incredible gift that each of us has to turn tragedy into opportunity.  If 9/11 symbolizes the misunderstandings that can arise amongst peoples of the earth, then let us use this anniversary as a time to reflect on how to peacefully resolve our disagreements, one person at a time.

"I believe that every human being wants to live peacefully, and I know in my heart that our spiritual nature calls us to lay down our arms and find a better way.  If we want the world to follow suit, we must each set an example for others to clearly see and use as a model.  We must each look for ways to eradicate the fears and insecurities within us, which cause us to lash out at others.  Personally, I know there is a way.  Professionally, I’ve seen hundreds of students and clients move past their anger and misperceptions into a mind-set of peace and harmony.  I’ve seen relationships improve; love and connection where there used to be conflict and division."

"And so," continued Dr. Pappas, "let this be a time of reflection for all of us – a time to come together in hope, resolve and unity; for we are all children of this earth, children of Divine Spirit, children of love.

Dr. Pappas presents her life changing approach in 'The Loving Heart: Navigating the Journey from Conflict to Peace'. The book is supplemented by a workbook entitled 'The Loving Heart Companion'. Dr. Pappas has included over 30 years of observation and wisdom gained from personal experiences, as well as working with students, clients, family members and colleagues.

Dr. Pappas is offering a no charge consultation to the first three people who contact her with a request.  Those who sign up for her email list receive daily inspirational messages to help them reprogram their minds to achieve greater happiness and peace. Participants also receive articles about once per month and a calendar of Dr. Pappas's classes. More information is available at her website.

Martin Luther King Remembered: Dr. Laurie Pappas Believes The Power To Create Change Also Lies Within Each Of Us

Racism and discrimination VS dignity and mutual respect - Martin Luther King's message will never be forgotten. A new memorial now stands in Washington DC in his honor. Though King became the leader, Dr. Laurie Pappas believes the power that inspired him also lies within each of us

Racial segregation and racial discrimination are issues that have plagued American society since the beginning. All of us are still affected by these issues nearly every day, even in this age of enlightened thought. Today a new memorial stands in honor of Martin Luther King, who offered the US a new vision based on dignity and mutual respect. Dr. Laurie Pappas shares in and supports King's vision, but believes he was not alone, as the power to bring about real change lies within each of us. She offers practical advice on overcoming conflict and creating personal peace in her book, 'The Loving Heart: Navigating the Journey from Conflict to Peace'. A long time spiritual counselor and life coach, she is now offering a limited number of no-charge consultations to those who wish to take the first steps towards creating peace.

"The unveiling of the Martin Luther King National Memorial," stated Dr. Pappas, "is a symbol of the power of the human spirit in all of its magnificence. As we look upon our country’s strides in civil rights over the past century and the determination and perseverance it has taken by so many to get where we are now, we can be reminded that the same strength of mind and fortitude resides within each one of us, as children of Divine Spirit. It reminds us that any dreams by any person anywhere can come true, and that the spiritual warrior inside of each of us is alive and well."

"Martin Luther’s King’s life prompts us to think about what we feel passionate about, and what we can do about it. It lends hope to all endeavors, courage to all challenges, and endurance to all prolonged ventures. We would be wise to remember this whenever we find ourselves frustrated, disheartened or hindered. We can do whatever we set our minds to, for we have that capacity. Now the visual representation of this truth stands tall in Washington DC. Dr. King, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for the message of your life! You will not be forgotten."

Dr. Pappas presents her approach in 'The Loving Heart: Navigating the Journey from Conflict to Peace'. The book is supplemented by a workbook entitled 'The Loving Heart Companion'. Dr. Pappas has included over 30 years of observation and wisdom gained from personal experiences, as well as working with students, clients, family members and colleagues.

Panic And Anxiety In The Financial Markets - Dr. Laurie Pappas Offers Practical Advice To Help Alleviate The Fear

Bankruptcy, loss of retirement income, our children's futures destroyed - these are the dark pictures our minds paint for us when we hear bad economic news. There is no way to stop the seesaw action in the financial marketplace, but there is a powerful way to overcome the anxiety this produces

Every tick downward in the financial marketplace creates a corresponding uptick in the anxiety levels of investors worldwide. Bleak scenarios, often fueled by gossip or the media, only serve to increase our fears. Dr. Laurie Pappas offers practical advice on overcoming anxiety in her new book, 'The Loving Heart: Navigating the Journey from Conflict to Peace'. She is now offering a limited number of no-charge consultations.

"It is so easy," stated Dr. Pappas, "to listen to the news, talk with friends and neighbors about it, read the blogs and tweets about it, and buy into whatever emotion that accompanies this news. In the case of the recent market drop, it seems that fear is running rampant, and the response many have is to let fear, worry, and angst control most of their waking moments.

"There is another way. The mind of the human being is the most powerful instrument we have. We have command over our thoughts. We don’t have to buy into mass anxiety. We can keep our thoughts reigned in instead of placing our minds “out there” in the future. We don’t really know what will happen, but somehow we insist that we do. 'We will be bankrupt, we won’t be able to pay our bills, we won’t have enough for retirement, we won’t be able to pay for our kids’ schooling etc. etc.”

"Not necessarily so. We can each use the power of our minds to remain calm – to believe in the ability of our country to put itself back together, and in our capacity to be prosperous. We can choose to think positively. We will have everything we need and more. We needn’t read bad news right now, nor spend time focusing on others’ fears. We are our own masters and we can choose our beliefs regardless of what others say."

Dr. Pappas also offers phone and in-person spiritual and metaphysical counseling, in addition to life coaching, classes, workshops, speaking engagements and teleclasses. More information on all the resources she offers is available at her website. Specific information on teleclasses is available by email. Dr. Pappas is available for media interviews and can be reached using the information below, or by email at laurie@lovingheartconnection.com. High Achievers Like Amy Winehouse Who Crash And Burn - Dr Laurie Pappas Offers Practical Advice And No-Charge Consultations

Often people who experience great material, artistic or prominent success in life, upon arriving in the position they thought they wanted, feel an emptiness that they didn’t expect. What is one to do? Dr. Laurie Pappas offers practical advice in her book 'The Loving Heart' and is offering a limited number of no-charge consultations to those who have found themselves in this situation

Amy Winehouse is but the latest example of a highly successful person who came to a tragic and unexpected end. Not all these situations end in tragedy. For many highly successful people, the emptiness they feel manifests instead as depression, lethargy, dissatisfaction, helplessness and hundreds of other debilitating, life destroying conditions.

"When we witness a tragedy such as that of Amy Winehouse," stated Dr. Pappas, "many of us can’t help but have sympathy for this gifted individual, with all of her struggles. Amy was someone who was unable to overcome her fears, insecurities and the overwhelming circumstances of her life. Yet, a happening such as this, asks us to question our own lives, observing our own capacity for hope, our ability to rise above life’s challenges, and our capacity to discover meaning and purpose in our trials."

"I view the challenges of life as good for the soul, in that they can provide the stepping ground for profound awareness and insight. Many who suffer greatly, ultimately become wise about the great truths of living, and often become extraordinary helpers to those in need. Often, those who are sensitive and struggle the most, are the very ones who can experience the most magnificent triumphs if they can manage to persevere, even in the face of great adversity. I believe that hope is one of those things that is always there for the taking, and I urge anyone, anywhere who is grappling with inner suffering, to get the help they need, hang in there, and refuse to let go of hope. If they can, they may find that the outcome is well worth the fight.

Those who sign up for her email list receive daily inspirational messages to help them reprogram their minds to achieve greater happiness and peace. Participants also receive articles about once per month and a calendar of Dr. Pappas's classes. More information is available at her website.

"This doesn't just affect celebrities like Amy Winehouse," continued Dr. Pappas, "as many people who experience great material, artistic or prominent success in life, upon arriving in the position they thought they wanted, feel an emptiness that they didn’t expect. In addition, frequently they find that they must make great sacrifices to remain in such a place of distinction. Contentment in life, they may or may not realize, may be closely tied to achieving a healthy relationship with themselves, their families and/or some sort of Divine Spirit."

Helplessness In The Face Of Unemployment, Foreclosures And Debt - Dr Laurie Pappas Offers Practical Advice In 'The Loving Heart'

Some people's lives are utterly destroyed by economic woes, while others seem to flourish and emerge unscathed. What is the real difference between these two groups of people? Dr. Laurie Pappas has found a surprising answer. She presents this answer in her recent release, 'The Loving Heart'

The unprecedented economic downturn has resulted in the massive loss of jobs, huge numbers of foreclosures and a national debt level that is beyond staggering. Americans are suffering like no time in recent history. The natural first response is to levy blame upon those responsible for what may appear to be irrational decisions and political game playing. Dr. Laurie Pappas believes that, rather than wasting time complaining or placing blame, our time is better spent addressing the problems on a more personal level. She offers practical advice in her latest release, 'The Loving Heart'.

"It seems," stated Dr. Pappas, "that the economy is not bouncing back the way we all wanted and expected. We can't help hearing from the media that national debt is rising, the housing market is still suffering, and that unemployment for many may be running out. Often, many of us feel that just mere survival in this economic climate is next to impossible. There seems to be a feeling of helplessness that is contagious. But, I disagree. There is much each of us can do to assure ourselves that not only can we survive, but we can thrive, even in such an atmosphere."

"Too many of us give up when we are frustrated and give in when we can't pay our bills. I believe that prosperity is possible for anyone who imagines it, dreams it, focuses on it, and refuses to think about lack. For those who concentrate on what they 'have,' and not what they 'don't have,' who appreciate all material gains, no matter how small, who see their cup half full instead of half empty, there are riches galore. No matter what 'bad news' is broadcast to us, we each have the power to change our own circumstances right here and right now!"

She now offers a series of teleclasses dealing with the subjects contained within her written works. So where does one look to begin to turn such negative situations around? Dr. Pappas believes it must begin within.

"Our thoughts and beliefs are powerful," she continued, "so powerful, that we can create a better reality with them. No matter what we hear happening around us, we can focus on abundance and prosperity for ourselves and even for others about whom we care. There are people out there with wealth even now, at a time when the world around them may be collapsing financially. So why do they have money? Because within their minds, they actually believe that they can! Somewhere along the road, they decided to succeed and to flourish, and that they weren't going to take no for an answer. And even if their bank accounts told them differently, they refused to buy into the rampant beliefs 'out there' about the economic struggle we must all be in. They just imagined something better and got to work making it happen!"

Dr. Pappas offers phone and in-person spiritual and metaphysical counseling, in addition to life coaching, classes, workshops, speaking engagements and teleclasses. More information on all the resources she offers is available at her website. Specific information on teleclasses is available by email. Racial Discrimination, Equal Rights and Gay Marriage: Dr. Laurie Pappas Offers Practical Advice In 'The Loving Heart'

We live in a world defined by differences - black and white, male and female, young, old, rich, poor - the divisions are endless. Dr. Laurie Pappas hopes to help create a world in which all are embraced as equal members of a common family - spirit. She offers a practical approach in her book 'The Loving Heart'

All human beings, be they black or white, male or female, Muslim, Hindu or Christian seek the state of peace. Yet there can be no peace where inequality - perceived or otherwise - is present. To achieve a state of personal peace, we must first accept that all beings share a common source - spirit. Only then can the issues that divide human beings be overcome once and for all. This begins with the individual and ripples outward to the masses. Dr. Laurie Pappas offers a practical approach to personal peace in her book, 'The Loving Heart'.

"First African Americans and women," stated Dr. Pappas, "now gays. New York State is setting a great standard for equal rights with their momentous decision to allow legal gay marriage. As human beings, we have been given freedom of choice, including sexual orientation. As spirit, we are naturally equal, all imbued with a loving nature that strives to express itself. God doesn't judge and, as part of the Divine God-force, it is not in our nature to judge either. If one of our brothers or sisters chooses a homosexual partnership, just as some of us might choose a heterosexual partnership, why should they be denied the same basic rights as other family partners? The commitment is there, the wish to contribute to society is there, the desire to raise well-grounded, happy kids is there. Gays do not differ in their essential qualities from any other human being, as we similarly discovered when when we abolished slavery and gave women and African Americans the vote. From a spiritual perspective, the most loving and compassionate response to the question of gay marriage has been answered by a New York legislature refusing anymore to deny rights to any state citizen."

Happiness Begins With Forgiveness: Dr. Laurie Pappas Offers Powerful Resources In The ‘The Loving Heart’

Many people feel that forgiving others is often not possible or perhaps simply not deserved. Dr. Laurie Pappas, author of ‘The Loving Heart: Navigating The Journey From Conflict To Peace,’ teaches that forgiveness is a necessary and significant step on the road to happiness. She offers Elizabeth Smart's ordeal as an extreme example of the transformational power of forgiveness

Everyone knows the story of Elizabeth Smart, who was kidnapped and raped daily for nine months by her captor, Brian David Mitchell, before being rescued. Amazingly, Smart went on to forgive her tormentor and has gone on to establish The Elizabeth Smart Foundation, dedicated to helping protect children from physical abuse.

“Elizabeth Smart”, stated Dr. Pappas, “is a role model for us all. In her ability to forgive her tormentor, Brian David Mitchell, she has freed herself from the bondage that could keep her from living her life fully and with great purpose. Perhaps through her faith, but certainly through deep inner work, she has risen from her ashes with plans to go to college, and to help protect children from physical abuse through her creation of the new Elizabeth Smart Foundation. Hopefully, we can all learn from her courage and her commitment to life, that if we hold onto anger in our hearts, we thwart the very essence of who we are, that of love, compassion, and benevolence. Through forgiveness, we liberate ourselves to live and participate fully in this valuable and meaningful life we've been given."

She now offers a series of teleclasses dealing with the subjects contained within her written works.

"Elizabeth Smart's choice," Dr. Pappas continued, "to forgive gives each of us great food for thought. If she can do this under such horrific circumstances, couldn't we all? Concepts such as forgiveness, surrender and the mirroring principle, help us to mend the fearful, anxious and angry states of mind that accompany us each day. These concepts help us to uproot any disturbing thoughts we may have, and replace them with calm, peaceful ones, freeing us to extend hopeful, caring thoughts into regions of the world that so critically need our nonviolent, harmonic energy.”

Dr. Pappas offers phone and in-person spiritual and metaphysical counseling, in addition to life coaching, classes, workshops, speaking engagements and teleclasses. Mississippi Flooding: Dr. Laurie Pappas Offers Real Hope In The Midst Of Tragedy

The Mississippi River flooding is the next horrific event in what has become a long line of environmental catastrophes. Author Laurie Pappas believes that learning to overcome these challenges, as difficult as this may appear to be, begins with choices made by the individual and offers practical guidance in her new book 'The Loving Heart'

Natural catastrophies take a serious toll on those of who must suffer through them - serious injury, the death of loved ones, loss of homes and possessions, businesses destroyed, the displacment of families, financial ruin, the cost of rebuilding - the list goes on and on. These challenges can easily overwhelm even the strongest of us. Yet, amidst this chaos, there is another way of looking at such events. Dr. Laurie Pappas offers a different perspective in her recent release,'The Loving Heart'.

"These events," stated Dr. Pappas, "have, once again, brought despair to human beings who urgently need a way to cope with the adversity that life can bring. Viewing a situation in terms of its opportunities rather than its agonies can help anyone, anywhere to deal with hardship. What if there was actually a grander purpose in all crises? What if disasters such as this could make us stronger and wiser? What if we could learn something profound or useful from our experience? I believe that it is the nature of the Universe in which we live to challenge us to improve ourselves and discover hidden pockets of knowledge and power that we didn’t even know we possessed. If we open to this possibility, not only can we navigate rough waters more easily, but we can also develop amazing new versions of ourselves – ones more masterful and empowered, self-aware and compassionate."

She now offers a series of teleclasses dealing with the subjects contained within her written works.

“Teleclasses,” continued Dr. Pappas, “on such subjects as forgiveness, surrender and the Mirroring Principle, help us to mend the fearful, anxious and angry states of mind that accompany us each day. The concepts taught help us to uproot any disturbing thoughts we may have, and replace them with calm, peaceful ones, freeing us to extend hopeful, caring thoughts into regions of the world that so critically need our nonviolent, harmonic energy.”

Peace Is A Choice: Dr. Laurie Pappas Offers A Practical And Effective Approach To Peace In 'The Loving Heart'

The death of Osama Bin Laden and the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton give the world a glimpse of the two extremes of human possibility. Author Laurie Pappas believes that peace, both indvidual and on a global scale, begins with choices made by the individual and offers practical guidance in her new book 'The Loving Heart'

The extremes of human experience have been clearly demonstrated in the events making headlines over the last few weeks - the death of Osama Bin Laden and the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. On one hand, the world celebrates death; on the other, love. Dr. Laurie Pappas puts forth the idea that the future of our world depends upon the choices made by every individual.

"The death of Osama Bin Laden," stated Dr. Pappas, "and the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton give the world a glimpse of the two extremes of human possibility. Why are we mesmerized by a love story and relieved and maybe even ecstatic over the demise of a notorious terrorist figure? Because "love" is our healer, our balm, our peace-bringer. It is the absolute core of who we all are, and in its presence we are whole again. Bin Laden represents the part of each of us that is abhored - the wounded, hostile, diseased piece of each of us that needs healing. Every human being holds within, both extremes of possibility, even though most of us are able to reside somewhere in the middle. The closer we move toward our "loving" nature, and the farther we move away from fear and anger, the more peace abounds. If we learn anything from the symbolism of these events, may we realize that we each have the ability to choose and develop the loving side of our nature and to put to rest its opposite. This choice lays the groundwork for the future of our world."

War Has Been Ineffective In Creating Peace In The Middle East - Laurie Pappas Offers A Practical And Effective Approach In New Book

Dr. Laurie Pappas believes peace cannot be created through war, but instead must come about naturally as the result of changes in the thought processes of every individual. In her latest book, 'The Loving Heart: Navigating the Journey from Conflict to Peace', Dr. Pappas offers practical instruction at both the individual level and for the larger world community

Many people believe that peace comes about as the result of war. Dr. Laurie Pappas disagrees. Dr. Pappas, author of ‘The Loving Heart: Navigating the Journey from Conflict To Peace’, believes that genuine, lasting peace must begin with the individual. As a follow-up to her book, she now offers practical instruction on this topic in a series of teleseminars.

“Peace is a process,” stated Dr. Pappas, “something that’s obviously not going to happen over night, but every step along the way brings us closer. Sometimes military intervention is needed, such as in the case of Libya right now. But there is more we can do individually. Our minds are contained within a Divine Spirit energy that lives within all of us, whether we live in America, Libya, or elsewhere in the Middle East. This is an ocean of energy in which thoughts play an important role. They move back and forth freely in this energetic field, affecting everyone and everything. Our thoughts here can influence the behavior and thoughts of people millions of miles away. If we’re thinking hateful, judgmental or condemning thoughts, they are received by every other being on this planet. We all contribute to the well being or ill health of our planet just by what we choose to place in our minds. How can we best use our individual minds to help bring about peace in this war torn region? Choose thoughts of compassion, forgiveness, and wishes for freedom from strife for the Libyan people, Gaddafi included.”

“Teleclasses,” continued Dr. Pappas, “on such subjects as forgiveness, surrender and the Mirroring Principle, help us to mend the fearful, anxious and angry states of mind that accompany us each day. The concepts taught help us to uproot any disturbing thoughts we may have, and replace them with calm, peaceful ones, freeing us to extend hopeful, caring thoughts into regions of the world, like Libya, that so critically need our nonviolent, harmonic energy.”

Dr. Pappas offers phone and in-person spiritual and metaphysical counseling, in addition to life coaching, classes, workshops, speaking engagements and teleclasses. Her teleclass schedule for Spring 2011 is as follows (all times EST):

Wed. April 27 All You Want to Know about Forgiveness 12:00-1:15 pm

Thurs. May 5 Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, What Can I Learn From You? 12:00-1:15 pm

Dr. Laurie Pappas Offers A Practical Approach To Creating Peace On A Global Scale In 'The Loving Heart', Announces Teleseminar Schedule

Dr. Pappas believes all people wish for peace, but very few really understand how to create that state of peace. In her latest book, 'The Loving Heart: Navigating the Journey from Conflict to Peace', she offers practical instruction for both individuals and the larger world community

Combat in Afghanistan, war in Libya, fighting between Israelis and Arabs – all these occur under the guise of creating peace and freedom, but can true peace ever come about as the result of endless armed conflict? Of course not; yet many believe it can. Individuals often prefer to hand the responsibility for peace off to groups such as the military or a government. But what can we do personally - right where we stand now - to make a difference? Dr. Laurie Pappas, author of 'The Loving Heart: Navigating the Journey from Conflict to Peace' offers the only real path to creating peace, both on a personal level and on a global scale. Not only does she offer real answers, she also provides practical instruction on how to eliminate anxiety and fear, and to create hope, happiness and ultimately the state of peace.

"The conflict in our own minds," stated Dr. Pappas, "contributes to the conflict in our global world because we’re all connected by earth and spirit. Peace begins within. American democracy is the envy of many in the Middle East and elsewhere; understandably, for American democratic society is as good as is gets. But could we do better? True freedom is found within the mind when we learn to see each other through the eyes of forgiveness and compassion. This is the message of the Dalai Llama, whose voice has been desperately needed during his reign."

“Peace,” continued Dr. Pappas, "is an elusive term. We talk about it, think about it and pray about it, but it often seems to escape us. I wrote these books to provide an understanding and a practical pathway to the 'peaceful living' enigma. Not only do these books offer user-friendly exercises to add practicality to the concepts described, but also personal stories, which demonstrate the effectiveness of utilizing such exercises. When the reader is finished studying the books and doing the exercises, they will then possess a 'tool box' filled with effective instruments for peaceful, harmonious living. At any time of need, they can access their tool box and return to a state of peace."

Dr. Pappas offers phone and in-person spiritual and metaphysical counseling, in addition to life coaching, classes, workshops, speaking engagements and teleclasses. Her teleclass schedule for Spring 2011 is as follows (all times EST):

Janet Smith Warfield, Author Of Shift: Change Your Words, Change Your World, Will Be Appearing On Authors Web TV Through November, 2010

Janet Smith Warfield proposes that we can change the world in which we live through changing the words we use. She believes that through learning to do this we can develop strength, self confidence, peace, serenity and awareness. Shift took First Place in the New Age non-fiction category in the 2008 Next Generation Indie Book Awards

Seldom do we get the opportunity to meet, let alone interact with a person who has had a mystical experience. In Janet Smith Warfield's book, Shift: Change Your Words, Change Your World, we are offered a rare glimpse into the mind of an individual who has had such an experience. She invites us, through the words and the tools she uses, to interact with her, follow her into a transformed world and together create a world we’ve only before dreamed of.

Ms. Warfield’s mystical experience occurred unexpectedly as a young wife and mother. Her book Shift is aptly titled. Suddenly, just like seeing the other side of an optical illusion, her perception, words and emotions shifted. The shift changed her life forever.

Since the beginning of our recorded history, our greatest teachers have taught that when our external world becomes chaotic, turning inward brings serenity. Searching our own minds and hearts ultimately brings us peace.

“Most people,” stated Ms. Warfield, “have never looked at their own thoughts, feelings or words. Yet that’s where the answers lie. Shift: Change Your Words, Change Your World, can help.”“Shift,” Warfield continued, “offers simple and unusual word tools to stimulate our thinking. As we manage these tools using our own awareness and choice, we’ll notice our competence, clarity, strength, self-sufficiency, courage, and serenity increasing. We’ll watch our self-esteem growing as we take our power back.”

Today many of us have lost jobs, our homes, our life savings and even fathers or brothers in war. Shift teaches us how to refocus our energies. It teaches us how to release our pain, move on with our lives and channel our energy into caring for ourselves, those we love, and the things that really matter. To accomplish this, Shift teaches simple word and focus changes which provide immediate relief from fear and provide support for taking the next step.

“If we explode in rage, then retreat in guilt,” stated Ms. Warfield “Shift helps us channel that rage to clarify our values, indirectly change the people and situations we hate by directly changing ourselves, and make a positive difference in the world. If we are disgusted by other people’s ethics, words and actions, Shift shows us how to change others by changing ourselves. It helps us develop more satisfying relationships. If we are searching for meaning, Shift offers tools that help us clarify our mission and purpose on this planet.”

Ms. Warfield will be appearing on Authors Web TV through November, 2010. She is available for interview and can be contacted using the information below or by email at marketingdirector@wordsculptures.com. More information is available at her website.
