Author Mary Romero Featured In Motivational Book, 'Tales To Inspire: The Sapphire Collection'

Mary Romero's story reveals that, even though she and her siblings witnessed spousal abuse as young children, she managed to bring good memories into her adult years and went on to help others facing similar challenges

According to the 2010 Intimate Partner Violence Report issued by the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, 24.3% of women have been subjected to physical violence by an intimate partner and 48.4% have experienced at least one psychologically aggressive behavior by an intimate partner during their lifetime. The long-term effects of these types of episodes can and do change lives. Mary Romero is one of those people who suffered abuse as a child.

But in Mary's case, she managed to overcome this challenge. She used her experience to help her become an effective, loving parent. She also built a successful career as a therapist, help families overcome similar challenges. Her story is featured in 'Tales To Inspire: The Sapphire Collection'.

"My winning story, 'The Heart of Home is Hot Chocolate', stems from a childhood filled with spousal abuse, child abuse and molestation," Mary stated.  "All three of these topics are subjects that we, the general public, hear about every single day across the country yet; very few strides have been made to stop the cycles of familial abuse. Just in recent months we have heard of the 8 year-old boy who had been repeatedly tortured and beaten by his parents.  Several social workers who were supposed to be on the case were fired due to their findings of 'no abuse'.  Upon being examined it was noted that he, '…had BB pellets lodged in his lungs and groin.'  This, along with the two even more recent stories of domestic violence with professional football players, Ray Rice and Ray McDonald, makes it appear as though the powers that be are not moving quickly enough to prevent these atrocities from occurring. While these are not topics that society wishes to admit exist, they are all too common for children across these United States and children around the world.  My own experiences are what led me to become a Life Coach, child advocate and author on these and other important topics.   I have written about my own childhood in my book entitled, 'The Breakdown of an All American Family, an autobiography of child abuse, domestic violence and recovery'.  While these are difficult and often very heart wrenching stories, they are real with real victims who are being affected every day and these effects can last a lifetime.   There needs to be a greater awareness in order to protect our most precious commodity, our children."

Mary started working with the juvenile population over twenty five years ago in an effort to help effect change after working in the legal field.  Her dedication and determination to help stop abuses of children and adults alike has made her an expert in her field.  Mary has received several awards for her "Outstanding Dedication and Excellence in her Profession".

'Tales2Inspire' is a growing collection of anthologies of varied themes, with each book containing a compilation of stories filled with uplifting, inspiring messages compiled by author Lois W. Stern. Stern has authored some of these stories herself, but many more of them come from winners of her annual ‘Tales2Inspire’ contest. Stern has discovered that inspiring stories can be found everywhere. She continually seeks submissions by talented writers, but also keeps alert to news of unsung heroes whose fascinating stories find they way into one of her books . Each of the inspirational stories, including those submitted by Stern herself, is judged anonymously by a peer group to determine eligibility for publication. There are no fees to submit for consideration, and winning authors receive many no-charge platform-building opportunities.

"Because each of the stories included in any of the ‘Tales2Inspire’ collections is selected for its inspirational value, these books make ideal gifts for both those seeking a simple pick-me-up to those looking for uplifting, motivational messages presented in a very powerful way," Stern stated. "The appeal of these books is not just for people who need a major lift in spirits, but also for those just wanting a good read with embedded ‘feel good’ messages."

In a recent review of ‘Tales2Inspire’, Bernie Siegel, MD, author of ‘A Book Of Miracles’ and ‘365 Prescriptions for the Soul' stated, “(These are books) with a heart. Filled with stories which reveal what happens when we choose to live in a way that is life enhancing for all God's creatures. Our potential is miraculous when we choose to inspire the vapor of love. The people in these stories have always been my teachers. Read and learn the lessons of life.”
